Truly the best coffee that I have had since moving here three years ago, very grateful this spot exists. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, easy parking and not overwhelming inside. 10/10

Come for the espresso, stay because you suddenly realize you've been doing coffee wrong your entire life. Boise, we finally got the good stuff -- and yes, it was worth the wait. If you've never had espresso made from freshly roasted beans sourced this intentionally and prepared with real skill, this place is absolutely worth stopping in. I've been waiting for a close, privately owned espresso café like this since moving to Boise in 2008 -- and Spoken finally delivers. After a full month of coming here regularly, I can confidently say this IS the espresso, with intention. Spoken Coffee works directly with the family who owns and roasts the coffee beans, no middleman. The green beans are roasted by that family. The time from roast to cup is noticeably short -- and it shows in every drink. The freshness is unmistakable. The espresso is clean, smooth, and beautifully balanced, without the bitterness or dullness you get from beans that have been sitting around. Their mocha is exceptional as well -- the chocolate they use is perfectly matched to the roast, enhancing the coffee rather than overpowering it. Easily the best mocha I've had anywhere. The baristas are longtime professionals who clearly know their craft. Shots are dialed in, milk art is consistently beautiful, and they take their time with each drink while still being warm and approachable. The space is comfortable and thoughtfully laid out, with plenty of seating including quieter, more private spots. There's no drive-thru, but parking is easy and plentiful, so it's not an issue. Food options round it out nicely: muffins, bagels, homemade breakfast burritos, and a family banana bread recipe that feels genuinely homemade -- not like something pulled from a freezer. If you're holding gift cards or gave gift cards as holiday gifts, get in touch with the Kellys (at the White Rabbit number or page I assume) as they will refund them. Sarah is a remarkable chef and DK could teach a master class on hospitality. Those two things combined are part of the reason their businesses, White Rabbit, Petite 4 and prior to that the downtown sandwich shop Bleu Bird (in the space now occupied by Lemon Tree) were so popular. The Kellys say they are staying in Boise and that is a good thing for all of us who like to eat; to see where their creativity will take them. In the meantime, the Rex's have built a wonderful restaurant empire of successful, quality enterprises in less than 10 years since relocating to Boise from California. Best known among them is The Wylder and Percy, both in downtown Boise, but they also own others including Wyld Child that is in the same neighborhood as White Rabbit. So it is very good news for people who love good food in Boise, that the Rex's are the people who the Kelly's contacted to buy their beloved buildiong. It is early days but new owners suggest they will do an Italian themed pizza and pasta eatery.

Bat Man and Marvel comics were his go to. So, coming to this joint only made sense. Yoooooo, this has to be one of the dopest comic book stores around! As soon as you walk in, everything catches your eye! You have Deadpool right at the door. You have beautiful display cases with the most realistic characters in them. Funko Pops nicely organized on shelves. Comic books neatly arranged in bins nicely labeled. It truly is a prestine store. We looked around for a bit. I was just in awww at how cool everything was. My husband was mainly doing the looking. He didn't really find anything that caught his eye. He has a pretty good collection but didn't find what he was specifically looking for. All good cause there's always next time! The gentleman that was working today was really nice! Even though he was mid conversation with another customer, he still greeted us! Very loudly and happily too! The set up of this joint is cool! And the fact that they serve coffee here so you can chill and read a comic is dope. I wouldn't mind sipping on a coffee chilling with my husband while he's vibing to a comic. We both look forward to coming back and seeing what kind of new displays and comics they have.

The decor is really beautiful and has a lot of seating. I even loved that there was a couch outside. I ordered a bagel and a seasonal latte. I really enjoyed my bagel. Unfortunately, the lemon latte wasn't really for me, but I'm still glad I tried it! Understandably, I think the barista who served me might've not wanted to work on a holiday and was a bit short with me. That being said, the service was good overall.

This location is considerably smaller than the state location, not to mention, hidden away in the center. It still has a homey vibe with leather couches, rustic tables and a beautiful wooden bar top area. There were two employees hustling the best they could with a consistent steady line of customers. With this location being smaller, it does get a little cluttered at the ordering register. Unfortunately, my favorite bagel egg sandwich was not available as they were out of egg patties by 11am. At least the Asiago bagels were available and I bumped it up with herb cream cheese. Also got an iced Mexican mocha. Food and drinks did take a while longer to come out, understandably so. I will say that the Mexican mocha was incredibly well balanced and flavorful...much better than the state location. The bagel was toasted, but the outside was a little burnt. The smear of cream cheese was a lot...so much so, that I had to get a knife and take over half of it off (note to self: easy cream cheese or on the side when ordering). Seating outside was nice but the patio was small. Tough to seat 4 people inside when 2 people take the only 4-seater table to work.

A treat when she had a good session. My son and I finished having brunch down the road. We were both bummed that my husband couldn't join see we decided to get him a sweet treat. The way to make everything better for my husband is a good apple fritter. Apple fritters make everything better. The size of these donuts are the first thing you see. I don't remember these donuts being so big! There were some round ones the size of a salad plate. It honestly would be fun to have this huge donut for a first birthday photo. Shoot, I would love to have this huge donut for my birthday! I couldn't get over the fact at how glorious these donuts looked. They were all delicious looking! There were plenty of huge apple fritters! No need to ever be concerned about this joint running out. There was 3 big trays worth. Maybe this joint is known for their apple fritters. Plenty of stock on hand. The sweet girl behind the counter grabbed the five that I asked for and got them all packaged up. One for my husband. And of course some for my boys and in laws. Country Donuts did not mess around with these apple fritters. They were perfectly fried on the outside, golden and crispy. So soft in the middle. A hint of cinnamon to make it warm. Chunks of apple throughout the fritter. This pastry did not lack on the glaze, every inch of that baby was covered. Everything about that fritter was fabulous! I guess it's good that this shop is clear across town from where I live. I would become a diabetic if I lived closer. We do have a couple local bakeries by us but they aren't pushing fritters out like this. It was cool coming in and grabbing a sweet treat for my husband. Even though it is an older shop, don't let the hole in the wall look deter you from coming. Shops like this usually push out the best products. It was worth stopping in for that apple fritter today.
