My teammates and I recently visited Cody's Original Roadhouse in Port Charlotte and had a great experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, fun, and perfect for relaxing after a busy day. Our server, Pulkit, was outstanding. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. His excellent service made our visit even more enjoyable. The food was delicious, and the portions were very large, offering great value for the price. The fresh salad served at the start of the meal was especially yummy, and the warm rolls with cinnamon butter were a perfect addition. Our entrees were cooked well and left everyone satisfied. Cody's Original Roadhouse Port Charlotte This place is in Port Charlotte Town Center Mall. It looks cool from the outside and even cooler on the inside. We got there on a Thursday night about 5ish. This place was hopping with a lot of people. It was neat and clean, and I loved the interior decorations. Our waitress Brenda was on the ball with our drink, our food orders, and any questions we had because of our first time there. I got a beer, and my wife got a Pina Colada, both were cold and very good. I ordered the 1lb Prime Rib med well with a side of Mashed Potatoes. My wife ordered the Filet Mignon wrapped in Bacon with a side of Baked Sweet Potato in Cinnamon Butter. For an appetizer I ordered the half stick of Jumbo Onions on a stick. Brenda stated she would bring out warm Rolls with Cinnamon Butter and a bowl of Salad that she would mix for the both of us right at the table. Our Onion Rings were very good and very large. The Salad she mixed and served on cold plates it was so good. When our Steaks came out, they looked amazing. Both are steaks were done perfect and they were so good. We could practically cut them with a butter knife they were that tender. Our side of Mashed Potatoes and the Sweet Potato was also very good. All our food was hot and flavorful. Brenda kept checking on us to make sure everything was perfect even a manager stopped by and asked us how the food was. Our food was some of the best we had in this area in fact the entire experience was one of the best yet. Special thanks out to Brenda for such excellent service and the good vibe of this place. Do not eat here-something has changed. Salad straight from a bag, including the brown slimy pieces. Tomato so old it just mushed in your fingers. Pepperoncini looked like it came out of the trash can. Horrible, horrible service and absolutely no one-including manager, kitchen manager or corporate office cared. Not a lot to say about this restaurant that hasn't been said in many other reviews. Wife and I visited for Burgers and fries and they were very good. This place is spacious, standard booths and tables, staff members are pleasant and it has the potential of being a fine restaurant. The 1 pound burger was a pretty good value. I had read a lot of reviews online and the consensus seemed to be go for the burger. It was pretty tasty. It was cooked, medium rare exactly how I wanted it. The bun was good and so were the vegetables. According to their menu online, there was supposed to be a giant slice of fried onion ring with the burger, but it seems as though they forgot to add that. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they were out of stock on giant onion rings. The atmosphere looked pretty fun. I'll probably go back. read more

Why can I not give this place a zero? Two of the six steaks ordered at the table we ordered medium rare, but came out blue rare. One of the steaks was ordered, medium rare and came out like shoe, leather chewy and absolutely disgusting. Another one of the steaks came out tasting like seafood. No seasoning on any of the steaks. We ordered another steak that was cooked way beyond well done. Some of the chicken that we ordered was tough and dry. But at least the bread was good. The rest of the food is absolute trash, just like the restaurant. The restaurant itself was filthy and disgusting. The place smelt like cockroaches. We had to ask for the area around us to be swept. It was that dirty. The seats were sticky and nasty like one of them back room, film places that nobody talks about going to, but they do. I would never go to this place again. They have a huge place / sitting. Went there Friday afternoon and there was an outdoor live music. We were party of 13 and we got group sitting area. They have special bites menu before 6pm. Their refreshment is peanuts, and they serve bread with cinnamon butter (so good!!). I got salad and coleslaw as sides as well. The sirloin steak cooked well. I'd recommend this place. They have variety of food and friendly price. Service was great as well. When we finished, there were lot of people. So we arrived on time at 5pm. read more

We had a great waitress. However the food was not good! We were a party of five, who all had a variety of things. My friend had a chicken breast that was so dry and tough that it was like leather. The bowl of salad was 95% iceberg lettuce. I would never return here!! read more

Food is average at best, seems the owners are no longer trying. Permanently out of specific dishes listed in the menu. Drinks are not very well made, specialty drinks listed as available but they also don't have the ingredients to make them. We no longer go because the last 3-4 times we were there, same items they are still out of, and the food and drinks are not worth the money. One of the times we were there there was a larger party celebrating a birthday, some children were with this party running all over, jumping on the boths. I asked our waitress about it, and to see if they could maybe not have the children screaming but evidently they were friends with the owner who didn't seem to care about tha ambiance or the remaining guests in the restaurant. Halee was a great server for our visit today. We like to get here before 6 o'clock to enjoy Cody's specials, which are of a particular value in this post-COVID era. BTW, the BOGO on beer is great as well! My wife and daughter had the sirloin. My wife's medium rare was over-cooked; my daughter's was accepted. Halee saw to it the my wife got her sirloin replaced to an appropriate medium rare. I had the barbecue chicken, which was especially tender and tasty. The salad and rolls set the table for a great experience. We enjoy visiting here and continue to do so. If there ever is a problem it is fixed promptly and politely. read more

I was given no marinara for my mozzarella sticks, no dressing for my salad, no fries in my tenders basket, and my buffalo shrimp had no sauce! My tenders were more like nuggets...not one was a strip. I had to call 8 times to get to someone to place my order. I can tell they are short staffed but damn. That's a lot of issues. There's no spot on the 'tell us what you think' part of the website to actually submit a complaint...it cuts off when it asks you to submit a phone number. The food was amazing. But the service was the best. McKayla was our server. She did a fabulous job of taking out orders and serving us. The whole restaurant works like a well oiled machine. The food is brought out by anyone available. I had the filet and steamed broccoli. Delish. The manager 'G' was very personable and also assisted in serving customers and checking in on the guests to see how their meals and service was. This was our first time there but not our last. Very busy, we went on a Friday, but we were seated with in 15 minutes. The waitress was very busy and it took another 15 minutes to get our order. She could have been a little friendlier. After we ordered food came out quickly and it was delicious. I had the prime rib and it was cooked perfectly. Overall a nice place with good food, will definitely go back. read more

Use to be an okay place to grab an early dinner when shopping. I think today was our last visit sorry to say Ordered a frozen margarita with salt . It came in a water glass looking like a slushy. There was salt all right, on the rim ok , but the bottom of the so called margarita, tasted like a salt shaker spilled. The quesadilla was luke warm . Pico was to be added inside ..... that didn't happen. The bright spot was that the sirloin special and garlic mashed were done well , albiet , they should have been hot instead of warm. The server was a jerk with an attitude the entire time. They didn't have peanuts anymore. They moved potato skins to only being available in the bar. The rolls were dry and over cooked. Our blackened fish was covered in spice but not seared or blackened at all. The medium well steak was significantly undercooked. We had to ask for boxes, rolls, water, etc anytime we needed something 2-3 times before our waitress brought it out. This was a horrible experience and enough to make it my last trip to Cody's. First time I went when they first opened Service was good just a little slow, food was mostly ok (they messed up and put sugar in the pork chop instead of salt wtf but what ever they just opened.) Food was kind of boring but not bad except for the sweet pork tenderloin sandwich. Second time service was slower they were out of some stuff and got my order wrong and my bill wrong food was cold Third time service was super slow got my order wrong food was cold place was empty at 4:30 on a Thursday It was dirty food didn't taste good servers were lazy and rude. Got there at 4:30 for dinner and was allmost late for my 6:40 movie. Seriously how could food take that long? It was litterly just 2 entrees and 2 cocktails. We never got refills on our waters for the whole 2 hours and over that time the server was only at our table 3 times He took our order He brought our waters He came and picked up the check (after I had to go to the bar and ask them to find this guy because he was gone for the last 30 mjn) (and it still took him another 15 min to come to the table after that wtf was this guy doing we were his only table) And he had a bad attitude the whole time not a single smile tried to get snippy with my girlfriend for asking questions Sighing rolling his eyes Seriously the whole place only had 10 people in it and 3 of them were not even eating just getting drinks at the bar. 7 people should not be that hard for 3 servers F this place cody's you suck! I had the sirloin steak and my wife had the 1/2 chicken. We started with the awesome house salad. The chicken was a little dry but tasted great. My steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare. This was our first and last time here. All I can say is thank goodness the tables are topped with disposable butchers paper. From the crumbs all over the seats, the gross sticky condiments on the table, to the gnats flying/landing around us, this just wasn't a good dining experience at all. As for the food... it was ok for the price (earlybird), nothing at all to write home about. Oh wait, yes there is... there are hard boiled eggs in the pale green iceberg lettuce salad. I went this evening for dinner with family and friends. We ordered drinks which when the waitress delivered to our table, they were dumped over my shoulder and into my lap .I was completely soaked through- no apologies, ever were said to me a few towels were brought to me . I sat through my meal like this and when bill came they did not compt anything off it . I had to ask to speak with the manager who never made appearance and I had to ask for the appetizer at least to be compt which was done.But really I shouldn't have even had to ask and I definitely deserved an apology. Took my mom there for something different. Food was okay, no complaints even though my T-Bone was over cooked. The waitress (Nicole) however was pretty bad. Constantly told us she would go get things (to go boxes, refills ect) then never brought them? We had to keep reminding her as she blew by. WTF!! Definitely a 180 turn from the 1 star reviews. The hell is up with the 2.5 stars I see. They served a sirloin 10oz steak felt more like a 12-16 oz steak they asked if i wanted an A1 sauce but I said sure, barley used it since i had mashed potatoes and gravy.
