The pool was great but the one hot tub was always packed with kids and has a six person limit so tough to enjoy with such a large resort. The docks are managed by the DNR so first come first serve, but if staying at the inn, you can park your watercraft's overnight. The buffet on Saturday was really bad and the service okay but it was a buffet. They ran out of food with over an hour left and didn't refill part of it. You can't order from the menu on Saturday either, only their buffet and it was $18.99 and overpriced for what you got. You also have to pay just to get to the in through the park which was another $15 for out of state visitors.

We arrived early, but we were told that the room was not ready. This was a Tuesday and the Inn seemed to be mostly empty. We tried again at 4:00, which is the stated check-in time. Still not ready. We watched as several people came and checked in with no issues ahead of us. Finally, we were able to check in at 4:30. We had pre-ordered a bottle of white wine for our room to celebrate, however, by the time we got into the room, all the ice had melted and the wine was warm. The rooms are so old with dirty carpeting and dusty furniture. The bedroom TV is streaming only and the Wi-fi is not good at all, so it was useless. We used to have a lot of fun in the arcade, however, it has been completely changed and is an absolute joke. Half of the machines were unplugged or not working and they no longer take quarters. We walked around some of the park and found the trails to be completely overgrown in a lot of areas. We went to the dining room around 7:00pm. They were completely understaffed to the point that someone who usually works in the kitchen turned out to be the only server, busser and host....she was doing everything by herself. When we ordered a 2 glasses of wine with dinner, we were told there wasn't anyone old enough to pour alcohol! Are you kidding!?! I would like to say one positive thing. The server, I believe her name was Gabby, was the only employee in the entire Inn that was pleasant and did as good of a job as she possibly could have. Our history and relationship with the Potawatomi Inn may have come to an end....sadly.

Came with a creamy rice pilaf. She added their great salad bar for a complete and filling lunch! Our server was Jenn C, and she could not have been better! Prompt, attentive, radiant smile, efficient, and added to the welcoming ambiance of Trolley. I had their French Onion soup which is some of the best in town. Brothy (not thickened), full of flavor, delicious. I always get it with no bread or croutons and it still arrives at the table hot and layered with melted Swiss. A fav! I also had the tuna sashimi appetizer (pictured) as my entree, which they present beautifully! All in all, a great place for lunch (or dinner) w/friends or loved ones!

The reason(s)? Let me explain in detail: The restaurant was practically empty at 6 pm on a Sunday night (not a good sign); we were seated at a 4 top about parallel with the bar, where we observed a waitress chowing down on a piece of cheesecake at the bar, not 10 feet from us (she left the rest to come back to later). No one wants to see staff eating or drinking and then preparing or serving food. We ordered a salad bar each, at $17.99 per person, and my wife added on a French Onion soup. I went to the washroom and saw that they had 2 containers of soap (that were supposed to be in wall - mount dispensers) on either side of the sink. However, only the one on the right actually worked. I turned to leave, and saw that the toilet paper was sitting on top of the hand bar, instead of the holder, which appeared to be missing a piece. By the door, they have a baby changing table with various cleaning items underneath (not a huge deal, but no one wants to see the inside of a custodian's closet). I returned from the washroom and we subsequently approached the salad bar, only to find about 6 plates, and a few scraps of burnt (rusty) lettuce in each of the three bowls. I said to my wife, "I'm sorry, I'm not eating this. Let's go somewhere else." I waived the waitress over, who dropped off some bread that looked like it was a week old and had been deep fried, and told her that we would pay for our beers and leave. I told her that the salad bar lettuce was burnt, and we weren't going to eat it. As we finished our beers, the manager came over and said he heard that we had issues with the salad bar. I asked him if he had a moment, and we walked over to the salad bar, where they had refilled one bowl of lettuce. I picked up a piece of rusty lettuce from another, smaller bowl, and explained that the big bowl had the same burnt lettuce in it. I also showed him the pictures of the washroom, and explained, for context, that I am a certified executive chef. The manager was so apologetic that he even took the salad bar off of our bill...which was generous considering we hadn't eaten one bit of it. All in all, he was patronizing and unapologetic, which was extremely disappointing considering I was very respectful and was actually trying to help the Trolley Bar to not lose more customers (which, as a 40 year veteran of the hospitality industry, is my duty). The ONLY reason I gave one star (other than that it's not possible to give 0 stars) is that the beer glasses were cold. Other than that, we will never return, even though we have had 3 - 4 good meals there in the past. Good luck in the future. I would suggest implementing a staff training plan as soon as possible.

After going the first week for the World Series of Burgers and how good the burger was, I went for the second week to try out the Wild Thing. This one definitely took over the birder from week one. Having recently had a heart attack I'm very selective on entrées but found a nice salmon and spinach wrap that fit the bill, wasn't a ton of flavor, but I doctored it up and it was fine. With my diet lately I'm depending on spices, but this was plenty of food and well worth the price point. My colleague had the sirloin steak and veggies. He seemed to whip through it pretty quick, steak looked perfectly done for a thinner, lunch cut, and we both just drink water since we're traveling and had more appointments. I'd love to get this place another try and go for more of the pizza or other dishes that we're standing out and certainly take advantage of the bar. Big place, clean, good service. Highly recommend.

If you get…read morethe opportunity, definitely head over to this place for the friendly atmosphere, filling food, and picturesque views of the lake. As you might guess from the name, Devil's Lake Yacht Club is the flagship club for Devil's Lake. It's for members and invited guests only, so I felt like a real high roller when I got to go recently! Recently remodeled, I loved that they kept the grand old bar, with the addition of some stylish and comfy barstools for congregating around and chatting with friends. Instead of grabbing a drink that night, we headed over to our table, where a friendly server greeted us and took our orders. This evening it was the fried chicken dinner all around, with the option of white meat, dark meat, or combo. While we waited, we munched on warm rolls and enjoyed the view on the lake. A short time later, our dinners arrived, and it was some of the tastiest fried chicken I've had in a long time. The crust tasted like a mixture of cornflakes and buttermilk, with just the right amount of seasonings. I got some green beans and mashed potatoes on the side, both of which were delicious. Maybe it's my good memories of coming to the lakes as a kid, maybe it was that it was the perfect end to a perfect Sunday, but the dinner at the Devil's Lake Yacht Club hit the spot for me. If you get the opportunity to go there sometime, I hope it does the same for you!
