Ordered a birthday ice cream cake from here and am very disappointed. Attached is a picture from the website, which is what I was expecting. Instead, I got the other picture attached. Note that the dark blue outline was added by me to try and fix it (no luck there), but all the cake had was a very poorly written, off centered message. The rest of the icing was also very sloppy. Came in on a friday night and it was empty. Two guys were working- one guy with curly hair was cool and helpful. Another guy wearing a hat was pretty rude. I dropped a $5 tip bc i know what that grind is like and at the end my son asked if he could get a few gummi bears on his bc ruse dude never asked if we wanted anything mixed in with it. The young man who helped us was outgoing and helpful. The ice cream was very good and enjoyed by all. The restaurant was spotless. Even the food cases and windows were smudge free. Tables were wiped clean. The lady that rang up our order was a bit under the weather, though. She sneezed (and thank you for turning away from us while doing so). She also coughed. She repeatedly went from handling the register and money to serving food without hand washing. She touched her face and then put lids on beverages with her palm touching the whole lid top. Cold stone ice cream is always delicious and I love having it mixed however way I want my ice cream. The down sides to this location is that it isn't keep very clean. The tables were sticky, and the outside tables were dirty, with trash strewn around the patio. Service was okay. The woman serving us did a good job and was nice, but not necessarily cheerful like I'm used to from Cold Stone. There was another server that had his Airpods in, and didn't speak or showed any facial expression, probably because he was just zoned out and listening to his Airpods. We've been searching for a new nob hill hang out for ice cream ever since Ecco Gelato closed. And while the service and ice cream is pretty good, unfortunately the outdoor seating area in the summer needs serious attention. The patio at first glance looks inviting, lots of potential seating, but now I understand why Kelly's next door is packed and cold stone empty. Between the smelly dumpster on the west and the marginal chain smoking sales people set up on the sidewalk homesteading the non smelly part of the patio, the patio is totally uninviting and unpleasant. My wife and I went tonight with our ten year old son, and while I understand Albuquerque is casual and informal, do you really need to have the sales people set up in front of the sidewalk chain smoking with a banner saying"Jewelry and CRAP" C'mon Albuquerque business owners you do better than that. I imagine we were not the only family looking for ice cream in the summer and a pleasant place to sit. Not here! Too bad, I would love to give this place 4 stars but until the patio issues are addressed by corporate, two stars is all I can give. The manager and staff were nice and courteous when we mentioned the chain smoking men "salespeople" that hijacked the patio, but I don't think they will say anything to them. That's a good and bad thing I suppose because parking can be a little weird. We went down an alley that we thought would have parking but dumped us out on the other side of the block, no big deal. If you decide to come here I recommend only paying cash. I was in Sunday and had a "like it" size ice cream. I paid with a card and signed my receipt which was $5 and change. I checked my online statement a couple days later and noticed the employee had chosen to give themselves an over 100% tip. I called to let them know about the situation and it has not been resolved. I'm very disappointed with the situation. As far as the ice cream was concerned, it was okay. The guy making my ice cream seemed to have zero interest in his job and barely mixed the ice creams and toppings together. When I've been here in the past it becomes one cohesive ice cream. This time is was poorly mixed. I do not recommend coming here, there are many better options in Albuquerque. read more

Horrible customer service.... we ordered a cake here for Father's Day and my sister was waiting inside for about an hour for the cake. We had ordered ahead and did not receive a call about the cake not being able to be ready. The lady said they didn't have the cake and they couldn't do a refund because the manager wasn't there.... No cake and no refund?! Then they said they only had a small one. So we wait. Then the girl comes out and says she doesn't want to make it poorly and to come back tomorrow (on Father's Day) to get it. Granted they refunded us and gave us a free cake, but the hassle we went through... I would've rather been refunded and ordered the full sized cake from somewhere else. I will preface this by saying- I am from the land of artisan dairy. Ben and Jerry's Friendly's, Hood, Kimball farms, Herell's, Cabot(just cheese) to name a few. My aunt also from the land of dairy gave me a 10$ gift card. Now my aunt usually has good taste. She used to buy nothing but Hagen Daz, in the 80's. So we went and had a sundae. We got the waffle cone bowl with chocolate like product and nuts, which tasted stale. The Sundae was a peanut butter chocolate one, with supposed whipped cream. Everything tasted artificial, the whipped cream was more cool whip. Something I loathe-plasticy too sweet corn based fake dairy. This was just not good. It was expensive to boot. All I can say is glad I didn't pay for it. Friendly's an ice cream based restaurant in the northeast puts you to shame Coldstone. On a positive note, service was excellent. The stoner clerk- young adult was awesome. He was very excited about the product, and gave me hope that I would like it- alas! I work nearby and in summer their dumpster is one of the worst smelling in the city. Even when we went in May, the little garbage can stunk, avoid sitting near it at all costs. read more

AVOID THIS STORE!!! I placed the order on doordash apprx 920pm, I was advised 20 mins and I could go pick it up when I got the notification. I was driving around the neighborhood, because parking is limited on central. At 10:05 I went to the store because I was still waiting for notification to change from "preparing order" to "ready for pickup". I called several times to see what was happening And then decided to get down and To my surprise the door was locked and I could see a lady mopping the floor. I knocked on the door and said "it shows you are still preparing my order". She pointed to the sign that said open and it was turned off. I then said loudly to the door "if you didn't prepare my order then can you please cancel it so I can get my refund." Again she's pointed to the sign. I tried to ask the lady if someone would answer the phone so I could explain that since they accepted my order and had marked it as being preparing that it prevents us from cancelling the order and being issued a refund. Guess what happened next, another finger pointing to the sign. instead of ice cream I got a 20 minute phone call to doordash explaining the situation and how I could not cancel and how the store would not cancel the order and now I have to wait 5-7 business days for a refund of something that was never made. There should be a process setup for this to prevent closing the store while active orders are "still being prepared" or if they are not going to make it they have the option to refuse the order. More training is needed for this staff on how to use their tools, proper closing procedures, and most of all compassion and customer service. On a side note the cold stone on Pan American stays open later and was kind enough to take my order over the phone. My advice is to avoid this store and go to a different one that does care about the customer. This would've been resolved with a simple tap of a button if they would've cared to look at the situation. VERY RUDE but I'm sure she got home on time. read more

I have been to several Cold Stone locations and have always loved their sorbet. It is dairy free and tastes great. I went to this location for the first time today and was very disappointed. I ordered two of their largest size containers, a strawberry and a lemon. I could tell that they don't keep their sorbet cold enough by the way they scooped it out. When I got it home and opened the lemon one it wasn't even close to being full. I paid about $15 for it and I expected a full container. The sorbet didn't taste right. Maybe it has to do with the temperature they kept it at. I do not recommend this location and I will not go there again. read more

Big bummer Nob Hill lost their gelato shop. Cold stone is fine in a pinch for good ice cream, there's nothing "wrong" with it and the service is really up to standard. It just isn't particularly original or outta sight, the same basic formula of cone, cream, choose your condiments--although there are definitely a lot of toppings to pick from. We walked about one block in relatively mellow summer air before the stuff turned to soup. Im gonna have to rate you guys a 2 star tonight. Now this is an issue we have run into before but its becoming a trend and those of you who love ice cream should listen. My girlfriend and I love to frequent this establishment and love going on late night ice cream runs (usually 30 minuets prior to closing or earlier) always satisfying except for those handfull of times in the past that run along side what happened tonight. we arrived at cold stone at about 9:40 pm time posted for closing online as well as on the sign on the locked door was 10:00pm. the building was empty and locked with the lights off and nobody inside. It appears with how many tubs of ice cream that get stored each night that preparation for closing had to have begun at least 20-30 minuets prior to our arrival. in the past we have arrived at about 9pm and were greeted by a bunch of employees who looked and acted pissed that we made them have to serve us. If you are going to close at 9:30pm then post on your sign that you close at 9:30pm and we wont have to waste our time or be left dis satisfied and without ice cream. times like these make me think twice about going out for ice cream especially on a cold night... you could be making money when times are slow but instead you are losing regular customers for the long term. late night Ice cream lovers be aware this establishment is unreliable and will close early... read more
