Chorizo scramble with Diced Green Chilies, Homefries and tortillas (flour). 8.30.2025
    Stephen M.

Walked here from The DoubleTree for an early breakfast in the cool August morning air. Walked in, saw only 2 other customers at 6:45 AM. Great service: Friendly hosts, who also double as great wait staff: Frequent checks at the table, always with a coffee carafe in hand for a warmer. Ordered the chorizo scrambler (made with nearby Sunnyside chorizo), which is topped with melted cheddar cheese and green chile. I opted for no sour cream, which is also standard, per the menu. Sided with home fries and flat-top warmedflour tortillas, which are fluffy-ish, not thin. You guys, this breakfast is pure Southwest magic. We loved seeing the attention a patron's dog outside received as more, and more and more people were waiting for a table. Get here early! You will not be disappointed.

Blueberry pancake and side of sausage

Cute breakfast cafe - we were lucky to snag a table since it is on the smaller side with a few booths and tables. Food came out quickly and the staff were lovely. I had a blueberry pancake and a side of sausage. The pancake was huge and came with whole blueberries - I'm glad I only ordered one because I ended up with leftovers. The side sausage came with 2 patties - a bit of a kick of spice and tasty. My husband had the biscuits and gravy which were fluffy and the the gravy was well-seasoned.

    French toast breakfast with sausage

This is a hidden gem located off the heart of Durango and may have the best breakfast sausage I have ever had! From the welcoming and friendly service, to the quant and small location that makes you feel like you are home everything works and fits. Then to top it off the food is outstanding, it is so good we had it to days in a row. The first day I had the pancake breakfast and the pancakes tasted just like my grandma made and my wife had the French toast breakfast that was truly amazing. The second day I had the biscuits and gravy and my wife as the pancake breakfast. The biscuits and gravy were delicious and fresh, the sausage was spicy and flavorful and the home fries and really good. If you are ever in Durango this is a must if you are looking for a great homemade breakfast!!

Absolutely packed with flavor and worth every penny. The vanilla latte was excellent too. They have a legitimate espresso setup right there, and you can tell immediately that this isn't just basic restaurant coffee. The latte was smooth, flavorful, and exactly what I was looking for. What really topped it off was the service. Everyone I interacted with was kind, courteous, welcoming, and genuinely seemed happy to help. Even though they were extremely busy, my to-go experience was easy and pleasant. After a frustrating breakfast experience somewhere else in Durango earlier this morning, Rupert's completely turned my morning around. Fantastic food, excellent coffee, great people. I'll absolutely come back whenever I'm in Durango. That breakfast burrito alone is worth the trip. 5/5.

My wife and I each ordered ours smothered in green chili. She had chorizo, and I went with the slow roasted pork. They were both outstanding. The green chili is some of the best in Colorado. These burritos are now tied with our favorite breakfast burrito in the state. We visited on a Friday morning in August. It was busy, almost every table was full, but we were sat immediately. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food came out timely. We won't forget this place when we visit Durango. I forgot to take a picture before I started to dig into mine, but here's what a half eaten one looks like.

If you are a lover of well done birria, this is your place. Craving authentic Mexican food? Yep, this is your place. We started with their chips and salsa. I think you can tell a lot by the salsa at a place. Lemme just say, I was so very happy! Their salsa wasn't too chunky, not too thin and they are not afraid to season and add some heat - but hey, don't worry it wasn't too hot if you've got a dad like mine who isn't a fan of "too much spice." Such a good omen. I couldn't decide which marg to try so ordered a flight. Best decision ever. Even as I write this, I'm still hard pressed to choose a favorite. They were all so good. Add street tacos, quesadillas for my mom, elote cob, and switch fries for my dad and we were all happy campers. The flavors were obscenely good. Staff were amazing and stopped by to make sure we were always taken care of: fast and friendly. Best combo ever. The place is also super cute! Loved the bar and simplicity of the concept. The eggs were cooked perfectly! I can't tell you how many times I have gone to restaurants and chefs. Do not know how to cook an egg over medium! Cheesy green chili grits were fantastic just the right amount of spice and a great cheesy topping so good! The fruit cup was plentiful with grape strawberries and cantaloupe, pineapple and all nice fresh fruit. My husband said the bacon was perfectly cooked and the hashbrowns had a great crunch. We will definitely come back anytime we are in Durango! If you're in the area, they are worth the trip.

She took the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Silverton, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go because of a medical condition that prevents me from traveling to high altitudes, and the train climbs to around 10,000 feet. After she left on her adventure, I decided to find some breakfast. While I was walking around town, my aunt called. She and my uncle used to vacation in Ouray every year, so she knows the area well. She recommended Jean-Pierre Bakery, so that's where I headed. I was seated right away and ordered a coffee while I looked over the menu. My waitress was very friendly, and we chatted for a while. She even recommended a few places around town that I should check out. I finally decided on the Croque Monsieur (brioche, béchamel, ham, and Swiss cheese) served with a salad. When my meal arrived, it looked fantastic. The sandwich was delicious, rich, and full of flavor. It was my first time trying a Croque Monsieur, and I really enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the vinaigrette paired perfectly with it. After finishing my meal, I couldn't resist ordering a pistachio cream-filled éclair that had caught my eye when I first walked in. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The pastry was very dry, and the bottom was quite hard. It definitely didn't taste freshly made. The pistachio cream had a nice flavor, but there wasn't very much of it. I mentioned my concerns to my server, and she kindly brought me a chocolate éclair to try instead. It also looked wonderful, but it had the same problem. The pastry tasted old, almost like it had been sitting for a couple of days. I would absolutely return for another Croque Monsieur or to try something else from the breakfast or lunch menu because that part of the meal was excellent. As for the pastries, they certainly look beautiful, but based on my experience, I would probably pass on them next time. This would have been a solid 4 star if those eclair had of been good.
