I haven't had bad experiences at restaurants before this but unfortunately the experience here was poor. To start positively, the ambience of the farm house is quaint. It was nice to have a conversation with our group. It has a very warm atmosphere. Our food was good I got the hot honey chicken. My wife got the fish and chips both were good. A couple in our group got their food and it was cold but the cook made them a second order. The wait staff was not trained well and seemed very overwhelmed and irritated by the number of customers. Our food order was taken and it took 40 mins before the first dish was on the table. A few of the drinks were forgotten and the waitress was irritated when we asked any questions regarding the order. The Bloody Mary was very salty and undrinkable. Needless to say the cook/owner came out to care for our bill and was irritated when one of our group was asked how long we waited, by a customer and we informed them of the long wait time. He told us to leave and never come back to his restaurant. After the heated exchange I attempted to have a calm conversation outside and he wouldn't allow, nor take the time to have a polite conversation. Though the food was good, I will not be returning due to the rude interchange, that wasn't very professional for a cook/owner. I would not recommend this establishment. read more

Found out about this place at work and my team decided to give it a try. Was unsure if we could order from the dinner menu at lunchtime so I called to ask - awesome that you can order from lunch and dinner menus all day on Friday, Sat and Sun. I pre-ordered for pickup on their website online and included some notes (sauce and slaw on the side). They have some specials, so pay attention to their instagram page weekly. Had some time to check out the store while I waited for our pickup order. It is a cute place with tables to eat, fridge full of specialty drinks, small deli counter, a few local products for sale, and a bar in the back. Space was very clean and bright. I had the fried chicken with fries which was pretty solid albeit a little small. They included the hot sauce and slaw on the side as per my notes (we drove from 15 minutes away). The portions are a little smaller than you might expect for the price, but it makes sense for premium product. I tried a bite of the split rock sandwich, which was also very tasty and on nice homemade bread. I have been enjoying the Farm House Market since it first opened, often getting sandwiches on the weekly. Unfortunately, recently the quality of the food has gone way down. The food used to be thoughtfully put together, and now it feels as if they couldn't care less about the quality. I sat down with my family the other day. We ordered steak nachos and two sandwiches. Look at the photo of the nachos. There was barely any cheese, no thought or care, and the piece of steak are so big you can't even enjoy it. This place, I like how they really honor local meats, vegetables and fruits, it's nice and really just reading the menu you can tell exactly what your getting. So the service here was very friendly and awesome, I enjoyed the fact I was informed of all local events here and really selling all great menu options. Felt like a local when ordering here. So the food, the mine hill sandwich, really good homemade ciabatta bread, fresh veggies and light smears of mayo and vinegary tomatoes and really good dry aged cheese, pretty artisan to me. For the spicy chicken, glad they use chicken thighs for the patty over chicken breast, it was very juicy and crispy, slaw was alright and the side of fries, pretty cool how it's like potato wedges but very thin and lightly salted. Brats in blanket, great flaky dough and meaty not over cooked brats, never thought I like brats more in a blanket in pigs, loved the Dijon mustard dipping sauce, but really the chimichurri sauce dip seemed out of place for a dip and did not taste great as dip for the brats. We ordered a cheese burger, a cold wrap, a chicken sandwich, and fish and chips and grilled cheese with fries. The quality didn't match the prices; the burger was cold, without cheese and overcooked, the fries were also cold. **Service:** We waited 15 minutes for service from our waitress, Ivy. When we asked about something on the menu she began to complain about the menu changing frequently and having many typos and it being hard for her to keep up. Mixed drinks were ordered, some made poorly and some never arriving. Once i finished my meal without receiving the drink i ordered and noticed another table who arrived after us receive their drinks i flagged down the other employee to have my drink order canceled as Ivy had ignored my previous attempts to inquire about my drink as she walked pass our table. When someone in the party mentioned their cold food, Ivy walked away without communicating a resolution. Some time later another burger was brought to the table and forced upon them. I had ordered a grill cheese sandwhich and fries which while a simple meal, were not the quality I'd expect to pay for in a restaurant. They also brought me a new plate of food that I hadn't asked for, and when i questioned why, Ivy just took my empty plate from me and shoved the new plate of food in front of me. ( I decided not to eat it because why?) Ivy didn't check on us during this meal we had to flag down help everytime. Her demeanor was rude and dismissive. This might have been due to understaffing. She appeared to be the only one waitressing and bar tending. There was a young guy there as well cleaning tables and helping to seat people. He was kind and pleasant, but not knowledgeable about the menu. It appears the owner was cooking outside. When another table asked about our experience, we mentioned the long wait. The manager then approached us, wrongly accusing us of telling others to leave. I wanted to explain the issue but he wouldn't listen. We were just waiting for our check, which he insisted we didn't need to pay. Onlookers decided to leave during this very uncomfortable exchange. I saw the owner folloe them down the street telling them to come back inside. They did not. Overall, I was really rooting for this spot as I love locally owned places. But I will not be returning to the farmhouse. I sincerely hope that management will be more open to constructive feedback in the future. read more

Looked like an attractive place with innovative sandwiches, but we were greeted by incompetent and extremely rude service. A simple order: two wraps, one without onion. After twenty minutes they arrived, but both had onion. Sent one back and then realized they weren't going to remake it. When I asked if they were remaking the wrap, the server said--"Well, I can ask her," but then grew exasperated and asked us to leave. Was looking for a places in Cornwall I haven't been yet and came upon the Farmhouse. Previously, it was a market only, but they have now updated to have a restaurant and bar. The bar has a few beers on draft, a small wine and liquor selection and they said will be getting wine on draft which I found interesting. The charcuterie selection and made to order sandwiches and sides looked tasty. We ordered Mac and Cheese to start as an appetizer. I got the Chicken Sandwich and my co-worker got the country fried steak. Both were delicious. The chicken sandwich sounds a little bizarre based in the ingredients but the all complimented each other for great flavor. I'm picky on my Mac and cheese.... cause I love cheese... it was very good and cheesy. I was disappointed because I really wanted the brats in blankets. But.. that just means I have to go back! The owner is a piece of garbage. My husband made a reservation on April 30th for mother's day for a party of 8. The day before, he gets an email telling him it's been cancelled. He gets a hold of the owner who tells him that he decided he didn't want reservations that day. when he changed his mind he didn't bother calling the patrons who had reservations because "he had better things to do.". He also told my husband to "put his big boy pants on and make a reservation elsewhere.". Obviously the day before mother's day doesn't leave many options for reservations for a party of 8. This included 3 very young children, hence why we can't just go anywhere and wait around hoping a table for a large party is available on one of the busiest brunch days of the year. The way he was so cavalier and disrespectful is disgusting. No one should give this guy their money. read more

Completely understanding that on a Friday our order of a kids cheeseburger, steak sandwich, and fish & chips would take an hour (we were told 30-40 min). But I was expecting out food to be kind of warm as we live in walking distance. Steak sandwich was hot (also had an entire hot pepper with all seeds) but the rest was room temperature, not even lukewarm. Then I opened the fish & chips and the fish was 50-75% smaller than it was a year ago. Still priced at $18 and tasted less fresh and mainly consisted of batter. Other then having an incredible selection of sandwiches with fresh ingredients from all over the Hudson valley, they have a a store full of locally produced goods even drinks made in the Hudson valley! It's so good to see a shop using everything locally sourced. to get to the sandwich I had tonight the rattlesnake hill fresh baguette perfectly chewy with this creamy cheese and right at the end of the bite you get the acidity and sweetness from the fresh greens and delicious raspberry balsamic glaze. The server just walks away so I asked if it was supposed to come with fries and he said Um yeah and that the sandwich should've been hot. The service was very disorganized, although the staff was friendly. I ordered their tempura fish and chip. It was an embarassing excuse for a meal. There was one small piece of fried fish the size of an Amazon Fire Stick which was 65% batter, priced at a wopping 17.99. I asked if there was a mistake, and I was told it was a "big piece of fish". If I was in the movie Downsize starring Matt Damon and I was shrunk down into a tiny version of myself yeah it would be big, massive if you are so inclined. I don't know what this lady was smoking, but maybe I needed to hit whatever she was on to understand what the hell she was talking about. Ive been wanting to try the Farm House Market out for a while now! The vibe from the outside looks trendy and friendly... however, when you walk inside the shop is barren... It reminded me of fake store fronts I saw in Kazakhstan, if you know what I mean. I was the only customer in the store so I felt pressured to order/buy something. The sandwiches/salads and pre-made food were all way over priced, but I ordered the Penny Lane sandwich ($12.99) which was basically just a BLT with extra deli meat. I was pretty disappointed. The Farmhouse Market is undoubtedly the best business to come to Cornwall in a long time. Whether you are taking a trip through the Hudson Valley or a local to the area, trying the market is a must. My family has tried a little bit of everything: their salads, sandwiches, local groceries, drinks and dinner specials- all have been fantastic. Their charcuterie boxes (from a charcuterie snob) is some of the best I've had. You can tell thought has been put into each dish and the pairings are incredible. We are looking for an excuse to have them cater for us and look forward to their specials around the holidays! On top of it all, the staff has been so pleasant to engage with and helpful with any questions.
