When Orthodox vegan family members visit, there's a limited number of places for us to eat without going far away. Colbert is one of those places. This is the second time we've been here where we were the only ones in the restaurant. The ambiance is very pretty, while simple. Lots of tables. As soon as you walk in, you're handed iPad as menus that I enjoyed. The food was really good. Each couple ordered 2 appetizers and a salad. Why do restaurant salads always taste better than ones made at home? Maybe is was the perfectly fresh avocado with lemon vinaigrette. We had the kebeh which are crispy fried pockets filled with mushrooms and the meatballs filled with rice in a delectable tomato sauce, along with the Colbeh Special Salad loaded with avocado, cilantro, and other. Perfect for a linner (lunch/dinner) meal. Relatives had falafel with tahini, an eggplant with tomatoes, and a salad. We didn't try theirs, but they enjoyed it. Another "like" for Colbeh is the dishware. All white in interesting shapes. While it's not cheap, it's a nice place to go when you're limited on dining options. Again, didn't have my camera. Oops. I had a celebration/graduation party tonight for 25 people. The food was so plentiful and absolutely delicious. The service was so amazing and welcoming. We truly felt like royalty! Had a very good experience at Colbeh. Haven't been here for a few years, but was not disappointed. Food was excellent and plentiful, good portions. There is pickles, marinated veggies / bread/ pita on the table, which was warm and tasty. After we ordered , they brought out complimentary appetizer of crunchy lentil rice and green rice, which was very tasty. ( wish they had brought it out earlier, as we didn't know it was coming before we ordered). Our salads came out and we're very good and fresh. Entrees were excellent. I had the Red rice ( sour cherry rice), which I've never had before and loved. It is a sweet rice and you def have to love cherries! The green rice was not as big a hit. Nothing wrong with it, just not preferred. Steak and kebabs and chicken cutlets were prepared perfectly. They provided complimentary fresh fruit at end of meal which was appreciated. Only negative is that the menu on website is not correct, at least $10 less than menus in restaurant. They said that they have been trying to make that correction, but have had difficulty. Haven't eaten in this location of Colbeh YET but can tell you from what I saw when picking up my order that it is a beautiful restaurant. Really clean and bright interior with a ton of seating that's not on top of eachother. Ordered lunch take out and they packaged everything beautifully so not a drop of sauce nor oil nor grain of rice ever fell out nor messed up the bags they were in. If was delicious as always... The eggplant in tomato sauce is one of my all time favorites and it did not disappoint. Ordered a chicken kebab platter and they literally sent it in a aluminum platter. Chicken was super tender and flavorful with just the right amount of salt and spices. Can't forget the cigars and hummus either! Definitely looking forward to eating at the restaurant soon. read more

We needed platted 2 kosher meals double wrapped in aluminum foil  b/c we needed them for a party at a non kosher venue. I was told this was not a problem. We ordered a rib steak medium  and a prime rib eye medium well. When I picked it up, there were two gigantic tins and two smaller tins. There were some small plastic tins of vegetables and they said it was complementary. They threw in some plastic plates and flimsy utensils. I had no time to do anything about it because I was going to be late to bring the food. When we opened the tins at the restaurant, the large tins contained the steak with extremely soggy fries and the tomato. The smaller tins contained sides that we did not order. The worst of it was that it gave us two rib steaks, both of which were extremely overdone. Speaking for myself, mine had absolutely hardly any flavor to it. I will however give them credit that it was a hefty serving of fries. I had also ordered an appetizer of Moroccan cigars that was really good. Fiends of our recommend trying this restaurant under new management also know as The Cottage. It had a warm inviting feeling to it from both the outside, like you were walking up to a cozy cottage and the inside was just as cozy and warm. This is a Persian/Iranian Kosher restaurant, which I have never tried before and was very pleasantly surprised. As we walked in we received a friendly welcome from one of the managers and were seated immediately. Our waiter came over, welcomed and introduced himself that he will be taking care of us. First we ordered cold appetizers of Babaganoush (Roasted Eggplant with Garlic and Mediterranean Spices), Hummus, Mo's Eggplant ( Roasted Eggplant with Red Peppers and Mediterranean Spices), quite spicy, Matbucha (Mediterranean Mixed Vegetables), Heart of Palm and Pitas. It was great trying all the different apps and seeing which I liked the best. All were good but my favorite was the Heart of Palm. For a our main course we ordered the Colbeh King Combination ( A combination of Barg, Joujeh, Koobideh and White Koobideh Seasoned and Grilled) with Cherry Rice, Orange Rice and regular rice. All the food came out hot and all tasted very good. The meat was cooked just right and tender. All we could cut with a fork. Then for desert we had coffee and a small cheese cake with chocolate and a side of ice milk. It was very good considering for kosher food you can't use whole milk. This was an eye opening dining experiencing for me since I never ate at this type of restaurant. It's nice trying something new for the palate that tastes good. It was overall a great dining experience, even though they were very busy the manager and the owner Greg came over and spoke to us and asked how everything was. There was even a Rabbi on staff to oversee all was Kosher and he also came over and spoke to us. They made us feel part of the crew. We were hesitant to come here from some of the previous reviews but now it has been renovated and is under new management for a little over a month and I can see the improvement. So to sum it up, all was good even the white wine. My wife and I will return. read more

What amazing service & delicious food! We have been using Colbeh since about 2016 for all of our corporate functions. The food, service, suggestions and delivery are on point! The amount of culinary choices and presentation alone will have your guests wanting more. Colbeh is always a big hit at our corporate functions from the gorgeous Sushi/ Sashimi display to all of your hot entrees. As for delivery, Colbeh will personally deliver to your event. Place falling apart, rude manager (but polite waiters) and uninspiring food served luke warm. We wondered why it was so cold until we noticed the holes in the wall. They are using napkins as insulation (per picture). I wouldn't be surprised if the kitchen is worse. Don't ruin your evening by dining here. read more

Amazing service in a quaint little place with amazing food as expected. We came to this location because there was a private party in the Great Neck location, and the food was great. My family ordered the joobeh, koobideh, and barg with rice. They gave us fresh bread and spread for the table and tadig on the house. At the end of the meal, they also gave us tea and fruit bowls for dessert. The service was warm and friendly. They were very accommodating for my autistic brother and a larger family with small children who was dining at the same time as us. The perfect spot for some great filling kebab. read more

Still a great place to go, no complaints. The food they present is not only flavorful but the presentation is so delicately taken care of. They offer complimentary pickles and rice to start with the table. The appetizer we usually start with is the hummus, it is so creamy and delicious. You could literally eat it with just a spoon. I love coming here for a night with my parents. They eat kosher and this place is exactly that. There is rabbi present at all times and they are very welcoming. We typically order a kebab, lamb, chicken, or salmon you can't go wrong really. Everything is tender and well prepared. You have a choice of side salad, vegetables, or rice. The portions are fairly large but great to take home and eat again. For deserts they have a lovely presentation dish that they bring table-side to present. No dairy products in any of the deserts. No dairy for coffee just so you are aware. Yet it's alll delicious. It is on the expensive side but I highly recommend it's well worth it. read more

I love Persian food. This was not good Persian food. Not only was it not good BUT it was incredibly expensive. I know it is Kosher but Kosher isn't 3x more expensive. Portions are large but food was dry and fairly tasteless. I tried two types of rice. Plain basmati was tasteless. The one highlight was the rice with dill and beans. After wanting to grab a bite on my way back to JFK after staying in the Roslyn area, I decided to head to Colbeh as I had heard good things about it in the past and had not had the chance to try it while I lived on Long Island. Since I was already in the area, I got out my iPhone and called Colbeh, excited to check it out. When I called, I was assisted by Carlos, who is their Manager, on the phone. His service was excellent, as he was friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable! I found this to be this to be the case as he was able to explain everything on the menu well and since I have food allergies, explained to me everything that was in the food down to the spices and oils used, which while I only have a few allergies, was definitely appreciated. Since I wanted to try a few different things, Carlos recommended their Chelo Kebab Joujeh and Koobideh, which was their Grilled Chicken in a Lemon Saffron Vinaigrette and Charbroiled Strips of Ground Beef respectively. In addition, as I later found out, it came with a bunch of sides, making for a massive meal. Due to COVID-19, Carlos advised me that they were only doing take-out service, as the restaurant did not have sufficient room for social distancing. Nevertheless, I was excited! Once I arrived at Colbeh, I found the restaurant to be neat looking, as it looked like a cottage out of somewhere in Europe as opposed to just a regular restaurant on Long Island. First impressions held up and the inside was very quaint, with a fireplace on the right side of the restaurant, the bar in the center, wood floors, white walls, and chandeliers. I was then greeted by Carlos and Maria, who were both very friendly and welcoming. They showed me all of the food and there was more than I bargained for, as there was also a strip of Chelo Kebab Barg, a strip of Prime Beef, Basmati Rice, two Shirazhi Salads, and a crispy rice. All of my food was packed with care and they even gave me a very nice reusable bag with the restaurant's name on it. In addition, since there was no one else in the restaurant, besides another couple who ended up dining in, they even let me sit to enjoy my food, which was appreciated. I tried a little bit of all of the various foods, which were all fantastic! I first tried the Chelo Kebab Joujeh, which were small pieces of grilled chicken with the bone in, which were delicious as they were tender, moist, and cooked well and had the sweet and floral accents of saffron complemented by the tartness of the lemon. Next, I had the Koobideh, which had meaty balls of ground beef that had the bite of sweet and savory onion cooked within for additional flavor. I then had the Chelo Kebab Sultani, which had tender and mouth-watering cubes of prime beef. I then tried the Basmati Rice, which was fluffy and pleasantly salty. I also loved the Shirazhi Salads, which had sweet and savory diced tomatoes, cool and crisp cucumbers, and a slight punch of acid due to the lemon vinaigrette. Since the portions were massive, I was unable to finish the various foods and ended up eating some after I got home to Florida after my flight and for my next day at work. While the price at just under $40 was not inexpensive, the value was definitely there considering the quality of the food, the massive portion sizes, and the fact that it was kosher. If and when I am back in the Roslyn area, I would definitely go back to Colbeh. read more

I was supposed to have a lovely graduation dinner out when the restaurant decided to host an event with a speaker talking about morbid things over an amplifier. Instead of telling us in the beginning when we sat down, they let us find out for ourselves because they knew they'd lose a paying group. The speaker talked about he Italians killing Jews with Lions for sport while I tried to eat my cake. Worst service in this aspect. They don't care about their customers. Don't come here. Wonderful Company Holiday Party! We held our Co. party at Colbeh this winter and I can't say enough wonderful things about it. The atmosphere was perfect, the food was very good & the service exceptional! I would highly recommend this place for a small intimate party, for personal affairs or for a company. Pejman was extremely helpful and responsive whenever I reached out to him for questions. They were very accommodating and everyone in the Co. really enjoyed this party. The staff was very friendly. The food is a horror story. When we first got there they gave us pickled vegetables and a flat Pita. The pickled vegetables were very strange. When dinner came around I got a falafel and it was very bland and it definitely was frozen(it had bad freezer burn). They gave us complementary appetizers which was a nice thought, but that was bland and it had freezer burn. My daughter ordered ribs and they came on potato pancakes. They were flavored strange and they were also cold. My husband got a wrap of some sort and he thought salad came with it but when he opened the little tube where the steak sandwich was there was a soggy salad with white dressing. Take Out is 2/3 of Colbeh business and they are busy and handle it like Champs . Smart , proven , consistent across the board. Super authentic spices and food that has been perfected over 25 years. The Cottage is a small and friendly dining room that is well run with appropriate service. On off to LIE 495 is big and it's a few blocks away. Call ahead for take out . Not good. Fairly empty on a Wed night at 7p. Same guy who seated us was also the bartender and the waiter. Bad sign. Took forever to bring one of our drinks. Pita bread on the table was cold and as hard as matzoh. Only good thing was the comp stuff they brought out, but I can't tell you what it was because the waiter never told me. I honestly don't even know if the food was good because the service was so terrible. Upon entering the decor was very dated. I came around lunchtime with my coworkers and the restaurant was practically empty. We waited for 10 minutes until a fellow diner had to go into the kitchen and inform the waiter that there were customers outside. There were marks and imprints on everyone's glasses on the table. Needless to say, we all ordered soda. When we placed our order for appetizers and entrees, it was only until he brought out one of our appetizers, that he informed us that some of our other orders were unavailable. He brought out substitutes, which was nice I suppose. Thank goodness, because it took quite long for our entrees to come out, meanwhlie there was barely anyone in the restaurant. The food was okay. BEWARE OF COLBEH CATERERS AND CARLYLE venues: For months you plan a party with the hopes that it will be a fabulous and fun night for all. Certain people went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and wanted for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah. Bobby Farokzad and Eli Aronshvilli from Studio Flash, Amir Shah, you guys are THE BEST and we thank you tremendously! We wanted to throw a club style party, different from the usual temple parties. After speaking with many to find a cool venue, we were introduced to Carlyle at the Palace by Colbeh caterers. We had never worked with Steve Carl of Carlyle and Colbeh only once so we were nervous as to what they would deliver. We sat in countless meetings going over menus and decor, and stressed the importance of the food, the variety and abundance of it, along with the other million details that go along with these parties. We NEVER negotiated the price, just asked that everything would be top of the line. At $200 a person, this is NOT what we received!!! The night of the party, the event coordinator, Brittany, who sat in every single meeting, never showed up. Steve himself left after a couple of hours to take his "girlfriend" out...are you kidding me?? The cake was not there for candlelighting, arriving instead at 10:30...an hour after we had already finished. I have no pictures with this cake. You cannot redo that. The dinner was not the menu we had agreed on and was cleaned up and closed at 10:30, when we had agreed that it would be open and replenished until 12:30! Why would they do that?? There was no dessert room. Just passed around desserts. The cakes and pies and cookies that we had paid for were not present. Every single guest was supposed to have bagged hot pretzels and chocolate chip cookies at their departure. Oops, they forgot to load the catering truck with the machines. The list goes on and on...and all of these things were brought to our attention by our close family and friends after the fact. The next day when we approached both sides with a very nice letter thanking them and wanting to address these issues, we were dismissed. Since then, we have tried numerous times to reach out and were met with denials and them blaming each other for whatever went wrong. Not even one apology. No responsibility. They knew how to take top dollar for the party but didn't want to even speak with us afterward. This is not how you build your brand or your reputation. What both of you Carlyle and Colbeh just did was embarrass yourself in front of 350 of my guests. Do you really think any of them will come back and reserve a party with either of you? SHAME ON YOU BOTH!!! We will NEVER work with you again. I hope this post makes others think a second time before wanting to work with these two companies. JUST DON'T DO IT!!! read more
