Loving this new spot directly across the street from Las Gaviotas. The owners and staff truly care about providing a safe, pleasant experience for their customers. They source all their ingredients in Baja, and they make sure to list the farmers, fishermen and artisans who provide these delicious products. In-house coffee roasting, craft beer, mezcal, wine, ocean-to-table fish for sushi and tacos and a spacious tasting room. What more could you ask for? Oh yea: a great outdoor patio/stage area for live music. It's great to see local businesses like this popping up and revitalizing this area that we've loved coming to for years. It was small, crispy, no goo, & nicely spiced! I could have eaten more! The place has an impressive variety of interesting things to eat & drink! I had a sushi burrito wrapped in seaweed with 3 kinds of fresh fish served with wasabi, soy, & ginger, of course. Their beer was a perfect compliment to the meal. We've visited Colectivo Surf twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Their menu seems to have expanded even more from our first visit in September '18 to our second visit in Feb '19. Love the oysters, sushi & sushi burritos, fish tacos, great local beer/tequila/mezcal selection AND also love how many veggie friendly options they have too (veggie sushi, homemade veggie burgers, etc). Last visit I had a really tasty kombucha on tap. The servers have been great, and love the large space and inside/outside seating options. We've also caught two gorgeous sunsets there - would love to catch some live music next time. read more

Almost everything about this place was below average. The oysters were small and way too salty and the beers weren't very cold and were flat. The most annoying thing was the low quality service. At least 5 people working on a Sunday afternoon and no one behind the bar as they were all in back grab assing with the cute girl bartender. Twice while waiting to order a drink no one was around and after waiting 5 minutes I had to yell for service. Someone stopped by to join us for a drink and got attitude from the bartender because he wanted to pay cash for his beer and not add it to our group tab. Someone went in to get a beer and cane back outside 10 minutes later empty handed because the staff was "too busy". The place looks cool and has some potential but I'll stay away. I come to Baja for certain things- and sushi, warm flat beer and crappy service is not among them. I'll stick to Splash, Charley's, or Calypso read more

Such an awesome place to have lunch and sit in the beautiful Baja sun; drink some locally produced wine and beer, eat some locally caught fish, and enjoy the beautiful view! On Fri-Sun night they have live music and dancing - we will have to come back for this! Most importantly, we spoke with the staff and he told us that with this restaurant, being cautious and intentional of what he is serving and purchasing, he is helping the local economy reproduce.
