Really frustrating that no matter what time of the day I go here whether it's early in the morning or at random times in the afternoon like 2 PM this Whitestone location is always closed. I always check the hours online (google, yelp, etc.) and it says they're supposed to be open from 7-5 (except Sundays is 8-5) and I feel like they just open and come in whenever. To be clear, this Coffee Monster is not a destination (#1). It is however, a solid neighborhood option for a coffee meeting, caffeine hit, or a place to work and study. More importantly, it outshines its sister locations in better service, cleanliness, while offering a solid array of drinks. It doesn't look large on the outside, but the inside offers plenty of seating. I appreciate the casual yet low key vibe, speedy WiFi, and clean bathrooms. Even during their usual morning rush hour, the crowds are never too overwhelming here (#2) and it's a super ideal spot for an impromptu meeting. There are a lot of interesting drink choices that include flavored lattes (red bean, tiramisu, etc.), bubble teas, and a very strong house drip. They have a lot of classic cafe items such as macchiatos, affogato, cold brew, and matcha / chai options as well. They're mostly average to good and they're consistent with it. Those coffee light bulb jugs are creative and make for a quality photo opp The food is not often talked about, but the croffle was a big driver in getting new folks here. it was crunchy and quite complementary with the coffee. They also have a daily selection of muffins, desserts, that are solid in a pinch but not a reason to be here. Lastly, I appreciate the young staffers behind the counter. They are always patient and professional and never hassle for gratuity. I was in the neighborhood for an appointment. I really needed my morning coffee. I stopped by Coffee Monster and order the Brown Sugar Latte and the protein overnight oats (chocolate chip). Both were pretty good! The late was perfect because is wasn't too sweet, just the right amount and doesn't taste artificial. The oats kept me surprisingly full. However, if you're not used to protein in your oats nor enjoy the consistency of overnight oats you may not like it, but I do so I enjoyed it! read more

Chill vibes with good amount of seating. 12/14/22 - House Drip is dark roast from DeMarco. It's super dark and taste kinda like an espresso. Nutella croffle is good. Awesome cafe to grab a drink or a small bite. They even have shaved ice dessert items on their menu as well. The pricing on the items are fair for the portion size. I've been here multiple times to get work done and they have ample outlets available along the walls and fast Wi-Fi. Also a great spot to catch up with friends. Awesome neighborhood coffee shop with clear Korean inspired products. We tried the Red Bean Latte (non-espresso), Toffee Mocha Latte, and a plain Croffle. The Red Bean Latte had nice subtle red bean flavor and although sweet, it was an enjoyable treat. Definitely not what you would get when in need of a caffeine boost but it is a nice option for those that do not want coffee drinks. The Toffee Mocha was also smooth and well balanced. The Croffle is really just a croissant griddled in a waffle iron and topped with powdered sugar. Sounds simple, but the crispiness that the waffle iron creates with the buttery layers of the croissant is something magical. I'm probably going to do that with my leftover croissants from now on. read more

The staff all look like they may have voted for Biden. But put aside politics for a second and they were all honestly really nice and I didn't feel uncomfortable ordering from them. My partner ran in while I waited outside. He ordered the mango bubble tea and I ordered the tiramisu iced latte. Felt like it took awhile but I had plenty of time and didn't mind a slight wait. Both drinks were delicious! It's a little pricey but totally worth it for the tasty flavors. Coffee Monster is pretty much a Northeast Queens chain at this point, but this is such a great addition to the area, which was in dire need of a coffee shop/cafe. This and the Murray Hill shop are probably my favorite--both locations have a welcoming environment to chill, although the Murray Hill location might be filled with ajummas and ajosshis at times, just because it's in a busier area. I really enjoy their coffee and lattes--they have a variety of lattes outside of your average matcha and café lattes, like red bean, sweet potato, and cookies & cream, and I don't believe this location charges extra for almond milk! Compared to their other locations which are bigger, I think this one's setting is a lot more quaint and intimate, given the location that it's in. read more

I've been a fan of Coffee Monster since they opened their tiny first location and introduced NYC to the real milk snow shaved ice that hails from Korea. And with visits to their other location in Murray Hill, we stopped by this latest location in Whitestone yesterday. A medium sized location, enough seats and their usual offerings - this is a great addition to the local neighborhood and on a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty much at capacity. This location also offers board games for free play, so something a bit different outside the busier locations. Their shaved ice (bingsu) is always a must. And albeit the higher price of $19.50, the size is Monster, and very big - larger than all other cafes offering bingsu. My go-to is always the 15 Grain (Misugaru) which is the most classic option. So good once all mixed together and slightly melted! Also recommend - the freshly made Croffles - so delish! read more

This is a very cute coffee shop in the neighborhood. It has a large selection of drinks. We stopped by here a couple of times for their Nutella coffee. It is my husbands favorite. I had the mango slush. It was really good. Has good mango flavor and it's not watered down by the ice. The mango was also ripe so it had the sweetness of the mango. I have also tried their milk tea. We were intrigued by the bulb shaped bottle. My sisters favorite is they taro milk tea. The first time she had it with the boba the boba wasn't cooked all the way so it was kinda hard. But we ordered it a second time with no boba. I have also tried their shaved ice. I had the red bean shaved ice. It was really good. It had red bean and mochi. They are very generous with the red bean. The red bean was sweet and the mochi was soft. The mango shaved ice was also really good. read more

There's been a lot of Coffee Monsters that have been opening up and it was surprising to see this one open so closely to a residential area compared to the others that have opened in the main roads. My to go drink is the Iced 15 Grains Latte with a shot of espresso. Unfortunately, I find that their other drinks, like Poisonade, are too sweet and artificial tasting for me but their coffees are solid. Their macarons are also decent but I personally would not recommend the Wedding Almond flavor. It looks pretty but it has that artificial almond taste. But hey, if that's what you like, go for it. This location is spacious and has plenty of tables and seats so if you need to grab some coffee and do some work, this place is just the place to be at. read more

This is the crown jewel of the Coffee Monster fleet. After seeing the Northern Blvd location go from my favorite office away from home to complete disarray to closure, I started spending more time at this location and at this point, my sample size of visits/products is large enough to effectively comment. What stands out about this location up front is the Crew, which is consistently excellent in every regard. They take and fill orders with a high degree of precision, even in high volume circumstances, and they often run orders out to the dining area (Which almost certainly exceeds their purview). Management is very involved in operations here, which is evident in details such as cleanliness of the dining area and bathroom, as well as the quality and appearance of prepared drinks/food items (More on that below). I would venture from my combined experiences at all CM locations that this one is by far the most effectively managed/operated location, and the fact that their tip jar is overflowing every time I come in speaks volumes (It is more than well deserved). Drink orders are cleaned prior to delivery if necessary, and food orders score points not only for quality ingredients, but presentation. I rolled the dice on a spicy chicken panini here recently and it tasted as good as it looked, a reasonable value for the price. Iced coffee, croffles and iced cream here are outstanding. As for the bubble tea - the "Tea" part is rich and sweet, but the bubbles are like chewing on mini tapioca flavored golf balls, so if you like them extremely firm, you will find yourself pleased. Lastly, Wifi is super fast, seating area is comfy and parking is plentiful with minimum local enforcement. read more

Would give this location less stars if I could. Walked in today about 6pm. Ordered an iced caramel macchiato, spicy bulgogi and a cinnamon croffle and sat down. Coffee was done. Got up and got it. Sat back down. Guy at the counter brought my croffle to me. In a brown paper bag and just tossed it on the table and walked away. My husband got up and asked why it wasn't given on a plate and he gave him some story about how plates go missing so they stopped. He gave him a plate and turned away. Now, croffle usually have whipped cream and such. So without it, plate means nothing. So I left it. Shortly after, a female worker who was mopping the floor asked if all was okay. We said no. Explained what was wrong and she said sorry all while laughing and smirking. The guy brought my husband's bulgolgi, we addressed the issue with the croffle, he took it back and that was that. Shortly after, another was made, but was given to another set of individuals two tables over. So I was not given a new one. Nor was a given a refund for the one he took from me. When it was addressed. he than smiled and smirked in my face as if it were funny. I have never felt so disgusted and disrespected as a customer. And by someone claiming to be a manager. I'm so happy this place opened up literally just a few blocks from my house! I can't say much for their other location, but this location has been solid the past two times I went. It's nice because it's also in a residential area so it wouldn't get as crowded as other coffee shops I frequent if I wanted to get work done (*cough cough* Bean). It's the perfect place to get work done especially because of how spacious and open the space is! The chairs are also super comfy, which I appreciate if I'm going to be sitting for hours. I got an iced americano for my first time and it was good! Nothing to complain about here. I also got a hazelnut brittle macaron even though I don't have much of a sweet tooth. It wasn't too sweet, which was great. I couldn't taste that much hazelnut and maybe cause I love hazelnut and I wanted to more of the flavors, but not bad! Second time around, I got just a regular iced coffee and a chicken croquette thing. Their coffee is definitely pretty good. I wanted to try out their regular coffee with milk even if I try to not drink too much dairy and it's good and creamy! The croquette thing, however, I would pass on next time. It's pretty dry and not very crispy. That's fine though, they're a coffee shop not a bakery. I'm just happy this place opened up at a walking distance for me. Nice study spot and because it's located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, free parking isn't that hard to find. Main downside is that the bingsu is so more expensive than that sold at other Coffee Monster locations. If you are with less than four people, I would not recommend getting the monster size, only because it was just so much. read more

This is a nice and quiet cafe in the Whitestone area. I've been looking for a quite coffee shop in the College Point/Whitestone to work at and this is a great place. There is a wide selection of drinks and good options for food. I had the Croffle which was quite good. Staff was very friendly and professional, and very cautious about sanitation. While I was there, I saw them disinfect every table after the customer left. The chairs were definitely some of the most comfortable chairs I've sat at in any cafe. Would recommend for anyone looking for a quite cafe to sit down for coffee with friends or to work. Hours need to be updated. They are open from 7am-9pm. read more
