Stepping into Comic Cellar is like walking into Narnia, if Narnia was full of comic books, smelled slightly of vintage paper, and had two friendly guides named Tom and Brian instead of a talking lion. This place has everything.... shiny new comics, ancient relics from the comic book Stone Age, Manga, and probably a cursed scroll or two. My daughter asked about a specific comic, and Tom and Brian sprang into action (to assist) like Batman and Robin (you decide who's who). I was impressed w the Manga choices as well. The vibe? Went in for the first time yesterday and was a great experience! Picked up some awesome older star wars comics and they had a great selection of other things like posters and figures and collectible . Would definitely come back. Parking sucks cuz it's on the Main Street but then again all Main Street parking sucks lol . Great service and owner was super chill and I liked the different types of ppl who were in there . Come for the half off section, stay for the great employees! I used to go to their Monrovia location growing up, but started coming here once that one closed. They have a great half off section in the back with some really stellar options (you'll even catch some Fables in there sometimes)! The sales are great and they have a solid selection. I got some really great recommendations from Alex today that he picked for me based off of what I've loved to read in the past. You can find the Comic Celler located on Main Street in Alhambra. We were walking around and stumbled in here. They have a large selection of new and old comics. You can find the more expensive and valuable comics in the case near the register. They have the comics organized my different characters if you are looking for a specific character like Spider-man. If you have time to kill, you can peruse the $1 comic section which has many different comic books of different subject matter. We came in with our young son who is obsessed with Spider-man. We ended buying several Spider-man comics that were in a section that had 50% off comics. I grabbed some $1 comics that I thought were cool and interesting. Street parking and lot parking available! I ordered a graphic novel several weeks in advance, the person on the phone was very polite and professional, letting me know that graphic novel I requested wasn't out in stores yet, but to let me know they'll be able to get me a copy I can pick up upon release! A few weeks later, I get the faithful call to pick my order up! It slips my mind, and almost three weeks later, I head over to pick it up. The atmosphere is very causal, with tons of comics, graphic novels, and artbooks. I browsed and nearly bought a few more things, but I had to restrain myself. Again, the front staff is polite and rings up my order. The book is in perfect condition, and I leave a happy comic reader!! Will be back for special comic orders for sure! read more

This used to be one of my favorite comic shops. Before there was a worker who was super nice and accommodating to help me find the comics I was looking for. As a teenager comics are one of my favorite things, but the person who was working there when I went there most recently was extremely unfriendly and rude to us, supposedly because we are teenagers. There was a funko pop low to the floor so I lifted my foot up, hovering it over a foot away from the funko, and showed it to my friends. The employee came over clicking his pen at us and getting mad asking me, "Are your hands inoperable?" I tried to explain that I didn't touch the funko, but he wouldn't hear us out. This is probably the worst experience I've ever had at a comic store, and will be taking my business to other places that are friendly to teenagers who are interested in comics. read more

Alex talks to people about the books they're buying, he offered some tips about setting up a small box kit he was buying. It's just refreshing for this place to have someone behind the register who acts like he cares about the people coming in. I didn't even really see anything I liked today, but I ended up picking up two of the higher priced books behind the register just to show some appreciation. Let me preface with all the free comic my friends and I received we give them to kids we know and love. Honestly I'm leaving a three because of the rules they had on free comic book day. The audacity of this place to charge a quarter on free issued comic books. The comics literally state $0.00 near the barcode. My friends and I were told we could receive one of the free issued comic book. If we wanted more we would have to pay a quarter just shameful. Thankfully we had the day planned to hit up other comic book shops in Pasadena, Glendale, and Eagle rock. Which we were happily to receive free comic books and other cool items. And because there wasn't an added charge for the free issue comics. We were happy to buy a few comics and items from the shops. read more

When wandering around Main Street in Alhambra, perhaps walking off dimsum from down the way, be sure to pop into this fun comic book shop! Han Solo fills the vanishing point upon entering, which lends a nice touch to the usual decor or collectible comics on the walls and towering columns of Funko Pop toys, although they have ample amounts of both. I browsed a while, sometimes usual shop under orders certain issues and rather than wait two weeks i prefer to support other shops if they have the missing issue(s). Shop owners are also great sources of industry trends, rumors, and upcoming releases, so be sure to say hey. Overall, this is a very good shop, more and more often smaller shops primarily carry contemporary comics, toys, collectibles but have less space or access for older comics in boxes. That's not the case here,however, so bring the hand wipes and browse the organized back issues, and randomly packed dollar comic boxes. Like most shops these days, if you're a regular consider setting up an account to have them pull your favorite titles each week, there's usually tiered discounts involved, and it's a wonderful way to support true small businesses, especially in these trying times. read more

I really like the Cellar, but I got to keep it a buck. I came here occasionally when I was a Teen and really liked it. It's nostalgia overload you feel like a nerd right from when you enter (that's awesome) Although at first I thought it was closed so I tried to open the door and to my surprised it opened? The person working there said it was the wind like this is a recurring thing. Maybe it's time to invest in a new sign to avoid confusion cause I almost drove off. Value wise it's what you probably expect a little on the pricey end, but I totally get it and looking at the bigger picture it's reasonable for the most part. This would get a easy 4, but what had me torn was the mediocre customer service. Guy working was a nice enough guy at first and was giving people info when stuff would be available. Perfect. What had me torn is I just asked a simple question if I can get a total on the figures I thought about purchasing. Not a terrible question and I don't expect a miracle worker but I do value customer service. I don't know he just seemed annoyed or bummed that I asked I was gonna buy another pop before leaving but I was just not in the mood. I got my pops and a free comic and that's great but I also felt like dude wanted me out of shop so take that for what you will. read more

I love visiting this comic bookstore. I have been a loyal customer for around 7 years. I come for the amazing selection and fun banter with employees, but unfortunately, the worker I ran into last night was very rude I was very disappointed. I asked about a walking dead comic and he told me they haven't had a new comic in 13 years. Which is wrong! he seemed genuinely annoyed about me, asking about the walking dead. I buy the volumes of walking dead and last bought the newest release of a volume a few years ago so for him to make me feel stupid was not fun. I just told him no big deal and left without purchasing a few comics I wanted. I will come back but if he is working i will gladly drive across town to the book store. Hidden gem!! I was leaving another Funko store and on a whim decided to stop here. I really didn't think that this place would offer much, and I was very mistaken. The store wall is lined with Funko Pops, and even down the middle of the store are scattered Pops. The inventory isn't very extensive, usually 1 Funko Pop of each character, but the boxes were mint, and reasonably priced at $11.99 for 1, or 5 for $55. I was able to find 5 "common" Funko's which were vaulted, and long gone. Who knew I could find my missing ones at this tiny store? Parking can be found around the corner in one of many public lots. read more

Came here after lunch the other day just to browse and look around. I have always loved comics and read more when I was younger but haven't really picked one up or followed a story in probably over ten years. I spoke with the man working at the front (Tom I believe) who was extremely knowledgeable and overall just a really pleasant conversationalist. Tom talked with me about what some of his favorite stories were and educated me in a way that didn't come off as condescending or rude. After speaking with him I just knew I had to get back into comics right there. Looking forward to coming back and can't wait to see what he recommends next. read more

Nice layout of the comic book shop, during this Christmas time, they have a sale on graphic novels for $5 and really nice picks. Every time I've come into this store and it doesn't matter who it is but whoever's behind the counter always has a shitty attitude or they're playing their Nintendo switch lite. This store has no customer service skills at all either in person or by phone. The store has a good selection of comics, toys and collectibles which is nice but not even then will I enter this store. Honestly I only come here as a last resort and that's if they don't have what I'm looking for online or if another store is out of stock. If you're in the area do yourself a favor and go to the Comics Factory in Pasadena. It's bigger and better. Staff is awesome. You won't be disappointed trust. read more

This place takes me back to yesterday! Elementary school, saving allowance to buy 2 or 3 comics a week. Now with a job and more money, means more comics! And this is the place for it! Great selection of back issues and new releases. Collections, TPBs, posters, and ofcource POPs. Very knowledgeable and nice staff, and good prices. No frills, nothing fancy, just wall to wall comic goodness. Get a back issue for yourself, and something new for the kids. I came here for Free Comic Book Day. For the noobs, not all the comics are free for free comic book day. This particular store had a selection of about a dozen comics they were offering for free. The catch is that they gave one free comic a person, and any additional were 25 cents. The selection was different, but next year I'm heading to Nostalgic Books and Comics first, because they had an unlimited number of comics free. I ended up paying for a comic I could have gotten for free. They had some sales going on, including $1 comics, $10 prints, 50% off this and that. Their selection was great, because the store is big, and they have only a few copies of each comic. They also had more memorabilia than the other comic book store in the area. However, for the most part, the comics seemed more expensive. The staff is knowledgeable and more approachable for your common customer (parents and whatnot). They had an artist who was doing sketches with a huge line. Overall, it's a great store for people who are hardcore into comics, or just getting into them. read more
