Our boys now 5 and 7 have been going to Code Ninjas since they opened, we were so glad to find a STEM / coding center near us. They handled classes with COVID restrictions very well, which had to be challenging while opening in the middle of the pandemic. Our youngest geek-in-training sometimes has to be peeled away to leave. He is in the Junior group, working on CodeSpark and Scratch assignments, and enjoys getting tokens and exchanging for small toys, playing with Legos, playing chess with the Senseis. At home he is already pretty tech savvy due to playing video games on console and PC, and I feel it is important for him to work on actual assignments and learning how to create the things he enjoys so much. Our eldest moved to the bigger kids track, working on text based coding, loves earning tokens because he feels a sense of accomplishment, and even saved up his tokens for the biggest prize (Crystal growing set). We get email notification of his coding projects completed, and it's great to see he is progressing. Tom (owner) and John (director) are very welcoming and accommodating to our busy schedules. Anthony and all the Senseis are very patient (you have to be if you are guiding anyone through coding projects, and kids at that) and play chess, other STEM activities with them after they have completed their work. read more

My kids (5 and 7) quickly became obsessed! It is definitely their new favorite activity. Whenever their time is up, they never want to leave. It's clean and so much to do not on the screen as well. All the Code Senseis have been wonderful, and my kids can't wait to move up in the bracelets. Really flexible scheduling, you can switch what day/hour you want every week as long as there is availability. You can call and set up a free tour and your kid can try it out. This place is AWESOME!! While they haven't officially opened yet, aside from a couple of summer camps they offer, we participated in a trial class that was phenomenal!!! The kids were super excited to see their names in giant letters as they were welcomed into the "Dojo"! John walked us through the entire process and explained that the students all start with a white wristband, with each new concept they master they earn a different color wristband, and by the end of the program, they will earn a black wristband, which means they will have gained the knowledge and ability needed to create their very own app! John was extremely kind, professional, and thorough in answering all of our questions! Their instructors, Victor and Anthony, who are referred to as Senseis, were amazing!! They were both extremely friendly, personable, knowledgeable, and seemed genuinely excited and eager to teach the students! The Senseis took the time to learn about each student, on a personal level, by asking about their interests and what games they like to play. The Senseis then used that information to help each student through a coding activity geared toward their specific interest!! The facility itself is brand new, so it was immaculate!! The decor and colors were very inviting, and the technology was state of the art! They even have a cute little waiting area for the parents! Each student was also given hand sanitizer, before they entered the Dojo, to ensure all shared surfaces remained clean. John, Victor, and Anthony were simply FANTASTIC!! If your child is interested in coding, then definitely give Code Ninjas El Segundo a try! I took my 9-yr old daughter for a private event, and it was a phenomenal experience for both of us. Prior to this, my idea of coding was that it was intimidating and too difficult for my little one to master. While the steps are indeed complex, Armando and Tom taught the process in a way that was easy to follow. And, their passion for teaching coding came across and helped motivate the kids. My daughter caught on within the 1-hour lesson and, afterward, she and the other children didn't want to leave. It was a very fun and educational experience! read more

My 5 year old daughter attended camp on two occasions at Code Ninjas El Segundo. Both times she had an amazing time!!! The camps consist of very hands on and engaging activities that teach foundational frameworks and concepts of coding that are age appropriate. The teachers were knowledgeable, reliable and kind. The groups are not too big and my daughter felt very safe and welcomed there. I met the owner Tom when I toured the place prior to signing up for camp. He was generous with his time and shared his vision for why he opened up the facility. My kid started going to Code Ninjas at 5, and has been attending for about a year now. Can this child spit out lines of code? No, but that's because she's 6 years old and is still learning how to read (and I do not expect her to type out "if/than" statements at this age). Has she had fun doing puzzles, learning how a 3D printer works, and playing logic games that create a foundation for what's needed to be able to code Absolutely. The camps that they do are also really fun and educational (without being boring...they literally made it fun to build a circuit. where was this when i was a kid?). The instructors there are super kind and patient. John (the manager there) knows everyone by name, and greets every kid with enthusiasm. My son has been a regular and just completed a full year at this center, making me feel like I can host an AMA session about the experience. To start with, the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They have the skills to attend to the needs of every kid, as they progress from one level to another. They devote their time, work closely with the kids and provide encouragement. A school is only as good as its teachers, and I can say with utmost confidence that this Code Ninja center is the best in its category, in the vicinity. The game based development platform seems like a brilliant idea, it keeps the interest of the kids going and they are eager to develop one game after another, as they continue to make progress. Coupled with the Ninja style belts (bracelets) to motivate and recognize the achievements attained by the kids, as they make progress and conquer the challenges. We as parents can schedule the sessions and monitor their progress using the online portal. We love playing the games at home, which reveal how the logic development is progressing. I believe the logical and programming skills acquired through these programs are a good stepping stone into software development. This center is very clean and welcoming, it is also well organized into different sections for the various programs they offer. Code Ninja has given my child the right tools to feel confident about computers and coding. I would recommend any family with their children from any grade to give them the gift of taking them to Code Ninja if they are interested in STEM activities and coding, or would like to introduce them to the same. read more

This place is terrible! Don't come here! Just kidding! This place is amaaaaaaazing and I just don't want it to get tooo crowded, so scram! . Seriously tho, Everyone here is soooo friendly, genuinely nice and accommodating and they really do go the extra mile if they can do it. Oh and the coding is great, too! It's not just high school kids teaching coding but many instructors have advanced degrees in computer science. My two kids love coming here - we took a month off to sort schedules when school started and they would ask me all the time if they could come back! The kids loves learning coding language and all the alternative activities (like 3D printing) they have here. We've been here a year and they gave the kids one year anniversary shirts which is so sweet but one of my sons has eczema he deals with so only wears long sleeve and when I told the manager he only wears LS, he said he would see what he could do. Fast forward to today and one son comes home with a short sleeve and the other comes home with a long sleeve! WOW! I can honestly say, I don't know any other business that would have gone that out of their way (and they didn't know about the eczema either). Keep up the great work! We love it here! read more

My daughter's Girl Scouts troop participated in the Code Ninjas Girl Scouts gaming workshop recently and I cannot recommend it more. The girls all LOVED it! Code Ninjas cultivates a great atmosphere for learning how to code, and hone foundational problem solving skills in fun and creative ways! My daughters attended a Saturday workshop with their respective Girl Scout troops and had great exposure to the concepts of coding, while learning how to code their very own game! When I heard code ninja was opening in el segundo I was practically the first one to call and sign up. I am so glad I did it as my both boys loves the class. It not only teaches them how to code but also introduces to lot of variety of stem games. The owner and all the staff members are amazing and very knowledgeable. My son loves going there and loves the reward system they have where he receives tokens for completing tasks and for bringing his check in bracelet. We are one of the first few families to join Code Ninjas in El Segundo and absolutely love it! My son who is 6 loves coding as part of his extracurricular activities and shows a lot of pride when he's moved up to the next level. They teach great coding lessons and communicate to parents each of the kids progress. In addition Tom the owner and his wife find great opportunities in the community to give back so feels like a real family. My daughter has been attending the coding sessions here since this location opened. She really enjoys it and the instructors, staff and owner are great! My daughter has advanced a few "belts" and she feels a sense of accomplishment every time she completes a game. Students here learn at their own pace. My 10 year old boy absolutely loves coming here every week! He's on the shy side, but he's found this space to be one where he is comfortable given that the lessons meet him at where he is in his learning along with all the assistants there to help when needed. My 9yo has been coming here for over a year now and it's one of the few extracurriculars that he has truly enjoyed and wanted to stick with. You can decide if you want your child to do 1 or 2 hour block classes. Given his age, they recommended that we do 2 hours. To be honest, I was hesitant about whether or not he could sustain concentration or interest in anything for a 2 hour stretch but he ended up loving it (and still does)! I sometimes have to wait when I pick him up after 2 hours because he wants to finish up a project he's working on. We love how friendly and supportive the staff is (with us and with him) and how we get email notifications of the different games and programs that he's coded, especially since he enjoys watching us play the games he's created. Scheduling is a total breeze since it's all online. It's also extremely flexible so that's a huge bonus as well. If your child is interested in something like this, I can't imagine a better place for them to grow and learn and gain confidence in their coding abilities. Highly recommend!! read more

My daughter has been going to Code Ninja for over a year now and she loves it. They have some very intuitive and educational STEM programs and games they used to teach the kids to excel in these areas. Kids learn about solving puzzles, complex pattern recognition, and a great primer for kids to get into computer programming. Being a developer myself, I was very sensitive to how and what they teach the kids in programming, and I was very impressed. My kid is starting to be able to code little video games by herself and I looked at the code she wrote and was blown away. The fact she started from no experience to be able to start piecing together a program and understand the logics of writing programs at this age (7) is amazing. Very happy to be part of Code Ninja and look forward to her continuing to level up her STEM and critical thinking skills. One last thing is the teachers they hire at this Code Ninja are top notch.
