Back porch of cottage # 6.

5 Stars for Nancy, Best Customer Service ever! Coloma Cottages is a private resort on the river. There are a few different cottages you can rent, we were in # 6 Riverhaus. Two days prior to arriving you will receive an email with current info on how to check in. You will basically text the manager, Nancy, 30 minutes prior to arrival to get your code for the security gates. Once you enter she will be there to greet you and get you settled in. The Riverhaus is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage. You have a front porch under the roof with a couple of benches. There is a living room with a couch (pulls out to a bed), a fully stocked kitchen of pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc. The kitchen counter has seating for 2, but there is no actually dining table inside. The bedrooms are small but have comfortable beds, and the bathroom has a small counter so there is not a lot of room for stuff. Great water pressure though! There is an a/c unit in the living room and TV's but no service. There is Roku in the bedroom and DVD's and VHS tapes to watch in the living room. Good wifi thoughout. There is a small back porch with a table and 4 chairs to eat at and it has an umbrella. There is normally a charcoal BBQ that you can use, however because of the fire risk being high we were not able to BBQ. There is also a laundry room on site if you are staying longer term. You are on the river, and there is some access, though it is rocky, no beach area Positives: *Nancy! She is wonderful, super great personality and always willing to help *Kitchen has lots of items in it, I did not feel like I was missing anything *Beds and pillows were comfortable *Great water pressure Could have been better: *We did not know about the not being able to use the BBQ so we spent money on charcoal and food and then could not use it. I wish the email sent out 2 days prior had told us this. Thank you Nancy for providing excellent customer service, you are a blessing!

Love going to Coloma cottages to get a little mini getaway from the city and reality! I have stayed in all of the cottages and go at least a few times a year and all the cottages are very comfortable and they have everything stocked that you will be needing for your entire stay. You can get your groceries right there in placerville only 20 minutes away! Many different wildlife around and on the property! Danika and Nancy are amazing at accommodating with you at anything you need during your stay! There's so many things you can do while on your stay at Coloma cottages like gold mining, fishing, river rafting during the summer, and many different little trails and cool little old cemeteries! My kids enjoy going every time it never gets old for them! This is my #1 go to spot for my mini getaways and always will be!!very clean cottages inside and out always sanitized before you arrive!

This is the second time my family and I have stayed at this amazing little spot. The hosts are as polite and hospitable as it gets! I am very critical when it comes to house cleaning and was again very thankful that so much effort was put into cleaning. This is a spot we intend to visit every year!

A few cottages located near the river in a "summer camp" type setting. Cottage appeared to be freshly painted and was in good repair, but had a slight musty smell (which is not uncommon for an older cottage in a rural setting). Since neighboring properties are private, hiking is limited to a nearby state park. It does allow dogs which is why we chose it. View was of owners storage and parking, river is not visible. Stay was ok, but guests should be warned of owners policies. Here are some photos of her house handbook. Which include many potential fines that can total over $1000. Fines are for silly things like cooking bacon. Stay was OK, but guests should be knowledgeable. I've never encountered anything like this in many years of travel across the US and abroad in much nicer places lol. We are a professional family of 5 adults, so the only fine we incurred was late check in. Despite paying extra for 5 person occupancy, beds are unmade and insufficient towels. (This was stated in the manual which you receive after booking.) We were also forced to pay for a guest that may be stopping by in advance or owner would not give the gate code. It was refunded after departure once they observed our guest didn't arrive. The only place I've ever been charge a guest fee is at an all inclusive resort and it was when my guest arrived, not in advance. This was by far least welcoming place my family has ever stayed in. Host did leave a bottle of wine, so I guess all is well. It's an OK place to stay, but I feel guests should know what they are dealing with prior to booking.

It's only about an hour away and just a short drive from Placerville, making it an easy escape into nature. We stayed in South Fork Cabin J, one of the resort's select pet-friendly cabins, and absolutely loved it. It was the perfect blend of camping and glamping with a fully equipped kitchenette including a stovetop, microwave, sink, toaster, dishes, and utensils, plus a private bathroom with a shower, two A/C units, and a spacious living area to relax after a day outside. My Goldendoodle, Bailey, had the best time exploring the property and curiously checking out the river. We loved relaxing in the Adirondack chairs along the water, and there was plenty of open green space along with giant chess, Connect Four, and cornhole. I also appreciated the multiple dog waste stations conveniently located throughout the resort. Check-in was incredibly easy since we arrived after 5 p.m. Our paperwork was waiting on the corkboard at the front gate, and we received our gate code by email the day before arrival. The staff were wonderful, especially Joey, the Reservations Manager, who took the time to recommend local activities, resort amenities, and nearby historical sites. The resort also has beautiful riverfront cabins and campsites, a cute camp store stocked with souvenirs, firewood, and forgotten essentials, plus a unique one-year rebooking policy that lets you reserve the same accommodation for the following year if you fall in love with your stay. We also highly recommend grabbing a coffee and a bite to eat at Argonaut Café. Overall, Coloma Resort is a beautiful, peaceful destination whether you're looking to camp, stay in a cozy cabin, or enjoy a dog-friendly weekend in nature. We can't wait to come back!

When we went to the front office, there was still no one available. We also encountered other guests actively searching for staff and unable to find anyone, which makes it clear this isn't an isolated issue. The lack of basic amenities was also disappointing--there is no WiFi or laundry on-site. While the location is beautiful, it seems to be the main reason this place stays in business, as the customer service and amenities do not meet expectations. The bathrooms were acceptable, but the shower pressure was extremely low, which made it difficult to use--especially for anyone with thick or textured hair.

From the moment we stepped onsite for our initial tour, EarthTrek was the immediate and obvious top choice for us. The grounds and facilities are very well kept and it's obvious that the family takes a lot of pride in the way they care for the site. There are so many areas for guests to explore and enjoy - many of our guests raved to us about the beautiful, serene venue. The river provides such a soothing backdrop and the whole site feels very private and secluded. We really loved that our guests could book overnight camping, and we also opted for the breakfast burrito option on Sunday morning, which was a big hit and a really delicious, bountiful spread. Laura, who was our primary point of contact, is a dream to work with - just genuinely one of the nicest people I've ever come across, and so accommodating and responsive (which is exactly what you hope for when you're planning a wedding). Our wedding was very DIY and decor-forward, and Laura was so great about scheduling site visits with us so we could plan and take measurements. THEREFORE, I searched ALL the YELP! photos I posted: I found a few photos dated 1/5/2019 as PROOF I did write my reviews for both locations. Disappointingly, ALL my photos AND reviews for James Marshall's Monument and Coloma State Park event MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEARED AFTER 2019! UNHAPPY! Anyway, in June 2022, I attended a Military Funeral I personally arranged at James Marshall's Monument for my deceased Army friend who passed away plus, instrumentally preventing his family from spending an egregious, heinous sum for funeral expenses, i.e., I contacted the Coloma State Park's Head Supervisor Ranger on my friend's family's behalf. Blessed, the Head Park Ranger Supervisor contacted my friend's family a couple days later who only had to pay $75.00 for reserving James Marshall's Monument location for my friend's Military funeral! The location presided a PRIVATE, dignified, Military funeral which involved the US Army Color Guards who fired off a 21-Gun Salute for my deceased Army friend, ample parking provided for all attending the Military Funeral, conveniently located picnic tables for food/libations setup, and more importantly, an easy, short stroll to James Marshall's Monument where the 21-Gun Salute was presided. My friend's family were so grateful to Coloma State Park's Head Park Ranger Supervisor for allowing presiding a Military funeral which was quite a distance from the Coloma State Park's American River parking lot. Reiterating, reserving the James Marshall's Monument location for my friend's family and all who attended my friend's Military Funeral, it was so PRIVATE, awesome, easy, uncomplicated set up due to the picnic tables for the food and libations were conveniently adjacent to the clean restrooms, and overall, a gorgeous, tranquil, serene, appropriate location presiding a somber, dignified, Military funeral. Finally, presiding a Military Funeral at James Marshall's Monument for my friend's family will always be remembered and revered. Best of all, all who attended my friend's Military funeral have ALL returned exploring James Marshall's Monument--again, James Marshall's log cabin, checking the construction updates for both St. John's Catholic Church and Emmanuel Church, Sutter's Mill, gold panning the American River, sent snail mail from the Coloma Post Office, ate at my friend, Noah's Argonaut Cafe, and hiked all the trails, too! BTW: Since I'm 100% Service-Connected Vietnam Veteran possessing a Veteran's Distinguished Park Pass, reserving James Marshall's Monument would be NO FEE for me!
