I stopped in grabbed two muffins hopped in my car took a bite of the blueberry muffin had instant regret put that down and gave the banana nut muffin a try and it was equally horrific. My gripe is the muffins taste store brought they are also wrapped in plastic wrap which either the muffins themselves or the plastic wrap in which they use smells of an assortment of foods. They taste just plain bad and if they are in fact store brought and repurposed as their muffins then charging $7 for two muffins is robbery. Can't speak for any of their actual menu items as I didn't try anything else but judging by their choice to serve these muffins I question their food and would likely never return. This little spot is always my go to for breakfast food when I'm at my bfs place. Decent prices, yummy food. Nice little variation of Korean style sandwich's as well. Love their coffee and the fact they melt the amount of sugars you want when you order iced coffee so it's not grainy. My iced coffee is always perfect! Anything you order is good but I do like the "Monster" sandwich jalapeños AND pickles and the "Cajun" omelette on a toasted sesame seed (or everything) bagel with a hash brown. You have to request salt and pepper otherwise it will obviously taste a little bland. They do not take card so please always bring cash! They're only open till around 2PM but I love that they're still doing breakfast until then since I'm not technically a morning person. They are a small owned business, very kind and polite. If you're looking for a quick pick up this spot is good, but honestly you can get better food at a local deli. The portions are pretty small and they tend to be really cheap with the ingredients (such as bacon). I have tried both Java day locations and don't really have a preference for either. This location has only two seats, so not good if you are looking for a sit down place. The one on northern has more seating, but personally I don't think the portions nor the value are better than a standard deli. read more

This was my go to spot before I went to Houston. I had come back here on a visit to NYC and was happy to see that this humble mom and pop bagel store was still doing well. They quickly remember who I was even after 4 years and struck a friendly conversation. First off, they make everything fresh here including the cream cheese. I love their style of bagel. Crispy on the outside and goey in the inside. The vegetable cream cheese was delish ! Whenever I am in town I am always going to find myself coming back here. This has been a hometown comfort for me, not simply because it's familiar but because I love the bagels. I also had iced decaf coffee which was right on the mark! Excellent! There is a reason why I got these bagels everyday on my way to work. I wish I could bring back this bagel shop back with me to Houston ! If you are getting a bagel the veggie cream cheese is a must ! Average is best way to describe this place. In my opinion, everything about here is just average, the food taste,service, portion size, inside of restaurant, price,etc. Everything is average and normal. Now there is nothing wrong with being average , but this place most likely thrives not because of their menu items but because it is in a good location where there is a lot of traffic from people everywhere on cars. A pro is that this place does have a homey vibe as it is a mom and pop store. Food tastes like if I made it at home, not good not bad. Alright. awesomeness owner is very pretty and nice and from my hearing she is bilingual the only languages i heard were english and korean but anyway her staff were awesome very respectful even tho i am pretty young i love the vibe i. there and the food was delicious and the coffee was good as well but bitter . Nothing cures a hangover quite like a greasy breakfast sandwich. This is my go to spot when I'm back in my old neighborhood. First off, THE ICED COFFEE is on another level. Its so good that I can no longer order iced coffee from anywhere else. The breakfast sandwiches and bagels are great. They're cheaper than most delis around the neighborhood. The young girl working the register is always friendly with me and she seems to be running the place like a boss. Girl, your hair is always on point! Parking is annoying. CASH ONLY!!! From the other reviews, I expected to be going to a place I could sit and be served a nice leisurely Sunday breakfast. Java Day is not that place. It is, essentially, a bagel take-out. On the plus side, there were 4 people really hustling behind the counter on a busy Sunday. On the minus side, there is only a counter with a few stools. You get your food wrapped in paper and you don't get a plate to eat on. I am always leery of ethnic foods served in places where the staff is of a different ethnic group from the establishment. Bagels are an ethnic food. Flushing is now made up of many people of a different ethnic group from those who consider bagels to be something babies teethe on; perhaps because of that, I didn't find their bagels to be particularly noteworthy (too light and airy) and their idea of "toasted" was a few shades lighter than mine, which is to say their idea was warm without any change in color. The background music was predominantly jazz and torch songs at an appropriate volume, which my husband and I really enjoyed. There also seemed to be a number of regulars coming in and greeting/being greeted by the staff. They had 6 kinds of bagels available and several empty bins; it smelled like they were baking more. In addition to bagels, they had 4 kinds of muffins, croissants, other baked goods, sandwiches and eggs. Prices were low. Go if you're looking to bring stuff home for breakfast, but not to eat there. read more

If you're looking for a mediocre bagel and coffee to start your day, you can go here. Their bagels are not extraordinary but merely decent. Their coffee taste watered down, 95% of the time. Everytime I order a flavored coffee, they always overdose on the creamer and it's overwhelming. In the recent months, they've increased their prices but I don't think the quality has improved with it as well. This cafe used to be a great place, but they seem to be going downhill. My favorite breakfast spot in Bayside/Auburndale area. Cheap, delicious, and huge variety! You can pretty much order anything and it'll taste good here. Used to think their bagels were amazing, but I think the recipe changed or something... It's not as fluffy as it used to be. Their cream cheese though, you've gotta try! It's got a light airy texture like its whipped, and a unique taste to it. Nice change from always tasting Philadelphia cream cheese. Coffee is only ok, which is why I usually order to go. Ima letchu finish - but this place makes the best bagels OF ALL TIME. Being from New York my whole life, I know good bagels. My favorites used to be Whitestone Bagel Factory and Bagel Oasis, and they're still close runner ups, but the bagels here are top. Huge, fresh, soft boiled bagels cooked to absolute perfection. Not sure why people are giving low reviews because there is no "seating" ? This is a bagel shop where you essentially order your breakfast/lunch, eat, and be on with it. I work nearby so a lot of times, I come here for my breakfast sandwiches and iced coffee. It's always on point. The lady at the counter is always super friendly, and she recognizes me (and the other usuals) enough to know my orders. The food is always fresh, bagels are always crispy on the outside and nice and steamy on the inside.
