I hadn't been to a Cold Stone since I was a kid. My partner and I decided to get some ice cream and came to this place around 8pm. It's in the restaurant plaza, which has college town vibes. The single worker who was staffing the shop was polite and efficient and gave great portion sizes. That's the only reason this review is 2 stars instead of 1, since the quality of the ice cream was an entirely different story. It tasted like slightly cold fluff with toppings inside. Mine (Cookie dough ice cream) even came half melted. I do not get ice cream for some fluffy sugar; I want it to be cold, creamy, and to slowly melt in my mouth. First off, I would give this dirty place zero stars if it were an option. When you walk in the front door, there is gunk and stains all over the door, even the handles as you come in and going out were dirty and sticky. The workers did not wear gloves or hair nets. Coming here was a waste of time and money as the ice-cream tasted old and stale. So, I trashed it. The strawberries in my ice cream tasted like freezer burn and like if you stepped on it that it would turn to dust. I lost my appetite seeing all the filth. This is probably the worst ice cream place for the price. The anti griddle stone was not working and had someone go in the back and mix everything in a bowl. The quality of the ice cream has fallen off, very airy like the ice cream in a Walmart ice cream sandwich that doesn't melt but paying for premium ice cream money... I ordered two cones and it ended up being $16.28... supermarket ice would have been a more premium experience. Edible but not good quality. Not planning on coming here again. I find it quite odd that the last three times I have come here, they were out of at least half of their ice creams. One time I came, they didn't even have chocolate ice cream. I came in with a friend, who has a variety of allergies, and he asked for a special request since they did not have one of the only flavors he can have. We were told they could not mix more than three flavors, even though for two of the flavors there wasn't even enough to make a like it. My friend wanted a gotta have it. So... my roommate and I have a tradition of getting a Coldstone cake every 2 weeks or so and have a slice before we go to bed (yes, we're fat kids at heart). It's an expensive and fattening habit, but try it. Your happiness will increase tenfold. You will also sleep better at night. (Warning: these statements have not been proven but I will swear by them anyway) So on the menu hanging up, they have this Chocolate Devotion ice cream cake, yet none in the freezer. The person working there said you have to custom order it 24 hours before it will be ready. So I said fine and put in my order. I asked him if I could pay when I picked it up but he told me store policy was you had to pay when you put in the order. So I did. He wrote my order in magic marker on the back of a receipt, along with my first name, and I told him to take down my phone number also. And I said cya in 24 hours. I came back at 7pm the next day, 26 hours later, and the same guy helped me. He looked worried and said they forgot to make my cake and to come back the next day. Came back the next day and it was still not made. They forgot again. The guy promised me he would make it before closing and I could pick it up the next day. I left again, no cake in hand. I came back the next day around 5 and the cake was not ready. He said the person who was supposed to ice it forgot to, but it would be done by the end of the night. So I said see cya in 5 hours. When I came back later, it was not done. He said to come back the next day. Went there the next day at 7pm when we agreed and the lady was icing it right as I was standing there. She said it would need time to freeze again and asked what topping decorations I wanted on it. I told her the ones in the picture would be fine. Came back 2 hours later, it was done thank goodness! I told her what happened and asked if I could have a free ice cream to compensate my troubles and she agreed. So I left double-fisting with a cake and a Cookie-Don't-You-Want-Some. I worked for Carvel a few years ago so I know how an ice cream place, where people order cakes, should function. The fact that they wrote my order on the back of a receipt was my first sign of trouble on the water-- this place is poorly managed. For a chain, they should have some sort of system in place for taking cake orders. And if corporate doesn't have one, then they should create one. It's not that hard. Have a notebook of orders and make sure certain people on certain shifts are assigned to do the various cake-making tasks. It's not that hard. So four days later I got my cake (which they made me pay for the day I ordered it Monday, and I got it Friday) even though it was only supposed to take 24 hours. I was having serious doubts about whether I would get this cake at all. I'm happy I did, but pissed with their disorganization. What if it was actually someone's birthday?? This situation is unacceptable and easily avoidable. If you are looking to get your ice cream, its fine. You are going to get the same "ice cream blob of treats" as any other Coldstone. But if you need more than that, buyer beware. If you are ordering a cake, either get one from the freezer or order it days in advance. That's my warning! read more

I choose to come here because of how convenient it's location is for me, I just wish the service would be better. I have seen a cockroach on the floor and I was disgusted I walked right out. Despite that unpleasant experience I decided to give this place another chance. My last visit here I got a cone and it tasted really bad! I definitely will not be ordering a cone again. A good thing is that I usually get the same 2 flavors and they always seem to be available. Sometimes the line is to the door even though it's winter. Also, their hours should be updated if they change seasonally. Some employees are more welcoming than others. The gentleman who served me was very kind and patient with me while I was indecisive on what ice cream flavor to get. I wish I got his name, but shout out to him! Everyone was really courteous and it seemed like they were having a good time in store, which made me feel welcomed. So I went to the amazon box in college park. It seems like I'm there every other week! I glanced over at the strip mall with Starbucks and saw a cold stone. I haven't had cold stone in a minute and I usually have a good experience so I figured throw the diet away for the day and enjoy some good old ice cream. Okay so I haven't been to a cold stone in years. I worked at one when I was in high school. So I know the rules and training.. First impression no one greeted me when I walked in,.. there were 3 workers: 1 girl 2 boys, then I waited with no one in line besides me for about 2 minutes until someone came and did not say hi or any greeting, he simply said how can I help you? I went here 4 days ago and got an ice cream. The worker, who was a larger male did not even mix my ingredients for 5 seconds he simply put them in the middle and circled the ice cream around them then threw it in the cup. also, he didn't even give the customer all of the ingredients aka he left a size-able portion of ice cream on the cold stone... barely any energy and enthusiasm. Sad training and I'm not impressed!! I don't know if this is a corporate store but the management and staff are noticeably disappointed with having a job! I'm a fan of Cold Stone Creamery's ice cream overall. This particular location is usually pretty good. They could be a bit more consistent in their quantities. Some employees really pile on the ice cream (too much, even) while others skimp a bit too much. There are a few employees who are very friendly and outgoing, which is great. There are a few though who are a bit too apathetic and seem to be kind of just putting in the hours with the minimum possible effort. And this seems most common when they have the fewest people on staff, making it take the longest possible amount of time. I wish the experience was more consistently good like it is when their better employees are working. read more
