Specializing in breakfast and lunch (though Sunday is breakfast-only), the fare comes in sizable portions for a reasonable cost. The food was all very tasty -- high-quality biscuits and gravy, good hash browns, excellent bacon, and house-made green chili, a long with decent eggs and pancakes the size of your plate. Bring an appetite and expect it will be fulfilled. The decor is like what one imagine's a diner at a train station would be (complete with an operating model train endlessly circling the walls just below the ceiling). The tables were a bit cramped for four -- overall, elbow room is at a premium -- but it was worth it. We chose the counter sitting. Fifties style cafe. Very cool and interesting decor. We were excited to order. Service was kind and quick. My husband and I both ordered omelets. I ordered ham , veggies and cheese. Could have used more cheese. My hash browns were not cooked enough. My husband also felt his was lacking cheese( cheese omelette) and that his eggs were over cooked. They ran about $14.00 each, not cheap. Coffee $4.00. The coffee was good and served hot. read more

On the last morning of our visit with our son and his fiancée, they brought us to Oscars. Located in a plaza with City Market as its anchor, it is a very narrow restaurant with table and bar seating but really only enough room for one person to walk down the aisle. When I was in the back waiting for the restroom, I felt like I was in the back of an airplane. It does have a cool retro vibe, fifties-style. Our young female server was very nice and took good care of us. I had the Durango scramble with hash browns and sourdough toast. The scramble was delicious, the hash browns crispy on the outside, could have been more so on the inside. The toast was not warm. My wife had eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancake; she didn't care for the hash browns. Otherwise, she enjoyed her food. Other entrees were biscuits and gravy and French toast which looked delicious. Oscar's is a hometown hidden gem where only the locals go. It's in strip mall tucked away from the tourists. But for the lucky tourists that do find it oh my are you in for some excellent food and friendly people and cutely decorated slice of heaven. They served actual homemade hash browns not that frozen premade kind. Extra crispy didn't even have to ask. I ordered my all time favorite eggs Benedict and it was the best on the planet hands down or up. Thin sliced ham, crispy English muffins and rich hollandaise sauce. Sometimes I wish I could eat way more than I can but I just can't. I also had some of the best tea from Sundrop Tea. They are on instagram. I bought a box of jasmine moon. Remember that show in the 80's called Alice? This is the type of place where I kept expecting Flo to saunter out and tell someone to "kiss my grits!" But everyone was so nice. It is literally in a small storefront so it was packed with people and a little loud. The good kind of loud. We sat at the bar, which was fun to see the staff doing their thing. We had breakfast. We almost ended up at Denny's, but thanks to the amazing girl at Rocky Mountain High for recommending this incredible local spot. Now we have a favorite local dispensary and a go-to breakfast spot every time we're back in town! Get there early, there will be a wait, but it's 100% worth it, and the seating moves pretty quickly. I enjoyed my dinner so much that I returned for breakfast the next day, even though my hotel had a free breakfast. My wife tried the house favorite of French Toast and I had the Eggs Benedict. There aren't enough superlatives to describe our flavor experience here. The Eggs Benedict was the biggest serving I've ever had. Nothing stingy here. A ton of ham, and a generous amount of their delicious and rich homemade hollandaise sauce. The eggs were perfect, runny yolk with well cooked white. And the hash browns were a treat in themselves. I took half of my meal with me and was so pleased to have it the following morning. My wife shared a wedge of her french toast, and it was wonderful. Perfectly sweet, no need for syrup (the syrup arrived at the table warm). The house coffee is worth as visit as well. Rich and multi levels of flavor. The waitress offered to refill our coffee 3 times. Finally, the train motif was great. I felt very comfortable here. Wish I lived closer, or could move Kelly and Guy to Virginia. read more

It's a very small place and could not accommodate the six of us with a toddler we had to sit at separate tables. the food was hot and fresh but nothing out of the ordinary. The coffee was average . I had the eggs Benedict, which were good, but my wife had a hash brown and green chili style breakfast, which she said was very dry and tasteless. she ended up eating less than half. This is a quintessential breakfast and brunch diner. It's not fancy, but nobody ever got full on fancy. The food is delicious and well prepared. You can see the pictures, I'm sure! The portions are large. The staff is superb. They work well together as a team. The kitchen moves swiftly. There's always been a wait whenever we come but you can join the waitlist from Yelp. My wife is in a wheelchair and the entry is very tight and there's not many tables that can accommodate her. We can enter backwards to get over the threshold. But the staff is always polite and accommodating. If you use a wheelchair get the table in the front by the windows. read more
