When I sat down at the bar the bartender didn't even acknowledge my presence. Like no hey I'll be with you in a second, just ignored me. Food was decent. A little on the pricy side, but what isn't these days. However, 1 glass of Diet Coke was $4. From a fountain machine. My jaw dropped. That is outrageous. Super negative experience here. Food was great, but the service couldn't be worse. The bartender heard me discussing my order. He thought he heard what I wanted, I was trying to be polite. When the food comes, it is not the sandwich I ordered. I politely asked for the correct sandwich I ordered. The bartender says- "do you want to take this home- I'm going to throw it in the garbage!" I said ok fine! Thanks. New food comes, I eat my meal. The check comes and the first sandwich is on the bill. I politely ask for that to be taken off the bill. The bartender started arguing with me, saying he would not take the sandwich off the bill. He was super rude and aggressive. I was being as understanding as possible through the entire experience, so I was surprised when he got aggressive. He tried to take the sandwich away at this point , and I said if you're going to charge me you aren't going to also throw this in the garbage. Just a really negative experience when it wasn't needed. The food is good, make sure they get your order right- or else you're paying for a full extra meal. They don't refund or stand by their word here. read more

We've been here at the outside bar numerous times, but because it was too cold we went to the inside bar for the first time. The bartender Jay seemed catatonic and very disengaged. Normally when you order drinks and food at a bar you get the best service because the bartender is right there and engages, but not in this case. It took a few minutes just to get menus and then another few minutes to ask what we wanted. We ordered drinks and food and I asked for two glasses of water, which is a simple request. He was busy making drinks for the wait staff, instead of just giving us two glasses of water while we were waiting. I would say we sat at there about 15 minutes with nothing as if we were invisible. We saw one woman come in, and didn't order anything and he gave her water while we didn't even get that. We got up to leave and spoke to the manager Anthony about why we were leaving. He profusely apologized and guaranteed we would get good service and sat us at a table inside. Thank goodness for him or we would have just gone to the train without dinner. Anthony was very courteous and truly bothered by the way we were treated. At least we received good service from Ermilda and we enjoyed the food. Jay did make our drinks, and honestly we were nervous to drink them because he did see us talk to Anthony, Hopefully he didn't put anything in the drinks We are both ok and I'm here to tell the story, but you never know. If we get mysteriously ill in a few days I'll update this review, but as of now we are fine. Anyway, the service and food here is always spot on, so I don't get why this bartender behaved like this. He must be a relative of the owner or someone because we've never seen such a disengaged bartender ever. We noticed he didn't engage with anyone so we won't take it personally but not to even bring us water, in 15 minutes no less make our drinks was unacceptable. This is one of the harder restaurants to review with its ups and downs. I can only write what I experienced as with all reviews, but this one really goes to extremes. The staff was very accommodating when we had to wait, yet when seated they were nowhere to be found when we needed immediate attention after ordering meals and drinks. I will not go into that. The place is clean yet certain areas needed to be addressed sooner than later. Portions were small, prices reasonable. The RR runs right through the rear of the building and some of the trains run by at 50 mph. You can imagine what it does to conversation , yikes!! read more

Came here obviously on a Saturday for lunch after my morning Hike at Hudson Highlands State Park and it was awesome. I sat at the outdoor bar since it was only me and my dog Dex and they were awesome with him. They brought him a bowl of water while I had my lager and their crispy chicken sandwich (not pictured) that was delicious. It was the perfect spot for a post hike meal! The one star is for good service. Our server was really nice and attentive. We shared a few dishes with my wife including mussels. Aside from lack of coconut flavor in the dish, I hit a few very strange tasting ones where i had to pull them out of my mouth and two of us only finished half of the dish. What could go wrong? I got home after several hours of driving and had a whole night of vomiting, stomach cramps, fever, and diarrhea, begging to be released from allowing the poison to take over. If you ever got food poisoning before, You know how painful it is. Im surprised the health department hasn't close this place down. The perfect establishment in Cold Spring! We arrived at 12PM when they opened on a Saturday and opted to sit outside since it was a beautiful day. It's dog friendly, so we brought our pup. Their menu ranges from burgers, to salads and sandwiches. We got the poutine to start - so unhealthy but so yummy! Chunks of ham, cheese smothered in gravy. In addition, we got the Fried Chicken Torta and the Dallas Burger. They do not cheap out on the portions! So yummy and we left so full. They also have an extensive beer menu, but no cocktails I don't think. Great vibes and good hospitality. Definitely recommend getting there when they first open. This has been our dining spot for a number of years with my family. We come in the summertime. Very convenient if you're taking the train. The station is located just south of the restaurant, and easy to get to. We've made reservations every time we went because let's face it, it can be crowded. For most of our visit we've dinned outside, but one year we ate inside because it rained. The scenery is great and if you're a train enthusiast (railfan), you're in for a treat. Amtraks are the killer since they don't stop at Cold Spring, so be prepared. Service is great, but sometimes can be on the slow side, and I'm not sure if it's due to being understaffed or being extremely busy. Very solid food spot for no-frills pub food in the center of Cold Spring. I have eaten here several times while waiting for a train after a ride. The menu is burgers, beers, etc. Recently, I came here with my wife and son. We sat outside and after we explained that our baby boy was on a short fuse, our server entered the food quickly, got us our check quickly and got us on our way. We had burgers and fries, nice and easy. Everything was good, no complaints on the food. My hiking group was ravenous after a day on Breakneck. Thai wings, Reuben poutine, schnitzel, pretzel, and lots of beers were put away as fast as they came. If we didn't have to catch a train back to NYC we could have been there another two hours. Like anywhere else in Cold Spring, expect a line. I completely forgot my credit card in the midst of trying to catch my train and the server took after me and gave it to me as I was catching the train! Barely made it! 10/10! Spent the day in Cold Spring and boy was it COLD! After perusing around the shops, we built up quite the appetite. Found this on Google and were glad we did. The place was packed but worth the short wait. We ordered two Double Double Burgers with truffle fries. Both were top notch. Burger was juicy and tasty, especially with the grilled onions. Lovely historic 1893 train depot turned into a restaurant. The outdoor seating area is lovely. We enjoyed the pretzels, calamari, grilled cheese, beet & burrata salad, broccoli & baby kale salad with steak, and bread pudding. Everything was delicious. The waitstaff is wonderful and personable, especially Anthony & Patrick. It's dog friendly, and a really easy walk from the Cold Spring train station. Bear in mind that you are next to the train tracks. MetroNorth and Amtrak trains go by every half-hour or so (NOT every few minutes). read more

We came here after hiking, and it was the perfect place to relax with a casual meal and beer. There is outdoor seating in the warmer months, so we took advantage of that. Plus, there is a guitarist outside who plays live music. There are a few bugs flying around, but it never became annoying (i.e., no flies swarming our food or mosquito bites). The food was average. I had the NE clam chowder and a lobster BLT with a side of smoked potato salad. The clam chowder had decent-sized pieces of clam and was delicious. My entree was a bit underwhelming, mostly because everything was underseasoned, but the food was not bad. I was super excited to see that they had Hell or High Watermelon beer on the menu! This place has a great outdoor seating area. Theres an outside bar that is super cool. It was very busy - Waited about ten min for a table (I was pleased with that). Waitress was neither friendly nor nasty, just kinda going through the motions. My drink was always full so I cant complain too much. My only complaint is the food took 45 minutes to get to the table. I know they were busy, but this place is busy EVERY WEEKEND. 45 minutes was inexcusable, and I got no explanation or excuse from the blah waitress. Food was good though and she handled the check pretty quickly. I will go back- The ambiance is really nice and the food was good. Hopefully the long wait was a fluke. Great bar area where everyone feels welcome....(like Cheers!) smartly separated from the main dining rooms (good to keep the noise out). The Depot is the largest restaurant in town and in the warm months their huge patio opens up with tables under large umbrellas. It must increase the seating by at least 33%. The Depot is steeped in historical footnotes , as is the whole town of Cold Spring. The website has lots of info about the place (like being haunted) as well as info on what's going on in town. The decor is cozy and warm. The service friendly and attentive. Apps-- classics like fried calamari and wings (with multiple versions) as well as current trendy apps like avocado toast, Mexican street corn (charred with cotija cheese, chili lime aioli, radish and cilantro) and Burrata cheese with arugula pesto and tomato.....If you like fresh mozzarella, you will fall in love with burrata (look it up!) Entrees-- BIG salads \ Big burgers (8 oz Angus) \ Sandwiches like the Lobster BLT (yum) Sunday brunch has a nice special menu with $7 Bloody Marys and Mimosas) I was pleasantly surprised to see a dish i met in New Orleans called Croque Madame. Came here on a sunny Sunday and we got really hungry so we looked up a place to eat and came across the Cold Spring depot. Luckily there was no line when we arrived but as soon as we sat down, a line of people waiting to be seated formed. We both got the burger which was really good. I highly recommend it! This is the cutest little place with the best little outdoor dining area. I absolutely adored my spring putting here. You see lots of dogs and flower petals in the outdoor area so its a fun atmosphere and everything smells amazing too. I stopped off for a snack and ended up ordering a basket of truffle fries with parmisean. The fries were amazing. I sat and ate a few while I soaked up the amazing view and the sunshine. The fries had great flavor and weren't too oily. The staff was actually amazingly friendly. My phone went dead while I was there and they actually plugged it in whole I waited. I'll be excited to come back for happy hour. They have a few $5 menu options. This is just one of those places that will make you happy when you stop by cold spring. read more

We ordered a jumbo pretzel, french onion soup, poutine, korean fried chicken burger, normal burger, and a quesadilla.
