I never mentioned it in my initial appointments because my previous dentist denied there was an issue and I just gave up. Don't do that by the way, I should have immediately gotten a second opinion. I finally worked up the nerve to mention my pain at my most recent appointments and the Dr IMMEDIATELY identified it. He had me describe the pain, he gently messed with my jaw and he poked at the muscle. The fix was so simple it was almost laughable. I have had a lot of dental work over the years including multiple crowns and they just needed to do a bite adjustment. The pain was gone almost literally instantly. After the usual dental visit soreness my jaw felt amazing. I didn't even realize how much my life was being affected by it. I had stopped feeling hunger cues because of the pain, I was constantly in a bad mood. Lesson learned, if your dentist isn't listening to you about your issues, move on and get a second opinion. I was unable to walk for more than a few minutes without stopping to stretch my lower back and hips. My legs were heavy and I felt like I was pulling a great weight with every step. It was exhausting and painful. A contributing factor is an injury in H.S. gym class 57 years ago. She has used acupuncture, targeted stretches and her keen ability to zero in on trouble spots. I'm originally from California where people charge for everything and they move you around like you're on an assembly line. Our last orthodontist was a great guy but Doc Curtis is in a league of his own with this office! I just had to add this: my daughter just got back from a week long girls camp and decided to chow down on a bag of kettle corn. Needless to say her spring popped out and the wire stabbed her in the cheek. We had no idea where the spring went and she was crying because the wire was stuck in the j side of her mouth. Dr. Curtis has a plan for emergencies. He has an on-call orthodontic assistant that answered the phone promptly and agreed to meet us at the office to take care of my daughter. Did I mention that it is 8:30 at night?!?!? Yeah. Doc Curtis and staff come through for us again! And AGAIN the service was COMPLIMENTARY!!! If I could give them 10 stars I would. UPDATE: My daughter just got her braces off and just wow...in one appointment I saw my daughter go from hiding her smile to feeling confident and beautiful. If only you knew what she was going through and how this completely changed her. I wish I could express to you in words how much this meant to her and to us, her family. It may seem like such a small thing to some but for my daughter this could be life changing. Thank you so much for bringing a smile back to my daughter's face.

That said, the biggest issue is availability. It feels like the focus is more on bringing patients in than actually accommodating them once they're clients. There's very little flexibility with scheduling, and getting an appointment after school (3-5 PM) is nearly impossible. Missing school regularly just isn't a realistic option for most families. If they could improve access and scheduling flexibility, this would be a much stronger experience overall.
