This place is the definition of a "no frills" bar/pizzeria in all the best ways. They offer full bar service and lots of great beers on tap but the single best reason to come here is the pizza (it's literally the only food they serve). For ten bucks + the cost of whatever toppings you want, it's the perfect size to share with someone (or yourself if you're a subscriber of the "any pizza is a personal pizza if you make it so" mantra). The pizza itself was perfectly made with a crunchy bottom but a chewy center. I highly recommend the hot oil topping, it gives the pizza a little bit of heat without it being overbearing. The staff were also super nice, in fact, I had a drink mix-up (was given the wrong beer) and the manager comp'd my drink. Our waitress did mention that the pizza is best eaten in the restaurant so I would keep that in mind if you plan on coming in vs taking out. If you're only going to do one thing, you better know how to do it right; and colony grill does it right! The name and the decor are a bit misleading, appearing as a modern Irish pub on the outside. Despite having "grill" in the name, the only thing on the food menu is pizza. But man they know how to make it good. The pizza is a classic New Haven CT style, super thin crust baked at high heat. My pizza had a nice thin crust that held together well with crisp edges. Veggie toppings were very generous, meat toppings were standard. The toppings are a bit pricey so I wouldn't get more than 2, or else you'll be looking at a hefty bill. The staff is super friendly and the service is prompt. Since the pizzas are baked at high heat, they come out fast. You'll definitely leave this place satisfied! The only thing I would want this place to add is a slightly expanded menu of bar snacks, 4-5 items max; to appeal to those with certain dietary restrictions. read more

My new fav spot to get a good beer on tap and some delicious New England style pizza in the Arlington area! I really admire this place for opening right in the middle of the pandemic, and still doing their best to create a safe, comfortable, and overall pleasant dining experience for their customers! Their servers were all very friendly and would frequently come by our table and ask us if we needed anything and how we were enjoying the pizza and our drinks. They have a good selection of toppings for you to choose from to put on your pizza and the crust is thin but perfectly crispy and flavorful! I ordered a pizza with their famous hot oil, along with pepperoni, red and green peppers, and black olives. All together it tasted delicious and really hit the spot for me! I hope that they continue to stay in business for a while despite these difficult times because I really like the atmosphere and set up they have going on inside and the style of their pizza is unique and all of the ingredients tasted very fresh! I look forward to returning here the next time I'm craving a pizza with a good glass of cold beer. They only get 3 stars for 2 reasons : 1) if I go to a place and you take my money, I don't expect to have to hear a waitress, a Susan I believe, and a bar back, an older Hispanic man, laughing about me for any reason. I would fire the bar back immediately if I was in charge. I work in this industry and came by myself, but do know - you lost my future business because of his behavior. Point blank. I tried pizza from Colony Grill for the first time on Sunday. I had never tried New England style pizza before, so I was intrigued. My friends and I ordered a few different flavors: Hot Oil, Fresh Mushrooms, Stingers, Sweet Peppers, and Breakfast. The pizza itself was unique and delicious! I really loved the thin crust as well! Flavor-wise, the Hot Oil was the BEST! The Hot Oil topping gives a nice spicy flavor to the slices that isn't too overpowering. The other toppings we got were definitely tasty, but I will say the Stingers is SPICY, so BEWARE. I'm glad we have this quality pizza spot in Arlington, and I can't wait to visit again! Saw this place on social media and wanted to try it! We came in on a Friday night and received great service. I got the hot oil pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. I really enjoyed the crunchy thin crust. I'm also not a spicy person and I didn't find the oil too hot for my taste. My boyfriend enjoyed his pizza as well. Colony Grill is the inventor, and to my knowledge the sole purveyor of, the Connecticut "bar style" pizza. It's not entirely unique, but you've never had anything quite like it. The defining feature is the crust, thin and crispy to the point where it could have been made on a flour tortilla. The other aspect is the chili oil, which adds spice without being overpowering. The toppings are pretty generic, but that makes sense for what's at it's heart a blue collar pie. It shouldn't be so good, but somehow it all comes together to make something pretty special. read more

We got a plain cheese (one bite, everybody knows the rules) with the hot oil on the side. Wow, that hot oil is amazing! We'll definitely get it right on the pizza next time. It was super thin crust, perfect amount of sauce and the cheese was nice and stringy! They have an awesome beer list and wine/liquor options. Ron was our server - he was engaging, explained the menu thoroughly, and joked with us our whole stay. He definitely made the visit that much better. So, I ordered a pizza from a friendly young lady. A busboy brought out my pizza, dropped it off and left. Everything about this place is so objectively weird that there is no reason why it would make any sense. Chain restaurant serving one item on its menu, Irish pizza from Connecticut, in Virginia. Sounds like a good way to get laughed out of the room by potential investors. But somehow it works. Place feels like it has been there for 30 years, in a good way. The bartenders are that hard-to-emulate mix of seemingly bored yet extremely attentive, and the kitchen delivers on their singular menu offering. Altogether, the establishment conveys a feeling of normalcy that people are probably craving as we recover from the oddities of the past two years. Wood paneling?
