I've been visiting the one in Pasadena for years. Helpful staff always. Big collection of graphic novels -- i love browsing the art style and pick a new series. Comic book is an expensive hobby but I get so much joy browsing them. So glad they reopened after Covid shutdown. Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing. This is probably the most well organized comic shop that I have been in. I was impressed with how they utilize the relatively small space without it feeling cluttered. Collector's Paradise has a lot to offer including back issues from older books. I found a bunch of short boxes with $1 back issues lining the floor on the left wall under the shelves! The comic guy who was there was not the owner, but he was super friendly. After telling him that it was my first visit to the shop he got up and gave me a tour of the place explaining the order of how everything was displayed. If you live in Pasadena this should be your go to place. If you are visiting Pasadena this place is a must visit. read more

I decided to start buying monthlies again for the first time in about 3 years and, having recently moved, decided to give this place a go. It's outstanding. The shop is pleasant and extremely well laid out. Easy to find what you're looking for, and a good assortment of back issues if you're looking to jump into something new and want to catch up. An amazing collection of trade paperbacks and graphic novels, including a wall of very nicely curated selections. They have a great pull service too that you can manage through their website; easy to add, drop, read previews, and see what's coming out that week -- even if it's not on your list! What can I say about this great store that has not been said already but FANTASTIC! The owner(Ed) of both stores is as professional as can be, and Andy(Pasadena store manager) is a class act with his knowledge of books. What makes this comic shop different then the rest is not just the huge collection of comics but the great staff that is always willing to help out with finding you a book or giving some recommendations based on your interests. This shop also has special signing events were not only do you get your books signed for free but most of the time they have drinks(soda and beer) and snacks. I spend about $300 to 400 a month on valiant comics. I ordered 30 at $15 apiece of the bloodshot one variant by paradise comics with the covers by sandoval. You would think a hardcore collector who spends that kind of money might be a customer you want. I then Back of May when paradise owned by Ed Greenberg preordered for $300 each for bod two sets. I decided to cancel before it was shipped but he said it could not be canceled. I had to have 3 major surgeries. If you have a customer buying over $300-$400 a month that is not good business. He only cares about your money and could care less on how you feel or doing. I work hard but also spend hard. Anything in life that you preorder you have the right to cancel from a consumer point of view. That why retail businesses have the return policy. It pays to wait for his 75% sales if you like saving money. I think people should know that when they order from Paradise or ed Greenberg. You are locked in because you have stuff allocated. I came here because I read on Yelp that they had a good selection of comics and figures and the staff were very friendly. Well, they do have a good selection of comics and figures, but I did not get the friendly staff. Instead, I was not even greeted by the guy at the counter. When I asked him a question, he gave me some snarky remark and was very unfriendly. When I left, the guy just stared at me in a weird way (I think cause I didn't buy anything). I even said to him "thanks, have a good one" and he ignored me. I'm never coming back here and will instead go to Comic Cellar in Monrovia or Alhambra where they're way more friendly than this place. read more

New to the area, I was looking for a friendly atmosphere, and failed to find one. Perhaps there is new staff, but this is the second time I feel I'm invading someone else's own little world when I try to communicate. They have some okay prices, and plenty of $1 back-issues, but I just can't fund the attitude. I went out of my way to sign up for yelp just to add my two cents, since I was dismayed after reading all the good reviews. Update: I do appear to be the only poor review here, but my experience is a good representation of my experience. I have no reason to lie here. Even though this has not the comic book store I frequent the most it has over time become my new favorite. I have been to many many comic book stores in the Greater LA Area, Everywhere from Rancho Cucamonga to Valencia and everywhere in between, I just enjoy this store the most. It's may not be the largest or the most fancy, but it is clean, well stocked, well organized, and very import for me well staffed (most of the time, like all comic shops out there, there's some bad apples working there, seriously I've surprisingly seen bad workers at every comic store I have ever been to as some time or another, it's sad really but the worst I've seen here pales in comparison to some other stores). The biggest thing for me has been the promotion and sales, I have gone out of my way past other stores to go here lately for the smartly done deals and the atmosphere doesn't hurt ether, they have MANY MANY in store events like artist or writer signings even parties and not just on free comic book day, in fact they had the greatest promotion I have ever seen done at a comic book store fore free comic book day, they turned it into FREE COMIC BOOK MONTH, it was pretty amazing each week you would come back with a stamp card and get a different type of comic book and the final week you got a free graphic novel plus each week has a HUGE SALE the final week's being comic books by the pound it was a pretty magical month for area comicbook lovers. They also have a nice and to the point newsletter they email to customers letting you know what is new and what is good. A few of the reasons I have shopped there lately have been they have picks by the counter that if you don't like you can return (I haven't returned any yet though) they have a system that lets people get store credit on graphic novels (I'm not signed up for this I just give my credit to my significant other since this was not in the past my go to store) they also are one of the stores around that bundles back issues at a discount so if you are like me and miss a story line that sounded interesting some times you can pick it up before it comes out in collected volume form (Not the only store to do this, but it was one of the first in the area I personally noticed doing it a while back). Most recently as most of you know DC has done the 3D cover villains month 52, I really like how this Collector's Paradise wasn't being like some of the other stores that jacked up the prices from the start on the 3d cover ones (except the extremely limited 'forever evil #1" variant), not only did I get the 3D ones I wanted, but I was quite happy it was just at regular cover price they just had them on the shelves not even in plastic so you could really see what they looked like (they are amazing covers), they aren't one of the crappy comic stores that pre-bags every comic and doesn't want you to flip thru them ever (seriously, I will not shop at a comic shop that does not let me look inside the new comic before I buy them). All in all for me Collector's Paradise is as good as it gets as far as comic book stores go, they could have a bigger location, more back issues, more toys etc, but they don't need it, the store has become my current favorite without that stuff. Quick side not like most stores you can have standing orders on hold (I personally don't do this at any comic store, it's personal taste and also the fact I go to comic shops sporadically). Another thing to note is they are mostly about comics, they do carry art books and toys, etc, but don't expect a huge amount of them but they have a decent amount of both (they did even recently have star wars black series figures last I was there though) but they don't do games like some comic shops do, but there is a game store next door (I think they do magic the gathering cards or something there) or if you are dead set on games after you get your comics you can travel a few miles down to Game Empire (***** a five star game store for sure) which is a HUGE game store and a mecca for game players in the area. Don't get me wrong this is not my go to store, there are other places around that are very close to the top of my list as well (Comic's Factory is neck and neck right up there too and very close by distance wise to this store and defiantly ***** five stars as well.) but Collector's Paradise has become my recent favorite for sure, and I shop here almost as much as stores closer to where I live (this store is out of the way for me and is a long enough drive I literally have to pass other comic book stores to get there). I remember coming here when they first opened (they replaced another comic store that was there before them) they were very small and had a small selection, I didn't think much of it back then, last couple of years though, wow have times have changed. If you haven't shopped here before check it out, especially if a sale, a deal, or a special event happens. I can't recommend this store any more highly. read more

Drove out there on a Monday from the West end of the Valley. Spent a good amount of time digging through their bargain bins. Found a death of superman graphic novel in a 1st printing for 50% off cover which came out to about $3. The attendant was helpful and friendly. Good experience overall. read more

I would just like to add a follow-up relating a moment that I was reminded of from reading the business owner's reply: Half of the condescension I initially got while setting up my file with Andy was actually directly related to their "recommended titles" program. I had specifically asked if I would get signed up for any other books that I didn't add a sub to myself, because my last store had a similar system and it was frustrating, to which I received a very dismissive reply from him along the lines of "No, that's stupid. Why would you even think we'd do that?". So pardon me for operating off the assumption that no, Collectors Paradise does not have such a program that I need worry about and that no (non-free) errant titles would wind up in my stack that I'd have to watch out for. read more

I was instantly impressed with the staff, their knowledge and their general entusiasm and helpfullness. Pretty good stuff. They have their new releases, graphic novels, some toys (mostly pop), a few blind boxes, and a few statues. Prices are fair. They got some dollar comics too. I always feel nostalgic walking into a comic book store. I used to go to comic book conventions all the time as a kid so it always brings back good memories when I see a comic or two of what I had in my collection. I laugh though because it's still at the same price or lower what I paid for way back when! It was for fun anyways and I'm glad I did it. read more

I can't say enough great things about this store. A true fan works here. I didn't catch his name, but you will know him by how he goes out of his way to acknowledge every customer. On top of that he knows what he is talking about. He is a true fan! Now for the 5 star review. I was looking for a 3D DC Villains cover that I really wanted. He told me, "sorry sold out." Collector's Paradise is waaay more than just a comic shop. They have great events there as often as they can. Much more than any other store in the Los Angeles area. There are always creators coming in, doing signings, sketches, and usually each of these events has a special theme, or something that makes it stand out. Today was my first time in a comic bookstore and my first time buying a comic....ever. Justin, the cashier, was such a great resource for me. He was just as enthusiastic as I was about finding just the right issue to dive into, plus he gave me a couple freebies as well. What started out as a casual drop-by turned into a really fun visit at a new favorite spot.
