About 20 months ago and prior to moving in, I was tasked with updating the manager's 2BD 2BA…read moreappartment in an upscale beachfront condominium in the Town of Palm Beach (TOPB). Amongst a group of bidders Palm Beach Construction (PBC) was awarded the job to rennovate and update, where financially feasible, the 30 year old appartment that had minor prior work done. Simply put the PBC Team from budgeting, to design, to planning, to execution, to the overall timing, did an outstanding job on the project. The original scope of work was to do new porcelin floors throughout a majority, a modern redesign of an open kitchen, including removal of two walls, with an add-on large island/bar and lots of additional cabinet space, one bathroom complete redo, additional beautiful and code compliant electrical outlets and 3-way dimming lighting, code compliant plumbing line relocations, code compliant HVAC returns, exhaust system upgrades, smoke alarms, new walk-in closest fixtures, and painting. As we got into the project demolition, mold was found in multiple places of the appartment. Long story short, 80% of the drywall had to be replaced and ALL the sources of water intrusion, vapor collection, and mold were mitigated properly. Abel E. and Luis V. were great hands-on supervisors and field generals that not only kept their crews on task, in line, and tidy, but also other contractors that were coming in to do work in the unit. PBC also provided other great recommendations such as, Jaime Plana Architect and Rainbow Blinds & Interior for design work and finishing touches. These all met the highest requirements of the condominium associaition's construction rules, the TOPB building codes, and a beautiful, bright, and open floorplan with modern amenities and professional aesthetic finishes. PBC was not the lowest bidder, nor the highest, but they turned out to be the best return on investment. Their desgin to budget, high end execution, and problem solving abilities, will provide a long lasting, beautiful, and timeless finish that the family will enjoy for many years to come. If you are looking for a great and trustworthy General Contractor for your next remolding job, you should consider Palm Beach Construction as one of your go to options. Demand for good contractors is very high in South Florida. Therefore, plan ahead, beat the crowd, and select someone capable that cares, will get the job done right the first time, will save you money in the longrun, and if ever needed, will stand behind their work. I deal with many owner contractors that come in to clean up someone else's mess. Bigger is not always better and cheap quality is not long lived. Do your homework and choose wisely. The load bearing wall was compromised by another company that tried to take shortcuts by installing a soak away and ended up ruining my laundry room and garage, leaving the roof compromised during hurricane season. Ryan kept me apprised of all he was doing and took care of all permits and inspections. His team showed up early, did what was on the agenda for the day and left me with a clean work area every day when they left. Someone always showed up during an inspection and took care of everything. By the time all was completed, I felt great relief knowing my family is safe. Also added on extra charges at the end ($900), even after clarifying everything before the work was performed. Overall, work was decent, but I can't recommend based on character and price gouging at the end. They painted the entire interior and exterior of the house. I have painted professionally, and I worked along-side the crew part of the time and was able to point out many other things along the way, that probably wouldn't have been done if I wasn't there. Here is a list of issues we had: Exterior: Did not properly scrape loose paint and fill cracks (partially fixed) Missed painting a board on soffit Painted gate wrong color (did fix) Had to go back and re-roll because of lines (did fix) Overspray in a few areas Sand painted into the front door Paint drips around the house Interior: Overspray onto floors and cabinets Paint drips on floor throughout Missed entire sections of wall Did not paint ceiling in 2 closets (was on contract) Did not perform work that he verbally agreed to but didn't want to write into the contract Paint on door handles and outlets Biggest issue was add-on prices and failure to stick with their word. Then, when the job was "done" would not respond to phone calls. Except for billing, when he tried twist contract wording to justify huge add on costs. I can't work with or recommend people like that.

I hired this handyman to repair a closet shelving system that had pulled away from the wall which…read morewas being used for ordinary clothing storage and was not overloaded beyond normal household use. He assured me that the repair, including the anchors he installed, would support the weight of the clothing and items normally stored in the closet. Unfortunately, only about a week after the repair was completed, the entire system failed again and collapsed. The shelving and clothing ended up on the floor, creating a significant mess and forcing us to empty the closet once more. When I contacted him, he stated that the anchors he installed had held and that the real issue was that I needed an entirely new closet system. However, this was not what I was told when the repair was performed. Had I been advised from the outset that the existing system could not be safely supported or that a replacement was necessary, I would have appreciated that honesty and made a different decision. What is most disappointing is that despite the repair failing after only a week, he refused to return and evaluate the situation without charging an additional service fee. I understand that not every repair is guaranteed forever. However, when a repair fails within days and the customer relied on the handyman's representation that it would support the intended load, I believe standing behind the work and at least reassessing the situation is reasonable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service. **UPDATE: With respect to Mike's response, many of the implications are categorically false, namely, that what is remaining of my closet is still usable and "hanging". The anchors screws, and brackets have bent and are misshaped. He also indicated fixed my toilet for "free" when, in fact, he actually exacerbated the issue and spent no more than a minute looking at the toilet and twisting the float and fill valve. So the contention that he was being generous with his time is unfounded. With respect to the text messages he's alluding to, admittedly, he did indicate he did not warranty his work, but also claimed "I'll also say this, I've never hung any shelving in somebody's called me back later and said that it came down". Moreover, "I can tell you that it's gonna go in with anchors at hold 220 pounds each and there's probably gonna be three or four so outside of that hopefully it lasts a long time". That said, given the estimated weight of the closet was no more than 150 pounds, that was less than 35% of its intended total weight, which should've held it without incident. Moreover, it's only been one week as opposed to two since he performed the job Finally, the mere fact that he wouldn't return to audit the job or two provide structured guidance and repair onsite as a gesture of Goodwill is woefully inadequate.

First, they always show up when they say they will. Second, their plumbers know what they're doing. Third, their guys have pointed out a couple of potential issues along the way which weren't part of the original scope of work, but nonetheless were pretty helpful to know as a homeowner. I know that pointing out issues is kind of like upselling, but it actually didn't come across as upselling because there wasn't any pressure to do the work. And that information you get is pretty helpful. The only downside to working with them is the price. They are by far the most expensive plumber I've worked with in the area. I kid you not, one time I got an estimate from them and as I reviewed their email in the middle of a Zoom call, I literally said out loud "holy fucking shit bro" not realizing my mic was on, which was a bit embarrassing. That said, I later agreed to the proposal because nobody else was available as fast. So yeah their availability and their quick response time is definitely important to me. I don't always use Mike's, sometimes they get undercut on price by a company that can come out quickly. But I know that when I do hire them, I will be in good hands, though with a lighter wallet. Four stars. Keep them in your contact list just in case!

He was straightforward with what he was going to do and how much it was, no upselling or sales pitch of any kind. Other companies were quick over the phone not reassuring us of the process and basically leaving us to simply trust that the completed job will be good, while others offer these complicated tiers of different applications at different costs. Jose was able to start a day earlier than scheduled which was awesome and went straight to work. He was very meticulous with the prep work prior to any application making sure that the initial layer will bond with the floor correctly. He had pointed out an issue with water coming into the garage due to a reverse slope and he went above to try to block the area from getting water inside before leaving for the day. He came back the following morning and finished the rest of the job and it came out absolutely amazing. He also even went above and beyond to leave a tarp outside due to the water issue just to give it time to cure some more in case it rained again to prevent water from getting inside. He had to make another trip later that evening just to retrieve his tarp. If we need epoxy flooring in the future, we will definitely use him again, he's communicative, knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and you can tell he's very proud of his work, because we are. Cohen's Restoration repaired my dining room after a roof leak resulted in drywall damage and mold. Tyler at Cohen provided a detailed quote on the mold remediation and repair work. The restoration ran into problems - first there was additional mold that needed to be remediated - and Cohen's provided a reasonable change order to address that. Second - they discovered that although the roof had been repaired by a roofing contractor, water was continuing to leak. He responded to my quote request quickly, was easy to communicate with and his rates are more than fair. My front door was repaired as much as possible for now and Michael did a wonderful job. Actually, he went above and beyond to make it work. When the job was completed, I was sent a receipt via text in addition to a well thought out text explaining what he did, pricing etc. I am happy I found Michael on Yelp. I highly recommend giving Michael a shot. I found him to be reliable, honest and helpful. What more can you ask for?
