Though we no longer live in the neighborhood, it's such a treat to stop here every once in a while. Their marshmallow latte is amazing! I've only had it iced. This visit I had their breakfast egg and sausage sandwich. Although I love the latte, the breakfast Sando was not impressive. The egg was about a half dollar size so the egg to muffin was way out of proportion and the sausage was kielbasa and not Italian. It could have been better. read more

This spot was popping there were tons of families sitting outside in the seating area and there was also a line to get coffee. This is usually a good sign that the coffee is bomb. The spot was super nice. The only thing is that I didn't know if the staff was being rude to me or if they were just super busy. My coffee was amazing though I got a bouquet latte with rose and lavender and it's was the right type of sweet. If you're looking for a coffee shop with different options drink wise this is your spot but I noticed there were sandwich and not too many breakfast sandwich options that were for vegetarians. I LOVE this place. This is exactly what a neighborhood coffee shop should be like. Staff is friendly, lots of tables and outlets for those who want to work or chat. Menu is long and full of options. Came here on a Friday morning to meet a friend. Ordered a decaf latte and then checked the pastry case. Everything looked amazing but ended up with the apple pie treat. Don't know what it was called but YUM. Light and flaky crust with perfectly baked apple filling. The space was clean and bright. We chose to sit at the front window because it was nice and sunny. The best part of this place though is the staff. Friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back. Need to try the marshmallow latte! read more

This past summer, I was running errands in North Center when I decided to take a break and grab some coffee. I spent all of .004 seconds searching on Yelp before I spotted Coffee Joint and the gorgeous photos people had posted on their review page. I *had* to go. Pro tip if it's your first visit: If you check in on the Yelp app, you get a free 16 oz coffee! When I stopped by, it was hot in late August, so I was able to use my check-in to grab a cold brew. Let's be real, though, I ~still~ drink cold brews when it's cold out... but that's not the point! It was pretty empty in the shop except for a few other patrons, so I sat and used their strong, free wi-fi while I drank my free cold brew and ate a lox sandwich I'd ordered off the menu (see, I didn't just take everything that was free! haha). Again, I only needed to spend about five minutes in here before I decided I loved this place! After about an hour, I began speaking to the man behind the counter, who I learned was the owner. His name is Gato. This dude rocks, and definitely say hi if he's in there while you are. Chances are he will be. My recommendations while you're here besides a cold brew is to try any latte, or grab a snack. Coffee Joint serves up some items from West Town Bakery. Gotta keep it local, ALWAYS. It may have "coffee" in the name and technically be defined as a coffee shop, but this is my favorite TEA spot in the city. I'm known for having some ineptitude for pouring tea out of teapots and often end up pouring it all over the table and/or myself, so I'm always pleased when a tea shop uses a good teapot. When I was handed a Stump teapot, I knew I was in safe hands, here! Have never had to wait. Always clean. Guy behind the counter is super nice. It's easily walkable from several bus lines and the Brown line, plus there's usually good street parking either out front or in the nearby non-permitted neighborhood. read more

I came here for an event and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was adorable. You walk in and there's a beautiful coffee maker, white brick, and the menu written in block lettering. It's easy to read and so satisfying. I immediately had about 3-4 things I wanted to try! I settled on the marshmallow latte. It spiked my interest and the barista said it was good. Oh my gosh, it was so good. It had TWO marshmallows. I repeat: two! The latte and the sugary marshmallows balanced out perfectly. I drank it so quickly because I didn't want to put it down. There are multiple seats. Some are surrounding the windows and there are a few bigger tables towards the back. It's a great place to enjoy some coffee, study or catch up on a book, and have a wonderful time. read more

Very unique coffeehouse with its signature roasts, light bites and even more sophisticated atmosphere. The décor is quirky and funky--there's a painting of map and pouring coffee. This used to be my go to place when I worked down the street on Irving Park. What's especially nice is that they're still open right now during quarantine. The owner is a super nice guy, really friendly and willing to take the time to answer questions you might have about items on the menu. Normally they make sandwiches and serve excellent baked goods. My favorite thing is that he always has a stockpile of syrups in all kinds of flavors. Roasted marshmallow latte? Perfect for the winter. Lavender vanilla iced coffee? Weirdly refreshing summer drink. The decor is cool and relaxing too so you feel welcome to hang out and get work done if you need to. Excellent little coffee joint that everyone should check out. And I have to mention on a personal note, low star reviewers, who are you really disappointed in, the coffee shop or yourself? Tried this place out for the first time today after driving by it for months. The North Center / Lincoln Square area hosts a healthy roster of great coffeeshops and cafes. That said, the Coffee Joint proves to be a great all arounder for the quintessential Chicago café experience. I'll admit that I was a bit unsure after not recognizing their beans from any other local or major roaster but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their brew. I ordered the seasonal specials, one maple and one toasted hazelnut latte and while tempted by the socially distant patio set up outside, I took them home for my partner and I to enjoy. After a nice autumn walk, I sat down and tried our selections. Instantly, my partner and I were taken back by the quality of the lattes, and had a tough time deciding who'd get what since it was so good. Now, we both drink a lot of coffee and do everything from the Keruig to Aeopress to Vietnamese brewing, and these were some of the best cups of coffee I've had all year. On top of the quality, the staff were patient and friendly, and the café itself is clean, modern, and still comfortable. A perfect fit for the neighborhood and a terrific selection to slot into your routine or just if you are driving down Irving Park. No gimmicks or kitschy theme (not that there's anything wrong with those done well) but rather just a high quality establishment. Looking forward to coming back soon and trying the food! read more

Consistently pleased and frequently delighted. They have a great espresso/americano, which is my bar for any coffeehouse (you would think). They also carry a great array of sparkling water (my other bar), pastries, and a great little sandwich selection- the salami and pickle is great! The baristas are super friendly, make a mean coffee drink, and have great taste in music. Great outdoor seating as well. This is quickly becoming my favorite neighborhood coffee joint. read more
