We tried it because it was the closest breakfast place to our hotel, and it was amazing. Not only the food was great, but the staff as well. I can't believe I've lived in Knoxville for 5 years and no one has mentioned this place before now. It's really making me question the people I hang out with. I've passed by this place so many times and never noticed it. Get breakfast here. That's the only recommendation I can make at the moment. Scrambled eggs and bacon are cooked perfectly and the potatoes have capers in them! Much yum. You can get delicious biscuits and gravy as a side and take half your meal home for later like I did. Tasty food great service at affordable prices. Stopped by for lunch had only ever been here for breakfast before. I had chili and grilled cheese while the hubby had a Philly. There wasn't a bite left on either plate which is saying something for me when I can usually barely finish a kids meal these days. I even snagged one of his fries to dip in my chili. The servers were friendly and helped each other making sure no customers were ignored. Over all a great experience. Don't let the outside fool you. The woman working the grill today was extremely rude. She snapped my head off when I reached for napkins and asked for silverware. She just kept on being rude. so I got a box and left. Great local place that has simple breakfast food. I had the homemade corned beef hash and it was delicious. It had capers in it which I've never had, and it enhanced the flavor in a way I wouldn't have know. My wife had the blueberry pancakes and they were huge and tasty. Thumbs up. read more

We were on vacation and decided on Colonel's Cafe for breakfast after reading the reviews on Yelp. Although the hostess/cashier never acknowledged us. We were welcomed by an obvious local who entered right before us and offered us a table. It was quite busy and took a minute before we were greeted. The first waitress came and took our drink order, but never came back. My husband, gestured to the "hostess/cashier" and nicely told her that we were ready to order. She was very rude and said, "I don't take orders" and turned and walked away. She didn't even attempt to get the attention of one of the waiters/waitresses. She obviously thought this was funny and actually laughed about it with a male waiter. After much discussion with my family, we decided to stay & give it a second try. Victoria was the second waitress. She was awesome! She was friendly and happy. We ordered & our food came out pretty quickly. I ordered a customized omelette with sausage, bacon and cheese. My husband has the breakfast burrito with potatoes. My son ordered the 2-2-2 which included 2 pancakes (huge), 2 pieces of bacon and 2 eggs. The food was so good! If we are ever in the area, we will most definitely be back. As we checked out, the "cashier" apologized for the wait, but not for her lack of professionalism. This most definitely should be addressed. As she is the face of business. This is the only reason for 3 stars. I stopped in for breakfast, the special of the day was catfish and eggs with their "colonels potatoes" pan fried potatoes with a kick of onions and topped with capers. Homemade remoulade to go with the catfish. The service could not have been better, what more can I say? Local! A little twist on the standard, and priced well for what you get. I was in town visiting family and looking for some breakfast. I walked into The Colonels café hoping to find the delicious food that I had seen on Yelp. Not to be disappointed, I was quickly waited on and placed my order for the Greek omelette. When it arrived I was not disappointed, the Greek omelette is delicious, a really unique option that I truly enjoyed. The grits and wheat toast rounded out a delicious meal. My daughter and I passed by again today, 9-9-15, for lunch. We arrived a bit past noon to a crowded restaurant. The reuben was terrific. I suggest arriving closer to 1:00 to avoid the rush. They are planning to serve dinner a few nights each week. I question the wisdom of of staggered hours. Starting in October, Tuesday through Thursday their hours will be 4 to 8. The other days they will serve breakfast and lunch. I question the wisdom of odd hours. I tend to go at different times not paying attention to what day of the week I happen to arrive. I hope it works out. I can not believe I have lived in Sequoyah hills for almost ten years and never tried this spot. Maybe it was because of its unassuming exterior. We stopped in I had the lunch special a beef melt and a side of their home fries and my daughter had pancakes, bacon eggs. By far, the pancakes were the best in town. Next incredible dish were the home fries, a must try they are very unique. The bacon was to my daughters liking, as crispy as it gets. And in the end, the check is a pleasant surprise. read more

This place is good little around the corner deli. The couple who owns it Mr. and Mrs. Lee are extremely pleasant people. They serve a variety of sandwiches, chili dogs, and sweet and sour chicken. The french fries are really good because of the seasoning they sprinkle on them. It is one of favorite places to get a sandwich on the go. I usually order a turkey on dark bread with sharp cheddar or provolone and spicy mustard. They are pretty quick since it is only the two of them cooking. Give it a shot! read more

I was really pleasantly surprised by this place, considering I've driven by it countless times and written it off. I went here for a Saturday lunch and it was absolutely great. I had a gyro with fries as the restaurant specializes in Greek food in addition to deli and breakfast food. It was amazing. It was fresh, served as soon as it was done cooking, and the tzatziki sauce was insane - I could see the fresh dill in it, which is something I can't say for a lot of other gyro places. The crinkle fries were nice and crispy and seasoned with the perfect amount. BF had a breakfast burrito with ham, which did not skimp on eggs and was equally delicious, just enough kick with the salsa and jalapenos. The potatoes were also seasoned perfectly. After our meal, our waitress brought us a sample of apple chessman's dessert for free, which was a great end to our meal. The tab came to less than $17. Service was beyond friendly. This place is a hidden gem. I hope enough people find out about this place to keep it open but not too busy! Big fan. Everything about this place is unassuming, but I LOVE the menu. This is an excellent place to bring a group (but not too large a group because it's legit tiny inside) because you've covered the bases of breakfast, Greek specialities, and traditional deli fare. Often times, versatile menus can fall a little flat in some categories, but that hasn't been my experience here. You want a Greek salad and hummus plate but your friend wants chicken strips? Boom here's both in one place (and they're both actually good). My fave here is prob the loaded colonel's potatoes...fried breakfast type potatoes with sautéed onion, capers, mushrooms, and tomatoes. It's all tossed together and covered in crumbled feta (mic drop). I also LOVE the country ham, but you'll prob only love it if you love country ham in general, which is me. Great hash browns (think Waffle House style but not as greasy). The Greek specialities are also really tasty. Nice hummus, nice Greek salad with feta dressing. I'm not an egg person, but they do have some nice looking egg centered breakfast platters with Mediterranean flair. Again, there's something for everyone. Eat here. Bring friends here.
