We drove 3 hours from Creede to get our truck from Ford dealer. We didn't want to get in Dorango traffic for lunch. Found this place and so glad. Right off the freeway. Great inside, nice tables and booths. Service so nice and attentive. The wife needed a salad and got a huge Cobb salad with chicken and the works. She also ordered a side of fried okra. Delicious. I got the senior portion of chicken fried chicken. Sides were fries and a huge side salad. Tasty honey mustard dressing. Chicken was tender and gravy excellent. Both came with a roll or corn bread. We went in on a Saturday morning around 10:45. Expected to have a bit of a wait, but we were sat instantly! The place was busy! The service was exceptional. Brenda herself was wonderful, and very involved! Love to see an owner that cares that much. To the food! First off, portions were awesome! You will not be leaving here hungry! My 3 amigos all ordered the chuckwagon scramble! They all loved it, and the bite I tried was bomb! The potatoes, and veggies were all cooked and seasoned to perfection! I ordered the good ole chicken fried steak(CFS), and it was bombbbbbbb! Hadn't had chicken fried steak in close to a year, and man I was stoked to get back into the game with some CFS at this level! Ordered the chicken fried steak with carrots and black eyed peas And The chile bacon burger They were busy at 1:00 pm on a Wednesday. Only one empty table so that must have been why we were ignored for 15 minutes after sitting down and we had to wait another 10 minutes for water and then finally the food arrived The food itself is not great. The plates are tiny with three divisions so the steak overlapped into the other divisions. It was weird. I'm not sure why so many high reviews because the chicken fried steak tasted like ground hamburger with a bland gravy. And it was not hot, like it sat awhile before it was brought out. The service was incredibly friendly, and we even had the pleasure of chatting with a local family who frequents the place. "This is where it's at," the matriarch assured us, and she wasn't wrong. The burgers were delicious--hearty and packed with flavor. My husband ordered his burger à la carte and I did the red, white & blue (red onion, bacon & blue cheese.) When I accidentally spilled the milk for my tea, the wait staff were understanding and gracious, helping me wipe the table and overall making us feel right at home. The restaurant's old west decor & vibe adds to its charm, and the menu is full of creative cowboy-rancher names that make choosing a dish even more fun. It's the perfect family spot, offering wholesome, homemade food in a welcoming atmosphere. Our food came a bit late as the place was mobbed due to the holidays. A little surprise at the and of our meal was from our thoughtful waitress who gave us a discount for our patience. If I could give this new Brendas 0 stars I would.. It's not the same. Since Breanda sold the food quality and sizes have gone down. I ordered a French dip with cheese.I got a 1/2 soggy bun with extremely dried out Roast beef and no cheese. It was so dry I had to put Mayonnaise on it.Just too softened it up. I asked for onion rings and they were blan and no flavor. I asked for ranch and barely got two ounces of ranch and paid a dollar for that. And after tasting the ranch , I think it was spoiled. I called to speak with a manager was placed on hold and somebody picked up the phone and just said "Hello" No "Hi.My name is so-and-so I'm the manager. How can I help you?" I expressed my concerns listed above and I got a 1/2 hearted.."Well I'm sorry" from a person that I don't even know if it was the manager. No, "If you'd like to bring your food back, we would love to remake it for you." Nothing of the sort. I probably would have been better off spending my money at the restaurant that shares the same building with them and would have probably gotten better food. That's saying a lot. read more

Brenda's offers a hearty breakfast menu with excellent smothered breakfast burritos, yummy biscuits and gravy, steak and eggs and stacked enchiladas topped with an egg, grits, crispy hash browns, pancakes, etc. Delish! The lunch menu is equally good! Burgers, the onion rings are to die for, THE best chicken fried chicken and steak, mashed potatoes and gravy just like my mama makes, soft yeast rolls, beautiful cornbread muffins and delicious vegetable sides! The restaurant is busy and the sweet waitress works her tail off providing fast and friendly service with a smile. Definitely give Brenda's a try if you're in Bayfield or just passing through. Went to Brenda's for the first time today. We were greeted by Brenda herself and given all the details about menu and hours. She is a wonderful lady! The place was very busy. The chicken fried steak was very good, as was the okra. All sauces and such are made there. The chicken fried steak is hand-breaded at time of order. The prices are reasonable and plenty of food to feel stuffed upon leaving. The waitress was great and very attentive. We will definitely go back and can't wait to try other items on the menu and the breakfasts!! So glad we discovered this restaurant after many people suggested we try. read more
