I love this place. It's tucked away but a solid option for coffee or a light lunch. The location is perfect -- it fills the gap between the three Starbucks on Wisconsin in Friendship Heights and Tenleytown, so it's also the only game in town, so to speak. I'm a big fan of the buffalo chicken wrap. Lots of specialty coffee drinks, though I'm an iced tea man myself. Joseph, the owner, is friendly, and his staff is incredibly prompt and diligent. I'm impressed with the Korean food offerings, as well. Worth checking out. read more

This stretch needs coffee shops so bad, so I was pleased to see coffee nature. Sadly, it is very small, with very little seating. There is a ton of space in back being taken up with boxes - c'mon man! Give us some more room! It can be hard to grab a seat, but if you get lucky, it's a pleasant place to sit and enjoy. Nice colorful walls are sure to brighten your day. The iced coffee is refreshing, a step above your standard roast, good flavor. Even better is the decadent nutella latte. Many places have tried this one in recent years, and my sweet tooth always perks up when I see it on menus. I had to give it a try. I was not let down, as I am confident saying this is the best nutella latte in town. It is packed with the flavor of that sweet stuff, perfectly balancing the coffee and nutella flavors. If you're looking for dessert with your caffeine kick, I could not recommend it higher. They also offer fruit, pastries, and several Korean entrees, which has me very intrigued. Not enough good korean in DC proper, I would love to come back and give it a try. read more

While dropping off our car at the mechanic in Chevy chase, we decided to drop by this spot for a quick meal. While most coffee shops were heavily packed without a spot to sit on a Saturday morning, this place still had some seats left at 10 am. We ordered the bulgogi steak egg and cheese on ciabatta and sourdough. It really hit the spot. Well toasted and the eggs were so soft and oozy. I also noticed bibimpap on their menu but didn't get a chance to try it. We also ordered a coffee which was really good as well. Will definitely recommend and stop by again next time we are in the area. read more

Coffee Nature is much better than the Starbucks in Tenley and Friendship Heights which are often too busy and loud to get some serious studying or writing in.The place is small, but there is always a seat open which is perfect. They have live music and comedy on Saturday afternoons, and the shows are kid and family friendly. Have yet to make it there on a Saturday afternoon, but am looking forward to it. read more

I wanted latte art so so so so badly so my boyfriend and I came here to fulfill my dream. It's your typical cozy little place with patrons already inside who have seated themselves in the most unhelpful way for anyone else entering the shop. I thought the meny was pretty expansive and we both settled on bulgogi sandwiches. It arrived on regular sandwich loaf bread (we both totally though it would be a sub loaf or something), which was a surprise, but didn't detract from the taste. Little background - bulgogi is pretty low on my list of Korean "Likes" since it's almost always too flimsy and just such a smaller deal than its bigger cousin, kalbi. However, this place did it right. It was just sweet and meaty enough that I was scrambling to pick up large pieces that fell out onto my plate. The mocha latte was delicious and the art simply adorable. The little bear stayed until basically the very last drop. I found this cute little gem and I couldn't be happier. I hate big brand coffee shops because it's so busy and hectic and it's rare to find workers who are joyful. This place is definitely a cozy shop but enough space for you to work with a plastic inside or even outside patio. All the workers seems genuinely nice and wants to connect with you. All the workers seem to have a tight bond and genuinely happy to work with each other. If I have to work at a coffee shop I would definitely want to join this team. There's also free magazines and books for you to browse as you drink a cup of joe. All the sandwiches are freshly made as you order, it's not a frozen microwave meal. It taste very homemade and healthy. This time I only got breakfast sandwich with dirty chai. They were both really delicious. I also loved the soft music playing in the background. What a lovely spot! I wish I lived nearby so I could frequent this delightful shop more often. It's got a TON of choices for breakfast (sandwiches with fresh veggies and eggs to plated omelettes with bacon and cheese), lots of lunch options, many with a Korean spin. The coffee is abundant and delicious; I had an iced coffee. It was so smooth and had a great mocha-java profile. The breakfast sandwich was great: provolone, spinach, tomato, and egg on dry sourdough toast. Really yummy and filling. The place is cozy and has nice art work. Quit a few tables as well as outdoor seating. Street parking was pretty easy at 845 am. The service was unbeatable: the young girl who waited on me was pure sunshine, taking notice I was new, explained the menu, and was just very sweet and friendly. We do not live in a good neighborhood for cafes - there's Starbucks galore, and Tynan Tea (which is like having coffee in Bloomingdales) so you can imagine my happiness at finding Coffee Nature -- it's tucked behind Pete's New Haven Pizza (so don't worry if you can't find it at first...). And I do admit that some of my enthusiasm about Coffee Nature comes from the fact that there's a real, live indie cafe in our otherwise fairly corporate 'hood. They have a great selection of coffees, teas, sandwiches, breakfast foods - and the best part is that their admittedly small outdoor seating area is really pleasant. The only downside is that they close really early, by cafe standards, so don't plan on a night-cap espresso here (they are shut by 6pm). read more

I have been a long time customer of Coffee Nature and enjoyed going to a small, non-franchise place whenever I was in the area. I go to school next door and would buy a coffee drink, candy, and the occasional sandwich. All of the products were ok, nothing to write home about, but I continued going for the small local reasons. Sadly that ended today. I went with my classmates as always and we brought out lunches and sat at an outdoor table. One of us bought a sandwich there. After I finished lunch I walked in to order some espresso drinks for my table. Before I could order the young lady who said she was the owner told me I should not bring my food and that I shouldn't come back. It was very strange. She said the seats were for paying customers, which I get, which is why I walked in to buy some stuff. Apparently ordeing coffee and snacks at least once a week for the past 10 months does not qualify me as a paying customer. Would I sit at other coffee shops, order coffee and eat my own food? Yes. If I was at starbucks, swings, cosi, pound, peregrine, any other place this would not come up. I have done this at many other shops. Since we moved to the neighborhood, I wanted to try this place and I finally did so a few weeks ago. It was very disappointing to say the least. First impression: dirty. Plates and cups left on the tables with crumbs. Owner and the waitress were sitting in the back, checking their phones and computer. The music was extremely loud. Jazz was playing, which was nice though. I had a tea (overpriced) and decided to sit by the door. The armchair was so dirty... I kept my raincoat on... Bug crawling on the floor... Music was so loud, I asked the owner if he could lower the sound a bit. He did. I decided to leave as the whole experience was sickening. read more

It also appear very cluttered, with the previously mentioned drink refrigerators still taking up a lot of space, plus seven plasma screens behind the bar with their entire menu; I'm as visual a person as the next guy, but I don't think these are necessary and they detract from the look of the place. Additionally, because the back of the establishment is so chockablock with inventory, the staff were using three of the tables in the small drinking/dining area. On a more positive note, they have upped their espresso game, using PT's coffee from Topeka, and their barista art can't be beat (I had a bunny on my latte). Also, if you're looking for a bibimbap fix in the vicinity, this is the place for you. read more

I really liked it here so it's unfortunate I'll never be back. I wasn't sitting here any longer than 15 minutes before an extremely rude women began taking over the space to set up her band. I was trying to get some very important work done and wasn't made aware by staff that I was sitting somewhere that was otherwise reserved DESPITE the fact that the whole shop was empty and this band could have set up literally anywhere. Any sort of indicator that their was a band playing and spaces were reserved would've been great. I like local cafes but unfortunately have to take my business back to starbucks where employees bother to say hi or inform you of an event. Everything here is super delicious but I can't say I've ever felt more disrespected at a cafe and will never be back. Coffee Nature has quite a list of good things going for its patrons: 1. Great Hours! If the early bird gets the worm, then the early chick must get first dibs on a window seat.... 2. Wi-fi... not a very novel idea, but still a relief to find! (gratis) 3. Parking - always an ample number of spaces. If there isn't one out front, don't fret. There are plenty more a block away. 4. Not Starbucks. (wink) 5. Pretty good turkey/avocado paninis, if I must say.... Yes, say I must, because I have yet to order a different sandwich. It works... 6. Green tea galore. ..... ..... 6b. Never been here before, but all I wanted was a shot of Esspresso. It didn't take long and cost around $2 but it was the most disgusting Esspresso I have ever had. It was undrinkable..so sour and bitter even after I added sugar and half and half...even turned my teeth yellow. When I went to try and get another one remade, but the guy working the coffee tried telling me that was the way it was supposed to taste and didn't want to make another one. Horrible customer service! Telling me I'm wrong? Was he the one drinking it? I just left the rest on the counter and left. Never going back there. read more

it was one of those early evenings, almost dinner time, and this strange thought popped in my brain. I thought, "I would love to find a good coffee shop that serves Korean food.". and suddenly, as if a genie waved their magic wand, fairy dust fluttered about my countenance, and before me was coffee nature. I walked in to the cozy space that is coffee nature and surveyed my surroundings. to the back, a couple beverage refrigerators, with maybe 5 small tables in front of them. immediately before me was the counter at which I was about to place my order. a menu is laid out nicely in tableau fashion above and behind the counter. various coffees, teas, and soda options are listed. as well as food choices such as bibimbap, Korean-influenced quesadillas, and bulgogi. the guy behind the counter was quite friendly and guided us in our decisions. I went with the bibimbap. which was great. the sauce was perfectly spicy and the rice made perfectly. I didn't get anything else, and this was my 1st visit, so I can't speak to anything else. the one thing that I did find disappointing (and why I'm not giving 5 stars) is their use of space. coffee nature does not have a lot to work with (hence my use of "cozy" earlier) and they waste a decent portion of it. it's unorganized in its' arrangement and messy. not in a dirty way. just messy. and behind the beverage refrigerators there appears to be some space that could be used for more tables, but it wasted with various boxes and random items. this would be a great place for people to come and hang out, but they limit themselves with their lack of organization. the food is great. the coffees and teas looked tasty. when I'm in the area again, i'll want to check it out again. but not to hang out. which, to me, is part of the point of a coffee shop. read more

My primary baseline for judging coffee places is by their espresso. I ordered a doppio espresso here and got barely a solo in a big 12 oz cup. It was $2.25 plus tax - fairly high when you could get more espresso at Starbucks for a cheaper price. I understand you're a small business and all, but you still have to remain competitive. The service was pretty good, but I wouldn't go here again. When you drink as much coffee and espresso as I do, these things add up. read more

I came here after work and had a cappuccino and the gangnum chicken panini. The cappuccino was delicious and the cat in the foam is really too cute. Much better than a boring old leaf! I got a small and it came in this big round cup, so I was happy with the size too. The chicken in the panini was really good and so was the bread. Everything was done really quickly, although I was the only order so that may not mean anything. Overall, I can't wait to come back, try more of the menu, and get more coffee cats. :) read more

Beautiful little locally owned coffee shop in the Tenleytown/Friendship heights area of DC. This is quite literally the ONLY real coffee shop within striking distance of the AU campus that i've found. They do live music, have comfy overstuffed chairs, and offer sandwiches, wraps, and korean rice bowls. The coffee is good, and the service is always overwhelmingly cheerful. The neighborhood could use a few more coffee shops like this. They also offer live "family friendly" comedy on weekends, which is hilarious. read more

I am a bit baffled by the review posted by the patron who asked for a free taste of coffee and didn't get it, and then based on that experience, decided never to return. I have never asked for a free sample of coffee at a coffee shop, and I wouldn't expect to get one, unless it was offered to me. I have been a patron of Coffee Nature for several years now. It's a pleasant spot--very condusive for working (reading or laptop), and comfortable if you are just there for your coffee. The lattes at Coffee Nature are really very good--a nice balance of smooth espresso and frothy, creamy milk, that is always topped with a very cheerful design. Personally, I prefer the straight latte at Coffee Nature. I ordered the mocha and white mocha once and remember it being too sweet for my taste. I have had the donuts once or twice there. They hit the spot at the time but I don't remember them being particularly distinctive outside of that. I think they are just donuts and if you are there and need a donut, it's a safe choice. I haven't had the food so am unable to offer any feedback on that front. But on the coffee, I'd definitely day go for it without hesitation. You won't be sorry. read more

What an awesome local gem! My boyfriend and I dropped by for lunch + coffee on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed everything about our visit. We had the spicy pork bulgogi quesadillas, a beef bulgogi bibimbap bowl, with a regular latte and a dirty chai to drink. The drinks were fantastic! In addition to cute latte art, they were well made a really delicious! The chai was on the sweeter side for sure, but really yummy and well made. The mugs they use for in-house medium-sized drinks are HUGE and would easily be considered large anywhere else. The food was really good too! My boyfriend and I were pretty hungry since we'd slept in and skipped breakfast and it was around 2PM, but we left stuffed and didn't even finish the bibimbap bowl. The quesadillas were really good, stuffed with cheese and meat, and the bibimbap was a good mix of vegetables and rice, with the gochujang sauce on the side. Pretty good fast food Korean, altogether! The only downside was that this place is a little small and seating got a bit cramped, since they're pretty popular and it was a gorgeous afternoon--but I can't blame them for that and the staff did try to make everyone as comfortable as possible! They have a nice outdoor patio as well for warmer days. read more
