This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Parkersburg WV area. The food is homemade and delicious I ordered my favorite Beef Liver w Onions, Mashed Potatoes w Gravy and Peas and a big Yeast Dinner Roll with whipped butter and Half cut sweetened tea. Tony's was the same except his sides were dressing and Mac n- cheese. They don't serve beer so he gets sweet tea here! Highly recommend eating here if you're in the area. read more

First of all, the food is amazing. Anything you order is incredible and it's all made in-house. The Barb's salad is the best salad I've ever had in my life. The pancakes are giant and the dough is so sweet. The service is also incredible - the servers remember your name and your order. We always eat here when visiting the area. It has a very casual, hometown feel. The food overall is mom and pop good with very reasonable prices. The breakfasts were solid...eggs, bacon, pancakes etc. The next day, we ordered a rebel and the egg salad special. The reuben was yummy. The soup was good but the egg salad was more pickles than egg. The waitress was slow and lack luster; 2 other tables that came in after us were served/finished before our food came out. My husband was grumbling; the server said it was because the toast got burned and had to be re done! The best thing this trip was the pies and cakes. My husband bought 4 different kinds of pies to go, and I had the carrot cake. Best carrot cake ever and he loved the pies, esp the banana split and peanut butter! read more

Murdoch location - I had the spagetti with garlic bread was good. I asked for meat sauce and meatballs both. The pasta didn't seem homemade and the meatballs was dry on outside as you can see in picture. Our waiter was Carol and she was very friendly and helpful. Tried Southside location today- Ordered the italian sandwich and was not pleased with it. Looked nice on outside but taste was different than those i've had in past. Not much lettuce and tomatoe and meats was very thin. Was told special today mac & cheese and baked beans... seen sign on way out said porkchops and bbq wish i knew that. Brought our ticket to us and didn't ask if we like one of their homemade desserts. Fact couple behind us even ask if they had dessert. Not very pleased sorry to say. They have a large waiting area and a sign in book when you walk in. The tables are spaced out nicely.with chairs and bench seats.. Nice selection of food and desserts to choose from. My husband and I only eat breakfast here... The breakfast foods are typical diner food with the coffee being on the weak side. This is not a great restaurant if you have food allergies or sensitivities. One problem we normally experience is cold food. Enjoy please don't forget, waiters and waitresses have to have tips to make up the difference in their lower paychecks. Even when 15% was the proper tip, we gave them 25%. People seem to think this is some kind of 'comfort food' place or whatever. It is the absolute cheapest, most poorly prepared and rudely served slop east of the Ohio river. I don't know what has happened to this place but it is hit the pits no one on the staff is recognizable anymore the food is crappy at best and the service is slow coming from the kitchen. What happened? This used to be a great place to eat but I'll go elsewhere now. They never have buckwheat pancakes anymore I ordered a Belgian waffle and it looked like a burnt Eggo at best. I've been to Parkersburg on several previous occasions, but never noticed this diner. It's pretty easy to miss, as their sign does not really stand out. Had it not been for my GPS, I would've driven right past it! I missed lunch, so I wwnt there for an early dinner. When I saw that they had a meatloaf special, I knew what I was having, as that is one of my "go to" dinners. Portions were very generous, and the quality of the food was very good. Nice little spot for a home cooked meal. The chicken livers leave a little to be desired. The portion is very small (we got 5 pieces of livers) and the taste was so so. Their BBQ sandwich is delicious however! It took over an hour to get our food and all we ordered was chicken livers with cottage cheese and a BBQ sandwich with onion rings. I haven't tried their pies yet but plan to do so. read more
