This is cute little neighborhood coffee shop! There is plenty of parking in the back and in the neighborhood. I came on a Thursday night and it was packed with people hanging out, chatting, studying/on their computers, etc. There is plenty of space inside and outside and it's quite spacious. A great little study environment. (But~ maybe not the best reading environment since there weren't any plushy chairs to cozy up on. hahah~ but that's just my personal quirk!) I was enjoying my walk in Kenneth village and I walked into the commissary because I've had their cookies before and they were really good. While in line I see a box of cookies and there were about 3 flies sitting on them and moving. I ask the lady who was at the register which was a young lady that there are flies on the cookies that customers will be eating and she said with the most attitude there is nothing I can do I don't control this universe and rolled her eyes at me and went to the next customer. This place is hand down one of my favorite to get a breakfast burrito at! They have many options for food which makes it even better to have a breakfast date with friends. I always get the lil' breakfast burrito (without bacon) and it's in my top 5 best bb's of all time! You can choose how you want your eggs cooked and I always choose over hard. Their potatoes are triple fried and literally the best! They're crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making them the perfect texture. And the cheddar cheese mixed in gives it the best balance of deliciousness. All their burritos come with a side of tortilla chips which are also some of my favorite chips! This little area has a few gems in the way of eateries. I was more than happy with my vanilla latte. I venture to say, my latte was the BEST I've had in a very long time. Ordered with almond milk and it was perfection. Also ordered this huge cinnamon crescent which was delicious. Be prepared, the line moves rather slowly, but it's worth it! You can't hurry perfection. My one complaint was the cashier. She was not friendly, nor was she helpful. She hurried me as well as all the other patrons behind me. Rolled her eyes a few times because she was annoyed when people asked her questions. I would say, this place is worth coming to, but to make it even better, teach someone to smile and provide better customer service. Came here on a weekday to grab lunch and it looks super cute inside. I see a lot of people coming here to do work as well so I assume it's study friendly here. The restaurant looked very cute and they also had outdoor seating which was nice. It's located in a little town ish looking area. I got a brisket burrito and it came with chips and salsa. Some of the other reviews on here are really off the mark when it comes to customer service. They were very polite and approachable. I had no issues with hearing my name when called out or with the cashier getting my order down correctly. I honestly noticed an issue with customers being rude when visiting, not staff. The pace of the line is a little on the slower side because there is one cashier. However, I think it's because some people didn't get to view the full menu until they were in the front of the line. Maybe having a large printout or QR code at the door can help. I just looked up the menu on Yelp. If I were to rate just the food and drink, it would be a 4 instead of a 5. The Angelino burrito is listed as having habanero salsa, which made me initially think it was going to be spicy, which it wasn't. I can't blame the restaurant since it looks like most of the clientele aren't the type to eat much spice in their food. I would just change the "habanero salsa" as just "salsa" on the menu. The lavender matcha was also delicious but I wish it had a more earthy than sweet flavor. Again, it might be because of their target demographic. read more

I came by to do some work with friends and the music is so insanely loud we all made comments about it. and quite frankly, the choice of music is horrendous. Yesterday, I was with my friend, and we had a gym class. I went in to buy a bottle of water, and the young man was very rude to me. This is the first time I've been in such a situation. Coffee Commissary is so cute to come and work, and it's in the suburbs of Glendale right by Brand Park. I LOVE their pink branding, pink mugs and pink coffee bags. This place is always busy and finding a good spot is lucky if your come late, so come early and don't come on a time crunch. They sell pastries and local art, and have a full food menu that is very good. However, the coffee is not good (the man next to me was drinking Starbucks lol). The matcha, turmeric latte, chai lattes etc are pre-made and pre-sweetened, meaning you can't customize them. This makes for overly sweet drinks that are missing the earthy flavors I love and overpowered by agave syrup. I tried to avoid this mess by ordering their bottomless drip coffee, but the coffee was harsh and the oat milk coagulated in the cup (I'm not sure why that happens, but it only happens sometimes and every time it does I know the coffee is going to taste bad hahah). Anyways- go for the food, go for the ambiance, go for the free Wi-Fi and plugs- but don't go for the coffee! Three words. Best coffee ever. Worth the traffic from coming from Hollywood. Flavor and Quality: I can't explain it but the ROASTED flavor is what makes this place so unique. The coffee is still good, albeit expensive (that's just standard across LA now), but the price of the *food* is a little ridiculous for what you get. I tried the Aloha Egg Sandwich and it tasted great; perfectly cooked egg, just enough sauce, pretty unique flavors. I would absolutely recommend it, but for $14 you're really paying for a large order of triple fried potatoes with a side of half a sandwich. I literally couldn't finish the potatoes because there were so many of them, would much rather have more of the sandwich! To be fair the menu does accurately list it being on two King's Hawaiian rolls--which if you've had before, you know each one is pretty small--but you can go to Dog Haus and get a full size burger on four of them instead, for about the same price.
