I broke a tooth and my current dentist couldn't get me in before Christmas; however, Harken Dental (who wasn't even my dentist) fit me in! I had crowns put on my front four teeth by Dr. Harken and it ended up being an awful experience. When he showed them to me before putting them on I expressed not loving the color. They were slightly darker than my other teeth and while they looked pretty natural had more intentional imperfections than I wanted. He polished them a bit and I expressed I still didn't think the color would be good. He talked me into having them put on, assuring me I would like the color. I didn'. I called about having them replaced. He told me Inshould have decided this before they were put on, which I had and he convinced me to have them put on, and all he was willing to do was polish them more if I signed a waiver that it was against his recommendations and would possibly turn them gray and make them look worse. On top of that they kept trying to charge me another $1,000 over what I was quoted and the $2,000 I had already paid and after both of my dental plans had paid a good portion. I have talked to several other dentists first who all confirmed this was not ok, and he should have replaced them. Now for mnay years to come I am stuck with front teeth I am not super happy with after waiting over 15 years to be able to afford to have them done. It is not only the teeth I am unhappy with, but how poorly I was treated after letting them know I was not happy. read more

Terrible experience going here. I went in for a crown on one of my back teeth and they ended up bruising a nerve in my tongue that made the entire right side of my tounge numb for A MONTH. After about 2 weeks the numbness moves to just the right quarter of my tounge. My tounge is fine now, but having a half numb tongue for a month was absolutly miserable and it was because of the incompetence from harken dental. Will never go back and would strongly recommend others dont as well. read more

Well Harken Dental gets my first yelp review in over two years, my yelp reviews are reserved only for the slimiest of businesses. I went to Harken Dental because I was new to town and it was the first dental office I saw off of I-90 on the way to work. I had a minor tooth ache that popped up soon after I moved to Spokane. I went into this place and they did an X-ray, the Dr. came in poked at my tooth for literally 4 seconds and proceeded to tell me that there was tooth decay below the tooth surface and I needed the tooth drilled to a stump and a crown put on. I was totally fine with this because my natural instinct is to trust the dentist's word. The Dr. quickly left the room and about five minutes later his Sales person came to try and hard close me on a $750 bill that "needed to get resolved today or I could cause long term damage to my mouth." Needless to say I got a bad feeling, left the office and immediately began seeking another dentist for a second opinion. When I saw a normal, honest dentist they discovered that there was in fact no tooth decay. My crown just behind the tooth that hurt was causing the pain because it was just sitting too high and simply needed to be shaved-down slightly. I'm so happy I listened to my gut instead of the dentist I saw at Harken Dental Excellence, it would have cost me my tooth and a lot of cash all because they'd rather get paid than be honest. Harken dental is awesome. The best part is they are open 7-7, super convenient. The office is super clean and up to date, everything looks new. The staff is all so friendly and super helpful. I have had tooth pain for years now and I finally decided to do something about it. I had to go back so many times for this pesky thing but they finally figured it out and there is no more pain. As for prices if you have insurance it is not overpriced at all. Dental work is expensive regardless if you have insurance. It cost me $522 for my root canal which is the same as what my dentist in Florida quoted me. The crown was going to be $599 but I ended up just getting it pulled after the root canal, which I knew it would only be a 50/50 shot of fixing the pain. A number of different dentists said the same thing. cleanings are covered fully twice a year. read more

I LOVE these people! I was referred to them by Dr. C, also a great dentist, but does not currently have "emergency" service for when they are closed. They referred me to Harken dental to help me with my first dry socket after a surgery. They were soooo sweet to me and helped me for three days in a row, with the dressings I needed. It was horrible pain and they were really helpful. Also, the office is beautiful, spacious and smelled good--not "dentist-chemical-stinky". I have referred a couple people there and they have both had a similar experience--all positive. Oh, and they were not covered on my dental insurance but really worked with me on the charges and payment. They are open crazy hours--weekends, evenings and it was really easy to make an appointment--a really positive experience. I don't stress about dental pain and weekends any more because Harken is there to save the day! (And, the patient). Nice work! read more

Keep looking as Harkin Dental charges are 30% above customary charges according to five online dental cost calculators for the Spokane area. I was charged $300 for a simple 20 minute appointment to rebond a crown that came loose. I was charged $99 for a "exam" and one bitewing x-ray and $200 for gluing the crown back on which took 5 minutes. UPDATE: less than a year after Harkin Dental overcharged me for gluing on a crown it came off again!!! This time I went to a reputable dentist who charged me $130 to glue the SAME crown back on that Harkin had poorly done less than a year ago! Avoid this place find competent dental care. read more

Harken Dental Excellence is in a league of their own. The staff is professional and caring. Perhaps a bit more expensive than some dentists, but the level of expertise is far above the norm. We had been going to Dr Brad, moved to Indianapolis 10 years ago, and returned just recently...re-establishing our connection. Wonderful customer service. Went in for the first time in horrible pain, knowing I needed a root canal, they got me in, did xrays and then set up an appointment for a Sunday. They did amazing work, for the first time I wasn't in horrible pain after the root canal was done. The crown was placed perfectly and even feels like a real tooth! I will go no where else from now on. After that appointment they suggested a cleaning. I had at that point almost used up my insurance coverage so they comped me the rest that insurance didn't cover. Referred a friend to that and she had no insurance, so they set up a payment plan with her so she could get out of pain. They provide a level of care that is hard to find in the other local dentist. read more

They were all so kind and compassionate, very gentle with David, and understood his fears and made him feel as comfortable as possible. They were really wonderful! My first visit was good. Good cleaning and pleasant office. Having worked in a dental office for a number of years. I was aware of how things should be done in my opinion. Having worked with dentists who are conservative in their treatment plans, I must say Dr. Harken is very aggressive with his plans. I've had some amalgam fillings for over 20 years that dentists have told me would need to be replaced at sometime but since they were not bothering me, it was my choice. My last visit with Dr. Harken... I needed a new night guard for my grinding, and he wouldn't do it until I replaced the amalgam fillings. I was shocked. It seems I will be seeing another dentist for my future needs. read more

I thought I had found a good dentist, I was wrong. I went to them to see if they could replace a crown that had fallen off. The doctor said he could, the post looked good and he could put some pins in to stabilize the new crown. I paid over $1,300 for the procedure cash, because I had no insurance. After 9 months the crown became loose and started rocking on the post. The doctor said he needed to replace the post and do a new crown. And that there would be no charge. After which I told them I recently got dental insurance and I wanted an estimate on some other dental work. After the procedure they billed my insurance for the repair. When I contacted them about this, they said the doctor felt justified charging the insurance to recover his costs. I did not give them permission to do this. I don't like businesses that help themselves to my benefits without asking. AND I don't think anyone should get paid twice for poor workmanship. read more

Harken dental is a wonderful dental office. DR. Harken is very experienced and does a great job. I consider him a specialist because he can usually find out what's wrong with my teeth when I can't even tell where the pain is coming from. The staff is very kind as well. They are open 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. The staff does not seem overworked at all and I noticed they rotate and have weekend staff so they all seem happy. The office is clean and has amenities such as tea, coffee, water, and mouthwash available in the restrooms. The dental chairs are very comfortable and the equipment they use is new technology. The doctor is also very good at giving shots, sometimes I dont even feel it! I would not ever want to go anywhere else for my dental work. I have had crowns, an abstraction, cleanings, and a bridge done there. The service may be a little more expensive but it's worth the extra to have such an experienced dentist! read more

Let's just say that my sister in law thought I was absolutely CRAZY because I ended up going there every week for the last two months of 2015 and actually enjoyed my time with Dr Harken and his staff.. Lots of neglect over a decade was fixed and this year of dental work starts soon! Beginning with my crown and root canal - Yay can't wait!!! Haha not really but I wouldn't trust anybody else and if you show up like I do then you walk right in to a party with awesome people and no pain during all dental work - I wish I could post some selfies I took with the staff during my time there haha.. I had a horrible toothache and a friend recommended Harkin dentistry. They made a same day appointment, and had a root canal done the same day. Everybody was really nice. Extremely terrible experience. I was told on the phone that they would take good care of me. I was in extreme pain with a full on abscess that was infected. I was sold $89 cleaning , x-ray and evaluation. They told me that I would need over $5000 worth of work. I told them I couldn't afford that but they still pressured me to apply for care credit. They preceded to clean my teeth which by the way was done so poorly that when I went for a second opinion they were shocked at how bad they did in fact they were embarrassed for me. They also sent me home with no prescription for antibiotics or pain meds even though I was obviously needing both I literally in sheer pain had to come back in person the next day to get it. Then they kept bugging to schedule a root canal though I still had no money or care credit approval for it. The building is so fancy and elaborate it just shows where their priorities lie in lining Dr Harkens pockets so he can go on about how he looks like Brad Pitt yah more like Brads pit yuk thank God I found a much better Dentist office that treated me with the dignity and compassion I deserved read more

Rude office staff that handles the insurance. They don't understand that when your insurance benefits run out for the year , that you don't want to do anymore work until they renew at the first of the year. Other dentist offices work right with you letting you know exactly how much you have left with your benefits. Other dentist offices will let you know whether the work you need done will be covered by insurance, they will give you an estimate showing the work that needs to be done and the cost that will be billed to your insurance so that there is no out of pocket costs (not here). Only came here because of convenient hours. Prices are high here compared to others. SHOP AROUND. The last appointment I had the staff member wanted me to sign a paper to authorize an appointment for another crown, but I wanted to ask my husband before we made this appointment in which he was out in the lobby waiting for me and she said no you don't need to go get him, just sign here now. All this is why they are losing two patients. We like Dr. Harken and his assistants but not the front staff. read more

this dentist office is amazing!!! my crown from a previous dentist popped off on a friday night. they are one of the only dentists in town that are open in the weekends so i got up and called right when they opened to see if they took my insurance. the receptionist was super nice and when she asked if i was in pain and i said yes she told me to come in right away. i would have been willing to wait there all day if needed but i was seen as soon as i got there and was all fixed up in no time. i will most likely make them my primary dentist from this experience and there flexible hours. read more
