I admire local cafe spot like Coffee Nature. On top of it being a space where it is community-oriented, I can also tell that the workers here really care about their customers. Wanting to pop in, I ordered the iced tea as a pick-me-up. Although there isn't much to alter a standard iced tea, I thought it was pretty clean to try (if that makes sense?) Inside of the cafe, there was plenty of seating where people worked on their laptops (and super quiet too). If I'm ever in the area again, I will be open to try more of their drink options! read more

I visited Coffee Nature one morning before a meeting at Georgetown Day School. The cortado was solid and arrived fast. The sandwich had good flavor but was heavier on the bread than the egg or meat, which isn't quite my preference. The shop is tucked just off Wisconsin Ave NW, one of the few local coffee spots in Friendship Heights. There's a cozy vibe with local are inside and patio seating out front. They brew Seattle's Ugly Mug beans, which is a cool touch. I also tried a Nutela latte and a chocolate chip cookie. The latte was decent, but the cookie was unfortunately dry. A nice, neighborhood coffee shop on Wisconsin Ave and Fessenden St. They have half a dozen tables inside and a few outside. I've had a few of their sandwiches and smoothies and have enjoyed them all. They have a few Korean fusion options as well. The service is fast and prices are reasonable. A truly superb little cafe that features a delicious, unique menu and local art and music. This was perhaps our best find this year and remains a favorite breakfast spot. In addition to the expected cafe menu items, there are a few Korean lunch options and some stand-out fusion items like the Bulgogi egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. Service is always friendly and quick, and they will even bring your food out to you if you sit at an outdoor table. There are a handful of tables inside and several more tables on the lawn outside, with overflow space in front of Sol and Pete's. Even on busy weekends we've been able to find a table. The crowd seems to cover all generations and gives it the feel of a true neighborhood space, which I love. Highly recommend! read more

I decided to work here for the day after finding it on Yelp! This is a neighborhood coffee shop very near a lot of schools right off of Wisconsin and Fessenden. It's small, homey, but well laid out. They utilize the space well and it's not cluttered or dark even though the windows are only at the front (they do take them to the roof, so that helps)! The menu is lovely and appears to be enough that everyone could find something- well except for a gluten-free, sugar-free vegan, but what do they eat anyway?- and not too much that they don't do it well. I tried the bulgogi, egg & cheese on an everything bagel. It was surprisingly hot and very well balanced. I like bulgogi and it was not odd or unusual on a bagel, but it was a bit sweet. The marinade is soy sauce but they definitely add rice wine vinegar and sugar to it as well. It needed onions or Hot sauce (for me) to balance the sweetness but it was actually amazing. I was pleasantly surprised. I always start with an americano as that's my standard- espresso and water lol. Their espresso might be weaker than some OR they just use a lot of water (it was a way bigger cup than I expected for a Medium), either way I'd order light water or an extra shot if you prefer a stronger drink. I do. I went back a bit later for a nip and tried a lemon almond poppyseed muffin. I couldn't place my finger on the issue- the muffin LOOKED SO GOOD, but was disappointing. I'll allow that lemon poppyseed is difficult and many people have preferences for sweeter muffins, which I hate. It was well textured, fresh, and with a nice crumb (not too dry nor too gummy) but it was slightly sticky and sweeter than I prefer. I'd love to try the rest of the menu, they have a ton of custom lattes and their menu items ranges from avocado toast to Buffalo chicken! It's near the schools, as I pointed out, so there is a lunch pop of high schoolers spending $$ for lunch lol but the kids were polite and not unreasonably loud and I just took a writing break to start this review ;) Overall, if this were my neighborhood, I'd LOVE to sit here writing and working. The prices are reasonable and the staff is not overly friendly, but definitely NICE- willing to talk, but not in your business or asking questions. It's truly an introvert haven. The parking situation is what it is- 2 hour street parking unless you're Zone 3. Otherwise, you can pay to park on the lot behind the coffee shop or do metered parking on Wisconsin, which is definitely touch and go. 5/5 read more

Great local spot in the southern pocket of Friendship Heights. Came on the weekend so I lucked out with parking just off in the neighborhood, but I could see it being slightly difficult looking for something on Wisconsin during the weekday rush. Pretty wide spread of teas available, and the coffee ain't bad. I think I've just seen so many leaf variants of latte art that I jump for joy when I see something else - but that rabbit is objectively cute on its own. There's a wide hitting selection of wraps and sandwiches, plus breakfast before 11 includes omelettes. Like others have said, there's Korean peeps running the show so those dishes are here is well - bibimbap, japchae, plus bulgogi fused into other dishes like their omelettes and quesadillas. The outside is a little run-of-the-mill, but Coffee Nature really has a lot of character. I know I'll be back sooner than later. read more

This is a place for the neighborhood to frequent on lazy mornings. This is not a place for the bougie (like myself). My ideal coffee spot is Dua or Peets on 14th. Classic, airy, barista-style. A few scattered plants, lots of space, areas to sit and people watch, clean wooden floors, gourmet pastries baked that morning. This is not that place. It reminds me of my great-grandmoms house because she just accumulates stuff and never throws anything away. Don't get me wrong, the latte was delicious! Coffee Nature is a Friendship Heights/Tenleytown neighborhood treasure. This is my go to spot for excellent drip coffee. It's everything you'd want in a local coffee shop: good food and coffee, reasonable prices, charming mellow music, many outlets and desks, reliable WiFi, and it's just cozy and casual inside. They feature local art and update their menu with delicious seasonal beverages. There are many regulars who stop by on a daily basis to indulge in their bagel sandwiches, freshly roasted espresso, and sweet treats. I so appreciate that at this point the staff know my order, and that they provide excellent service to each and every customer. It's a local spot but not at all exclusive. I've never witnessed the staff be anything but warm, patient, friendly. They're also so quick with their service! They get through the lunch rush with such ease...it amazes me! Support coffee nature, this is the best spot in the area for casual lunch, coffee, and tea. Just a ten minute walk from either the Friendship heights station or Tenley station (conveniently located in between). I didn't think it was possible, but I'm learning to love this place even more. About 5 hours ago I stopped by "on the way" and was reminded of just what a special treat awaits when you enter Cofffee Nature. In addition to a wonderful tuna sandwich, I decided to address my craving for some "chocolate chai" tea. A sample was quickly whipped up for me and it absolutely blew me away....smooth and unforgettably outstanding in both aroma and taste. The sensation took me back to my habit of ordering the exact same, years ago, in another city....but this was even better. "On a scale of 1-10, it's a 27", was my immediate feedback after the delightful sample. As my full order was being prepared, I was able to slow down for a moment and relax in the corner, while also devouring the wonderful 1960s jazz that was playing....a big "mistake" because then I wanted to stay the afternoon! Maybe next time I'll do just that....and it won't be a mistake! The woman behind me in line, with two small children, joined me in taking it all in, commenting that she'd seldom seen a customer enjoy "a simple sip of tea" so much. Her kids froze and smiled also, as we basked in the shared momentary joy. (Happy kids are a contagious treat as well, aren't they?) They make cute latte art!! That's how I found this place. I saw that they make cute latte art in their coffee so I decided to drop by. It's a small coffee shop with a few tables and chairs, but their menu is pretty expansive. Along with typical coffee and sandwich menu, they serve Korean inspired dishes like rice bowls and bulgogi quesadillas. I was overwhelmed with the menu and my indecisiveness led me to order a Commuter Breakfast Sandwich, bacon, egg, cheese, and tomato on a croissant. It wasn't a bad sandwich, just a little small and flat. I wish I had ordered something more creative. I also ordered the Ghirardelli latte and received it in a big mug with a bunny rabbit art. It was so cute that I didn't want to kill it, but I had to and it was delicious! The staff is really friendly and they don't mind you just chilling there. I like this place because there is street parking (make sure to read the signs)! The Nutella latte is the best one I've tried around town, and they always have donuts on hand if you're into that. Their bulgogi is not very good, I would not order this. However their egg and cheese bagel hit the spot, bagel was fresh. Wifi available, and haven't had a problem yet landing a seat. I had some time to kill before meeting someone up by AU and after looking through options on Yelp, I saw the cute latte art at Coffee Nature and had to stop in. Looking over the menu, I was pretty intrigued by the bulgogi quesadillas, but stuck to a small Ghirardelli mocha latte. The coffee base is not the smoothest I've ever had, but it was pretty strong and the richness of the chocolate really elevated the drink from good to great. The latte art was so cute that I almost felt bad about drinking it, and for the first few minutes while I was doing my readings, I'd just kind of look at the cat face drawn into my latte and smile. The shop is small, homely, and quite popular, drawing local workers, college students, and a tutor with her middle school tutee. By the time I left, it was busy to the point that after I vacated my table, two people immediately sat down. I was pretty amused by the upbeat jazz versions Christmas tunes in February, but generally the music was listenable and unobtrusive. I wish a cute, locally owned coffee shop like this existed down by my school (though then again, I'd probably be there all the time, just throwing my money at them, so it's probably for the best that Coffee Nature is far away). read more

The coffee is good and strong, with the beans ground specially for each order. The hubs and I stopped by to grab a quick bite to eat - I had a Soy Latte (I requested a latte art of a 'bear', and it was honored - it was super adorable!; the latte itself was pretty strong, but be sure to sweeten it up if you wish) and a Gang Nam BBQ Chicken Panini (you can choose your bread, so I opted for ciabatta; this came with marinated cubes of grilled chicken with 'Gangnam BBQ' sauce (similar to a Korean red pepper paste, but more thin in consistency) - the menu stated the sandwich contained provolone cheese and spinach, but mine only contained lettuce; the sandwich itself was pretty good, but I just wished it was served more hot, considering it was a panini; also note that you choose between chicken or pork as your choice of meat (when asked for a recommendation, the owner/barista stated 'it didn't really matter' (...okay...)) - the chicken was lukewarm, but the ciabatta was thin and crispy, which I really liked). The cashier was super friendly and sweet, but the hubs and I felt a little uncomfortable as when she was trying to let the cafe owner/barista know about the various orders, he was a little too short with her and was pretty mean T____T The cashier was able to laugh it off a little bit, but we felt super bad... I love this place. It's tucked away but a solid option for coffee or a light lunch. The location is perfect -- it fills the gap between the three Starbucks on Wisconsin in Friendship Heights and Tenleytown, so it's also the only game in town, so to speak. I'm a big fan of the buffalo chicken wrap. Lots of specialty coffee drinks, though I'm an iced tea man myself. Joseph, the owner, is friendly, and his staff is incredibly prompt and diligent. I'm impressed with the Korean food offerings, as well. Worth checking out. read more

I'd like to give this cafe 4 stars for its unique and thorough food and drinks menu. There are tons of snack to choose from, too. Plus, there are lots of spots to hang out and stay a while. However, I had to dock this review two stars because of two very noticeable facts: the high prices and the frowning cashier/barista. I've never seen such high prices for drinks -- including in New York. Plus, the guy working there did not seem happy at all. I mean, maybe he wasn't happy. But please fake it a little bit. read more

This review is for coffee craft only, as this was all we were interested in this morning. This little gem was stacked with regulars all sipping from there own house cups. The music was perfect volume and the counters were clean and well lighted. The barista was quiet but focuses and very skilled in his craft. The espresso i ordered was bright and smooth with a slight citrus finish. Lots of crema meant it was fresh, accurately dosed and perfectly tamped. The latte for my love was creamy and delicious. Perfect sipping temperature and finished with a little latte art. It took him no time at all to create the magic and served it with a smile. Small critique because there is always room for improvement. The milk wand was soiled with old milk. The cafe itself was a little cramped. Plenty of seating but no way to get to most of them. The menus are all crystal clear but featured on an endless panel of television screens. Most of the coffee shops I love have chalk and plenty of art. The were clear and descriptive though. While dropping off our car at the mechanic in Chevy chase, we decided to drop by this spot for a quick meal. While most coffee shops were heavily packed without a spot to sit on a Saturday morning, this place still had some seats left at 10 am. We ordered the bulgogi steak egg and cheese on ciabatta and sourdough. It really hit the spot. Well toasted and the eggs were so soft and oozy. I also noticed bibimpap on their menu but didn't get a chance to try it. We also ordered a coffee which was really good as well.
