New to me restaurant in East Aurora. (but closer to the Marilla town line ) . This is a solid 4 star place for the following reasons ... Pros - 1. The prices - all very reasonable 2. Very nice patio with heaters 3. The delicious roast beef dinner I got with homemade mashed potatoes . Perfect comfort meal! Cons- 1. Service was slow(ish) and they couldn't do separate checks as there was only 1 server for the entire patio on a Friday night . 2. My side salad was weak - even had that core of the romaine lettuce in it . I barely ate any of it, but didn't like the soup option (Manhattan clam chowder ) to send it back that night . 3. My friend's steak sandwich was lackluster, but everyone else seemed to like their food . I'd go back to try something else on the menu - but man that Roast beef was so good , maybe I would just get that again! read more

I keep asking myself why I don't come here more often. Over the years, I have never had a bad meal at this place. Plus, if you're just stopping for a drink, the bar has always been pretty fun - always a nice group of locals, down to earth folk here. The menu was a really good mix of options with plenty of choices for everyone, no matter what you're in the mood for. Located just a short hop outside of East Aurora, I always find it's worth my drive from Williamsville to do a little shopping in town and grab a lunch or dinner at Kodiak Jack's. My latest choice was the prime rib and stuffed hot pepper sandwich. It was some of the most tender prime rib I have ever had on a sandwich. Chicken wings were half price, so we started with wings as an appetizer to split between us. The wings had a nice light crisp on the outside, and were tender and juicy on the inside. Perfection. Portions are hardy, there's no skimping here. If you're looking for a new restaurant option and want to turn it into an afternoon, drive on out to East Aurora and see some of the most beautiful shops and have a lovely meal. read more

I came with a fairly large group, if memory serves correctly, there were 7 in our party. We enjoyed a seat on the patio while the weather was still warm & sunny. There was ONE server for the entire patio and since several tables had 3+ guests, that server ran, all night long. I wish I could say I enjoyed my Grilled Prime Rib Sandwich (Served on a Toasted Garlic Hoagie, Topped w/ Our Signature Cheese-Stuffed Hot Pepper & Provolone, w/ a Side of Au jus) but the meat was fatty, there wasn't much garlic on the roll and overall, I was less than impressed for the price I paid. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their entrees. Like I said earlier, our server was busy the entire time we were seated, so I was bummed that I was finished with my beverage by the time the food arrived and I was nearly done with my meal before another drink was brought to the table... By the time I finished my second beverage, we were being asked to leave the patio for another party (the server was polite about it, but it was a shame to end the evening like that). read more

We came here on a Friday and boy, was it busy. We heard great things about this place and had to try it for ourselves. Well, we still had to wait about 30 minutes. The food and service were well worth the wait We came here initially for the fish fry, But I ended up going for the fried shrimp with German potato salad, and it was beyond delicious. The shrimp were perfectly fried, not the greasy at all very easy to eat, and the German potato salad had the right amount of apple cider vinegar to bacon flavor that just made it to die for, the fish was perfectly fried not greasy at all and my husband just completely devoured the macaroni salad and German potato salad too. Our server was absolutely friendly and checked on us to make sure we were OK. The ambience is very warm and welcoming and a great place to have a the party definitely will become regulars here. Stopped in for dinner tonight. There was a 50 minute wait. No problem. Totally understand. What I didn't need was the super snarky hostess yelling, "Fifty...5-0!!!" at me as I started to say thanks anyway, we can't wait that long. I think she was angry because we were standing inside the doorway instead of waiting in the hallway. Shame...we've been here many times and always had a great experience with food and service. Hopefully her night got better and improved her attitude as well. read more

Well, i have reviewed this place before but my review has magically disappeared, so I'm going to do it again. My first review was a great review. We patronize this restaurant often and usually they give us reason to want to return but unfortunately our last two experiences were not so, which is incredibly disappointing as it used to be the go-to for us on a Friday night. The last two times that we have eaten here we have gotten the same waitress, and that is where our biggest complaint lies. The first time we were told by a regular waitress (who is always fantastic) that our waitress was new, which doesn't excuse how much she was ignoring our table, but we tried to just let it slide. The second time however, it was the same deal, she ignored our table, seemed to get irritated when we would ask for refills on drinks, or more dressing, etc. She chose to socialize with other employees (right next to our table) instead of checking in on our table, and the interesting thing is that I did not see her ignore other tables as much as ours. What's the deal??? However, I try to not give a restaurant a poor review solely on customer service, because while it can make or break an experience, it's the food that should be the bigger focus. Our last meal here was shockingly disappointing. the salad I got had chicken on it that tasted fishy and soapy, the fish that another member of our party got was so incredibly salty it was almost impossible for them to eat, and they normally load on the salt. Usually the food here is spot on. Our experience was so disappointing that it provoked us to leave a comment in their comment box. That was over a month ago and we have heard no response at all. I think that is what puts us off the most. Some sort of contact would have been appreciated! I hope that Kodiak's is just experiencing some hiccups and that one day again, I will be writing a better review! read more

We went to dinner last week and had wings they were great, crispy, great flavor, could of been a little meatier but still very good! Our server was great and we got right in and seated, drinks right away and appetizer came out quickly, cheese bacon fries, I did not care for the crinkle cut fries or the cheese, it was not so good, I would like to see real cut potatoes and a better quality cheese, that said everything else was great! Tonight we got fish fry's to go, I live about 2 miles away, the fish was perfectly cooked and the fries were crispy and hot, the coleslaw I did not eat because it looked like it was made yesterday, I also did not eat the mac salad because I'm very picky about it! I give the fish a 10 it was not greasy the fish was tender and delicious! Good job! We will definitely visit this establishment more often read more

My husband and I are from out of town and were looking for a decent meal in an area where there aren't a ton of options. While the Kodiak Jacks decor reminds you a little of a set from the movie Dirty Dancing, the service and food is great. My husband got a burger and I got the chicken fingers. Admittedly, I did not know what to expect from the name or location of this establishment. Could it be a dive bar? Could it be a shanty that specializes in BBQ? Could it be the last place on earth anyone ever sees me? Granted it feels like it is in the middle of a field, it is actually a pretty stellar place. Somewhat misleading from the front, the inside has a family feel and then a bar section - which could be a family feel if the kids are at a drinking age. In this case, I ordered take out. Take out is done from the bar area, in which you can shimmy between people and get the bartender's attention. It took next to no time to get some attention, which may have been the needy look on my face. I ordered the Roast Beef Dinner and the spouse ordered the Smothered Chicken. Word to the wise, no roast beef sandwiches or chicken wings on at least one of the nights. Pricing is on par with just about anywhere else, but what you get for the price is not. I had a gigantic amount of roast beef along with some very delicious steamed veggies. The salad was what you would expect, although I did not love the ranch dressing. Trivial in the grand scheme but sometimes that dressing, even if it is a little drizzle, can make or break a salad. The smothered chicken was perfect. Juicy, flavorful, off of a large chicken and worth every penny. The kids ordered the usual staple items, so as far as grilled cheese goes, it fits the bill. Because of this visit, I will surely be heading there to actually dine in. The line is miles long as some nights, so it may be a good idea to camp out early. read more

Just enjoyed good Tuesday night wing night and great live music with Chris Maloney, playing on the outside patio. Buy one, get one free wings included such styles as Cattleman Gold (a mustard honey style that was sweet), Cajun hot which wasn't too hot with a different flavor than traditional, garlic parmesan's, but I really enjoyed the Jamaican Jerk which were dry and oh so tasty. The selection seemed great BUT why ask how you want your burger cooked when it comes out well done, the well drink included...ordered rum and coke terrible!!! Watered down and undrinkable! Despite a 6:30 'reservation' we waited 40 minutes to be seated and after getting drinks were informed by the waitress they were out of the heavily-advertised Mother's Day specials (prime rib and lobster.) She checked with the kitchen and said they had one small steak left. We do not blame the waitress - this is a management issue - do not take reservations if you're not 'reserving' a table at the specified time. Inform customers on arrival if you are out of the specials. Plan ahead and order enough to honor your advertised special. read more

First time ever in this place even though it is only 15 minutes from my house. My hubby had the Kodiak Jacks steak. Came with real mashed potatoes and a side salad. Ordered rare and that's just how it was served. He said the steak was excellent. I ordered the beef and blue salad, meat medium rare. My steak was also excellent and love mixed greens. Being told after an hour that my order had been messed up (I get it, they're busy) and then having to wait another half hour for a burger, which wasn't even right when it did finally come out, is unacceptable. I politely told the waitress that I wished to speak to the manager. I was then harassed by the manager for having the nerve to want to discuss the poor service (no fault of our waitress) that I received last night. Being told that I should be happy to wait an hour and a half for a burger does not change the underlying problem of being hungry. I never even had a chance to speak to the manager, as he came out of the bar area yelling at ME for all of his (extensive) problems of the day. Since he was drinking with the customers in the bar as I left, I can only guess that he was more interested in having a good time himself, than making sure his guests were taken care of. read more

Their food is amazing and delicious. On Saturday nights they have prime rib which is out of this world. They have a nice variety on the menu and everything I have tried so far I have been very impressed with. I find their staff very friendly and attentive.
