Had my car towed here overnight because i thought my clutch went out. Called in the morning and was told it was a clutch cable, the quote for the repair was nearly $1700. I called around to a few other shops and found one that would do the same service for 880, pretty much half the price. Also the price quoted for the cable was 304 and 384, after talking to a few shops, they all told me the cable only costs 206 in the book. Several shops told me 206 for the cable, why is this shop telling me i need to replace two cables and at prices 100-200 more. I would avoid this shop at all costs, pricing is a huge red flag, and they also tried to add on an unrelated transmission fluid flush and replace for another 380, yeah ok. read more

My family and I used to come to this shop consistently, trusting this family owned business. However, I think it has unfortunately changed hands. I drove back from Dallas and noticed a hesitation when I started my car the next day. I took it into this shop trusting that they'd find the issue and give me the option to fix it at a good price as they have before. Unfortunately, they found that my brakes weren't working and my oil was running out, despite having recently changed oil & evaluated brakes before my trip. They said it would be 1K to change my oil, back brakes, & rotors. They stressed that I should not be driving it, & it began making scraping brake noises AFTER I took it to them. What a coincidence..... Now, I am having to go to another shop to have my brakes changed because clearly, something has changed since they took it behind their garage doors. I was not having brake issues when I drove to and from Dallas. It is very sad to see that businesses are this desperate that they need to mess with vehicles and jeopardize the safety of lives for money. I am a young female, so I'm not surprised this happened. I was booked for an appointment at this place today (had high hopes) walked in immediately spoke to Megan who is controlling this appointment setups apparently .. she then proceeded to tell me I couldn't stay to wait for my car inspection (which is odd because I'm here for specific reasons) also told me they couldn't perform one of my request (to have the car lowered) which is fine ofcourse, but she told me in the initial appointment setup that they would look at/into lowering my car. Update -- 1. They misdiagnosed the problem. While they did fix it without charging me, they kept pointing out the cost. 2. My car was broken into while in their possession. Someone with the keys either let themselves in or they left my car unlocked and out in their parking lot closer to the street (making it vulnerable). They acted like they didn't know, but I think they knew it was broken into. My guess a door or the trunk was open when they arrived on Monday. 3. Took my car somewhere else and they said I in fact did not need front break pads an rotors like this place claimed. ------------------------ Original -- My car needed some break work. Took it in for the team to assess. They called me and quoted me $2314 for a master cylinder, booster, brake fluid flush, and front break pads and rotors. I shared that was too much! At that point, I should have gone, picked my car up, and taken it somewhere else.... Anxious and not knowing what to do, the guy shared the master cylinder, booster and break flush was the most important things to do right now, but that i shouldn't wait to get the other two things done. So, the new total was $1467 ($809 of which was labor; ~64% of the total cost). After picking up my car I called my friend, who it turns out has a friend who works at another repair shop. They ran an estimate on everything this place recommended -- all in it would have been $1461. Plus, they gave a 2 year/24k miles warranty, Leonards only gives you a 1 year/12k miles. Long story short, DO NOT GO HERE!!! An expensive lesson to learn. Also, when I went to pick up my car I said to the woman checking me out, I hope most of that labor cost goes to your team. When I asked them for the breakdown, JT immediately started dropping costs- well, you don't have to have this done, but it's not good for your car... blah blah blah. When I asked him why he was charging me DOUBLE for the piece, he said the ones I had priced at 5 (!!!) different places would not fit my car and would have to be zip tied in. I mean, come on. I can walk into Walmart and pick up an off-brand ANYTHING to precisely fit ANYTHING I own. He droned on about this and that- really stretched to make himself sound convincing. I called another place where a mechanic told me, quite frankly, anyone who is charging that much for this job is a scammer. I highly recommend you stay clear of these guys - they are LIARS. I called 2 times to ask if they could change out the headlight assemblies (parts I purchased) on a Cadillac and explained it was no easy fix - the bumper had to completely be removed. The manager said no problem. I dropped my car at 7:00 on a Friday and around 3:00 they call needing approval to get since the current one was corroded and keeping passenger side lighting from working - they could get for $325 (part was only $209) and have car ready by 6:00. Picked my car up at 5:45 and was charged $685 for the ballast and labor to change out headlights. I drive off only to discover not only are the headlights grossly uneven but the daytime running lights are not working. They allowed me to leave their shop without saying a word about the DRLs not working. They could call me to upsell the ballast but not that the DRLs were still not working? By them not calling, it looks more like they shorted the DRLs and did not want to be responsible for having to purchase / replace another assembly. There is just no other explanation which is clearly amplified when I took car back in. This time rather taking my money and not fixing the problem, the guy looked me in the eye and flat out lied to me-saying the DRLs were not the DRLs but just accent lights and my car would pass inspection without them working. He also said the reason the lights looked uneven was because they were made that way so not to blind the oncoming traffic - what a crock of shit. These guys have no business ethics and are basically con artists. read more

Kinda surprised to see some of these negative reviews. I had a great experience with the guys at Leonard's, and they were honest and upfront about the work and the time it would take. Some yahoos tried to steal gas from my company van and got their hose stuck (thanks guys!). Unfortunately, there was no easy way to just remove the hose, so we had to order another part that had to be shipped from some godforsaken place called "Missouri". There were only two in the country and one had just recently been sold. Leonard's was able to secure the other one and the van was fixed as soon as it came in. read more

I wish I had come to them first. My a/c was out, and I had Jiffy Lube refill the freon. It turned out that despite the "extensive leak testing" Jiffy lube performed, my a/c still leaked. One of the guys there recommended Leonard's. I did some price checking, and their labor costs were lower than other mechanics for standard repairs. They also promised they would take a look at the a/c after their repair to make sure everything was working properly. I came by a week later. They took a look at the a.c, pointed out some other issues, and then gave me a price. I heard Travis wrangling over the price of the replacement over the phone (good thing about small businesses), and know that he looked at multiple wholesalers for the best price. My car has now ascended to beater stage, since the a/c replacement is higher than the trade in value of the car, but Leonard's did give the most reasonable and - as far as I can tell - trustworthy estimate. The stay there is great. They give free wifi and coffee, two things you can't really find in other places. read more

UPDATED REVIEW Leonard's earned a five star rating from me thanks to six years of excellent service on my 2002 RAM 1500 pickup truck. This is a seventeen year old original owner truck and Leonard's has helped to keep it on the road. I enjoy not having monthly payments and not having to buy a new vehicle with all the cost that entails. From time to time something major breaks and repair costs can get expensive, but repairs have been completed promptly by Leonard's with no repeat failures. My most recent visit was for routine maintenance: oil change, transmission flush and filter change and fresh trans fluid, and a rear end fluid change. I called ahead to arrange for a morning appointment. Showed up at 8:00 AM. The Service Writer was ready for me. He gave me a lift home while my car was in the shop. Work was completed that day with a car wash and vacuum thrown in at no extra charge. My AAA discount of $50 was honored and I was given a Loyalty Discount of $30 for use next time. The Service Writer called my cell to tell me they had found fluid leaks - one at a sensor; the other in the steering fluid system -- and asked if I wished to have the leaks fixed right away. I deferred until my next service. There was no pressure to "do it now." When I came in to get my truck, the Service Writer showed me iPhone images of the areas of the leaks and explained risks of waiting too long to fix them. I will keep an eye on fluid levels and have the leaks fixed at time of next routine maintenance. I all, I was treated well. What was promised got done on time and at quoted cost. Quality of workmanship is high. Leonard's mechanic takes his work on my truck seriously and is a true professional. read more

I have taken my car here exclusively several times over the last few years for oil changes, engine work, and flushes. Here is the good news: They are a bunch of people-friendly, customer-oriented guys who really like working on cars. They are open M-F, 7-6 pm and usually always have the chance to get to your car. If they know they cant, they request a drop-off and work on the next day. Last summer they recommended and then replaced my rack and pinion system on my Acura, added new tie rods and new front tires, and did an alignment. They did a pretty good job, as I did not detect any issues afterwards. Then, I ran over a nail in the last couple of weeks. I took the car to them to ask if there was a warranty on the tire. There was not. Discount tire said they could add air, but advised me that the alignment I got was bad, because the front tires were severely worn on the inside of both. I took it back to Leonards and they agreed, inspected the car, re-did the alignment and replaced both tires, no charge. That's an honest shop. Never had any other issue with them, and I recommend their work. read more

Do not believe all the 5 star ratings. They will pick you up and do anything to get you over to their shop, but... They gave me an estimate of +$500 to change out a mass air flow sensor. I don't know anything about cars. I fixed it myself with a $110 part and it took me 2 minutes to change the part out. They will rip you off, if you let them. Here's my Leonard's Garage story. I had been referred to them by a friend who they did right by. He said they were that rare breed: an honest shop that doesn't overcharge and look for problems that don't need fixing just to up the bill. Looking into their reviews and reading their mission statement on the website was all happiness and sunshine. When my little brother somehow broke the driver's side sun visor on my Hyundai I thought of Leonard's first thing. Today I took the car in and was met by two very nice guys. The customer service was great, very friendly and very open. They took a look at my visor, confirmed for sure that it was broken and went to work at quoting me a price. Remember, this is for a sun visor on a Hyundai... They came back with $250 for parts and labor. I was taken aback. Really? I replaced a whole door on my last car for $400, how is a sun visor that expensive? How much was the part? Apparently, $120. I did some quick math. How much is the labor, then? $108 an hour and they locked in an hour for labor. That's pretty high and also seems like a stretch for replacing a sun visor. In their defense they did say if took them half an hour they'd knock off that labor time. I asked to think about it and did some quick internet searches, finding the exact factory part, brand new, for $50 with a google search. I asked about that and was told "Well, yeah. You'll find everything cheaper online. We mark up our parts in order to make a profit." Mark it up by 120%? Again they were nice about it, but it all seemed very extreme and absolutely not in line with their reputation. It even says on their website that they do a multi-faceted search on every part to ensure the best price! So, I go home, call a Hyundai dealership and get a quote from them. The Hyundai dealership quoted me at $120 all in, parts, labor and taxes. That's the dealership, the ones that are always the "expensive" option. But the guy on the phone suggested that visor replacement was pretty simple and I could probably find a walkthrough online if I wanted to do it myself. He stood to lose out on my business by telling me this, but he volunteered it freely. Sure enough there were many places to tell me how to remove and replace my visor and in 2 minutes armed only with a flathead screwdriver and a phillips head screwdriver I had the broken visor removed. If I had my replacement part (a brand new still-in-the-plastic original Hyundai visor for my specific make and model off of an ebay autoparts dealer for under $50 including shipping) on hand it would have taken me less than 5 minutes to remove and replace this visor... and I know nothing about servicing cars! So, a $50 part and 5 minutes of actual labor was what was needed and this garage, who prides themselves on being cheap and accurate, tried to charge me $250 for it. Seriously disappointed with these guys and when I relayed this story to the friend who recommended them my friend said Leonard's not only lost any future business with me, but with them, too because they were so embarrassed at how I was treated after they spoke so highly of this garage. That's it. Word of warning when dealing with these guys. They claim to be the exception to the rule when it comes to greedy garages, but in my experience they were just like any other garage trying to squeeze every single dime they can out of their customers. read more

Don't take your motorcycle here! Don't take your car here! They're expensive and slick. They seem very nice but are not! They don't know enough about motorcycles. They could even adjust my clutch correctly. After having my motorcycle worked on by Leonard's I figured I'd give them a chance with my car. I took my car there several times I it was expensive but I wanted a local mechanic I could trust. I had some work done on my transmission. When I came to pick up the car my a/c wasn't working. I knew what the problem was because I know something about cars. Leonard's told me that it was broken when it came in which wasn't true. I had some words with Jason about this and he accused me of taking advantage of them. HA.... A mechanic saying that a customer is taking advantage of them is very funny! Then he banned me from coming back after I though he hung up on me and I sad some words. As if I would ever go back to Leonard's after they called me a liar and treated me so badly. I have to change my review of Leonard's. Five stars are dropping to three. I've had a couple visits that were less than stellar. I made an appointment for an oil change a week in advance. It ended up taking over two hours, no explanation given. Fast forward a couple months, I came back with a few issues. The main one was malfunctioning air conditioning. I watched the guy write down all of my points of concern on my little info sheet. Come back to pick up the car, we're going over the bill, no mention of the A/C. I asked, "Did you get a chance to look at the air conditioning?" I was met with confused looks and quick apologies. While all the problems on my car were eventually fixed, I was very annoyed. They did not listen to me, and my time was not really valued. Nice guys, and they get the job done. But it appears they're not focused on holding onto customers. I'll be finding a new mechanic. read more

I rolled in to get a free check up on my Exhaust. I figured it could not hurt since it was free here. I roll in at my appointment time and my car was taken back. I was told they could weld in 2 new cats for my car for like $249 each cat, which I thought was a little on the pricey side. Rock Auto has a rear replacement Cat for $177 and that's the whole pipe. The guy there told me if they did my cats and I still had the issue, he would credit me what I already paid toward the price of fixing it, which I thought was pretty good. I then asked if I could bring him my own parts and pay them for labor only. You would have thought I was asking to visit with the Pope. If I was not a programmer, I would have been a mechanic. I know the shop time to replace a bolt on cat is 1 hour, provided you do not into any issues. I asked how much they would charge me for this. He told me flat out he did not know. I was asking for a "rough estimate". Any mechanic who knows his business would know exactly how long it would take to do one job. He could not give me straight answer. I left knowing if Honda would not honor the warranty on my cats, I could take it to them. I went over to B&B who told me it would cost $329 to weld in a rear cat by itself. I was impressed by B&B. I thought Leonards could have give me a little more idea of costs. If Leonards would have been a bit more upfront with me, I might have offered to leave it with them and have them do the work that day. Thanks Leonards, I will stick with B&B or the Muffin shop. read more

I hate all car shops. This is the least worst in my opinion. I have an old Mercedes so I do have a somewhat limited selection on shops. The office staff has really been improved over the years. They are very competent, professional, and nice. They are a little pricier than some places but they do not suggest services you don't need and they do a great job. They often send out discount coupons in the mail. If anything goes wrong, they always make an effort to make it right. Only complaint is really that they are always so busy! read more
