Yuliya is AWESOME!!!!! She found me in Whole Foods and asked if she could cut my hair because she needed to do a long layer cut for an exam. I am so thankful that she did because I will never go to anyone else in the city for a haircut again! Surprisingly, while trying to look for hangers on Craigslist, I came across an ad from CODE Salon looking for a hair model for high lights. I thought that it would be a great idea to try it out considering that it was going to be a free service. Walking in to this salon, I felt such a good vibe around me. The staff is beyond nice and everyone is so upbeat. I got a tour of the salon and was offered water/tea. 2 thumbs up to Jade. She did "peek-a-boo" high lights on my hair. She's a fun person to talk to and she knows what she is doing! She listened to what I wanted done and did exactly what was explained! And then naturally when leaving, the salon tries to sell their products. But really, since I was sold when I walked up the stairs, it wasn't difficult for me to question if I wanted to buy their products or just come in for the freebie. The aveda products feel so natural. Since I moved here to the city 2 years ago I've been coming here and I love coming here. Great staff; everyone is super friendly and professional. Very welcoming and helpful. When I first booked my appointment they broke everything down for me over the phone as much as they can. The prices range from different hair professionals (the level of their experience) Celena is my haircut stylist and she is wonderful! She gives her opinion 100% as far as what will be better depending on what it is you're looking for. She's always been very gentle with my hair which I love and I've never not liked my haircut with her. Her pricing I would say is mid-high since she has a lot of experience but I don't mind paying for something good! I got my Baliage (idk if I spelled that right haha) done here also with someone Celena recommended. Olivia is one of the newer colorist here but she did such a wonderful good with my hair! It was my second time dyeing my hair at a salon and I was more than satisfied with it! Planning on coming back here for another color sometime soon before I move to LA! read more

I met Alisa at the Paul Mitchell school. After she graduated and moved to CODE salon, I moved too. She's a master with men's hair. Her cuts are consistently perfect. I don't even look in the mirror when she's done because I already know it looks great. The facials here take you to another planet. I melted into the table. I walked (floated?) out and was so cool and calm for my haircut that I don't think I said a single word the whole time. They give you good, real world advice on how to keep your skin healthy as well. I went to him as a Keratin treatment hair model, and got a really good deal for it, so I knew I wouldn't really be disappointed even if very little came out of the experience. I'd never done a keratin treatment before, but I'm really glad I did, because my hair feels smoother and much healthier after it. I can't stop touching it haha:) TJ is absolutely wonderful. He was patient and meticulous, and really nice. I'm not particularly chatty when I first meet strangers, but he really put me at ease, and was friendly, but at the same time not pushy. I've lived in SF for about 6 years and haven't been able to find a hair salon I like until I went to Code Salon in March '18 to get a hair cut by Jacelyn! First of all, the salon is very clean, stylish and at a great location. The staffs are very friendly. I had a very long hair but I just gave birth to my first child and wanted to get it short. It was a big transformation but Jacelyn nailed it!! And I love my short hair (2ft shorter now)! This salon is on an expensive side but every penny was worth it. I'm very happy that I chose her, who's stylish and experienced, to do my big transformation. I even referred my mother and she loved Jacelyn's work too!! read more

Louise is very talented, creative, meticulous, professional and cool. She has given me many styles (long, shorter, edgy) and my hair always looks modern and amazing. Louise listens and gives useful professional feedback. You will not regret investing in an amazing haircut with Louise. John Skinner is an artist. He is always out in front of the trends and can do amazing things with hair color. I prefer natural looking hair color and often friends are surprised to hear that I color my hair. My hair just looks great all the time. John is exceptionally talented, informed, current and fun. It can be hard to find a good hair place. At least I found it hard. During my first three years in SF, I hopped salon to salon. I'd go somewhere inexpensive and hate my hair then go somewhere expensive and be turned off at the prospect of parting with so much money for my monthly color/cut appointments. At CODE I have a perfect balance of amazing hair that doesn't cost a fortune to maintain. I started out with stylists who were newer, which made my appointments very reasonably priced. I never felt like the stylists were new though, they knew exactly what they were doing and used the same high end products as the more senior stylists. I stuck with my colorist, Madeline, after she bumped into the next price level because she is amazing and worth it. They serve amazing tea and have unique slanted beds to lay in while your hair is washed. read more

I've had a cut done by Lauren, and my color done by both Jade & Kristen. All are SOLID: they listen to exactly what you want, interpret the right look for your hairtype (I have really fine hair) and execute it all beautifully. What I love is that the staff & the salon have a great, edgy vibe that makes me feel like I'll get something that reflects my style without it looking to harsh & without it making me look like I'm trying too hard too! Nothing cookie-cutter about this place, yet it's a very approachable & cool place. Love it. While Jade is no longer there :(... Been coming here for 2 years, finally writing the 5 star yelp review it deserves. Note: I only get my haircut every 9-12 months. AYDA: My beautiful lady Ayda. She is a brow killa. I almost don't want to write this review because I want her to be mine forever and now people may flock to her and I'll never be able to get an appointment. I go in every 6-8 weeks to get my brows touched up and she never fails to disappoint. She's super friendly and easy to talk to as well. I don't trust anyone else with them. Everyone knows brows are the new thing so it's important to always flaunt them. I always get tons of compliments after an appointment with her! CELENA: I've only gone to Celena once, to chop off 10 inches of my hair. Normally my haircuts are super simple so I don't have the need to see the master, but since this was a drastic change everyone said Celena was the chopping queen. So I made the appointment and was not disappointed. I was terrified to go short but she made it beautiful, fluffy, light. The cut came out to ~$115 which is rather pricey but deserving. VALERIE: I saw Valerie twice and she's wonderful. She was new talent when I saw her months ago but I'm not sure if that's changed. Really sweet and takes her time to listen to what I want-- highly recommend her! Oh and get the hot tea when they ask you if you'd like a beverage. It's slightly minty and has a sweet aftertaste. YESSS!! FINALLY! A hairdresser that GETS MY HAIR! I was recommended by a friend to see her stylist Louise. The best advice I've been given in a long time! The salon is beautiful! The staff was so friendly!! The receptionist remembered talking to me the day before and introduced herself again. Then I was escorted to the dressing room and quickly offered a beverage while I waited. The wait was short and soon I was ushered into the chair where Louise listened patiently to me ramble about my hair history. While playing with my hair we discussed options for my hair. I'm trying to grow my hair out but was in desperate need for some kind of style! After talking it over I was given a really lovely head and shoulder massage and then escorted to the shampoo room where I saw something new! A shampoo bed! WHAT? RAD!! I hate how my neck gets all stiff and sore in the old shampoo chairs. Louise worked quickly and cut my sad mop into a work of art! I told her I wanted "pretty hair" and she delivered! I feel PRETTY!!! In fact I think my hair actually looks longer now with the soft layers she put in. My hair has so much movement, feels and smells great! I'm so happy! She also took the time to describe to me what she was doing while styling my hair. I have a unique texture to my hair that makes it a little harder to style. But she made it really easy to follow. This business gets 5 gigantic stars! First, I always get a very nice reminder call from Ariane (sp. ?). She's always so friendly when I check in and check out. The owners are usually there, too, and both are always asking how I am, if they can get me something to drink (I get water every time, and you even have options - sparkling or still, and the still water has cucumber). Very sophisticated and professional before you even sit down. I came here on a whim, since it's a block away from home, and took a chance with Lauren, who is supposed to be "in training", or a "Junior" stylist. I'd never know otherwise. Lauren is kind, caring and professional, and gives the best scalp massage I've ever had, and the shampoo experience takes it to the next level. Lauren listens, explains, and I've had multiple "perfect" cuts from her, and yet each one is better than the last. I like paying the lower price, but she definitely deserves to be bumped up the rankings. I also see Amanda for my brows, and Amanda again reflects the same energy of the salon - happy, friendly, kind, caring, and professional. I came in day one wearing far too much brow filler to darken my oh-so-light brows, and my attempt at a brow shape, and now have brows that look amazing, both with color and shape! Amanda made sure I was comfortable with each thing before starting, but in all honesty, she didn't need to. Amanda knows exactly what needs to be done, and now I see her for her bit of brow "magic" every 4 weeks or so. Highly recommend the trio - brow shaping, tinting, and eyelash tinting - which was perfect pre-Caribbean trip, where I knew I wasn't going to be wearing make-up a lot of the time. Every single person at Code Salon makes you feel bubbly and happy from the moment you step in the salon, and makes sure to greet you with a warm smile and a friendly hello. I am always speechless at the end of my service when Amanda Poe gives me not only an eyebrow lift, but an instant energy and mood boost! I love coming in for a cup of hot tea, and the feeling that I just had a rejuvenating and uplifting experience in the 45 minutes that I have been here. I also love the fact that they now carry Davines hair product, and that anytime I have a question about what I am buying I can ask friendly Marianne at the service desk, any of the stylists that happen to be strolling by, or Sheryl and Louise the owners. I have been getting my hair cut and colored here for a few months now and I have nothing but rave reviews to give this salon. Lauren, who cuts my hair, is amazing. First of all, I have extremely thick, curly hair, it's very challenging to cut well. To top it off, when I first came to Lauren, I had recently gotten the worst hair cut of my life, which without her, would have probably taken a year to grow out correctly (a year where I would have hidden my hair under hats daily). By the end of my first haircut, she had transformed my hair, making it look the best it has ever looked. With each haircut, she continues to make it look better and better. Jade is my colorist. She is incredibly warm and inviting and has done a great job hiding a really hideous color job I got done with the awful haircut. She does a great job of making my hair look very natural while adding more depth for my natural brown. The salon in general is just such a pleasant experience from start to finish. They have a range of stylists with a corresponding range of rates. Everyone is very friendly and talented, and the atmosphere is modern and stylish. What can I say, LOUISE is the BEST! I have been going to Louise over the past year or so and I can't say enough good things. She always takes her time, makes suggestions about my hair and makes me feel at ease (and believe me, I am a nervous customer when it comes to my hair!). I have been a client of Jena Corvi for approximately five years. Jena is a fabulous esthetician who is simply magical when it comes to facials and waxing. Not only does she make you look your best, she also makes you feel like you're worth a million dollars. Buckle your seat belts everyone because that's not all: Jena is also a wonderful person and very easy/comfortable to talk with. I talk to her about everything, literally (I should be paying her extra for the psychological therapy). When Jena told me she was going to be working at CODE Salon in San Francisco, the first thing that popped into my head was: when is the earliest I can make my appointment? I was, of course, excited for Jena's new adventure and counted down the days for my first appointment with her at CODE Salon. I had my expectations in regards to how the salon would be, but boy let me tell you: I was blown away whilst taking my first few steps into the building. I felt as if I had walked straight into heaven! Everything was pristine and beautiful and the energy was enlightening. As Jena gave me the grand tour all I could say was "ooh," and, "ahh". Everyone looked professional and had friendly personalities to match. Beautiful salon + beautiful (inside and out) stylists = harmony. CODE Salon only uses Aveda products. As you probably know, Aveda products are botanically based and high performing. After I had my Aveda facial I felt refreshed and energized. My skin looked brand new and once again I have Jena to thank. Without any hesitation I rescheduled my next appointment with Jena and also scheduled an appointment with Louise for a haircut. Overpriced. The class of the joint is way below the money that you pay (I paid 75$ for haircut with Erica). If the price were 40 I would give them 3 stars but it's a solid 1 star. Customer service was not nice. They will talk to you while looking into their monitors or cellphones without even rising eyes on you. Overall impression is they are using "Give me your money and get out. Next!" as their motto. Atmosphere is not relaxing (which many of us want while taking a haircut break from work) - it's very loud inside, some stylists are talking and laughing as horses. Spoiled the rest of my day. Putting a high price tag on your services does not make it a classy place. read more

Courtney and Alisa=the dynamic duo! I was recommended to these two by a friend and am so grateful! Courtney (color)-As a blonde I have been through it all, the orange, the fried, all over color, highlights, balayage, etc. Courtney specializes in blondes. And when I say specializes I mean she NAILS it!! I have always wanted the platinum ice blonde hair but was always scared of the damage it would do to my hair. Courtney has completely transformed my golden highlights to the ice blonde I always wanted. And my hair has never been healthier! Alisa (cut)- The first time I sat in Alisa's chair I was not a happy camper...I hate cutting my hair, I just want it long *mermaid hair dreams*. I had extensions and they tore up my hair, different lengths all over the place (it was ugly!). Alisa was able to even out my hair and keep as much length as possible. Since this initial cut I go to Alisa for her "whisper" cut. What is the whisper cut? The best haircut ever! I kid you not when I say she goes through every strand of hair and only cuts off the damaged part. I leave with little to no length taken off but the healthiest feeling hair ever. I've been rocking the short(er) hair for a while and wanted to actually commit to short. She was able to deliver exactly what I wanted (and more) even though I couldn't perfectly vocalize it. She's an amazing stylist and will make you feel awesome! Celena is friendly, fun and talented. The digs are effortlessly chic, and smell heavenly with their Aveda product line. And best of all it's only a few blocks from the Caltrain, which makes it a lazy trip up to the city from the peninsula for a kickin haircut and lunch. Chopped off my long hair and couldn't be happier with the results. The haircut is pricey (mine was $105), which is more than I've ever paid (by far) for a haircut, but it was my impression that this is the going rate for an experienced up-scale stylist in the area. However, with high price comes high expectations, and that's the reason for the one less star. I'll have to see if the cut grows out well, and if I love it a week from now after I've been left to my own devices shampooing and styling it. After my next visit, I may ramp it up a star! read more

My experience at Code was fabulous! My stylist Erika was running a bit behind, but the salon was great - they offered me tea and I just sat and waited a bit until she was done. Erika greeted me and apologized for the delay and brought me to the chair for a consultation. Consultation with Erika was quick and painless--she's a great listener and knows how to calm nervous wrecks (me!) and get them excited about getting their hair done. She gave me suggestions as to what I should do, and what would look good with my hair type. After the consultation, it proceeded with a head massage followed by a relaxing hair wash. Then the cut began. II'm always nervous when I get a hair cut...because you never know if they actually will cut what you want. This was not the case at all. She cut exactly what I wanted without over cutting it. Finally a stylist who actually listens to what you want! Overall a great experience here with my stylist and the staff here at Code! read more

Nicky Lynch is amazing! I've been going to her for about a year now for a few cuts. Best stylist ever. She understands thick Asian texture and does it right every time. It always grows out perfectly, and is never choppy. Fringe trims are also free. Love her!! :) The rest of the salon is clean and professional. Their salon gets a lot of natural lighting which makes you see yourself in the correct light. This goes for haircuts, up-do appointments, or even make up. Natural lighting is really important. It's always very easy to book an appointment with the front desk. I've referred a lot of friends to CODE. Their Aveda tea is off the hook, and I always buy a box when I go. read more

CODE Salon is my go to for my haircut. I highly recommend Erika Hawkins. She's amazing and knows exactly what she's doing. I was concerned about cutting my hair shorter in fear that I wouldn't be able to style it as well, but she took the time to show me different ways to style my hair. She wanted to make sure that I still loved my hair on my own even when I wasn't in the salon with her doing it for me. She's a sweetheart and the salon itself is really great. They have different stylists at different price points so this place can be more affordable if you need be. I consider myself really picky when it comes to hair stylist, but there's nowhere else I would go in San Francisco for a good haircut. read more
