He took about 5-10 minutes and explained different parts of the board, like the camber and the directional vs twin builds, which definitely helped me feel a bit more confident about the type of board that I wanted to get. Since I came at the end of the season, they were doing a sale, so the value was good, but the selection was really limited in my size since they were doing a sale. I'd definitely recommend stopping by and asking the pros about the gear if you're new or unsure.

It's wild walking into the American Dream mall and suddenly stepping into a real indoor snow park with actual snow, lifts, and multiple slopes. Perfect for scratching that ski/snowboard itch when it's 90 degrees outside or just getting some practice in during the off-season. The snow felt legit (cold and grippy), the terrain park features were fun and progressive for all levels, and the staff was helpful with rentals and getting everyone set up. We did a couple of hours and it was plenty of time to get solid runs in, work on technique, and hit some jumps and rails without the usual outdoor crowds or icy conditions. Great for beginners and families. There is also snow tubing which was really fun! If you wanna practice skiing or snowboarding but are still a bit iffy on going on an actual mountain, this can be a great option for you to get started.

It was my first time skiing or snowboarding but I was fortunate to have a friend with me that can teach me how to snowboard. I think at base price the day pass only provides 2 hours on the slopes which is not a lot of time, I don't think I would pay full price out of pocket. There was a Groupon offer at the time that significantly reduced the price of my visit and at the price point I would encourage going. While there isn't anyone there to actively teach you how to ski or snowboard, the fake snow is quite soft making it a good place to learn. However the slopes aren't too steep and it's hard to gain speed so if you are someone experienced not sure if I would recommend this visit. Staff is incredibly nice at helping you fit into your snowboard or ski or grab rentals with the all inclusive day pass. The lines can get long so I would say in a 2 hour period we were able to get on the lift about 7-8 times. But I had a fine time during my visit here. I think it's a great place to start your ski and snowboard journey, fall at ton but safely on soft snow to break the initial fear of trying something new. However would probably not come again.

When you shop for skates you will regret it if you just take your shoe size and purchase the skate of matching size. Or (worst of all) purchase online based on price. You should be fitted by someone experienced. They will look at your foot, your ankles, how often you skate and recommend a brand, fit and boot stiffness that is appropriate for your needs. And they will match other prices.

The trade up program is far more cost effective than renting each season and no other ski shop (that I know of) offers anything remotely like it. Before I detail this program, I want to shoutout Garrett and all the staff here. They're knowledgeable and really great with kids too. Also, realize that "warehouse" is in the name to help manage expectations. You're not in a Bloomingdale's or super upscale resort shop here, but the prices are great and reflect that lower overhead. Here's how the trade up program works: -You *purchase* a pair of skis and boots for your kids when you first sign them up. That equipment is yours forever. -As your kids grow, you have the option of trading up for bigger skis and/or boots for $25 each. An annual tuneup costs $25. This is a fixed cost and guaranteed for the duration of the program, until your child turns 13. So for us, for one kid, we paid $200 at the start, then $50 the next season, then $75, then $50, then $50 (this all depends on whether you need bigger equipment each season or mid-season). By comparison, to rent each year, you're looking at $150+$150+$150+$150 and so on (assuming no price increases). And the skis aren't yours to keep at any point. So depending on how quickly your kids grow, you're coming out ahead after just a few ski seasons, plus a set of skis and boots to walk away with when you're done (remember, you purchased at the beginning). This is a NO BRAINER! From the service to the prices and the unparalleled trade up program, I cannot recommend Actyve Ski Warehouse enough!!

We had such a great experience coming to the Solow Sports at the National Tennis Center. I can't…read moreeven begin to explain how great and the complete opposite experience we had coming here than what we endured at the two Wilson stores. Growing up playing tennis in NYC, I always encounter not enough information gets funneled out or people wanting to share resources. So this right here is for all my first timers. Allow me to give you all necessary information so you don't get deterred. By car, you would have to go to parking B, usually closest to the train and you know you're on the right path. By train, it's literally down the platform and walk towards the Chase building towards the right of the box office window. There's a small gate where you would enter the Chase building, pass the front desk, into a small lounge and you would find the store. First, they rarely pick up their phones. It's a small shop, and understand why they probably won't. They are constantly assisting passerby customers or stringing racquets. This place is interesting because they allowed us, or rather insist on borrowing a racquet before our play time to get a feel before purchasing. I was really thrown off by the practice but I must admit, an extremely effective one!! I was really stunned because the gentleman even showed me the drop box to return the racquet if the store is closed. . We ended purchasing the racquet with more confidence knowing we got to try it for the weekend. I can't recommend this no frill place enough. The experience I had from the Wilson store to this was like night and day. Non pretentious, experts giving you honest advice based on your needs. The store was filled with everything you need. They even sell 17" racquets. I never seen those in person at a store. Really decent prices, great lounge for your waiting needs and a fabulous view to one of the best venue in Queens.

I'm an attorney so it's my nature to ask a lot of questions and Dimos had an answer for everything and did not get annoyed even for a second (I was annoyed at myself for asking so many questions lol). He is also very personable and we were able to chat about our own tennis experiences, even about how our Fathers are still holding down the tennis courts these days! He really took time to explain so much and because of him, this is now my go-to tennis store for anything tennis whether it's for tennis shoes, a new racquet or grabbing a few tennis balls.
