Came with a creamy rice pilaf. She added their great salad bar for a complete and filling lunch! Our server was Jenn C, and she could not have been better! Prompt, attentive, radiant smile, efficient, and added to the welcoming ambiance of Trolley. I had their French Onion soup which is some of the best in town. Brothy (not thickened), full of flavor, delicious. I always get it with no bread or croutons and it still arrives at the table hot and layered with melted Swiss. A fav! We went to the Trolley Bar to have the salad bar tonight, but for the first time in my 40 - odd years of paying my own way at a restaurant, I suggested we drink our beers and leave without eating, even though we had ordered the salad bar and a French Onion soup. The reason(s)? Let me explain in detail: The restaurant was practically empty at 6 pm on a Sunday night (not a good sign); we were seated at a 4 top about parallel with the bar, where we observed a waitress chowing down on a piece of cheesecake at the bar, not 10 feet from us (she left the rest to come back to later). No one wants to see staff eating or drinking and then preparing or serving food. We ordered a salad bar each, at $17.99 per person, and my wife added on a French Onion soup. I went to the washroom and saw that they had 2 containers of soap (that were supposed to be in wall - mount dispensers) on either side of the sink. However, only the one on the right actually worked. I turned to leave, and saw that the toilet paper was sitting on top of the hand bar, instead of the holder, which appeared to be missing a piece. By the door, they have a baby changing table with various cleaning items underneath (not a huge deal, but no one wants to see the inside of a custodian's closet). I returned from the washroom and we subsequently approached the salad bar, only to find about 6 plates, and a few scraps of burnt (rusty) lettuce in each of the three bowls. I said to my wife, "I'm sorry, I'm not eating this. Let's go somewhere else." I waived the waitress over, who dropped off some bread that looked like it was a week old and had been deep fried, and told her that we would pay for our beers and leave. I told her that the salad bar lettuce was burnt, and we weren't going to eat it. As we finished our beers, the manager came over and said he heard that we had issues with the salad bar. I asked him if he had a moment, and we walked over to the salad bar, where they had refilled one bowl of lettuce. I picked up a piece of rusty lettuce from another, smaller bowl, and explained that the big bowl had the same burnt lettuce in it. I also showed him the pictures of the washroom, and explained, for context, that I am a certified executive chef. The manager was so apologetic that he even took the salad bar off of our bill...which was generous considering we hadn't eaten one bit of it. All in all, he was patronizing and unapologetic, which was extremely disappointing considering I was very respectful and was actually trying to help the Trolley Bar to not lose more customers (which, as a 40 year veteran of the hospitality industry, is my duty). The ONLY reason I gave one star (other than that it's not possible to give 0 stars) is that the beer glasses were cold. Other than that, we will never return, even though we have had 3 - 4 good meals there in the past. Good luck in the future. I would suggest implementing a staff training plan as soon as possible. read more

Underwhelming and disappointing. My son's birthday, which was noted in the reservation, was not acknowledged by the staff until the server was told at the table. Nothing special was offered, but the table behind got a b-day cake with a sparkling candle. Had we been offered we would have paid for it! Cocktail order - was told ingredients were unavailable and back up drink was too sweet and undrinkable. As we left the restaurant (7:30 pm) many table chairs were pushed up against the walls as if the restaurant was closing and they were getting it ready to be cleaned! read more

Our experience was decent at best. To start, in a somewhat empty restaurant, we were seated adjacent to a table of four, when there were plenty of other open tables. The lights were brighter than they needed to be, and it was slightly noisy for a time of conversation and catch-up. The food was hit-or-miss. I ordered the ribeye, which was quite remarkable. Not a lot of mushrooms, but it still hit the spot. My wife ordered the crab cakes, and they were extremely underwhelming. Not only that, but the risotto was severely undercooked (they remade it, and it was still undercooked). It was not the type of dish you'd expect a steakhouse to fall short on. My in-laws ordered the salmon and walleye, which were both up to par. I'm told this place used to be a classic. I'm told this place has the best salad bar in the city, which I'm sure could be true. As an outsider looking in, I was not particularly convinced that this place carried any weight in its day, which is almost saddening. read more

My wife received a gift card for Christmas from a colleague at work so we decided last night that we were going to try this place out. In the last, I had always heard great things about it but lately, not so much. We were greeted by friendly hostesses who took us to a table with no wait on a Friday night. Our server was delightful and very sweet. We really enjoyed her personality. My wife got the sirloin dinner and I got the smaller prime rib. Her steak was pretty good and she enjoyed the salad bar. Would she pay 19 bucks for just the salad bar?!? No way, but as a side it was worth it. I got the lobster bisque instead of salad (upsell of $5) and it was good. Was it great? Probably not $5 worth but I have never tried it before but it didn't leave me wanting more. My prime rib was decent but didn't love my broccoli. Baked potato was pretty good! Was it worth the $87 bill? I don't think so. Thank goodness we had the gift card as it definitely wasn't that great. I'd go to Texas Roadhouse all day over this steakhouse. The feeling of the place was pretty laid back and comfortable but definitely not a high end steakhouse. All that being said, it was a good meal with good service. Amazing? No? OK? Sure. Will I be back? Not unless we get another gift card. I'd give this place a 3.5 if Yelp allowed me to, but a 3 is probably too low. read more

My wife and I went here on our anniversary since we had a gift card. The salad bar was great. The ambiance was fair at best. It is one big room with the kitchen/grill off to one side right there in the room. The staff hung out by the kitchen. I ordered the seafood special. It was Halibut, Rissoto and green beans. The Rissoto and green beans were good. The Halibut was over cooked and very dry. I was quite surprised when I received the bill and was charged $65 for the worst fish experience I ever had. I didn't realize the "special" was the high price. For that price, I would not expect overpriced, overcooked, dry fish. Very disappointed with our experience. Had excellent service from Kiera. We had a group of six. We ordered an array of dishes and Kiera was polite at all times. We had to ask for the bread but that seems like a restaurant policy when observing other tables. I ended up ordering a Key Lime Martini, which tasted exactly like its namesake. To start the restaurant was busy but I found it oddly quiet which was kinda of nice for conversation at our table. We sat near the pickup area. I enjoyed watching the expediter work with the cooks to make sure the food was getting plated and sent out in a timely manner. We had a sirloin and ribs off the savor menu. The ribs were very good and the potato was nice as well. 10/10 on that dish. The sirloin was cooked pretty close to how I ordered and was decently tender but it had no flavor. 5/10 on the sirloin. I had an old fashioned which was so so. Salad bar was honestly my favorite part of the experience. Lots of options with salad and toppings but also several chilled pasta, potato, and imitation crab salads. Dessert was pretty good as well. Our server was kinda quiet but nice. We came here to try it out with the savor Fort Wayne menu, still spend over $100 which is fine but I don't think I would come back for a full price night. To start off Our Server Jennifer was amazing. One of the best we ever had. Above and beyond awesome. Now for the rest. We made a reservation for our anniversary for 430. We were sat in the middle of the service windows, salad bar and restrooms. There were plenty more tables open. Asked if we can move somewhere else the answer was no. So I had a first hand look at the manager/ Expeditor. She would cough in her hands touch the plates then go in her pocket touch her phone then cough in her hands again and touch the plates then touch her pop bottle over and over again. Without once washing her hands or even using sanitizer. Being in the medical field that totally grossed me out. I was so grateful when our server grabbed our plates before she could touch them. My steak was very good. Cooked the way i like it Medium Rare. My husbands Almond crusted Walleye was over cooked but he said it was still good. Veg. very good not soggy. I travel to Ft. Wayne for work pretty frequently. I've been to Trolley twice now, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I was a little dubious when I walked in because, let's be honest, the place is QUITE dated inside. Oof, I thought...but let's give it a try. Although it is dated, it is clean. The customer service has been very good. And the food is good. I got salmon both times, and it was cooked nearly perfectly both times. I'll return next time I'm in town! read more

Trolley is a nice location with a great Salad Bar! Their menu is limited, but has enough of a variety to make sure that all in your party are well-fed. Portions are great and the servers are amazing. They need to replace the carpet. The Large tear across the room makes the please appear unkempt. My last visit, I found a piece of twisted metal in my Tornedos (Steak Tips in gravy). I don't know if the Gravy or meat were from a can, but something was. Waitress was apologetic, and I see this happen on occasion. I gave the Trolley Bar 2 stars because our waitress was very kind and we had a large group. This was my second time eating here and I must say I'm disappointed. The brunch buffet had eggs that were over cooked and the grits had fish in them! This wasn't labeled on the buffet and our group had vegetarians and someone who is very allergic to fish. He had to use his epi pen in the bathroom because of eating the grits. This wasn't labeled on the buffet that it contained grits, but luckily he was ok. Wouldn't recommend the buffet unless you want subpar food that's over cooked and not labeled with detail. read more

Today (Valentine's day) was our first time at Trolley. We were very pleased with everything! As soon as we walked in, we were graciously greeted by the sweetest gentlemen. He sat us and our server, Britt, arrived quickly to get our drink and appetizer order. Once those came out, she took our food order, which didn't take long to arrive at all. The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing (and also very pretty - see the edible glitter?!), service was beyond spectacular, and the place was very clean and easy to navigate. I've only ever heard great things about Trolley, and now I understand why! We will definitely be back! I also want to note that Britt was an exceptional server! She was so sweet and personable! She took time to talk with us and didn't make us feel rushed like some places do when it's a "special day". We hadn't eaten at Ttolley in awhile and I'm not sure we will be back. Our server was very prompt upon our being seated at the table, which was good. I'm gluten free and our server provided me with a separate gluten free menu which was great! I ordered the lettuce wraps minus onions as my meal. When the lettuce wraps were delivered they had wontons on the plate. I asked the person delivering them and my server if they had been prepared gluten free. They both said, "oh my sure it is!" The server offered to double check which I appreciate. So the wontons were not gluten free and they look my plate away. My plate was returned with the wontons just scraped off of my plate. I asked my server if that's what was done and she said yes. I explained that there were crumbs from the wontons on the items still remaining on the plate. So she offered to have it remade. I gladly accepted and thanked her. 15 minutes later someone appears at the table with the gluten free lettuce wraps explaining that the sauce they use is not gluten free so it wouldn't include any sauce and they had prepared it with onions. I nicely told them that it wasn't supposed to have onions so I'd just like to cancel the order because everyone else at the table was almost finished with their meals. We stayed for awhile longer as people ordered more beverages. No member of management ever came to our table. Had I eaten the first plate or the first plate with wonton scraped off but with non-gluten free sauce I would've been very sick. So be warned and asked questions if you are gluten free. read more

It was a Saturday evening in The Fort which means everyone and their Mother is at a restaurant.... The mask mandate has been lifted which means even more people were out My wife wanted a steak, but we didn't have reservations. We tried a different establishment on Dupont Rd to no avail. Walked into Trolley and were escorted to a high top table for two. The place was packed, but service was still good and keeping a good pace. We started with a chicken lettuce wrap appetizer which was tasty. The Old Fashion was good as well as my wife's "mule" It's nice to see salad bars available again. We opted for the filets and both were grilled well and I was digging the mashed potatoes. The reason for 4 stars: *No description of what is in The Mule drinks. When we asked the server, she said "I don't know this is my 2nd night"...ok, no problem, understandable, but no offer to go find out. *My fillet must have had blue cheese on it, the scraped off before it made it to the table...no hiding that flavor *Requested no mushrooms in the appetizer...1/2 the plate was mushrooms The total was $135 before trip, and the experience fell a little short for that amount. read more

I really do not understand the low ratings. This place is incredible! The atmosphere is gorgeous and the food is incredible!!!! I loved my Lobster Bisque ! My friends and I shared two appetizers; spinach dip and buffalo chicken dip. Then we all got martinis (because what else do ladies get on 1/2 of martini night)! I got this apple pie one which was a thick and creamy martini. Tasted like fireball and rumchata were in there. Then after I got a martini that was more of a tropical dream. Blanking on the name but it was incredible. The waitress we had was on top of keeping our waters filled and was kind! I never felt like we didn't have something we needed. Unfortunately I do not have photos as this place has very dim if not poor lighting ambience even during the middle of the day when it's bright outside. Parking is ample as this is situated in a strip mall. Menu is classic American bar fare. Lots of choices. I had the fish and chips which was a decent portion but a bit salty in both fish And chips. I hear the salad bar is the winner here but I did not have that. Service was very nice, helpful and kind. Food was made quickly and cleaned off quickly too. Nothing stands out about the ambiance, food, location etc. it does seem like a reliable place to go for food in town. read more
