Amazing food and drinks! Their service is amazing and I came here with a bunch of my friends, they loved it as well.

Im honestly never one to leave bad reviews, I work in the food and service industry, but I think food poisoning is a issue that should be addressed. I came in Saturday night at around 6:30 asking for a grilled cheese. The guy behind the counter said the kitchen was already closed down, I understand that but the lady behind the counter was working with a different customer and agreed to make a breakfast sandwich for someone else, when I addressed that it seemed like that kitchen hasn't closed if you're able to make breakfast sandwiches for other customers he was just kinda well sorry no. I asked what else there was and he pointed out the croissants, I ordered a spinach and cheese. I never realized the croissants for display were the ones being served, cheesy pastries cannot be left to sit out more than 2 hours. That one was clearly sitting out all day because it turned my stomach and got me terribly I'll that night and the following morning. The coffee was alright, but the staff was not accommodating, they were friendly enough but couldn't be bothered an hour and a half before closing to make a grilled cheese. And you know what I get wanting to close things early to go home I've been there but serving someone bad spoiled food is never okay. read more

Hunting cabin/woodshop decor housing durn fine pastries, and kombucha on draft. Bummer the latter's Turmeric Surprise was surprisingly... dull. Please understand, I'm not a coffee drinker, and those who are will find a great deal of care going in to the hand-crafted Barismo-backed beverages poured over/cold brewed/French pressed here. I am, however, a baked goods eater, and the chocolate chip, fig, and hazelnut wonder played more like a super dense ultra-cookie than your Mama's made-with-love Toll House. Tried telling myself to only eat half, but lo, it was lunch. Boom, incredible. Perhaps my 'buch expectations were a bit high, as the promise turmeric stirs fond allusions to my homemade Fire Cider. And no, I'm not expecting that potent punch, but this fermented offering felt a bit lifeless on the tongue. Did I hit the top of an new kombucha keg, where all the tasty sediment settle the to the delicious dregs? Maybe. All I know is this batch tasted like room temp water hit with a SodaStream, a clean nickel and, well, nothing else. Please tell me I'm wrong on this! Doesn't matter. Coffee & Cotton is worthwhile. The hours are good, the food works. It's comfortable. The service is well ... ... ... A good barista takes that extra 3 seconds to make the coffee experience special. When this minuscule amount of time for a shared moment of happiness over the coffee doesn't happen you might a well just go to Dunkins. The service at Coffee & Cotton is variable. Never really bad but it is missing an identity. Somedays is it coffee cafe heaven. Mellow alternative / Jazz, we'd like you to stay a bit & enjoy your coffee moment in a comfy chair before the fire place. Other days it is Starbucks or Dunkins. Efficient, prompt, expedited. No fire because we can't be bothered for just one customer, Frank Sinatra anxsty, drink your coffee & get your B out of here. I wish they would decide. Because on the bad music mornings I sit in the uncomfortable hallway porch furniture hiding from Frank. On the welcoming mornings I sit by the fire. Go there. Stumbled across this place after a canceled jury duty in Lowell -- talk about a pleasant surprise. Big, multiple-section space, great atmosphere, coffee + beer, and surrounded by cool indie shops. Service was the only thing that felt a little off, despite it being pretty slow (mid-morning on a weekday). "Reluctantly friendly" was the strange vibe I got. Not bad or anything, just stuff like not really engaging when I asked about the history of the place (it seems to be an anchor tenant of a revamped historic cotton mill). I'd still go back though, the space itself is pretty cool. read more

I am really disappointed in the management. We were here for about 3 hours from 11:00 onward. I brought one of my employees here for coffee and a snack thinking this would be a good place to just park our butts, get some work done, and focus. To put things into perspective, we had a scone, bagel, a breakfast sandwich, coffee, cappuccino, and four drinks (cider, juice, lemonade, water). All told it was about $35. At about 1:30 we got hungry and I went down the street to get takeout. I came back and went to sit down with my meal and order some drinks. That is when the manager started complaining about outside food. They said they are a restaurant and they don't allow outside food. First, Coffee and Cotton is NOT A RESTAURANT! It isn't even close. It is a coffee shop. We didn't bring outside drinks in. We brought in Chinese takeout and we were prepared to buy more drinks which we actually did. Second, we wanted to spend all day at Coffee and Cotton. In return, we would have easily spent more money than we did. We also tip well. Third, we had just spend $35+ in your establishment. You really want to argue with us. Wouldn't you rather provide a restaurant menu? The only thing resembling a restaurant menu item is the grilled cheeses which are not that great. Fourth, I actually threw out your cappuccino. I dumped it into the trash because it tasted awful. I wanted to talk to someone about it, but no one was at the counter to address the issue. All you really care about is providing bad coffee and collecting as much money as possible from your patrons. Customer service is non existent. read more

It's been a minute since I've stopped by Coffee & Cotton and Mill No. 5 in general, but it's a wonderful coffee shop. Lots of varied places to sit, and a great place to get some work done or catch up with a friend. The coffee is of good quality as well, and there are a variety of things to snack on. Plus, you can also stroll among the many other local shops in Mill No. 5 afterwards. The only slight drawback is the parking situation -- lots of metered spots, but if you're willing to walk a bit, you may be able to find street parking somewhat close by. read more

If you want to be waited on by uninterested hipsters that seem put out by any order. This is your place. If you want to responses such as "yep" to you saying "Thank You". This is your place. Excellent stop for a sandwich before catching a movie at the Luna Theater. This is a charming and welcoming space in Lowell's Mill No. 5. I had a perfectly yummy grilled cheese. Loved everything about Coffee and Cotton: the aforementioned space is inviting, the staff is pleasant and helpful, they've got craft beer on tap (and wine), prices are reasonable, there's plenty of parking nearby. This is a solid choice for a bite, a cup of something, a place to meet friends. Just a first-rate establishment. Will definitely return. read more

Very good coffee, sandwich and dessert bar with plenty of seating in three different interconnected rooms. They make their own desserts in house; the Coconut Apricot Shortbread bar I ordered was exceptional. There is free wifi with plenty of room to spread out if you are inclined to do so. There is no table service, orders are placed at the coffee bar; your number is called when your order is ready. All in all this is a great venue for a cup of your favorite kind of coffee, lunch or for quick dessert snack. read more

Great coffee, super cool atmosphere, and a lot of plug ins for computers. My only complaint would be that some of the pre-made food isn't labeled with a price which is sort of annoying. They have board games for kids to play and highchairs! They make there own syrups and have gluten free and vegetarian food options... even a raw cheesecake. I'm always amazed at how good the service is too, for a coffee shop it's always hit or miss, but every time I'm in there the staff is very friendly. read more

Why wasn't this place open when I was in high school?! Coffee and cotton serves tea, coffee, kombucha, grilled sandwiches, and baked goods. It has a funky atmosphere with eclectic music for live bands and awesome game nights. This is located in mill no. 5 so when you get to the building, you can park in the nearby garage or on Jackson street and pay the meter (if necessary). Go down the alleyway where the 5 is and go in the elevator and take it to the 4th floor. This place is filled with cool shops, a cheese store, and a movie theater. On weekends, there's a farmers market so get your beverage and enjoy the mill! read more

Coffee and sandwich shop in Mill #5. Very good coffee and food, also they recently added beer. I would have given this place 5 stars however when then added the beer they took away a lot of the charm. The added a large counter with the six taps, removed a narrow doorway and blew everything open. Prior to this the shop had an amazing feel with a few small rooms. Still VERY much worth the trip however. Note: You need to take the elevator to the forth floor to experience all the shops and theater. read more

Coffees and teas have upgraded over the years and remain an ever-present option, while grilled cheese, baked goods and power bowls offer a more niche dine-in option, while taking in a book, board game, or even open mic talent. Coffee & Cotton is the ultimate great work place in Lowell. You want to grade some papers, write some deep screed, analyze some data, have a meeting, or do whatever it is you do at a coffee shop? You can do it here in this cool little place on the 4th floor of a mill. Their coffee is both good and unique, their food is really good (I primarily get the spicy BLT, but they do have monthly grilled cheese options!), and their beer selection is pretty good too. In addition, service is really good. In general, this is the place to be to do all the work you want to do (or if you don't want to do work, to not do work too). read more

I've been coming here for so long and everything has always been beyond my expectations even tho it's a little pricey (it was always with it) until these past few months. It started when they got rid of a bunch of things on their menu that they had has for so long and were extremely popular like the Nutella toast or their salads. I had always left their feeling satisfied and happy. Today was the worst of the days and I dont know if I will be coming here for a while. I always get the crème brulle latte and they told me they were out of it, that was fine so I what kombucha they had on tap and then they proceeded to tell me the tap machine was down. I ended up just ordering a grilled cheese and tomato soup (the grilled cheese is ok they changed the bread so it used to be so much better). Upon receiving my grilled cheese they told me that they actually didn't have tomato soup so I had to sit there and eat my sad little grilled cheese and nothing else. Very disappointed as this was a favorite spot for my friends and myself. The staff was great as always but they must have switched management or something but it really used to be such a great place in Lowell. read more

Do you love adventure? Do you love the awesome history of our New Englandiness? Do you love delectable coffee? Welp......come on down to CoCo! Stopped in this weekend and fell deep deep deep in love with this cozy nook of goodness. 1 - Located on the 4th floor of a gorgeously reborn mill building. Walking the halls felt like strolling down a covered boardwalk of beautiful storefronts (apothecaries, photographers, curators of the strange and wonderful). 2 - The initial coffee consumption area is lined with ye olde mill wood, collections of sewing table tops and kitchen chairs, two-person cubbies with cushioned seating, with warm Edison-bulb light glowing from above and massive mill windows looking out over the rooftops. Mmmm......delightful. Pass through a small corridor and wammo - you're in a large living area with a looonnngggg communal table, two small seating nooks, and two large sofas in front of a double-faced fireplace (talk about luxury). On the other side of that fireplace: a room lined with windows overlooking historical mills and filled with loads of seating options. On the day of my visit we had the room all to ourselves and felt like we were on some epic Downton Abbey set. I'll definitely be coming back to work from these splendid rooms. 3 - Food items are limited but delicious and reasonably priced {bagels, fresh breads, seasonal spreads, muffins, scones, cookies, and shortbread - you know....somethin' sweet to nibble on}. Beverages items include classics (cappuccino, cafe latte, etc) as well as seasonal lattes, local teas (White Heron!), and yummy yummy cocoa. Only note: this isn't really an in-and-out coffee kinda place. Both of my visits (coffee and cocoa to-go-go) took about 30min for parking/elevator/order/receipt of goods. Staff was exceptionally lovely company, though, which helps to make the passage of time a bit easier. read more

Delicious salmon bagel, good amount of fish on it I definitely think the price is justified (~10$). Coffee was good too but there's always a little bit of a line. Went in there when it wasn't that busy at all and they said the salmon bagel was going to take 20 mins so I left empty handed and hungry. Would definitely return though. I love this coffee shop! I get my hair done in Dracut, and I make sure on my way home I stop by here for a tasty drink! I'm no longer an avid coffee drinker, but I definitely indulge in a latte from here. It's so good! If I lived in this area, I would definitely be a regular and become a coffee drinker again. This place hands down makes the best lattes with dairy alternative milk and I love it for that! Don't believe me? Just try their hot chocolate with almond milk and say it out loud you aren't impressed. Just try to say it! You won't, because although you know you've been brainwashed to believe the fatty goodness of dairy milk in hot chocolate is the only hot chocolate, their almond milk hot chocolate is amazing! They really have perfected and love their craft for what they do. It shows in their beverages. To top it off, their food menu is great. Located on the 4th floor at Mill No. 5, Coffee and Cotton is straight up darling. Warm rustic wood everywhere, exposed Edison bulbs and in an old renovated mill no less? Ok we get it, you're adorable. It has all that coupled with an exceedingly friendly staff, a nice variety of drink and baked good options, cozy welcoming seating, and the perfect balance of quiet and white noise. This feels like an ideal place to post up with a good book, get some work done or linger over coffee with friends. Aqua Vitea Kombucha on tap, coffee from Barismo (a local roaster in Somerville), Spindrift sodas. This place is all about the local love. Fun little corners to sit in welcoming atmosphere and in an old mill that has lots of little shops and on Sunday even a farmers market! Give it a try! Don't be put off by the entrance. You have to walk in an alley and get an elevator to the fourth floor. Once you get off the elevator you'll see why it's worth the trip. read more

This hipster place was mediocre at best in my opinion. It was located in the old mills which are NOT easy to find and parking is not easy either. Navigating a baby carriage through there in order to even find the elevator was tricky. I arrived on the 4th floor (finally) to a dark hallway lined wth really neat looking boutiques. The problem was; everyone of them was closed. On a Friday afternoon. What gives? And why the dark wood? Anyway I arrived and ordered a maple latte and a bacon/egg sandwich. I saw they specified it's scrambled which is fine.. Then it arrived and it was a loaf of square "scrambled" egg that tasted like rubber. The cheese was okay and the bacon tasty so I removed the egg and had a bacon/cheese sandwich instead. The maple latte was essentially flavorless. And gross. Next to me were a few folks on laptops which is nice to see in a cafe. And a group of teens/20 somethings talking about college. Definitely hipster. And not so good at it. Hipster is FINE if you do it right and it tasted good. More effort on the food and drink and less on trying to look cool by placing your cafe in an old mill. read more

this cafe, and Mill 5 in general might be the best things in Lowell (along with cambodian food). the only downside is that it was hard to find from the street. Inside, the old woodwork, leather chairs, books, and mill woodwork were a great setting for great coffee and pastry (i had the blueberry turnover). The food is delicious but I don't enjoy the coffee or service. I was in here the other afternoon for an iced coffee. There were employees behind the counter and no one in line aside for me. no one bothered to take my order until I said something and even though I only ordered an iced coffee I need to wait a long time. It didn't seem like they were busy so I'm not sure why there were delays. People rave about their iced and hot coffee so I try to give them another chance when I'm in the mill but always regret it. read more

It was wonderful to find a non-chain cafe that's actually open late! It was the perfect location to meet some clients a few weeks back and I was pleasantly surprised, so much so that I'd drive there 25 minutes again just to go to the cafe and spend time there. I love the mill location, decor, and vibe, it's a place that feels welcoming and you're not rushed out. We were there for a good two hours and had a little nook all to ourselves, spacious common space and a few more private seating areas throughout. Service was wonderful and staff very friendly. Since it was my first time there, I had to ask around for Mill No.5 and then walk through alleyway and up an elevator, it would have been a shady place to walk through if it wasn't well lit! It looks like the Mill is a work in progress but so far the remodeling has made really great use of otherwise wasted space right in town. I hope more shops, cafes, and restaurants pop up there! My tea was superb, but I'm not a coffee drinker, so I can't say anything about that. I really liked their selection of local goodies from local farms and artisan food creators! Definitely coming back and a nice addition to my list of "great non-chain cafe to meet a client" and to support a local business! read more

Absolutely in love with this place!! Finally a coffee shop that's not a Starbucks that's actually open past 7 (they stay open until 10 most nights, including Sunday's!). The coffee is great quality and the goodies are minimal, but divine. As someone who frequents coffee shops to get work done, I especially dig that they have numerous outlets and comfy (but not too comfy!) seating and spacious tables. The staff is lovely and professional. Set to get their liquor license around January, I will for sure come here when in need of substituting caffeine for a beer or wine. read more

When my friend told me about what they were doing to the old mills, I got SO excited and came for Small Business Sundays. Absolutely love what Lowell is turning into with such character. This coffee shop is about midway through the hall of markets. I absolutely love the look and feel and how it's connected to the great seating area for a little R&R. However, I was extremely disappointed that I waited about 30-40 minutes for my drink. I counted and about 8-10 drink orders went ahead of me during that time frame while my friend's tea got out quickly. I know it's busy but that wait felt pretty ridiculous for the smallest, pricey latte ever. Not to mention, we specified for her since well... we were literally sitting and waiting but they still put it in a to-go cup. They tried to make me feel okay but they were getting stressed with me standing there. I could hear it well in their voices. I'm giving this place a 4 stars just because of the ambiance and the benefit of the doubt that this may have been a fluke considering the 5 star record from other Yelpers. read more
