I'm here in Tampa Palm Harbor for a month this time and I really needed to go to Cody's Original Roadhouse. Each time I visit here this is one of my stops. Today we encountered a new waitress Morgan who said that this is only her second week working here. Morgan was very on point from the start very attentive and excellent customer service skills. The All you can eat salad was amazing and the warm bread with the delicious cinnamon butter spread made my mouth water. My delicious and well seasoned filet mignon came out 100% perfection and no fat and great taste. The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent as well. My niece ordered the chicken and she was extremely satisfied. Hopefully the next time come back to Cody's I'll have Morgan as a waitress again. Have always driven by Cody's and wanted to try it. Finally stopped here on Father's Day for lunch. They weren't too busy, which was nice. We got seated fast. The inside has a small dining room and the other side is the bar. We had fast service. We started with the potato skins, which were very thick. They were super good and had all the toppings. I had the burger and fries, which were very juicy and good quality. My mom had the fried shrimp which you could tell refresh. Don't go within 75 minutes of closing time. The staff will be doing their side work and the kitchen will be shutting down and you will be treated like you are non-existent. We have visited this place for decades but currently would not think of stepping a foot back in there. For the $ there are too many other nice places to get a really good steak and really good service. This location needs to train their staff better and appreciate that customers have many choices and in this economy good customer service matters more than ever. read more

Our God forbid you asked to sit in a booth and not a table right in the middle of the walkway leading to a whole row of boots that are wide open with nobody sitting in them they have a breakdown. And when you ask to speak to the management because there's something not up to par they are even more rude than the staff. Now let's talk about the food average or below average. I had the fried haddock it was brown. My potato was so hard on the outside the inside portion of the potato was sweet and tender and soft but the outside was hard as a rock. Order an appetizer they put it on your table but they don't give you any small plates to eat them on you have to ask. I asked twice for spicy sauce to dip my shrimp in I never got it. Been to Cody's over the past 8 years-it is good enough to bring me back-great service, excellent happy hours specials and a good range of food to choose from. As with any steakhouse, they depend on the supplier to deliver good quality as well as the chef to cook steaks, prime rib according to request. Thus lies the problem. Had prime rib yesterday-was excellent-had prime rib a few months ago-not so good. So while the food at times is below par-for the most part they are spot on. The staff hustles, is very friendly and it's an excellent atmosphere. We will continue to go to Cody's and hope people continue as well. read more

Getting my Cody's fix over here since the one in Tampa is "undergoing refurbishment" and this is the first Wednesday in 2 months I'm not working 2nd shift, so, Free Fajita Wednesday!!! Yay! Feels a little more intimate, and the house salad is still bottomless, but the Caesar appears not to be. Rolls are pillowy and cinnamon butter is still a treat. I ordered the chicken fajitas and Hubster got the beef/shrimp combo. Plenty of onions; had to hunt for the green pepper, but still satisfying and delicious. We are definitely coming back! They said there is bike parking so I took my electric scooter to this location. I couldn't find a spot to park it and so I decided to park it along the side on a pillar at the front. After being asked how many in my party and taking me to a table, the manager named Bill took it upon himself to let me know it was a violation to have my electric scooter there and that they needed the space in the event an ambulance arrived. Mind you, there was PLENTY of room considering my scooter was tucked away. I asked: "Ok so where do I put it?" His response was "Well, you can put it somewhere in the back I don't know." Mind you I am a paying customer and his desire was to make me put it "in the back somewhere I dont know" when it is clearly advertised as "bike-friendly" and not being aware of where bikes go tells me he didn't give a crap about me when I was simply using my scooter which nobody gives me trouble about save for this one instance at Codys and Bill here. Honestly it's rather sad that I had to deal with that when he wouldn't dare talk like that if it were a party of 5 or something. Regardless, I didn't enjoy being treated like someone who's there to cause trouble when I didn't do anything to warrant the scolding I got from Bill for daring to be environmentally conscious to take an electric scooter here. Hadn't been here for awhile and not sure why it's been so long. It's hardly a classy steakhouse, but it's a fun place with a high energy atmosphere. When you arrive, there are buckets of peanuts on the table. Years ago. The thing to do was to toss the shells on the floor (just part of the atmosphere), but now they offer empty buckets for the shells. I have to admit that their house endless salad is delicious & now a favorite of mine! For dinner, Hubs had the t-bone which was done to a very nice medium rare. It seems to be missing the juicy part of the t-bone (notice the picture) but he still enjoyed it. My ribeye was done perfectly medium rare & was juicy & very flavorful. We both had a loaded baked potato as our side & they were wonderful. Just a word of caution, it is extremely loud in this place but I think that is also part of the overall ambiance. But again, it's a fun, laidback place to enjoy a steak dinner. read more

Bizarre. We were seated and waited a bit so when the server came we were ready to order. First came the rolls. I little while later, the salad - but they "ran out of tongs" so we had to figure out how to stir in the dressing and serve it with what we had at the table. Terrible experience this evening. The service was simply awful. The server was very very slow and very overwhelmed with only few tables. We watched as she aimlessly walked around before even refilling our drinks, bringing over a salad etc. At the end we went to pay our check, she took our credit cards then we sat there as we watched her deliver food several times to several tables and walking around with our credit cards in her hand not even cashing us out yet to the point where we had to walk up to the hostess stand in the front to be able to get cashed out. I've been to Cody's several times and never been disappointed. Went Wednesday and they offer bogo fajitas. My friend got one and the packed the other to go. Two of us got burgers and fries, which both of us enjoyed. Service was fast and friendly. Only downside was it was a cool evening and the air conditioning was blowing on us and everyone was cold. I have encountered the manager here this locations in several occasions complaining that I bring my own water inside, I always take my water with me because I drink the high alkaline water and I do not trust driving water from the soda machine, I was told tonight that I had to leave because I could not bring my own water in, the owner is not American, and he acts very disrespectful to customers, I drove 22 miles to St. Petersburg location and it is a much better atmosphere here and they do not have a problem with me booming in my water with me! AMAZING ISNT IT??? I wish I know who I could report this manager, at the Tarpon Springs location, it is unacceptable how he treats customers. We had a great time at Cody's, first time here. It gets a little busy around dinner time and they pack you in, tons of tables some in the middle of where you walk so get there earlier. It's a fun, messy vibe with paper table cloths and free peanuts. Happy hour is 2 for 1 beer and wine they bring you both glasses at same time. House wine was only 6 bucks, insane for 2 glasses. We got the chip trio which was good with yummy queso, salsa and guacamole but not needed with how big their dinner portions are! Big entrees come with rolls and cinnamon butter, and endless salad with garlic ranch. Was good but doesn't compare to Olive Gardens. Waitress was Alex I think and she was awesome! My meal was really good, 1/2 chicken and huge baked potato. He got a ribeye which needed more seasoning/salt. Overall was good for a not too expensive night out unless you get a steak.
