Having gone to UMD College Park in the early 90's, I was familiar with the location of this Exxon station. Located nicely near the Collge Park Shopping Center and downtown off of Route 1, this is a nice service station with full auto bays to help a customer out with a quick fix repair. I rode in one Saturday on a spare tire after getting a flat while on a campus. Ugh...a Saturday in College Park MD! My wife was taking an art class so I had to deal with the tire replacement while she was in classs. These old fellas have probably worked in this station since the late 70's/early 80's. No problems...swaped out my tire for a new one and I was gone within an hour. Also, if you're getting more extensive repairs or an oil change, there is Plato's Diner within a short walking distance next door. Highly recommended if you're in a bind. read more

The pump I selected was closed for repair but another one was working. The one unisex bathroom was dirty, perhaps never cleaned and smashed up but unlocked and open to the public. The gas price was higher than average. I really can't recommend this gas station. They can do better and they know it. If you have to use a bathroom, please go elsewhere. Had 2 terrible experiences here. The first time I took the car in because of a bad engine mount, which I could visibly see the engine hanging down and no bolt. I told them it's the mount; they told me it was the oil and said they fixed it with an oil change. Went to pick up my car and the problem was still there. They finally listened to me then kept my car for 2 weeks to fix one mount. After finally getting it back it was still off although they told me it was fine. The second time I asked for a state inspection and they told me it would not pass before I could even get out the car. Do not go here! read more

Talk about price gouging but I guess they do it because they know they can. This gas station is arguably on University of Maryland campus and extremely convenient. No one is ever there mostly because the prices are so high compared to other areas. I've come here often when I'm desperate but otherwise I'll go elsewhere. Most of the time I'll just put a gallon or two in my tank which will get me to a different gas station that's about $.14 cheaper. read more

This place has horrible customer service . I went there to have a cup of coffee . There was a seating area so I decided to finish my cup of coffee (15 minutes). A man came to me and asked what I was doing there and I informed him I was drinking my coffee that I bought at the station and he stated " you can't stay here it's only for people playing the lottery " He told me his boss made the policy !! I told him it was a horrible policy and very disrespectful and insensitive of his customers . Please beware of this establishment . If you gamble they want you to stay and have a seat !! read more

Don't take your car there for nothing other than gas or maybe oil change. I brought my Jeep there for an engine light code that I had used my OBD reader to diagnose, they repaired that code and tried to say my problem was another code that would cost an additional 2000.00, after I did not go for it, they said that they had to test drive it a little while so that the repair to catch up with the on board computer, REALLY. and they left parts of my car's body parts disconnected from another repair. read more

I recently went here for repair work to be done on my Honda. They did a wonderful job despite one mistake they made with the part which had to be a genuine OEM part. They tried one of theirs and it failed. LoL! They were cool about it and admitted this on the phone. Did I mention they have great phone skills? They were honest, friendly, and willing to answer any questions I had. The price is good on repairing parts if you are shopping around for a deal, especially around College Park, Greenbelt, Hyattsville, there are better deals here then going north to Bethesda, Rockville, etc. My total came to about $700 vs. $1200 at the dealership. Huge difference in savings! I would have rated them 5 stars if the diagnostic test was as accurate as the dealership, but their scanner (I call it mini doc) is not designed for Honda cars and came out with five codes to which it should have been only one code. I was carjacked at this station this past week during morning rush hour while it was daylight. The cashier, who had a clear view of the incident, did absolutely nothing. When I asked immediately after the carjacking why she didn't call 911 in response to my cries for help, she said she thought I was just having a disagreement, which she characterized as a domestic dispute. Given that the man assaulted me and robbed me of my car, her explanation was not plausible. Even if she thought I was being attacked by an acquaintance, she should have called 911. I am appalled that an employee of this station would let this happen to anyone. read more

Disclaimer: I am 22, and this is the first time I've ever had to deal with my car on my own, because my parents always handled it, so I don't have much to compare this place to. However, my car started smoking/steaming in Riverdale, and I called AAA and asked them to tow me to a place in College Park (my ultimate destination). This place was one of the few that were open on a Saturday, which was really nice. The people who work there were very professional and friendly, and the car seems to work fine now (needed a new radiator). They were very good about getting me an estimate and doing the work quickly. If I have another problem, I will definitely go back to this place. read more

Recently had to leave my daughters Audi A-4 at this shop for overheating. They tried changing the least expensive thing first (the thermostat), but when the problem didn't abate they called me and told me they did not want to keep messing with the vehicle because it could get expensive and they might not have the expertise to repair it. They suggested I tow the car to Audi. In a conference call with the manager, Doug, and a mechanic from audi, they determined it was a failed water pump. My daughter was able to drive it the next day, much to my relief, as we are over 250 miles away in NJ and I can't tell you how pleased we were with College Park Exxon and Doug. read more

My father and I have had a couple good experiences with College Park Exxon (different vehicles). My father had a fuel pump fail on a holiday and got a quick turn around despite the holiday and a successful repair at a fair price. I had my a/c compressor seize up and catch the belt on fire. Their a/c repair was successful the first try and according to what pricing info I was able to find from dealerships, I paid about a third of what a dealer would have charged. It is a handy location, and I have been able to get minor things done with zero wait when I have driven by and seen a bay open. read more

Been going to this place for 7 plus years for oil changes and routine work. Went today for state inspection and because the "check engine" light was on. Turns out my gas cap wasn't on tight. They charged me 85 dollars to diagnose and reset the light. Must have taken, oh about, 5 minutes. When I asked, the short of it was, "you can't reset the light by yourself" (read between the lines, "so we stick it to you"). Perhaps, needless to say, won't be going back. #$#$ me once shame on you, do it twice shame on me. read more

the cashier working there on 11/1 at around 9 pm today is a thief. he is skimming debit cards and taking money. he attempted to withdraw $91.00 from my checking account. my bank caught the charge as suspicious. so it did not go through. his skimming machine is inside the cashier station. the gas dispenser is rigged not to take sales outside. as a result, customers have to go inside the station to pay. he then skims the card. calling the police on this business. do not buy gas from this exxon station. read more

I had a problem with a flat tire and the guy tried to tell me that my aluminum alloy wheels were rusting... Aluminum does not rust.

They were able to help me out with a flat tire. Repaired tire and remounted it for me promptly with no hassle. Modest cost of $19.00. I am thankful for place like this that is more than just self service gas. read more

i think this exxon has a problem my daughter had her battery replaced a year and a half ago battery died ok simple right no they replaced bad battery fo new on thats not the problem the owner doug told me they do not warrenty the labor and besides chargeing us for labor on bad battery they are very rude to customers i stood and listened to him say he does not warrenty any labor and he told my daughter the bill would be 44.35 when we got there we found out the bill was 95.05 he did not disclose the full amount of bill till we got there i have heard over the years that this station treats women like idiots and now i have seen it first hand i advise anyone male or female not to take your car to this place you will be ripped off signed pissed off and angry ps i will be contacting the bbb about this station and doug get a personality you are lucky i am not a violent person most men would have hit you if you talked to there daughter that way you might want change your tnor in the future read more
