I came here for lunch once or twice a year and have never been disappointed. On my most recent trip we had an especially pleasant server named Paige, who was just the right amount of friendly and chatty without being overbearing. We all considered getting the specialty burger, which was made of boar, but ultimately chose other options. I ordered the Cacio-dilla which was not what I was expecting when it came out, it was better! There was only a little cheese in it and the meat was tender and delicious. Filling, but not too heavy and it was still just as good when I had it for lunch the next day. Someone at the table mentioned it was my birthday and Paige brought out a free plate of their pillows of love, delicious little fried dough bites with chocolate and berry syrup on top. Griffon has a really fun and diverse menu. This may be the kind of place that requires a group. I ordered the Bahn Mi Asian nachos and it was a mega huge portion. Holy cow was it great!!! There's so many cool things on the menu you can go here every day for 6 months and not have the a same me thing twice. The service is top shelf. I was seated quickly and served quickly by such a nice young lady. 101 pounds and claimed she ate an entire service of Bahn Mi nachos herself. That would be worth watching. I give this place a 2 because of the service. The food was good (the calamari didn't come with sauce and was quite greasy, but the peppers it came with heightened the experience). The Beef on Weck and the regular burger were delish. And here comes the issues: we had a reservation for 630p. They said it would take a couple minutes to clear tables. Ok. Then we overheard a couple with reservations for 645p come in, and they were sat immediately. We approached the hostess, who claimed she didn't hear us say we had a reservation. After that, we got our drinks and app promptly; but, our main foods didn't come for another 40 min. We almost left and told the staff to cancel our order...and wow, suddenly, our waitress appeared and said she said the ticket system held the order, but then came out like 5-10 minutes later. We ate the food, and it was delicious. It was overly salted though. She did comp our meals; however, their service definitely needs improving because this is the first place I almost walked out of. And it's rated 4 plus stars soooooo they should be on their game at all times especially for people who have reservations. Don't know if it was because we were openly gay or not, but, ummm, small town and such so who knows. This is in a village with in street parking or public parking behind. I'd suggest a reservation which we had. The place is really nice inside, booths, tables, high tops, ample waiting area. When I first got there I opened the wrong door-for those who are dumb like me-it's the LEFT door. I went on a Saturday and was seated right away for my 5;30 reservation. I got a pistachio martini. There's a large beer and wine menu. Our server was great and offered honest reviews of what we ordered and we really appreciated that. I got the grilled cheese appetizer-cheese curds. I should have asked for ranch. The sauce they were served with was okay, very thick. No matter they light and crispy. I did feel the presentation was a little weird as if the basket had tipped over. I don't know if that was intentional and the way it's served, but it gave off very hipster vibes or if it really did accidentally fall over. My friends got the street corn dip and it was beautiful as far as bright nachos are concerned. They both got burgers and loved them. I opted for the Quaker salmon. It practically melted in my mouth. Great piece of fish. I'm not an expert in couscous-but I wish it had been hot. It seemed lumpy and cold. It had a nice flavor with cranberries and walnuts. I thought it was a hot dish so that let me down. It was sweet, with it being cold it tasted like cereal kind of. I ate it. I subbed the asparagus for mashed potties. Also my first few bites were cold. They could have been warmer. Overall, I was pleased with my dinner. I got the cookie butter banana cheesecake. Talk dirty to me some more! The topping was to die for. It had cookie pieces and some walnuts and I think brown sugar. You could've served me a bowl of the topping and I would've just eaten it with a spoon. The cheesecake had a really good banana flavor to it that didn't come off as fake or overpowering. You could definitely tell it was banana. I also got a piece of the chocolate ganache cake to take home and the person who ate it said it was a really good piece of chocolate cake and I also got the hazelnut crisp square and I don't know if that was supposed to be refrigerated or not, but it looked really small and almost melted by the time I got it back to Rochester, which to be fair is almost an hour and a half away. All three of us had never been to this place before and we all agreed that it was a really good restaurant and we would definitely give the restaurant another try because in the end we were happy with our food. I'm going to share two experiences. I went with a friend a couple weeks and I had the lamb burger- it was delicious. I had to get it well done because I'm pregnant. My friend had the ramen and it looked amazing. Place was great and server was super friendly. I ordered late tonight for pickup and got the regular burger. Like last time I had to get it cooked more so I tried medium well. I picked it up, took it home, and ate half of it. Then I noticed it was rare. I peeled it open and the meat was literally raw. I immediately called because I'm a little nervous about food poisoning since I'm more susceptible to it at the moment. The host fixed the issue for me. I really just wanted to call and let them know so it didn't happen to anyone else. Very thankful for the great service both times. Ladies be careful and check your orders! read more

We were disappointed with our experience here. The dining room felt uninviting, and unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. I had to double-check that this was the same location as other positive reviews, but sadly, it was. We started with a beer on tap and nachos. The nachos were a letdown; the cheese sauce had an odd, watery consistency and a strange flavor. I had asked for no corn, but was told that the black beans were mixed in already, so we gave it a try anyway -- it didn't work for us. Unfortunately, the flavor didn't come together, and we couldn't get past it. The menu seems like it's trying to be creative, but we found the dishes didn't quite hit the mark. The "just the tips" appetizer tasted chewy and overcooked, while the turkey burgers had some hard, unexpected bits in them. The fries were standard Sysco, though they arrived cold, which was disappointing. We also tried the chicken and waffles, but the chicken was dry, and the waffle came out cold by the time we got the syrup -- a request we had to remind our waitress about a few times. The overall atmosphere didn't impress, and we noticed a number of flies buzzing around, which didn't help the experience. It wasn't the cleanest dining environment, either. While others may have had different experiences, we would recommend trying one of the other restaurants in the area. read more

I came here with a large group and everything went smoothly. I've been to the other locations but never got the chance to check out this one. I've noticed that each location's menu is a little different. My favorites are the OG chicken (this used to be called the panko chicken sandwich) and the turkey burger. So the food was good. Large menu many beer choices on tap. Waitress was attentive. However, the roof leaks. My friends were splashed by water drops throughout the meal but didn't say anything until the end of the meal. This place is EASILY the best in town and one of the best in the entire southtowns. Consistently great food and drinks. The smoked gouda mac and cheese is ethereal. They seasonally rotate portions of their menu to always keep things fresh but without sacrificing fan favorites. If you dine in, they always have an excellent set of cocktails with specials that rotate frequently and are always highly enjoyable. For the celiac folks in the room, they take cross contamination VERY seriously. When we went there one night and my wife (celiac) got the mac and cheese, she found a non-GF noodle mixed in and immediately stopped eating. One of the owners happened to be there, came over, and had an amazing conversation with us about how much pride they take in food safety and took care of the issue right then and there. So not many places open on a Sunday in East Aurora. My husband decided to do a reservation. That was the best decision we made. The couple before us was told it would be an hour wait. Our waitress was awesome, very attentive as well as quite busy. She made sure everyone was taken care of but also was very welcoming and didn't make a busy restaurant seem too busy for the customer. That started a great meal even better. Unfortunately one set back was they sold their last Elk burger (specialty game burger) so we weren't able to try. They offered lamb, but we chose 2 different burgers - Jam burger and I just had a cheeseburger with Cheddar. Fries were awesome - sweet and regular. Burgers were huge and cooked to perfection. Drinks were great too. My hubby had an old fashioned and was able to choose his bourban. I had a white sangria. Both were so good. We will be back to see if we can get a game burger. Man griffin is so great. This location is really pretty interior too and a big place! Staff was super nice and friendly. I got their pb and j burger it was so so good and I upgraded the side to their gouda Mac and cheese and it was also amazing! They aren't giving the food away price wise but it's worth it for a nice meal. There's plenty of parking in the street of the large city lot behind the restaurant. I have been to Griffon in the Williamsville area, but have never been to the East Aurora location until now. I like the inside a lot here, the booths are comfy and the lighting was nice. As for appetizers, the corn fritters were incredible. I have never had something like that before, and the homemade maple syrup was to die for. It reminded me of something you would get at the fair. The nachos on the other hand were underwhelming. The toppings to chips ratio was depressing, and there was no sauce. The actual chips were yummy, but there just wasn't enough to scoop. The pumpkin soup was extremely yummy and flavorful. The Mahi Mahi sandwhich was super fresh, especially with the mango salsa. These tator tots were the best thing of this entire meal. If I have one recommendation, GET THE TATOR TOTS. I also got ranch on the side to dip in the tots and it was the perfect combo! read more

Great spot, I travel to Buffalo for work and the 20 min drive to East Aurora is well worth it for Griffon. Fig and Fire Pork Chop is one of the best entrees in Buffalo and the sweet potatoes fries are fantastic. Tons of choices on tap for their own beers including Kangaroo Jiu Jitsu (IPA) and Gouden Bear (wheat) which are my favorites. This was second time here to meet friends after coming in from out of town. Even though we arrived a little late for our reservations(I did let them know & they appreciated that)they were very welcoming and kind. We had a great table, server(who was very friendly, knowledgeable about the food items & patient with us as we had a lot of catching up to do)! When walking in you notice the bar/restaurant area and it looks very inviting and a fun place to be, we may have to try that next time! One of my favorite restaurants. Have never had a bad experience here, and the food is always SO good. Huge beer selection. My go to plate is the Mangia steak sandwich with sweet potato fries. The flavor is just out of this world. We started with the fried goat cheese balls, always flavorful. Perfect mix between crispy and gooey. A group of us had plans to take part in a bar crawl. Before that, I was at a class and didn't have anything substantial to eat. Needless to say I was HANGRY! We decided on going to Griffon after another place was packed. We were seated right away. I really like Griffon because they have a couple cans of gluten free beers. I miss beer and am always sniffing other people's beers. Here I get to drink my own beer. I had a couple. The first one, a blonde, tasted like cider going in and finished like beer. The second one, a pale ale, tasted like beer and was amazing. I went with the PB&J burger with the fries and my boyfriend got the Vietnamese pulled pork. Normally, I like a plain burger, but because I was in the state of hanger, I went for a specialty burger. I didn't regret my choice. It was delicious and packed with flavor. Also it had bacon on it, which is what I really wanted it for. The gluten free roll was delicious. I liked the spices on the fries. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal as well. I love this place. There are a lot of food places to choose from in East Aurora and this is one of the best! Very open areas and outdoor seating. Friendly staff and even though they were busy, our food came out pretty fast. Good beer options (that change), seltzers, non-alcoholic drinks and wines. I got a Caesar salad which was two big pieces of grilled romaine with cheese. SO good. I also added a burger for protein. My brother got the same but with salmon. Our favorite of the Griffons we've been too. It's the most spacious with the best ambiance and acoustics. Great service, but this local franchise consistently delivers at any location. I had an Amber Waves, which includes coconut rum, dark rum, ginger bear, prickly pear juice, and kiwi bobas. It looks like the kind of drink you'd see at Disney World, but probably more generous with the spirits. Very unique spicy taste. I had a medium rare burger cooked perfectly to order with cheddar, a fried egg, and spicy maple mayo. I also had apple wood bacon on the side, but my son ganked it all for himself. Whatever. A truly huge beer/cider/drink selection. Tip: order your tap choice by number, otherwise the server will have to search for it. I cannot stress this enough: The food is so good. I took half of my meal home, and my reheated leftovers were still delicious (chicken caprese.) 2 of us had been to another location previously, for the other 3 it was their first time, and they all plan to go back soon. A tiny caution, definitely not enough to take a star away, and it resolves itself with a little patience: We were seated in a location that half the table had the sun blinding them, there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it. Pretty straight forward - the food is typically undercooked and poorly prepared. Given this restaurant way too many chances - how do you actually manage to screw up cooking hamburgers? Before someone says 'they were busy that night' I have ordered burgers at this place on a handful of separate occasions - every time the meat is cool and severely undercooked (cold/bloody). This time was no different and they attempt to cover their attempt at grilling with way too much garnish and garbage. Keep it simple and just pay attention it's not that difficult. My daughter and I go to Griffon (East Aurora) all the time. The food is always very good and the servers are always wonderful. The only issue that we have had is that in the warmer months we are always bothered by flies - I mean always and multiple ones. We are constantly waving our hands to rid our table of them. They really need to do something as the last time we went (yesterday) - I told my daughter that I wasn't going to keep coming if they cannot do something about this issue. We have been frequenting Griffin's at least once every couple months for a few years now. We've found they have great waitresses, the drinks are made well and they have a variety of really good food. What I appreciate most is that they have several good choices whether you want just apps or want something more substantial. They switch up their menu just enough but still keep some favorites so it's never boring. We love the grilled cheese bites, wontons, ragoons, pretzel bombs and lobster crab bisque for apps. (One call out I will say is that although the nachos look impressive, they tend to not really carry enough meat so they're a bit underwhelming). The summer menu has a great Aloha salmon, whichever Ramen they have on the menu is always good, Just The Tips and the Black and Blue Steak salad- all great options. Their sweet potato fries and especially the tater tots are super tasty and they make a mean chicken tender. They're very consistent with delivering good food and service and we appreciate that. The bread was salted and had rosemary on it, which was fine- a bit too salty. The poutine my husband had was good until we got to the bottom of the pile- wayyy too salty. Always delicious, upscale comfort food. I have been here several times and the food and service are wonderful. Most recent we were able to sit outdoors at one of the tables in the newly expanded outdoor seating area. I had the GF Vietnamese pulled pork sandwich on GF baguette with sweet potato fries. My significant other enjoyed the PB&J burger with regular fries. Both meals were hearty and had fresh, high end ingredients. I am delighted that they always offer many GF option here and the staff is knowledgeable enough to talk to you about it easily. The candied jalapeños on the Vietnamese pulled pork were a fresh twist on their take on a banh mi and added some sweet heat to this sandwich. Griffon also has some of the best sweet potato fries ever! They are always perfectly crisp and are coated in their signature honey butter. I was told the burger was cooked well and that the flavor combination was unexpected but awesome. We enjoyed an adult beverage from their extensive beer and wine list. Service was spectacular. I would say it was some of the best service I have had in a very long time. The gentleman who helped us was quick, attentive, helpful and very kind. Everyone was wearing masks and following protocols. There is a lot of indoor seating if you prefer or the weather isn't cooperating. The ambiance of this downtown restaurant was very nice as well as the service we received by our waitress. It was a busy Friday night but our party of 6 was able to get in without much problem. 3 of the 6 at our table liked the food well enough to come back again, but the other 3 found it just meh. Their fish fry (which 3 of us got) was decent enough. I thought my beer battered one was slightly underdone however and the Cajun one my son got was cooked well. Their slaw needs serious work as well as their 'Miami Fries', which lacked any type of seasonings that were featured on the menu. The tots and sirloin tips dinner was fantastic my sister-in-law said and my brother-in-law's chicken sandwich was very good. My wife's Shabu-Shabu was awful she said. Tons of white pepper flavor and the noodles looked straight from a cup of Maruchin Soup. She was so looking forward to it, but barley ate any.
