Cold Stone has always been one of my favorite ice cream places, but lately I've noticed a big decline in quality at this location. I'm not sure what changed with management, but it's clear that something has. I visit here often since it's the closest one to me, and over my last 6 visits the experience just hasn't been the same. Their new employees every time I come in. The way the ice cream is prepared has really gone downhill. Half the time the person making it doesn't seem to know the proper portions of mix-ins or how to blend everything correctly. Sometimes the container isn't even filled properly, which makes it frustrating when you're paying over $30+ for ice cream. Other times they don't mix in enough ingredients and just top it off with plain ice cream, which completely takes away from the Cold Stone experience. It feels like the staff either hasn't been properly trained or just isn't being held to the same standard as before. As a customer, I shouldn't have to correct employees on what actually goes into the signature ice cream I'm ordering, especially when I'm paying for a larger size (ours or larger) but receiving something closer to a small. It's disappointing, because people choose Cold Stone knowing it costs more than store-bought ice cream, but the quality has gone down from how they used to make and it's worth it. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case at this location, and if things don't improve I'll have to find another Cold Stone, or even a different ice cream shop altogether. Today I ordered a chocolate devotion and the ours size. I just have them substitute instead of brownies for almonds. One half of the container is nothing but chocolate there's no almond mixture. What a filthy disgusting place!! This is the type of place where they actually set your ice cream down on a cold stone and mix your topping in by hand with a couple of metal scoops... if you look around you would see what we saw and do what we did... leave! This place is nasty dirty! The walls have drips and food on them, every bit of counter has some kind of crumbs or sauce on them, the ceiling has what looks like large smashed bugs on it... I pray it is food but even then... even the cabinets under the sink were covered in drips and stains! The bathrooms were nasty dirty, and the walk in areas didn't even look clean. We tried to look past it or ignore it because my youngest wanted the cotton Candy ice cream... but as I got closer to ordering and my wife kept pointing out more grossness I finally just couldn't do it! This place is a health hazard just waiting for a break out of some food born disease. I have never felt more grossed out at an ice cream place in my life! My pics don't capture the true filth that this place was covered in from floor to ceiling and everything in between! How in the world were people ordering and eating ice cream from here!!! Totally disgusting!! We left and went to another place. Next thing we are going to hear is this location was a catalyst for some new food born disease that turns peoples inside into mush! Cold Stone Creamery is delicious but the portions have become too big and the prices have increased along with it. I paid $9 plus the option to tip for a small waffle cone. It was huge! Definitely order a small for 2-3 people hahaha. Not what I was expecting but the ice cream was delicious and the service was excellent. There were some mild issues understanding the owner who had a very strong accent but everything else was awesome. I think she became slightly frustrated that I had some trouble understanding her. This cold stone is busy as it's next to the movie theater and that's the only option of a cold treat. This is the only reason this place is making money The place has the worst miserable staff and it's really dirty and just looks untidy. I am sure if someone from Coldstone corporate was walk in there they would be embarrassed. Napkins on the floor, sticky floor, lighting not working properly. The Mixins area is all faded and the back section is all just a mess. Horrible staff not a smile in sight and so darn expensive $6.45 for a small scoop! The dairy free option was all melted in the tub and just looked bad. I only went there because of the dairy free option. Pizza on the counter, a dead cockroach in the waiting area, freezer completely out of temp, old toppings sitting on the counter, Ice cream in one of the employees hair, another employees boob was trying to pop out constantly, wearing the same gloves after scratching her head, going in the back and not changing gloves when coming back out. I LOVE Cold Stone, but the Johns Creek location has got to do better! Number one....DON'T ever come on a Sunday because it is jammed packed an the line moves extremely slow. Over the years it just seems as if the customer service is not consistent. One day you have wonderful customer service, you get enough ice cream for the money that they charge and the next day you'll encounter someone who is rude and will give you a regular ice cream scoop size and tries to tell you that that's the portion that they always give. I'm not sure who owns this location but I suggest that they actually come in and monitor and supervise this store more often. Last thought.....what the heck is up with the smell?! The first time the guy seemed shocked I wanted the large, so he confirms that's he size I want then literally busts out laughing.... then covers his mouth as if to hide it and keeps repeating "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" and then is whispering to his coworker laughing as he makes my ice cream. I love cold stone, but this location is horrible. The employees working are great, but the owner is disgusting. The owner walked in from outside and immediately went to scooping ice cream for themself without washing their hands or putting on gloves. On top of the lack of cleanliness and safety they also began scooping multiple flavors of ice cream without rinsing off the scoop between flavors. As someone with food allergies this is EXTREMELY alarming, especially as Cold Stone workers are typically so good accommodating allergies. Even after they scooped their multiple flavors they put the scoop back without washing it, and then walked out without even saying anything to the workers, truthfully I thought it was a random person walking in! There was also a line and instead of helping their stressed workers they just helped themselves. I came here a few days ago with my mother and there was only two girls on staff at the moment. It was a particularly hot day so a lot of people were coming in to cool off. This large party happened to be in front of my mother and I and the rest of the line. They were taking the LONGEST time to order. Instead of having one girl focus on taking their orders they were both trying to accommodate them which led to the line getting longer and longer. Went for our weekly dose of sweet cream ice cream. Today the Asian kids working were absolutely blah and rude. I have never gotten a scoop so small that it didn't even fill the cup. She used a store bought scooper and said this is the portion size. I will be back but not when those two are working again. Should have went to Sweet Frog for Pineapple froyo. Lesson learned. One word: FILTHY. I had not been to this location in a while and was shocked when I walked in. The first thing to hit you is the stench: like a backed up sewer. The floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a decade and the glass on the ice cream cases were so dirty that they were smudged, and you barely see into them. Everything was sticky and gross. Today is the first time I've been mad when visiting a Cold Stone. We were waiting in a long line and the couple in front of us had just placed their order. Another employee walked up, completely skipped us and started taking the order of the two people behind us! The person I was with immediately said something and the two people behind us apologized, but NOT the employee! The same employee also screwed up and put his order in a waffle cone instead of a waffle bowl. I've been visiting this location since it first opened.
