This is a very unique coffee shop. What I love about it is they took an old bank and made the vault one of the rooms to sit in. They have a good variety of drinks and food options. The have they typical selection of coffee's and espresso drinks but what I find to be awesome is the selection of teas and chai. Personally I love their green tea options. They also serve bagels. I like this because it provides more of a meal at a coffee shop then the traditional pastries that some shops may have. There is a lot of room and outdoor seating which makes it a great place to snag coffee with a friend. read more

My husband and I were hoping to snag a late lunch at a nearby Southwestern cuisine place, but when we found that they wouldn't be open for an hour and a half or so, we decided to audition Coffeetopia. Neither of us wanted coffee, so fortunately their teas, Italian sodas, and smoothies/slushes--not mention the selection of treats and snacks--didn't disappoint. We opted for slushies/smoothies. My husband had one with orange and banana , and I had the raspberry lemon slush. Sooo fresh! I think that San Jo is hurting in terms of their smoothie places, because I haven't had as excellent a drink as I did at Coffeetopia. Their baklava is sinfully delish as well. Love it here! Always been a favorite, serving up fresh coffee selections brewed to order, and the atmosphere is great! There are always friendly people hanging around outside on the patio and in. There are also white rooms with free WiFi if you need to do any work. They are known for good coffee and specialty drinks, but they also have some bomb bagels! (get there early cause they go quick!) My favorite is an onion with jalapeno cream cheese! So good and addictive. Love you coffeetopia :) read more

Easily my favorite coffee shop in town. Super chill atmosphere and offers the best high quality locally roasted coffee selections. I go here at least 2-3 times a week and completely troll off thier FREE Wifi for considerable lengths of time. My personal favorite: Santa Cruz Dark from the brew bar with a lot of soy, 2 sugars and a splash of agave. read more

We fell for this place when we discovered their mocha whipped cream. It added so much to a good mocha and made it exceptional. Trouble is, they have had it less than half the time over the last year - even though it is featured on their website. The whipped cream equipment is always 'broken'. So why advertise it if you don't Care enough to provide it?? We kept returning, sure that the problem would be resolved... but no. I may have only visited once, and I may have only had two sips of what gives this place five stars from me... but I guarantee, I will be back every time I am in the area, and I will have done massive cardio to prepare for the calories that I will refuse to share with anyone else. FROZEN PEANUT BUTTER MOCHA. How I lived before this, I may never know.... and how I am expected to live so far away from this creation is still unknown to me. Quite honestly, I would brave a snake-infested garbage dump in order to get one of these beauties... fortunately, this place is anything BUT a snake-infested garbage dump. dude. i loooooove coffee that you can taste and enjoy. I always pick Coffetopia to hook up the brew-bar coffee (per-cup-brewed coffee). Its never a disappointment. The pastries are standard config, but they up it with the bagels with egg. Nothing like sippin on some steve smooth french out front, readin the paper and breathing the ocean air... (WARNING: if you dig the funky coffeehouses where you go for flavor, this is your joint. if you're the type that needs a faux-modernism decor and employees in green aprons, there's a Starsucks down 41st.) read more

We arrived at 5:30 and the place was closed at 6. When all was said and done we spent 20 minutes enjoying our coffee. When I go out for coffee I enjoy relaxing and talking with the friend(s) I am with. This was not this kind of place. The coffee was OK and the staff was very friendly. I would rather spend time at another coffee establishment. The coffee was moderately priced. I prefer Verve down the street, more expensive coffee but such a fin place to hang out. read more

The only place I would go for a bagel and free WiFi. Sitting in the bank vault was great for hiding away. Cell phone reception is not great in the bank vault -- but, what do you expect in a vault? Friendly people, good choice of food and drinks -- esp for someone like myself who does not drink coffee, or tea. I moved away and have yet to find such a fabulous place for wifi and relaxing. read more

Kind of awesome Decent Coffee. The brew bar is great. Talk about a a good cup of average Joe. There is somewhat of a battle between patrons of Verve and Coffeetopia. Only issue here is Verve roasts their own coffee. However Coffeetopia adds in the fluffy surgery coffee options like frozen blended mochas and such. So to each his own. If you are fluffy and like the sugary blends go here (much better than any starbucks). If you like the traditional options such as lattes, espresso and french press, try the shop down the street. read more

Awesome little gem in capitola. Met a friend for a much needed Java fix and we both loved our drinks. Had a bagel which was super fresh tasting! Staff is very efficient and knows how to make a good cup o joe. Which is important when you're talking about the beverage that makes me capable of living. Love love the vault room, and how close to east cliff this place is. I will 100% be coming back to grab some caffeine (aka life) and stroll down to the beach. Way to be coffeetopia! read more

Service was good, but the organic black tea I had tasted really nasty. It was either exposed to air too much, old, or just poor quality. Maybe they should consider buying Rishi brand tea. The bank vault door they have is pretty awesome though. read more

Coffeetopia is amazing. Everything is done right, including the amount of syrup put in drinks and even the temperature of the milk and water used for coffee and tea. If the employees aren't perfectly friendly and chipper, it's probably because they've got a line out the door and have been up since 5 in the morning or something, but I've noticed that they manage to maintain a very comfortable energy. Fair trade/ organic coffee is a plus, too, and they make their own cream cheese served with bagels from the bagelry. Simply delicious. Just dont be too surprised when the bagel gets stuck in their giant toaster and bursts into flames. It's happened to me, it could happen to you, but it's totally worth it. read more

Coffeetopia has been a solid spot for years. Not sure what is going on. They advertise themselves as Santa Cruz's "premier internet cafe serving gourmet coffee, espresso, tea, baked goods and more!" We brought in a Groupon before it expired, and they would not accept it and offered no explanation other than, "sorry, my manager said not to take anymore." Maybe they sold too many? Not sure, but this kind of practice is self-defeating, i.e., using Groupon to drive away customers is an interesting approach. That said, I would rate their coffee as decent (much better than big chain espresso) but well under Verve and Lulu's. In the past, I had them in my latte rotation, but it will be awhile before I go back. read more
