They lie and treat customers real bad. They promised for 0% interest and later came back late evening with 4.5 percent interest rate. They promised Wheel Locks but it was never there on the car nor on the trunk. First time I called up they said it should be there on the car. When I went there personally I was told that the wheel locks will be put on the car if the car is brought in. Finally when I went with the car with my 4.5 years old daughter, the sales man started an argument and later threatened me to call cops for leaving that palace immediately. Worst experience I have ever got from a sales man who promises something and does not deliver what he promised. The day car was bought it was snowing heavily and it was late evening and dark. Hence could not confirm the wheel locks on the wheels and also in the trunk. Please do not trust them. Ah here's a review four years late. In June 2011, I saw an ad here for a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS. The exact car I wanted: Red, manual, etc. I was coming from two hours away in NJ, and called ahead of time the morning of my trip to be sure the car was still there. Got the OK. First, let me say that my 2011 Hyundai Sonata drives incredibly well and would recommend buying a Hyundai, just be careful from the salesmen you buy it from and how the service department will try to scheme you out of unnecessary "recommendations". 2 separate times Colonial recommended to me I needed multiple tires replaced b/c they were approximately at 4/32 of an inch and that Hyundai and "industry" standards recommend replacement. Since 4/32 passes inspection I found this fishy and ignored their recommendation. Well, 26000 miles later, one of the tires still passes inspection and I had the others replaced at Pep Boys under a year ago and due to a flat (partly b/c I didn't trust them after the first tire recommendation). They recommended that the tire be replaced that had just been replaced at Pep Boys too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, after this I realized they were trying to rip me off and it wasn't a fluke so I called them out on their attempt. I talked to the service assoc., service manager and owner and all 3 of them just used the cop-out "it's just a recommendation and you don't have to get your tires replaced and that it's industry standard". I asked the owner well if a doctor recommends you to get surgery or see a specialist, would you? He said he would but that it's not the same thing!!!!!!!!!!!! Awful for them to take advantage of people this way (think of an old lady who just says OK to whatever they say?), I'm just lucky that I refuse to spend unnecessary hard earned money for thieves like the people at Colonial Hyundai. I was out running(driving)around doing Christmas shopping and a warning light lit up in my dash board. At first I thought that was a fluke - so I turned my car off, waited a few mins & turned it back on & all was normal & fine. It happened again, then 3 lights lit up & stayed on & I was very worried - they were for the ESC, ABS & AWD. As I wasn't far from Colonial (our dealer) I drove straight there because I was afraid to continue driving anywhere. I as afraid to drive it anywhere. I popped into the Service Dept & they were kind enough, and able to take care of me right away, even though they were very busy. They were able to check to see what was wrong (do the diagnostic test), had the part(s) that were needed & were able to fit me in to fix my car. I had to leave my car to be worked on the next day, but I was able to be helped & I REALLY do appreciate it. I was truly afraid to drive my car - I KNOW what those warning lights were indicating (I pulled out my Owner's Manual & checked). It was late in the day for the Service Dept (after 4 PM -they could have told me to come back or make an appointment, but I was not told that.) If I could give zero stars I would. We took our car in to fix the door handle. 6 days later the handle still wasn't fixed and they broke a hose while doing an oil change. They said it was going to be another 24 hours to fix the hose. After speaking to a manager he magically was able to fix the hose that same hour. Charged us $130 for an oil change and replacing the door handle even though the handle is still not installed properly. We also asked that they replace a headlight but they said it was not burned out (even though it clearly is) communication is very poor. Avoid at all costs! read more

$6500 for trade - no way. I went to Colonial Hyundai in Downingtown to get $600 for my trade (which was probably only worth $2000). I had called beforehand and they said that the $6500 was off of the "window price". I checked the car prices (i.e. window sticker) on the web site prior to going so I had an idea what the car should cost. I knew their offer was too good to be true. When I got there, the "window price" on every car is about $3800 more than the manufacturers sticker price because they add all sorts of extras most people won't use (car washes, dent and chip repair, etc) - especially me since I came from 40 minutes away. Their extras are on a separate window sticker that they don't show online. They do this on every new car. Included in this $3800 in an extra cost to double the manufacturers warranty - so you are paying for this warranty, they are not giving it to you like they advertise. Their advertising did get me into the dealership and after about 90 minutes at the dealership, they did give me an offer on a car that really wasn't my first choice anyway. This deal included the actual value of my trade - not the $6500. If you are interested in a Hyundai, they are probably a reasonable dealership but they should just avoid the misleading advertising and pricing. If you are interested in something else, you are probably not going to get any better deal there. Go elsewhere which is what I did and gave my business to a more honest dealer closer to home. read more

Horrible dealers. I went there with my wife to look for certified used cars, and would never even consider going there again. Nor would I recommend anyone going to this dealership who is not ready to fight for every dollar and prepared to walk at the drop of a hat--seriously, if you're not a professional negotiator, just go to CarSense. I'll explain: To begin, we are savvy buyers. We do not buy anything without researching it thoroughly and comparing prices at different sellers. We are also no strangers to negotiation--we have both worked in commissioned sales and understand how the game is played. We even enjoy the game to a certain extent. That said, we do not enjoy it when a seller tries to take advantage of us, and that is precisely what Colonial Hyundai tried to do. We went to look at used cars, two models that we had already screened for being within our budget. We, of course, knew the prices Colonial had advertised before we went there. We test-drove two cars that were online, then went in to talk about pricing. We did not tell the sales rep that we had seen the cars online. The dealer quoted us $5000 more than the advertised price on both cars--the quoted price was actually closer to the price for a brand new car of the same model than it was to the advertised price. When we balked at the price, they reduced it a little over $2000. They told us that it was the best price we could find for a certified used car with that mileage. That's when we showed them their own website. The sales rep seemed surprised, then went to talk to his manager again (he had done this throughout our price discussions anyway). The manager sent in a closer. He rudely pushed the rep we were working with out of the way and proceeded to complain about how much online advertising costs the dealer. He pointed to fine print on the online advertisement and told us that the online price assumed a $990 trade-in and omitted a $600 "certification fee." He then claimed that those numbers raised the price of the car to the amount quoted--which they did not. When we told him that we had to leave, his price was too far above our pre-agreed acceptable range, and we had to get to a doctor's appointment, he attempted a hard close. He told us that we knew right then whether his price would work or not. When I told him that it was above our range and we had to go, he kept pushing. Ultimately, we left after at least three more iterations of the same high-pressure technique. Not even ten minutes after we had driven off, I got a phone call from the rep we had been working with. I did not answer. Rather, I went to CarSense the next day. There, I got a car with comparable mileage and that was in better condition, for the price that Colonial had advertised (and that they told me that I would not find elsewhere). read more

Don't get swindled by Colonial Hyundai!!!! I leased my first Hyundai from Colonial Hyundai in 2016 and when the lease was up returned to consider my options. Made my decision to lease a 2019 Elantra and sat for 3.5 (for real, three and a half hours!!!) hours waiting to sign papers - which I did not even sign because they just switched systems and could not get the papers to print out correctly. Had to return 2 days later and they STILL WERE NOT READY!!!! Was promised by my salesman Andrew that all fees from my lease return would be absorbed by the dealership. I asked TWICE to be sure I had not misunderstood that I would owe nothing for the lease trade-in. Definitely should have got it in writing as when I received a $1500 invoice no one would respond to my calls - I called and left 10 messages - for my salesman and for both of the managers. NO ONE called me back. It's sickening that these "car salesman" lived up to their sleazy reputation. I gave them 2 stars because the car purchasing in general was pleasant. What followed however, was absolutely infuriating. My husband's car was totaled in December. In January we started the journey to buy a new car. We are 6 month newlyweds and were looking for a nice car for a decent price. We found a nice 2012 Elantra that I had seen online and was interested in. The salesman (unfortunately I cannot recall his name) was extremely pleasant and polite. The test drive was good and we were ready to buy this car. The pricing was fair and we were signing papers...this had been our first car buying experience so perhaps we were a bit naive. Our lesson has definitely been learned the hard way...we were told that they insurance company would be contacted and that our car would continue under the coverage that we currently still had with the old car. We again asked, "Is there anything else we need to do? Anyone we need to call or are we all set?" We were assured that we were set and ready to go and all paperwork would be handled under their end. So we happily went on our way with our new car. What a stinking black cloud we had over our heads. A woman cut my husband off during a snowstorm (she didn't even stop at the stop sign in her development by the way. Nice.) and he swerved to avoid hitting her. Long story short our car which had been in our possession for a little over a month was totally beat up. Hyundai roadside assistance had issues finding us, as the car was still under the previous owner's name. Eventually that was resolved and they took the car back to the dealership. There was nothing that they could do. Our car needed serious work. Then our insurance company calls and says "We have no record of this car. This is outside the 30 day grace period and there is nothing we can do." My husband met with the manager and we was quite evasive with information and said that the people handling our car purchase had indeed called the insurance company was the information. We asked for proof to be faxed over to the agent. It still has not. It's been weeks. Interesting fun fact? We finally got our car back from the body shop...after $4,000 later for a freaking Elantra, the owner of the body shop tells him that one of his employees is currently in court with this company and has been for over a year with the same incident. Thanks to them we have learned to never trust any sort of word from any business. This entire accident has shown to have faith in yourself and to triple check everyone else's work because clearly people cannot follow through on their responsbilities and tasks. read more

Love my 2011 Sonata but dealers have to understand that once a car reaches a certain time in its life you no longer need or want to use OEM parts. Colonial only offers OEM so my $586.00 brake job (two estimates from competitors using aftermarket parts) cost me $800.00. They should realize that the car is not going to last long enough to recover that difference. 120,000 miles already on the car. If it gets me to 150,000 I am a happy pup. I saw a vehicle online, 2005 mazda6 priced at $4990. I called because the vehicle was listed as a Mazda6 I sport (I-4 cylinder motor), The vehicle appeared to me to be the s sport (V-6 cylinder motor). I was hoping for it to be the V6. When i called and voiced my concerns about this they assured me that it was not a v6 that it was an I4. I decided to go look at the vehicle anyway. When I arrived I noticed that the side of the vehicle had a V6 badge on it and when i popped the hood...sure enough 3.0L v6 motor. (would it have really been too much effort to actually look?) Test drive went great, I really enjoyed the car and the vehicle ran and handled great. The car was super clean and the only things i noticed wrong with it was it didn't have a radio antenna (radio didn't work) and the ceiling liner was falling down. They said that would have an antenna installed but they couldn't do anything about the liner. Now to the interesting part...So i sat down with the sales person and began discussing pricing. Now to my understanding this vehicle was $4990 and came with a 6month/6000miles powertrain and lifetime engine warranty. I asked multiple times while on the test drive if this $4990 price included what they call the "gold check" and i was assured that yes it was included in the price. I offered $3000 down and was willing to finance the remainder ($1990). now i have less than perfect credit so I was expecting a high interest rate, but what they came back with was the most ridiculous astronomical figure I've ever seen. With $3000 down and a 36 month loan my monthly payments would have been $239/month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He at this point turns the paper to me and tells me to sign it. I refuse and voice my concerns. He than goes and gets his manager to explain the figures to me. As it turned out the "gold check", which i asked multiple times if that was included in the internet price of $4990 and was assured that it was, Actually was and additional $990 and that the increase on the car price was due to my credit score. They total price of the vehicle was actually $6800 and I would have ended up paying $11,604 in total after financing. I told him that this was unexceptionable and not even close to what it should be. They told me to hold on while they try another lender. When they return they tell me that with $2000 down and $5000 financed for 36months my monthly payments would be $183/month. This was a MUCH more reasonable rate but still more than I wanted to spend so offered to pay in cash and asked what was the best price they could do for me. At this point I had to return to work so I offered to call them later. When I was done work I gave them a call, after thinking for a while, and offered them $5000 cash for the vehicle with none of their warranties /gold check. under the condition that I'd be able to take it to my personal mechanic and have it looked at prior to purchasing (which I and my family have done with every vehicle we have ever purchased). I was told that I would not be able to have the vehicle looked at by my mechanic without purchasing the vehicle and that they will not offer a return policy. The sales men spent about 20minutes explaining to me that the vehicle had been thoroughly inspected and that they stand by the cars they sold and they can assure me that nothing is wrong with the vehicle ( just liked they "assured" me that it was a 4 cylinder lol). The best price they were able to offer me was $5800 (internet price for this was $4990...). This price was with no warranties. i was told that because the car had been detailed and state inspection. (at any other dealership this has been offered as a courtesy to the costumer not at an additional $810). And I would not be able to take the car to my mechanic prior to purchasing. Service man James didn't have the wheels removed. He removed the wheels and guess what, I didn't need brakes. Then I got their standard answer, well you will need them. My husband and I bought a used car here a few months ago. We visited three or four car dealerships that day and settled on a great little Nissan Versa from Colonial Hyundai in Downingtown. I did not care for our car salesman. His name is Joe Donia. He seemed like a real slime ball. For example, while he was taking our information and typing stuff into his little computer, he made small talk with us by bad mouthing his ex-wife and their divorce. My husband and I are newlyweds. So it was awkward. Anyway, Joe and my husband haggled a little bit. Eventually Joe said he "couldn't do any better" than his final offer, but I felt like there was a better deal to be had elsewhere, so we decided to leave. As soon as we started getting into our cars, Joe and some other manager guy came running after us saying they would give me a better trade in value for my old car, they'd try to get my car payment down, they'd do this and that.. anything to get me to buy this car. We said we wanted to go home and think about it. Within the hour, Colonial Hyundai calls and says they're very sorry but they made a math error out in the parking lot when they told me they could lower my car payment to $X. Turns out they can't get it quite that low, so to make up for it they would throw in free oil changes and car washes for as long as I own the vehicle. The prospect of saving money on car maintenance stuff like that really sweetened the deal for me. Boy do I wish I had that on tape. We drove back to the dealership and I ended up getting the car. Haven't had any problems with it except the one hubcap rolled away two days later, but who cares. Fast forward to today and I need my first oil change. I had made an appointment in advance, mentioning that the oil change is supposed to be free. I head to the dealership, and they can't find my name or phone number in the system. I give the guy my husband's name and he's in there but with the wrong phone number. We fix it then and there, no big deal. While I'm waiting for my car, a guy comes over and says there's no mention of free oil changes anywhere in my file. I said, well there better be or I'm leaving. The guy goes and gets my best friend Joe, who greets me by saying he doesn't remember my face or ever having promised us free oil changes. He says, "that's just not something that we would ever offer on a used vehicle." So I took my keys and left, feeling like I had been swindled. My husband called, but I guess everyone over there has come down with amnesia. No one had any idea what he was talking about. TLDR; The moral of the story is to make sure if a car salesman promises you something, you get it in writing. I leased a 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo at Hyundai of Turnersville. I live in West Chester, so for servicing the vehicle, I figured I'd take it to Colonial Hyundai. It's a little bit out of the way for me, but from what I've heard by ear they were decent. I've taken my car there twice now for an oil change. I make an appointment and it still takes about an hour and a half. My dad is actually a service manager at a Volkswagen dealership, and he told me oil changes should take no longer than 45 minutes to an hour. I was told each time I was there that it was Saturday and they were overbooked, that's why it took so long. Unfortunately it's not my problem that your technicians are overbooked. In my opinion, the whole idea of making an appointment, is to make sure you have the time and technicians available to perform the work needed. I won't be returning back there again for service. I took it to Carousel Hyundai off 202 South and the oil change took no longer than 45 minutes. read more

After the test drive and the attempted up grade to a car we were not there to purchase, we sat down to discuss the price. First, we were told that they would give the best price if we were serious about buying today. In order to prevent us from taking their quote and running to another dealer, the salesmen wanted us to sign a blank sales quote. After I stated that he was only willing to give us a quote if we signed the paper, he denied it. He stated that it was to prevent us from taking that quote to another dealer and getting a better price. I told him that signing that paper would not prevent that and it was the nature of the business. We did not sign the paper. After salesmen lectured me on how the negotiation process works, he proceeded to tell me all of the promotions and the specials warranty deals that were included free with our purchase so they could move cars this month. He took the blank sales quote without our signature back to the sales manager. The initial price came back well above the sticker price because they added the cost of all of those "free" promotions. I told him that offer was unacceptable and he went back to the sales manager and came back with another offer. When I called him out about the promotions said that we would be entitled to certain rebates for various things like student, veteran, etc. I stated that I am not negotiating something that I am entitled to. I also found it odd that the first over-stated price was written in permanent marker. The second offer lightly crossed out the marker with a light ink pen or pencil. Thereafter, the sales manager came out. He stated that we misunderstood the salesman about the promotions and that he misled us. That was not the case, as I sat waiting for the salesmen and quotes I could hear other salesmen delivering the sale speech to other customers. We walked out. It was a waste of time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS PLACE! Advertised 5,000$ for any trade in. We called THREE times to confirm this offer. In fact we kept saying it seemed to good to be true, Was told THREE times that "this is what we do". Requested a certain model and color and was assured it was on the lot. Not only did they not have to car they claimed to have but completely LIED about the offer. Shady , untrustworthy business practices at Colonial! I needed new tires for my vehicle. So I live near this dealership so I went to their website and created a tire appointment, and ordered the tires I wanted to be put on my car. I get to the dealership at the appointed time, and come to find out that they didn't have my tires in stock, as well as didn't have any notice of my appointment. I live about 35 minutes away from this dealership, so all said and done I wasted about 2 hours of time. I was very dissatisfied with the service department, and even talked to Hyundai corporate office. They wouldn't even give me a break in price if I decided to still use their services, therefore they lost a huge sale for my car. Very Bad Experience!!!! read more

This is the most honest dealership I have ever been to and I was at plenty. This is NOT a scumy, get you in get you out dealership. If you want an Amazing vehicle for the best price this is it! They didn't just put me in so car and say good luck. They really listened to what I wanted, needed, and my price range. Most places wanted to know the max I could spend per month so they can cripple you with interest and add-on junk, they didn't. The financial department (I recommend working with Sam Elters) is amazing. Not only is our interest way lower than other places but he showed me the price they paid, msrp, kbb and etc. No other place was willing to do such. We also signed two contracts because our gap insurance was not complete at that time. I was sure I would end up paying the higher amount, however they did everything they could have and low and behold I AM PAYING THE LOWER AMOUNT!!!!! this is how relationships are built! They are the best dealership and honest. I will always recommend them. And p.s. they go above and beyond on the warranty no crazy expensive oil changes or nonsense. I purchased a used 2009 Sonata. My sales person, Michael Guido, was great. However, when it came to signing the paperwork, I learned that the 60,000 miles or 5 year warranty wasn't from the time of purchase as I understood from the manager, Michael Lutman. The finance person, Vince, spent 20 minutes explaining the Hyundai Protection Plan, which was a warranty for 10 years or 100,000 miles. He recalculated my monthly loan payments 3 times and miraculously was able to lower my finance rate by 1% if I took the Plan. I didn't in hopes that the Hyundai name and the reputation of Colonial Hyundai matters and I won't need the Plan which was going to cost another $1000. Stay tuned. read more

"Buyer Beware" Total con artists. First off they tell me they cannot sell the vehicle I was trading in on the lot because of an upgraded (totally street legal) exhaust and (totally street legal) K&N cold air intake, so they low ball me on trade in by using the wholesale value and claiming they couldn't sell it on their lot and would have to send it to auction. Eventually I talked myself into accepting this explanation even though I knew I was getting ripped off. A couple days later, lo and behold my car is listed for sale, on the lot for $5,000 more than what I accepted for the trade, and they are using the upgraded exhaust and K&N intake as selling points! I understand the dealership has to make money, but that was just blatant lies. Next, a few months later, I am in the market for a new car (first purchase was for my wife). So foolishly I decide to give them a try since they had some "promotions" and "incentives" running. The car I was looking at 2017 Hyundai Accent SE has an MSRP of $14,500 (approx). They have it listed for $16,900, but wait!!! We have a dealer incentive of $2500 cash back! How convenient.... $16,900 - $2500 = $14,400. Classic marking up the car, just so they can put it on "sale" to get the price they should get for it anyway. On top of that they are running a promotion for $6500 guaranteed for your trade. Okay, that sounds better, $16,900 - $6500 trade = $10,400 right? WRONG!!!! If you want to use this promotion you have to accept "Dealer List Price" which is some imaginary number they come up with and guess what? That price is $20,900. Let's do the math... $20,900 - $6,500 = $14,400. Hmmm this is conveniently right around the MSRP. Go figure. Totally deceptive practices, and if it wasn't for a ton of fine print, blatant false advertising. Oh and the car that I previously purchased? Took it to the mechanic here to have an issue looked at (Car was having issues accepting fuel). They tried to charge me almost $800 for the service. Told them no thanks. Took it to my normal mechanic... "Oh you don't need an entirely new Charcoal Canister, just 2 purge valves." Done for $550. All around, just trying to scam customer to make a quick buck.
