Angela has gone ABOVE and BEYOND making our time here special! We are so grateful to have found her here! Our elopement here was made so special and had so many touches filled with love. Our florals, table settings, and altar were so detailed and beautiful. Angela truly has an eye for detail and decoration. The breakfast was phenomenal. From the food to the table setting, we felt so comfortable and relaxed. Angela even prepared our food specially, asking us how we liked our eggs cooked and if we wanted more servings of anything. Our room was absolutely divine. We stayed in the Rhododendron Suite. There are colonial accents, but overall, an open, airy elegant atmosphere. The bed was outstanding, by far the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. We loved all of the bedding and pillows. Our bathroom was spacious, spotless, and the shower was marvelous! Angela truly is an absolute gem. From helping me corset my wedding gown, to making our elopement day extra special. She is so kind, communicative, and such a warm person. I had a wonderful stay with at Colonial Gardens! Angela was a lovely host! Such a beautiful and comfortable place to stay.

The Colonial Gardens B&B is a great hidden gem in the Williamsburg area. Located not far from the main attractions in Colonial Williamsburg, it is convenient to Yorktown, Jamestown, as well as other Colonial sites. There are at least 4 full rooms with private baths, tv's and the usual amenities. Cell service is also great. There is plenty of parking in the driveway. Our host was wonderful, making sure everything went smoothly. Chewie the guard cat made sure any intruders stayed away. The breakfasts were wonderful, with some variety each morning, and perfectly balanced. I will be recommending Colonial Gardens to any of my friends and family who will be visiting the area, and even look forward to staying again on any return trips. read more

My daughter and I had the most wonderful stay at this B&B. If you want true southern hospitality this is the place to stay. The grounds are beautiful and well taken care of. The rooms have all the amenities and are extremely clean. The rooms get cleaned every day (can't say that about the hotels any longer). Breakfast was amazing with so much food we did not need lunch! My husband and I are approaching our 3rd wedding anniversary and I have yet to ever leave a review for Colonial Gardens Bed and Breakfast, but they've been on my mind, as I would like to stay there again sometime; maybe on our upcoming anniversary. First off, we purchased a wedding package through the B&B, including the extras that provided a video and photos of our wedding. Personally I thought that it was a great value for the money since they literally do all the work. We paid them and they provided everything! We just had to show up. When we arrived, we were late. Coming from the DC area, traffic was a monster and although I arrived late, not showered and scatterbrained, Karen and the crew were accommodating in allowing some time for me to get ready for our wedding (it was an intimate affair with just me and the groom). I'm not sure which room we had, but it was a 2 part room with an area for me to get ready. I was very pleased with the room and the cleanliness. We got married in April, so it wasn't quite warm, but it wasn't quite cold. The grounds were in full bloom and just beautiful. We had the option to get married inside (in hindsight, I wish we had), because although the outside provided breathtaking photos, the traffic was so loud, you can't make out our vowels in the video during our ceremony. As someone else mentioned, the B&B does sit off of a busy road that can get loud and it can be easily missed, but I don't hold this against the business. Although there were other guests during our stay, everyone was quiet and it made for a wonderful weekend getaway. Our room was cozy and comfortable and they provided a bottle of champagne and a 2 tier cake for our wedding, as well as a stunning bouquet with the flowers of my choice. The food the next morning was the best! Probably one of the best breakfasts' I've ever eaten. The only downside to our wedding package was that I just wish I would have hired a professional photographer/videographer. The staff at this business do throw it out there that they are not professional photographers, but they do their best. However, it took FOREVER to get my photos back to me. Every time I would call, she would say that she was busy 'editing' them. And since it was just my husband and I, we didn't actually have that many photos (they did offer to take more and we declined). But I would think that it would have been a lot easier since there were so few photos. The video was a waste. Unfortunately, you can't hear our vowels over the traffic. I do know that they tried their best to eliminate the traffic sounds from the video, but were unsuccessful. I definitely recommend this place. It's small and not fancy, but it served its purpose for us, and I do not regret for one moment that we chose Colonial Bed and Breakfast for our special day. read more

Not sure why the owner of this B&B is mistaking my review with another couple. Must have a lot of unhappy customers, I stand by my review. FyI my wedding photos never went missing, took for ever to get from you but that's not anything I mention in my review. Trees do need to be cut back, limbs fall when windy out. Out side was lagging in grooming. All outside items could use paint and fixing honestly. Sheets did have holes, might be embroidered but still had holes and stains on them. They have these sites for people like myself who have visited this establishment to write reviews about the facilities. Not everyone is out to get you and if honestly Karen your so worried about that particular couple maybe they are effecting your business. I was in fact married at this B&B a year go, and I paid a lot more than 799.00 for my package. read more

I have never stayed at this B&B but I did have some boudoir photos taken here with Andi Grant in December of 2010. The location is excellent in Williamsburg just a short drive to the colonial Williamsburg section if you are in the area for some sightseeing. It's also near enough to shopping and restaurants (Prime Outlets for one) or Busch Gardens if you are in town for a weekend. I had my makeup done in the bathroom of the Azelea Suite and this room was beautiful. The furniture looks very antique and classy and the room is very spacious with the bedroom and the sitting room with the trundle bed attached. The photos were taken in the Rhododendron Suite which is beautiful. It has a nice large bathroom and beautiful classic furniture with a lovely headboard. It is a spacious suite and easily accommodated the photography equipment with plenty of room to spare for pretty photographs. I can't comment on the service of the owner since I did not spend the night yet. But since I live in Virginia Beach I have always planned to come back and stay for a weekend with some girls for a girl's weekend or with my husband. Once I make that happen I will provide an update but based on my experience this is a lovely centrally located inn. read more

Worst B&B experience ever! The owner, Karen, is not cut out for being a business owner. We rented out all of the rooms for a wedding and she complained several times that we were too loud. If there had been other guests there, it would have been her responsibility to keep the house quiet. However, when we are paying you, it is no longer your home; it is your business. Do you want sleep or money? Additionally, Karen was not accommodating to late comers at the breakfast table. She expects guests to be prompt for the meal to the point of being rude if you are even a few minutes late. The was aggravated by Karen having the wrong head count and she didn't have enough food prepared to begin with. The rooms were nice; however, they do not take care in dealing with guests personal belongings. They moved clothes and pillows onto the floor and left them there. read more

This was my first visit ever to a B&B and I think Karen has set a pretty high standard for all the future B&B's to come. Karen was very accommodating from the word go when I booked my stay a couple of weeks ago to book a cozy weekend with my husband for his bday. I called in the previous day to let her know of the late check-in and requested for a bday cake and she happily made arrangements for both. The rooms were wonderful (we took the Primrose) as a personal choice though, I prefer softer beds. But the decor was nice, completely Colonial and very comfortable otherwise. My only disappointment was with the shower area, which was too tiny and claustrophobic. I think it was about 3x3ft only! Although, a disclaimer, it could be just with the Primrose suite only. The best part of the day at Colonial Garden was the breakfast time. Conversation and food was amazing. I would definitely be back for that supper yummy French toast. If you are in the Williamsburg area, I would highly recommend booking your stay here! read more

We had a wonderful stay at this B&B and it really felt like we were just guests at a friends house. With only 4 rooms this out of the way B&B has plenty to offer. A great breakfast, comforts of home (24/7 fridge and Keurig), cozy appointments and places to relax. It's very centrally located to most all the attractions and the inn keeper has plenty of ideas for places to visit. The furniture was very luxurious and comfortable which brought warmth to our room. The lighting could be as dim or as bright as you wanted. The TV and DVD player were great and a selection of DVD's downstairs made for a cozy time Saturday night. PS - The linens & towels were amazing!! My only few suggestions -- housekeeping - clean high / clean low & look for dust! Also the bedspread was overwhelming - too heavy! We had to move it off. The heat seemed really low when we arrived on Friday night but heard another guest ask to have it turned up. The 'fireplace' wasn't anything but a Sterno style flame that crackled. It hardly gave off any heat! Finally, yes, its winter but the grounds -- front and back -- could have been cluttered of leaves and such for a more welcoming appearance. read more

Hi Karen, Well, one week ago today was the last full day in Williamsburg for Terry and me and we are really missing it, thanks primarily to you and Ron! From check-in to departure, you played a key role in making our entire Williamsburg stay a totally enjoyable and pleasurable experience. This is the first time we've ever experienced homesickness after leaving a bed and breakfast! You quickly became a close friend to us instead of just an innkeeper. We only got to meet Ron briefly on the day of our arrival, but I know he plays a key behind-the-scenes role in making Colonial Gardens the most delightful B&B we have ever stayed in. Please express our thanks to him as well. Everything in your home was always immaculate...the furnishings, gorgeous, and your daughter-in-law's original paintings, priceless. We absolutely loved our room (the Rhododendron Room) and, as you know, Terry and I absolutely loved the mattress and pillows on our beautiful king-size bed. We slept better than we have in a long time. The breakfasts you served us each morning were creative and incredibly delicious. It was so much fun getting to meet our fellow guests each morning at the breakfast table and to have you sit down with us over coffee. The conversations were always fun and lively. We met one couple in particular (Bill and Dana) that we would like to continue having a relationship with. Your recommendations for where to go for dinner (Holy Mackerel and Second Street Bistro) were spot on! We enjoyed two of the best dinners we've had in a long time. One of our favorite memories is sitting in your cozy sun room on Tuesday afternoon while it was raining, enjoying a glass of wine, playing games, and reading. The free Williamsburg Winery Tour tickets (part of our four-night stay package) were the icing on the cake! We would definitely go there again as well. I could go on and on about how wonderful of an experience it was to stay with you in your beautiful home, but I guess I need to stop somewhere. Terry and I will always treasure every moment we enjoyed with you, and Colonial Gardens, and hope to be able to return soon! Just returned from Colonial Gardens on my honeymoon. Karen was an accomadating inkeeper. Her breakfasts are delicious. Our stay was very comfortable and relaxing. We stayed in the Azalea room. The big four poster, canopied bed was extremely comfortable. The room was a tad cold, which was great in the 90+ degree weather. After exploring the area, my new husband and I spent a good amount of time lounging on the daybed watching movies on the flatscreen in the room. read more

Reserved a room at colonial gardens in June 2017. My wife's always wanted to stay at a B&B in Williamsburg and see the sights, but it didn't work out that way. I reserved the room on June 13th for an arrival of July 21, 2017. When we arrived, the owner said, "Wow that was fast!" and told us to wait a second while she checked us in. She then asked if we were Mr. and Mrs. XXXX, and we said no, We're the xxxxx's. She asked if we had a confirmation number and I gave her a print out of our reservation. After a minute she said, "I'm so sorry but I couldn't keep your reservation due to a payment problem. She said she emailed us, so I looked up my emails from her. There were two, one that said (and I'm pasting from the email) "We look forward to your visit and want you to know that we will do everything possible to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. Your confirmation number is: #24755." The same day 6/13 she sent a second email, "Thanks for your reservation here at Colonial Gardens! Can you please give me a call at your convenience to confirm your reservation details?" At my convenience????...does this strike anyone as having a problem confirming the reservation or problem with any payment or threat of losing my reservation? When I asked why she just didn't email me and say "there's a problem confirming your reservation payment" she said she didn't do that sort of thing for fear of offending anyone...WTF?!?!? I flew all the way across country from California to stay at this place and political correctness left us in Williamsburg VA with no room, no B&B, etc. If you book this B&B, do yourself a favor...call every single day to ensure your reservation hasn't been cancelled due to PC run wild! read more

Got ripped off on a wedding package. The camera was "stolen", but the owner/proprietor felt no need to tell us why we hadn't received our wedding pictures after a month. I think she deleted the pictures by mistake and was too ashamed to tell us...why else would my distraught wife and I have to initiate the conversation? Either way, there was no compensation. I was told that the pictures were "a free add-on" to the package I had bought. Did you know that wedding pictures are such a minimal part of your most important day as a couple, that they're free? It's not like I'm facetiously going to bring up the fact that many people spend thousands of dollars for said pictures. You may be confused at this point...that's because the owner edited her website within a week of that conversation to add the note of not including photography. Yes, really, she changed the website. I found a website that archived pages from the web and compared them to make sure I wasn't crazy. You know, the emotional tsunami of telling your wife that you won't be getting the pictures from your wedding can make a guy think he was losing it. Also, don't be fooled by the scenery pics on the website; they're 20' from a major road and we had to pause regularly throughout the ceremony so that we could hear what we were agreeing to. The cake was good. She bought it from some local bakery. I wish I remembered the name. read more

My fiancé and I decided to elope a few months ago. We researched the Williamsburg area online and learned about Colonial Gardens and their wonderful, exclusive Elopement Packages. Colonial Gardens is a lovely B&B secluded from the road in the woods. From the moment we arrived, we felt so special. We had reserved the spectacular and spacious Rhododendron room. It was as beautiful as the website pictures! Our candlelight wedding ceremony was so charming in the decorated living room area, wedding arch and all! My beautiful hand-tied rose bouquet was stunning as was my husband's boutonniere. A local marriage commissioner officiated and her words and sentiment remarkable! After the ceremony and pictures (which came out so beautiful), we had a romantic dinner at one of the local Williamsburg restaurants. When we arrived back to our room, we were met with a bottle of chilled champagne and lovely, delicious wedding cake! Our gourmet breakfast the following morning was delicious. Karen is an incredible cook and her hospitality so warm and welcoming! Everything about our Elopement Package was amazing and beyond our expectations.
