I came in just to browse, and they were more than helpful assisting me with trying on different frames that would fit my face & prescription. I took a bunch of pictures, and had time to sit and think on it. They gave me plenty of time to try many different frames with absolutely NO pressure on purchasing, which I really appreciate. They know they provide an extensive experience, mid to high-end options with excellent service. They have Cartier, Tom Ford, Miu Miu, Versace, Gucci, Ray Bans, and many more. After a couple weeks, I couldn't get this one frame out of my mind that I absolutely adored. I returned to order them, and they again let me try more frames & sunglasses, just to make sure. My heart was set on these Barton Perreira frames, which I hadn't heard of before, but I learned are handmade in Japan. I found the perfect frames for my face & personality, and they were more than happy to put an order in. My order was ready in about a week! They also have every type of lens if you have a higher prescription and need specialized lenses. They gave an amazing price and I'm so happy to find & support this business. I had a great experience with the team here. I needed new prescription sunglasses ASAP and wanted to keep costs low as I've lost the last 3 pairs I've had. They confirmed over the phone that they could do same-day for standard (if delivered in the AM), with an additional day or 2 for polarized, and they delivered. I was able to keep the cost low by using a previous, lightly used frame I had, something I hadn't thought about before. Exceptionally nice people! Great service and selection of frames. That's the good news. The bad news is cost and lens quality. I cannot say enough good things about Cohen's and its owner, Dolly. I have a very strong prescription (-10)so finding a frame that fits my face and accommodates the lenses is challenging. After having a horrible experience at another establishment, I was really nervous. Dolly is the consummate professional; she immediately understood what I was nervous about and assuaged my fears. She helped me pick out several frames and I chose the one that she suggested. BEST decision ever. I love my glasses! Excellent customer service from the staff and Dr. Baumal. I came for an eye exam and he spent a good deal of time educating me about what's practical and not and ways for me to save money. He and his staff did not pressure me into buying their products and gave me enough information about what my insurance covered. Even before I went, he offered to look up if they covered my insurance and he called back in 5-10 minutes as promised. They definitely bought my loyalty and I will buy here in the future for contacts/glasses and future eye exams! WOW, I seriously thought today would be a sad day for my bank account, but the team here helped me out big time. First thing you'll notice is that the people here are really nice and seem genuinely eager to help you find something you'll like and enjoy wearing. And as I'll explain below, they're not trying to oversell you or take your money, they just want good solutions for you. So I broke the frames on my glasses and came in expecting to have to get completely new glasses, which would be $450 for the lenses (because my high prescription requires high index lenses) + whatever frames I get (which would cost from $100 to infinity, depending on what frames). However, THEY were the ones who told me that a much cheaper route would be to bring in my broken glasses so they can try to fit the existing lenses into any similar-sized frames they have on hand. I came back today with my broken glasses, and the nice lady looked at them and saw that I had just snapped the metal hinge, and she said she could just try to replace the hinge or the temple with the materials they had on hand. Long story short, she found a match that worked and I ended up spending less to fix my glasses than I would on a typical drink at Starbucks, all in less than 20 minutes. To walk in expecting to spend $600+, only to have THEM convince ME to spend about 1/100th of that is, obviously, a huge blessing. Thanks to the team here for helping me out big time today. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. The eye doctor was good. He told me I am basically blind but he spent a lot of time making sure my prescription for glasses and contacts was perfect for me. The service here is EXTREMELY mixed. One lady was so incredibly nice and helpful. She made sure between my coupon (29$ for an eye exam) and my insurance that my exam was the lowest price it could be. The other woman working here (younger.. guido-esque) was AWEFUL. She was so rude and acted constantly annoyed. I asked to try on 3 different frames at first and she made an annoyed sigh. Every subsequent time I asked to see a frame she did the same thing. I looked a maybe 10 frames and felt pressured to pick one since the counter girl was so irritated. I finally just left without getting glasses solely because of the service there. On a better note... they can rush order and have frames by the next day at the most... read more

Yelpers, I feel led astray. I found this place through Yelp reviews. I have a fabulous eye doctor at home who I loved, but I stopped being able to read the board in class and knew I couldn't wait until Thanksgiving.for an appointment. Making an appointment online was quick and easy. I got there and I had to wait about 20 minutes which was kindof a pain. Whatever. I knew all I needed was a stronger contact prescription but the doctor insisted on doing a full out eye exam that took a very long time. Okay, fine, he's thorough. The thing that annoyed me was that he basically refused to write me a prescription after the appointment. It cost me $40 for the appointment, with my insurance coverage!! All I wanted to do was order my tried and true contacts from 1-800-Contacts and have that be the end of it. Nope. He pressured me to try a new brand (which I am currently wearing and I hate) and "promised" if I didn't like them he'd write me a prescription for my regular ones. Guess who is getting a phone call on Monday morning. They obviously really want you to order contacts through them and made it very difficult and inconvenient to say no. I hate that. Fortunately, even if i have SUCKER stamped on my forehead, my bank account doesn't. I actually did want to look for a new pair of glasses there but by the time I got out of the exam, the combo of time, cost, and sales pressure was too much and I ran for the door. read more

I feel very betrayed by the wonderful reviews here on Yelp, since that is how I came to go to this place for my annual eye exam. I thought it was so easy to make an appt via their website, but I could not be more wrong. The week prior to my appt, I received a phone call stating that I had missed my appt -- actually, no, I had not - it was supposed to be the week after, as had been confirmed by email. When I did go there, they were running 20+ minutes late. Let's just say my appt was at 4:30 & I didn't leave until ~6pm. Then, I felt like I had been pressured into ordering contacts from them -- they wouldn't give me a copy of the prescription & wouldn't tell me what the contacts were. The dr. had told me that they would go ahead & order the contacts & if I didn't like the trial pair after a week, they would order me a diff. brand. Well, when I left, I called to cancel my order & Dolly promised me that they would price match any price I could find online - she told me the brand & said to call with the name of a website to price match. So, next day I find a price online & call. The woman that I spoke to told me that they can't match that price because it is too cheap. I told her that I wanted to cancel my order then...she came back on the phone & told me that they would match the price I found online...a week later & my credit card is still not credited the difference. I called today as I had a follow-up appt scheduled & wanted a reminder of what time I was to be there. They had no record of my appt & my contacts weren't in either. I am beyond frustrated with the lack of coordination with this store. If there is resolution, I will follow up to change this review. As it stands, I am beyond upset with the level of service I have received from here. !!Update!!: They have credited my Visa to price match the online website, so I am giving them back a few stars. In conclusion: Great for eye exam (Dr Baumal is very concise & will explain anything you ask), I would not recommend purchasing contacts (unless you want to go through with researching & having them price-match for you) - glasses looked stylin', but I didn't look at prices since I'm not a glasses kinda girl. read more

When arriving there and showing the coupon for the eye exam, the woman told us that it is only for when you buy glasses. She didn't bother even asking if we were interested in buying some. Stupid me. Should have checked Yelp. My glasses have been crooked for a while and this is usually an extremely easy task for an optician.... Even though I was prepared to pay, they obviously assumed I wanted it done for free, judging by the poor level of service I just experienced. The lady at the desk was friendly and took my glasses. Only that she decided to gossip about her social life to her colleague next to her halfway through. Sorry but I find it extremely rude and unprofessional when you are taking up another customer's time to gossip whilst you are being paid to work, especially in front of them. I came to get my glasses fixed, not have to stand there until you're done talking about your weekend. A male worker walked out the back room and assisted. After putting my glasses on and still feeling them crooked, he assured me it was fine. He asked his colleague if I bought the pair from their store, she said no, and obviously from that point on he decided he didn't want to help me. He took my glasses to a back room and was laughing and joking around with another colleague. He brought my glasses, and I asked how much the price was, he said it was free of charge, which I was very greatful for. Getting home, looking in the mirror, they are even MORE crooked then before, placing them on the table, one side is so stuck in the air, I can't help but feel this was deliberate. Dr. B - not bad, liked to talk..maybe a bit too much. Felt like he was pressuring me to get my contacts prescription updated, and almost felt like he was upselling daily use contacts.. Sales lady - she was super nice and super sweet as others have said. Helped me pick glasses and was realistic how much I can afford which I appreciate as a student. THE BAD As a student, I have very very very little disposable income. But when I'm literally on my last pair of contacts and broken glasses, what can you do? There were some frames around $100 or $150 on sale, Mine fall under the $150, but the lady said I would be able to walk out with frames and lenses, with extra thinning and anti glare coat all for $250. It sounded reasonable enough to me that I agreed. It wasnt until I got home when I googled the brand that I realized I picked up a pair of $85 glasses for $150....which is very very f*cking ridiculous. It was about 2x as much. Shame on me for not checking and rushing into it, but really? Such a drastic price difference makes me wonder what else this place does to take advantage of you. I would never come here again. They have lost my trust. The only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is because generally speaking, they were nice.....but super f*cking sketchy and super scam artists read more

After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to have an eye exam with Dr. B not too long ago. He was very kind and did a thorough job. I already had a pair of frames and just wanted to have my lenses updated. I was told this would cost some ludicrous price (over $150) just for lenses! Nothing fancy, just regular ole lenses. I then asked for my prescription, which was SO awkward. It's so uncomfortable how Dr. B lingers around the cash wrap as though he is waiting to see if you'd buy something. I paid for my visit and just wanted my prescription. Patients should not feel uncomfortable asking for their prescription. Fast forward a few months later and I decided I would give contacts a try. Making my appointment was relatively easy, although I did have to wait a bit once I arrived. I get in the exam room and Dr. B immediately asked me if I had worn contacts in the past because if not he would have to teach me how to put them in and I was his last appointment of the day. Really!? Completely unprofessional. Lucky for him, I had worn contacts in the past and did not want to waste his precious time. I will never be returning to his office given the following reason: inconsistencies with pricing. I was told my contact fitting visit would cost $35 or $55 with astigmatism. He decided to charge me $45. Fine, I wasn't going to cry over $10. But then, I was told by Dr. B that a 30 day supply of the contact lenses I chose would cost $30 per box ($60 for both eyes) while I was having my eyes checked, which was completely fine with me. I went to go pay for my visit and was asked how I would like to pay. Okay? Mind telling me the total!? I asked and was told the lenses would be $90 for 2 boxes. Interesting how the price miraculously went up when I went to checkout. I had done my research prior to my appointment and saw that my lenses clearly only cost $30/ box. Nice try. Just picked up two pairs of glasses and regular and sunglasses. This is my second time getting glasses from Cohen's and both times have been pleasant but different. My first time was great. Dolly the older lady helped me find glasses. She's amazingly patient, won't pressure you, or let you buy something you don't look good in. She actually steered me in the direct of the cheaper glasses, so that gives me the idea she's trying to make clients happier instead of digging their pockets. Total spent $150. Dolly gets 5 stars for being great. My second time at Cohen's was spent with the younger woman. As the others have previously mentioned, she's not the best. Without being mean or rude to said woman, you should try and get Dolly to assist you. In younger woman's defense though, I still picked my two recent purchases with her and am happy with them. Total spent $800 (regular glasses and sunglasses). Since Dolly is the owner I question whether or not my purchase would have been less money since I went with the younger woman. If you don't have eye medical insurance, you can get an exam for $29 when you purchase glasses there. Otherwise, you could spend at least $70 at other places for an exam. Just a heads-up. read more

First of all I love Cohens. I bought my most favorite pair of glasses from there and also an awesome pair of prescription sunglasses. Wtf is with all the Dawn bashing? Honestly I'm sure all these women writing on here hate her because she isn't kissing your ass. If you're rude then why do you expect a smile?
