Vintage shops are some of my favorite places to check out and Great Escape is now my go-to place for such items. Upon entering, you will immediately take a trip to wherever your nerdy imagination desires whether it be heading towards their insanely impressive collection of Star Wars toys or the amazing display of vintage vinyl records and music on a variety of other platforms. Great Escape also has a great selection of video games from just about any era of gaming from Atari all the way to the current generation of gaming which as a video game collector certainly was pleasing. Impressed with the vast amount of records accross all music genres. I love the most of them especially from the sixities to the ninety's. Got a jazz album, a lot of soul music, some pop. I sold off my large music collection in 1991 to move from Atlanta to Louisville. The owner said he has been open since 1978. I will definitely be back to get more music. In the mean time I need to figure out how to change the needle to get better sound. Great records, vast selection, great prices, is music to my ears!

It turns out that the state statute that would have required them granting access has been repealed, but I am accustomed to Bloomington businesses conducting themselves ethically and extending consideration to vulnerable members of the community, so it caught me off-guard to see someone evidently delight in my child's discomfort. It was the fine banal tradition of someone just doing their job with no hint of compassion or sympathy. It's a true shame, because we've had such a fantastic experience with the owners in the past, which is another reason why this callous indifference by their employee caught us totally off guard. We barely made it across the street but would have had to cancel our outing had we not, and these are few and far between for us.

The vinyl was organized pretty simply, but I couldn't wrap my head around how their CDs were organized. They were just kind of all over the place. Each little section would be organized alphabetically, some would even have genres listed above them, but then in the section it was just be a bunch of random things that didn't match up. Maybe things got moved around and no one has bothered to reorganize or something. I dunno. Regardless I was able to find some pretty good stuff. Overall reasonably priced..a couple things were slightly more expensive than they should have been, but again I don't mind spending a bit more money on places like this to help keep them alive. If I need a fiction book or a rare book for my collection of books I'll read once and never again then I have to go to the other HPB. I met some friends here recently to peruse and look at books before getting dinner and drinks. And it was fun to point out books we have read and want to read. I've also always enjoyed how B&N curates selections of books in its displays. I've discovered new books and authors to try because they were near other books I've liked. Also, during Christmas, I discovered how easily it is to order books online and have them shipped to the store for free pickup. I try to do the bulk of my book shopping at independently owned bookstores, but this proved difficult when I was trying to find some large print editions for my mom. B&N was able to ship it to be picked up next day. There's something always familiar and comforting about shopping at B&N. I'm sure I'll be back soon.
