I have had the East Village location bookmarked for *years* because of the deconstructed latte. Gimmicky, I thought, because by then all the judges on Top Chef laugh at the contestants for deconstructed whatever, but I will fall for that ish because OMG LOOK HOW PRETTY IT IS! And for some reason, I've never made it and I can't really explain why - some combination of I never went to East Village wanting coffee and forgetting it existed until I was looking up coffee places in Manhattan andohyeaDECONSTRUCTEDLATTE PLACE! But then I'd never go because it was never in an area I needed to meet someone for coffee for. So I did a short film and we were doing a Facebook Live thingy and a friend of my on screen partner offered her coffee place as a venue. How sweet, right? And then I was told it was the Coffee Project in Brooklyn, and--hold the phone. Why is there a coffee place near me I don't know about and why does it sound familiar? When I arrived early, and saw the flippin' deconstructed latte on the menu, I was internally jumping for joy. I had somehow scorned her for years and she came to me! (not really). So you KNOW I ordered that deconstructed latte and took the obligatory pictures of it. And you know what - this deconstruction works. You got to taste and appreciate the espresso, which was beautiful, that I had to drink a little with the milk, but the separation of it made me appreciate the creaminess and sweetness of the milk so that when I finished the deconstructed aspects and moved on to the latte, I could drink it without sugar, and I have never been one to be able to take my latte without sugar. It was lovely! The decor and atmosphere in the space is beautiful. It shows meticulous concern, love of coffee, and good use of space/tables for people who are there to work/catch up. It's very warm and makes me happy! I've since met the owner who is all-around goodness - sweet, humble, and clearly cares about coffee. Everyone else who I've come across who works there have also exuded similar vibes which is so rare and so great. I have also tried the nitro with milk - only my second time having nitro, and it was lovely as well. I have bought bags of the drip coffee beans because it is perfect for the picky eater/coffee drinker. Definitely a new favorite, if not the favorite, place to have coffee for me now (that's not at home). read more

A pretty, trendy little nice place away from the hub-bub of Downtown Brooklyn. There are five tables to work at, and a a couple of bars with stools and chairs. I didn't try coffee here the first time, but I enjoyed the ambiance. Would definitely come here again. read more

We had a flat white and an americano, both were equally mediocre. We also ordered avocado on toast which was ok, but the ham and cheese was a joke- looked like airplane food. Total was $35 and most of what we got went in the trash. read more

New coffee shop located near Atlantic Terminal in Downtown Brooklyn. Space in a decent size with high ceilings, tables in the back, near the window and a long high table with high chairs. Perfect if you are solo and want to do some work on your laptop when the tables are all taken. My friends and 8 had the cappuccino and latte. Both were great and perfect. Paired with our food made it even better. So happy they have an bakery item that is gluten free, which was the lavender, mixed berry loaf. The lavender scent was strong but I didn't mind it. The loaf tasted really good. Bathroom is clean and big but lighting was a bit too dim. Overall, great coffee shop. Love the decor and drinks. Very cozy and nice coffee spot to hangout either alone or with friends for catch up. I wanted to try the deconstructed latte since seeing on a YouTube video months ago. Interesting take on the latte breakdown. The barista told me to drink in a certain order. the espresso was first and tasted like bitter chocolate , the steamed whole milk was second and was light and creamy and lastly the hot latte itself which was how I'd picture the taste when combined. You clean your palette with sparkling water and a waffle to snack on. Good experience but not something you'd want to do all the time. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind coming back for other cool coffee drinks when in the area. read more

I just stopped by here this past weekend, and it's a hidden cute little coffee shop. They have a pretty good amount of seating (between bar seats and table seats). They have a small menu of food and pastries and a pretty good selection of coffees and teas to choose from. The staff here were super friendly, and it's quiet enough to get work done in, if needed. They also have a punch card, where your 11th drink is free. I would definitely recommend if in the area! read more

Friendly, quick, and considerate service. We came in for pour overs. They had different options and we choose two v60 cups. They brought them out each with two glasses so that we could try each other's. The spot is cute and convenient. Definitely coming back soon for their oat latte and Roberta's sourdough croissant. read more

Recently started visiting this coffee shop because I wanted to support local businesses. Several tines I arrive in the morning to a busy crowd. I always order multiple pastries to hand out to my coworkers. They love them. Many times, the expression on the employees is one of frustration because I order 10 pastries. I have asked. Is this bad to order and was assured no. 3 weeks ago, I walked in. Not busy at all. Ordered and was told to step aside. Not in a nice way. One person behind me. I sat back. Received my order and told the man. I will not return. I told him he was rude. All he said was "ok" smirked. I left. This place can easily be avoided. Too many other places. Cute atmosphere, but the service is AWFUL. I walked in and wasn't greeted by the cashier, who just stood there and stared at me until I asked him about the menu. I asked for some avocado toast, and all he said was, "No." Dumbfounded, I asked why, he said they didn't have it. However, I could clearly see another worker MAKING AVOCADO TOAST right behind him! I asked if they could add an egg to one of the sandwiches, which he answered again with a rude sounding "No." After this I'd had enough and just walked out. Surprisingly spacious and modern, tucked on a less than busy street; this cafe is worth the find. The coffee is really good and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The music is good to. If your looking for a place to sit down enjoy your coffee in a relaxing atmosphere this is the place to visit. My go to coffee is the nitro smooth like a Guinness but flavorful and creamy in taste. The croissants are to die for! The avocado one is amazing. This is the second location for coffee project which only debuted 3 weeks ago. Everything from customer service to quality to atmosphere is top notch if I can award a Michelin Star I would. Since the original location opened over 3 years ago I have tried most the menu and I have yet to be disappointed by any item. Best of luck on your new venture !! read more

OMG, Coffee Project New York | Fort Greene was truly excellent. The menu items were flavorful and yummy and the price point was also very good. The food here is outstanding, I had a lot of items off their menu, but Almond Croissant is especially great in my opinion. Workers are really charming and service is really quick. Wowza! First off, yes, this is the same Coffee Project brand as the one that exists in the East Village. Yeah, that one, the one with them deconstructed lattes and special milk. I have to say I love this spot even more than the first. The space/seating/bathroom... all bonus points. But the real star of the show is the pump coffee and their amazing scones!!! I'm a sucker for scones and their chocolate chip scone blew me out of the water. The staff here takes deep care in explaining the strengths of their different brewing methods, and doesn't hesitate to go above and beyond. read more

The Good: The matcha latte with almond milk, the lemon-ginger scone, and the iced mocha. Seating can be tricky. I came on a saturday around 3pm and seating was difficult to find, but a little patience and something was available in a few minutes. The baristas (2 cuties) bring your order to you if you stay-in. My friend and I sat at the bar-top area and it was a treat watching them prepare the pour-over drinks - very meticulous. I got a punch card and will defiantly return. This is a review about customer service. I go to coffee project almost every other day, before and during covid. It used to be really well run but now during covid it feels like the staff number seems to have cut down, folks working behind the counter look stressed, sounds rude and I've had multiple times going there just having really unpleasant encounters where the staff seems like they give zero fs about you. They have the same excellent service and friendliness, with a wider selection of pastries and the addition of some computerized brewing machines for single pour coffee and some tea (the green tea was delicious). the coffee here is pretty good so if you just want to stop by and grab a cup it's a pretty good place. the food is expensive and mediocre. the main issue i have with it is how loud they play their music. i've tried going here twice now to get work done but i end up leaving because i can't focus due to the loud music. read more

This is not your usual coffee shop, this place is special. Their coffee never disappoints. They have a good range of delicious coffee drinks as well as tea and incredible hot chocolate. Their croissant sandwiches are delicious and I have to stop myself from eating them everyday. You can take Batista classes here, and they also hold coffee tasting events. AMAZING coffee. The baristas here are very well educated on coffee and they know what they're doing. This coffee shop is not your regular degular schmegularr coffee shop. It's coffee shop on steroids, from the pour over bar, down to the steampunk machine. Pastries are also a unique selection. I ordered a hot latte not warm. At least it's little better than White noise. People In New York don't know how to judge what is good or bad. I would skip this place. It's an average coffee shop. After reading the owners reply. I thought more about my experience at this place and I came to a conclusion that this place sucks donkey balls! Save your money and go somewhere else. read more
