No frills pizza place that just focuses on the food. And that's awesome. The food was delicious. One kid wanted pineapple pizza and one kid wanted pepperoni. So we got half pineapple and half pepperoni. Awesome pie. Cheesy , cooked well done but not burnt. I had a sausage and meatball grinder. The sausages they use are delicious. Nice hole in the wall neighborhood spot on the Westside of Bridgeport. Definitely a must stop if you're in the area. 100% kid approved!! read more

It's been 40 years since my last visit to Beverly Pizza House in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Yes, 40 years (maybe even a few more, the last time wasn't too long after 1980, just can't recall exactly). Used to go there with my parents, when we lived in Fairfield. The pizza was always good, but over the years, I have developed a dislike for Greek style pizza. And that's what Beverly Pizza House serves. So I was curious how their pizza today would stack up to my memories from so long ago. Well, I was not disappointed. Beverly serves the BEST Greek style pizza I have ever had, and it is as good (if not better) than I had remembered it. My buddy (who happens to love Greek style pizza), said Beverly's sauce was not as sweet as typical Greek style pizzas. Also, they cut the pizza in triangles, rather than squares, like most Greek places do. Our pizza today was greasy, but it was very flavorful, I enjoyed it throughly. We ordered a large half sausage, half cheese. I brought a chicken parm grinder home for my wife, she was happy. It won't be another 40 years before I drop into Beverly Pizza House again ! read more

Pizza isn't horrible, but the "garlic knots" are just a dried sub roll cut up and sprinkled with some seasoning. Garbage. $65.55 for a large pizza, grinder, and garbage garlic "knots". First time, last time. Sticking with Captains next time. read more

Been eating at Beverly Pizza since I was a kid (a looong time!). Service is about average. Ambiance? You'll know you just walked into a place that's been around a while. Comfy and clean...but not fancy. Always fresh, always consistent. This pizza is an excellent cross between NY and New Haven style...but it's Greek pizza. The sauce! Epic! The cheese! Perfect! And don't sleep on the grinders, pasta and salads...you won't be disappointed. Even though I live 3000 miles away now...I still get that craving that only a Beverly pie will quench. Update: My first review was for the pizza which I liked and would order again. This review is for the eggplant parm grinder which someone had recommended. I ordered "take out"from the Slice app, which is easy enough, requesting extra sauce on side for the eggplant parm. I Paid and was informed resturant acknowledged order and it would be ready at 12:13. I arrived at 12:16p.m. and the owner asked if I ordered the grinders-yes. He then proceeded to make them! What?! I watched the clock as my 30 min lunch break vanished before my very eyes. Only 1 other customer was in the place. Got home to realize there was no extra sauce on side. Arrgggh! Bread was not crispy, so little sauce, could not detect any parmesan, and the eggplant was cleary not fresh and had that bitter rancid oil taste. I would steer clear of the eggplant. read more

Pizza is incredible been going there since I was a kid. Still the same inside as it was in the 70s. Ordered a pizza to go 45 minutes before pickup time. No pizza no memory of my call?? There is literally nowhere like Beverly Pizza House! BEST BEST BEST pizza hands down..... pizza I have loved since I was 8 years old and we would get it after Black Rock little league games. It is still my ultimate favorite all these many years later. It has not changed as far as taste and even the restaurant set up for over 30 years! When my siblings are back in town, they ask about getting Beverly. It is simple, greasy, cheesy, deliciousness. People will say the place is dated, who cares? If the pizza is good, are you living there? And YES you order and always wait for it..... so better to arrive on the later end.... no big deal. I would gladly wait for it! This is a staple pizzeria to the Black Rock area and for all of us that have moved away BUT still come back just for it..... says a lot! Ok pizza and salad We had pepperoni pizza, cheese pizza and Greek salad. The pizzas were both very greasy. The ingredients used for the pizzas seemed quality but I couldn't get over the amount of grease. The salad was made with iceberg but had nice olives and feta. The restaurant itself is super dated. I happened to be on this side of the city and tried an old place I used to visit when I was a kid. Surprisingly the place has not changed much. The decor is still the same. I chose not to dine in, I ordered take out. Nothing special, just a small sausage pizza. The pizza was ok. Plenty of sausage and cheese but it wasn't anything out of this world. The prices were actually quite reasonable but Maybe I was just a bit nostalgic for a back in the day pizza. I don't think I will be visiting again. read more

In the Black Rock, Beverly's is a staple and I've heard people talk about it for years. I stopped in hoping to grab two slices quickly, but slices aren't an option at Beverly's. I changed my plans and ordered a large pizza to eat there with a friend. After waiting a bit, we wondered if our pizza was ever coming out. After hearing the same concerns from others, we were pleased when our pizza finally came out. They are quite generous on toppings, making this truly a pizza you need to eat with a knife and fork. Our pizza with various toppings was good, maybe a little too thick for my liking, but that's my personal preference. I wish the staff had just a little more pep, even getting a to-go box and checking out took quite a long time. If you aren't in a rush, stop by Beverley's or place a to go order, just don't stop in hungry. read more

Beverly pizza is by far my favorite restaurant in CT when I come to visit. The pizza is amazing and the staff always shows love. Eli is always conversational and friendly. 4 PM i ordered a pizza to be deliver at 6.45 pm, after a long day working and having just a sandwich for lunch, i was drooling for my pizza. 7PM, i called Beverly pizza, they were totally confused lying to me that Silce didn't give them my order. 7.45pm i called again not really happy and an Asian Indian told me that the Slice drivers are stupids because they can't find my address, he was really angry, and i finished without pizza. I ordered multiple pizza from them before and no problems. Slice has no driver, About that!!! i'm in hospitality business, (restaurant), what a shame do not deliver your promesses read more

Downloaded this app just to give this review. Probably the worst pizza place I've ever been to. First of all, the worker and boss I spoke to were the rudest people, giving me attitude when I was asking genuine questions. I preordered and payed through the Slice App, which went smoothly. My friend went to pick it up for me, but was asked to pay for the same pizza as well.... The worker said that they weren't going to give her the pizza unless she payed for it, meaning we were charged double for a pizza.... Not only were we treated poorly, but we were also over charged for a simple pie. Pizza was subpar and gross, honestly. Never going again, would not recommend to others. read more

The meatball pizza is SO GOOD! We had a little problem with my order through a delivery service and they called me to straighten everything out and guaranteed they'd get it right...which they did. A great pizza place that's been in the neighborhood for a long time. I read some of the reviews that the inside needs updating. I haven't seen the inside but I love the pizza. read more

Beverly's pizza is good but it's probably the ugliest pizza you'll ever come across so don't mind the aesthetics. I recommend allowing at least 30 mins for your pizza to be ready no matter what time they tell you (inside tip) I used to go here as a kid so it's nostalgic. There's tons of seating inside but the interior is dated so don't come here for the ambiance. The owner Eli is quirky but cool. Check it out. read more

We got delivery from here once and they honestly were not bad. I was surprised actually. I had not heard much about Beverly before that. The pizza slices are smaller than I expected (a plus as I prefer small slices over large) and while not the best pizza, for a night in with delivery it wasn't bad at all and not that costly. I do not get pizza delivery all that much but I'd order from them again if I did. read more

I have passed this place many times and finally decided to stop in. You can't buy by the slice, so I ordered a small pizza. It was ok, but not great. I think the sauce needs improvement. (Let's face it. We have so many choices in pizza in this area that we are very, very particular. This pizza would probably be a solid A+ in Delaware, but will get judged more harshly up here.) However, I liked the atmosphere of this place. Lots of local customers, not fancy at all, and the guy making the pizza is in control of everything. When I ordered my meal, the guy taking my order turned to the chef, who told him to charge me $11. When I gave him a $20, he again turned to the chef, who told him to give me back $9. I thought that was so funny. Does he need to do everything? You don't get this kind of atmosphere everywhere. The place has a charm all its own. Maybe I will give it another try in the future and will like what I get better. read more

One of our favorite things last time was the smoked black salt rim on the Tropicale margarita. Our first round had regular salt. Second round we asked for the black salt which they did but it wasn't smoked. Fried ice cream wasn't fresh, it had been fried in advance, so the outside wasn't warm or crispy. Ultimately we ate it all. It was good but for the price (with tax and tip over $400) I'd expect something with higher execution.

The owner is a complete jag-off. To start, the guy answering the phone didn't place my order (read other reviews - this happens all the time. My guess is the incoming calls get in the way of their pot-smoking). At the counter, the owner first took my money, handed change, and then said there was no order. I showed him my cell with my placed call and somehow he tried to blame it on me. He then walked to the kitchen, came back and barked "15 minutes" to us. My wife and I and 2 small girls had to stand there (our clothes absorbing the grease that permeates the air) and wait 30 minutes (I wish he'd hire me to work the phones, a toke or two w his employees would help pass the time as the pie cooked). He then slid the 2 pizzas our way, and turned his back offering no apologies. The guy didn't even look our way, just turned his back. My wife (a nurse and a front-line provider) said she was displeased and he started to yell back at her. This human is a cretin with his stained apron and filmy glasses - he IS the grease he works in. It would be impossible for an owner of a business to be ruder. DO NOT SUPPORT BUSINESSES LIKE THIS. GO ANYWHERE THAN THIS OUTDATED, DIRTY, GREASE-PIT WITH ITS A-HOLE OWNER. read more

Use to love this place, but ever since loosing Mike this place has gone downhill fast. I'm surprised they're still in business. You place an order over the phone, asked for your name, then are told ready in 25 minutes. You get there in 30 minutes, then that's when the fun really begins!! You get to the counter, they ask you what did you order, not what's the name on the order like anywhere else. Then that's when you slowly realize they haven't even put your pizza in the oven! The guy behind the counter seems clueless, awkwardly talking to every single person anxiously waiting around for their orders. Rambling on from everything from where do you work, to Star Trek. Then he yells at the poor kids hustling in the back trying to keep up. How about just getting the orders out????? It so frustrating to even step foot in there. I miss Mike, the friendly old man (Chris) which I believe use to be the owner. This place was a Black Rock icon, which had the potential to flourish with the revitalization of this incredible neighborhood. 10+ years customer. Started coming here as a reward from my coach. To this day I only come here when i succeed at something, so you know my review means serious business.. I wish they catered, because if they did, my wedding would be graced by Beverly's elegance.. There was a dark time of my life where I hadn't won a meal at Beverly for almost an entire year. Terrible basketball team. Things are finally looking up again! Anyway, other reviews with less than 5 stars I can assure you were written by liars, and as you can see, they probably aren't very successful people either. There's no reason for me to even mention anywhere else. get you're life together and earn yourself some Beverly. You'll be glad you did, and so will your family. In my last moments, I hope someone remembers this review and brings me a small cheese to enjoy on my death bed. read more

Let me start by saying I am a pizza snob. I am from Boston and have worked in New York, Chicago, LA, etc. I have been around the pizza block. Espresso in Lowell, MA. Ritas in East Boston, MA. Reginas in the North End of Beantown. John's Pizza in NYC. The original UNO's in Chicago. But the most amazing pie my taste buds have had the opportunity to experience in the world is Beverly Pizza in Black Rock, CT! If you have never had geek pizza before I suggest you try Beverly' ASAP I LOVE this place it has been in this location for decades and there is a reason for that... Probably because they have some of the most delicious pizza in town amazing pan pizza with a amazing thin crispy buttery crust that has cheese running all the way up to the edge of the pan probably the only pizza that I eat that never has crust left! I can't speak on anything other than their pizza and the chef salad but they are my go to and they are to die for probably up their on m list of last meals yes they are that good. read more

For Greek-style pizza this is the one. The perfect chewy-crispy consistency of dough with a yumalicious-tangy sauce, and a beautiful balance of cheese. I always order a plain cheese because it stands on its own. Eli and the Big Guy bring their own wonderful brand of hosts-with-the-most to the festival. I love the pizza and the banter. There is no other pizza like Beverly's. I first came across it in the Eighties. Hot, cheesy pies with great sauce & generous cheese & toppings. Their bacon pizza is to die for! I used to come here primarily for the bacon and pineapple pizza but now my favorite thing on the menu is their meatball grinder with peppers: for $5.50 you cannot beat it. I grew up in Black Rock- for us, the biggest treat growing up was Friday night Beverly pizza. It is still the best and what I compare all other pizza to- I've even gone out of the way to pick one up if family from out of town is visiting- if it's pizza, it's got to be Beverly's. read more
