Always a good time here. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Food is incredible. I got the BLT today and the rosemary focaccia it comes on is to die for. We stopped by for food but they were having trivia so we played! Lots of good bands come here too. Definitely the best spot for food nearby.

got some wings, white pizza, and a cheese and pepp. The white pizza was very runny and had next to no flavor and was very under salted . Onions were almost raw Wings were ok . Ordered extra crispy but came out with rubbery fatty texture

Excellent quality food - great menu, great service. Parking lot is tough this time of year - but it's worth it!

The food is amazing. The service is great for an out-of-the-way place. Put it on your destination list for excellent restaurants.

Great food. Nice outdoor patio. Can be a bit loud inside. But I've been here a few times for a fish fry and it's consistently good.

The burgers and wings are great. The house jalapeño wings are always great. The beer selection could use a facelift.

I love the 5 alarm burger - it has pickled jalapeños and the house made jalapeño barbque sauce is to die for.

Possibly the best French Toast I've ever had. It's egg battered which is a plus. They also give you plenty of syrup and butter. I got the Gin Mill Brunch Burger because I was craving some burgers, but I didn't know they had a separate breakfast menu, so I went with the brunch burger, which sounded good. It's a normal burger but with egg and instead of using regular burger buns, they use a bagel. It also comes with diced hash browns which were very flavorful. As much as I love burgers, this one just wasn't as good as I hoped. Mainly because of the bagel, which was harder than your typical burger bun. The burger was also lacing some flavor. Our server was also very nice and explained everything to us. The interior is also very nice and has a historic atmosphere with lots of taxidermy.

Very good beer menu, despite there being no Scotch ale. Boo! One friend was very happy to find Sam's Cherry Wheat among the selections. I made do with a Prosecco from their decent wine list. I wish I'd remembered that I wasn't all that thrilled with the crab cake at Public House on the Lake. Not that it's bad. Just not the "jumbo lumps" I prefer in a crab cake. Cajun aioli - yum. The friend that ordered the steak sandwich cooked medium received it well done, but said it tasted good. And she's really picky about her beef. Stinger sandwich and chicken fingers were pronounced fine. French fries were not. Shoestring isn't my favorite cut, but these were limp and greasy. Wet potatoes? Oil not hot enough? French fries shouldn't be this hard to get right. Minor complaints: no blueberries in the EBC blueberry wheat. For shame. You're right next door to its birthplace! And serving a souffle cup with the lid still on is just a wee bit tacky. YES, I'm picky. And proud of it.

There was no one at any tables. There did not appear to be any lights on inside (including the lights of the "Open" sign on the door). There was one older gentleman standing inside, glaring out the window while talking on a phone, but that just made us uneasy to approach the door. Drove by around 7:30pm the same Saturday night. The "Open" sign was lit, but the place looked empty.

It came with brisket, pulled pork , sausage , chicken, ribs and two sides. The Corn bread melts in your mouth , and the mac and cheese side would even be perfect as a main ! My cocktail "smoke and mirrors", had a strong pear taste with a full brandy body. Definitely needs another staff member or two as the drink specialist was also serving the whole restaurant, taking orders and greeting. Including the outside. Although at times we were waiting , for example to pay as it got busier although we waited a while for our bill and drink refills but, it never felt excessively long even with this crutch. Price for quantity, taste , and its classy ambience and style make this place a must go in St. Catharines, even the whole Niagara Region !

You truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but a few standout favorites are: Chicken Wings: Outstanding crunch, flavor, and execution--some of the best you'll find in town. Fish Fry: Golden, crisp, and fresh every time, with excellent sides that are all homemade. Cheese Steaks are made with thier shaved prime rib and is incredible, great portions of beef, onions and mushrooms. The Chicken Parm: was much bigger and tastier than I thought. My parents could've split one order, however, they now have a second full meal at home- the noodles from the pasta are homemade. The Daily Specials are always incredible and ever changing. Chef has it going on, and is building a helluva reputation for his business. To top it all off, they have a fantastic beer selection that pairs brilliantly with the menu. Also, they have an INCREDIBLE Bourbon menu as well. Colden Country Inn is just outstanding across the board. If you're anywhere near Colden, do yourself a favor and check it out no matter the time of year. In the winter they have dining igloos on the outdoor deck, that are heated. Such a cool concept! This restaurant is becoming a main stay for every trip home to visit my parents. I've been here at least once for the past four years, and I will be coming back again! ;)
