We went there for an oil change and inspection. Halfway through the oil change, they say they can't do the inspection because their WiFi went out. And they can only do 25 "offline", and the truck before us was #25. Go figure. I have never been able to get an inspection here because of one problem or another. Then when we go to pay for the oil change, they can't take a credit card because of the WiFi, so they want to write the number down to run it later. I said no way, and then have to go get cash to pay. Oh, and of course the glass repair guy trying to fix some non-existent "crack" in the windshield. I will never go here again. read more

Took me longer to find a shop with walk in availability for an oil change than it did for these gentleman to complete it. Pricing and options were fair and transparent and they were so quick I was able to run home and switch cars to knock both out within the hour. i have had Jarrett work on all our cars multiple times in the recent past and he is EXCELLENT! Just like the previous reviewer, I WILL NOT let anyone else work on my cars except Jarrett. He is VERY knowledgeable on so many different cars, engines, brakes, electrical systems, etc....its shocking how much he knows !! We will continue to use Jarrett again and again AND share where Jarrett is working with all our friends / family. We have been to many mechanics over the years and IT IS VERY HARD to find a honest mechanic AND find one that know what the hell they are doing. Jarrett has both aspects of that...in spades. I have never been so disgusted with one of your team members. Today while getting gas next door. I witnessed one of your young employees ripping in to a lady in the store. Verbally abusing and making fun of her to the point she walked out crying. He continued to shout obscenity's at her when she was walking away from the situation. Went there once for a minor repair on my car. The price seemed a bit high but I was satisfied with the service. I went there a second time to get an idea of price on another minor repair. Before I left their office, the bill was about $500 and a 2 day job. Needless to say I went somewhere else and the same repair cost $150 and was done in under an hour. I have been there for oil changes and such and like someone else said, good conversation and basic services are their limit. read more

I've probably been to this place 10 times over the last 15 years.I have only had state inspections done at this place and if that was all I was reviewing this place would get 5 stars. They are quick and inexpensive. The service is excellent. My truck was missing two lug nuts and the guy found two and put them on for me. Super cool. And a really nice guy. However. The window repair guy they have on site totally caught me off guard. I ended up paying to have the tiniest "hole" repaired and I swear it was probably just a scratch. But after the spiel about how it'll spread and crack my whole windshield I was like, ok, lets do it. But I swear I instantly regretted it. I wonder if he would have tried to get some guy with more sense than I had that day to "repair" something like that. I just hate going to places like this for one thing and then shelling out for something completely different. My own fault for buying into it, but it annoys me that they would have this guy there hunting for "problems" on cars that aren't even there for that reason. Left a bitter taste. I'll go back, but next time I will have more sense and just say no to the windshield guy!! read more

Jarrett is the only person we'll let touch our cars-- a Hummer H1, Bronco, Mini, Wagoneer, and an F-150. In addition to the usual types of repairs, he's also done custom work for us. Don't confuse them with the oil change place down the road, which I think some people do unfortunately. Same name, different business. The quality of his work speaks for itself, and his honesty is a rare thing these days. Okay, so it turns out that my previous review was really for another location - same name, very nearby, not the same place. I heard from the new owner very politely letting me know my error. Turns out the new owner is an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC mechanic from the place I usually take my truck. He's opened his own shop here and although I have not been to his new location yet I can tell you that Jarrett has kept my 1995 Ford Bronco purring for over 20 years. So, I might have made a mistake but I'm glad I made it because Jarrett has always taken great care of me. Always. The older man that helped me today was extremely rude and condescending when I first walked in, acting like I should know what to do and where to go without telling me. Then, and auto glass specialist was helping me fix some spots in my windshield and when I was on the phone with my insurance company, he yelled at me for taking too long. They were recommended to me by a neighbor. All work was done as promised and on time and within the cost I was told. I even got a ride home. Everyone was friendly and easy to work with. Best kept secret in Austin. These guys are fast, friendly and low key with no frills and sales hype. I had my own differential fluid from Honda. My regular mechanic said price for diff fluid change with my own product would be $50. Coleman's price? $30. Maybe that was just some special price because it was the end of the day and maybe that's their regular price.. Who knows? This I do know because I've brought both my cars here over the past year. They do state inspections for less than $20. Next cheapest state inspection I've found is $28 plus. My wallet's happy, my car is happy and I'm happy. Thanks guys! read more

I've taken my cars to Coleman since 1992 when Rising Sun auto gave me a 900+ estimate on my Supra and I wanted a second opinion. Charlie said instead of doing all those things lets start with the low cost items and work our way up. $82 later it was running fine. That approach has kept me coming back. I had to go in early this morning to get an oil change and a engine coolant flush. Keep in mind that I am a widow and don't know much about all of this. The guys helped me with what I needed and were so kind and polite. They did they oil change and came in the waiting area and told me that they looked at the coolant it was great, absolutely no reason to change. I having always been a believer in honesty is the best policy but you don't find that all the time when it comes to vehicles. I greatly appreciated this and will always use Coleman Lube and Autotech for my truck stuff!! Thanks again guys!! read more

These guys never cease to amaze me. Getting ready for a trip to Colorado and had a loud sound coming from the front suspension of our BMW X3. My wife said to get it fixed before we go so I went by Coleman to see what the problem was and to get an estimate for the repair. Al had John Dodd their Tech check it out and he said it was the front struts that were the problem. Al gave me an estimate and I went home to let my wife know what was needed and approximate cost. She said to just get it done. I'm quite the cheap person and always get second and sometimes third estimates before doing any work. That said I took it by another shop in the area and called BMW for an estimates. BMW was a little over double and the other local shop about $350 more than Coleman's. The next day I set up an appointment with Al at Coleman and was assured it would be done by end of the day. Took it in last Friday and by late afternoon it was finished. Now it's driving like a new vehicle again and no funny loud thunking sounds from the front end of our BMW. Since I've started using Coleman Automotive I have not had any bad experiences or surprises. If you want it done right I recommend that this is the go to shop in South Austin. Honest and Friendly service at fair prices. I was in the automotive sales business for almost 30 years and have only found a few places that really want to fix the problem on a vehicle and not just buy parts and bolt them on. Coleman Automotive is a shop that I truly believe in and I'm glad that they are my go to shop for all my repairs. read more

There's no talking to the owner are manager, cost me $5700.00 out of my pocket because I did not want to deal with an attorney...somehow they know that. read more

Should have read Yelp reviews b4 I took my car in, with electrical problems. They couldn't find anything other than my battery was bad. They charged me $192, plus another $75 to install it!!! I called around; same work for $150, battery & installation. Al called & asked if he could drive my car home so he could see if the trouble light would come on since they couldn't get the problem to appear during their diagnostics (another $84). I told him no, yet there's 33 miles on my car. Al told me they'd fixed the side door lamp (cosmetic only, thought he'd replaced the lense cover). As I was reviewing my bill I saw a $58 charge for a new door lamp. Of course I had them remove it and put the old one back in. When he gave me my refund he didn't include the sales tax. I know - only $5 but it's his lack to detail only exemplifies his deceit. I'm fuming. The service light is on but I really don't want to go back. read more
