Lisa, the owner of ReCrafting is just phenomenal in every way--helpful, hardworking, makes you feel comfortable to browse and shop for yarn, beads and fabrics (not sure about fabrics, actually). I basically threw four boxes of beads at her, completely snarled and mixed up, that my sister had given me when we cleared out her house for sale. Lisa didn't skip a beat or look cross, and somehow she organized them for sale. Unbelievable! So I was shocked to see a couple of very negative yelp reviews. It turns out those were reviews of the store's previous owner. Lisa has owned the shop for about a year and a half, so the bad reviews aren't a reflection on her sunny, totally comfortable approach to customers--both buyers and sellers. read more

Wonderful store. Lots of quality yarn and many other craft items (quilting, buttons, books for many crafts and of course yarn) for sale at great prices. It is a consignment store so you can bring in items but get beautiful quality items for sale such a great prices. The owner of the shop is so friendly and really knows her stuff. I super enjoyed shopping here! The owner was really friendly and we talked about travel and our projects. She had some good insight and was very encouraging about me taking up the new hobby of crocheting. The yarn was really reasonably priced and they had yarn from all different materials. I really liked that this was yarn that could have gone to a landfill but instead was saved and sold at a heavy discount. My biggest wish is that the shop would stay open til 6 PM so I could make it after work more regularly, but I understand that the owner has a life outside of the store. read more

I love this place. Shopping the yarn here really is like a fun treasure hunt. Also, essential tools (needles, stitch holders, stitch markers, etc) are super cheap. Between here and Coven of Stitches, who knew Alameda would be such a great place for getting knitting supplies? read more

Cute little shop! The owner I assume was just stamping stuff or filling out paperwork at the cash register. Didn't bother me too much which is nice since I have social anxiety. I wish some music was playing would have made it a little less awkward. I got some absolutely gorgeous finds and will definitely be returning! I love this place! I'm a quilter, and I really appreciate the organization of the quilting cloth by both color and type - they have batiks in their own section, and fat quarter size pieces also sectioned out. I also love that I scored some notions I've been eyeing for nearly half off, like some special rulers and a bobbin tension device. read more

I am very surprised by all the positive reviews . My experience was different. I walked in the shop today looking forward to finding a gift . I was greeted with a hello , then the shop owner preceded to arrange the yarn and other items . she and I were the only ones in the shop . i looked around and realized this person is not going to help me find a gift . it felt like she was waiting for me to leave , so I left , saved $50.00 , and will spend it in a much friendlier shop . read more

The owner of this shop is awful. I found this shop while visiting Alameda. I visited the store nearly each day, as a project I was doing developed. I'd been to the store about 4 times. I am a friendly, nice person and I bought several items every time I was in the store. I think most small store owners like that......don't they? Apparently not this one. She is very unwelcoming and unfriendly in general. I just accepted it as her personality, but she was absolutely psycho to me on my last visit and I won't be going back. Her loss, most definitely. I can find other stores to get what I thought I needed from this awful place. I had been in the evening before and asked her to hold an item because I'd run in without cash on me and it was less than $10, so I couldn't put it on my debit card. (Isn't that illegal for stores to do, btw?) It was about 15 minutes to her closing, so I asked if she could hold it for me till the next morning. She agreed. I came the next morning and wanted to look around for other items. First she said to me, "Well, there's nothing new since last night." That was a weird thing to say, I thought to myself. You DON'T want me in your store looking to buy more things? Some items in a shopping bag on the floor near the counter looked interesting to me and I asked about them. She responded that they hadn't been priced yet. Ok, that was reasonable. . Her tone was rude, as it always seemed in the few times we had interacted before, but if she didn't want me looking at those things; it was no problem for me. I then asked for the item from the evening before, which was still on the counter by the cash register. I'd wanted to look at it next to other things as I shopped. In response, she literally stepped out from behind the counter, very angrily exclaimed, "LOOK! THAT DOESN"T WORK FOR ME!" I was shocked. She had literally taken physical steps toward where I was standing. So aggressive! It would be funny if it weren't so incredibly disturbing. I pointed to the fabric I was planning to buy. She said, "Oh sorry" and handed me the appropriate piece. But....what was that all about? Her anger was way over blown, no matter what she thought I was asking about. I just put down the item I was going to buy and left. Shame on this person, whose name is "Andrine." Clearly she doesn't like people and is in the wrong business! She is rude, inappropriate and overall just awful. Quite joyless, I would add. Maybe she was extra mean because she could tell I was from out of town.That's completely unacceptable! ....and disgusting. But, I will be the one to apologize..... I mistakenly convinced myself that I enjoyed coming into this store (I kept trying to ignore how unpleasant it felt to be in there with her unwelcoming demeanor) and, you know.... spending my money. No worries. It won't happen again. Oh and when I have extra crafting supplies or my colleagues do, that we may want to resell or donate....or buy, I'll be sure not to contact you. I just loved this little store! Super nice and friendly owner. This is a consignment store for craft items. Good thing I'm not into knitting or crocheting or I would have gone nuts! Lots of yarn to choose from. There was a variety of different craft items on the day I visited. I choose a cute little rubber stamp and a sticker set for a co-worker's daughter when I was there. This is one of those stores you're going to want to pop into often, as you never know what will be there from one day to the next! read more

Love this little crafting store. They sell a variety of new and used items like yarn, ribbon, rubber stamps, buttons, and scrapbooking supplies. Once in a while I'll find a some treasures (cute rubber stamps) at a fraction of the price of what they normally charge at major crafting retailers. This store is kinda of hidden near Bank of America, so you have to really look for it if you're going to find it. read more

This store concept is fabulous for all of us crafters who are either always looking for the next project or already own enough materials to keep us crafting into the next millennium! What you'll find there will always be a surprise- yarn, stamp and quilting supplies, books and patterns, and all very carefully labeled and taken care of. Well displayed and well priced too. The only drawback is that the quantities of everything are limited to what the owner has on hand. This is the perfect place to shop for the next "unknown" project- you'll know it when you see it! Great shop with a decent variety of yarn and tools. Given that it's a resale store, I was pretty surprised at the selection. I've seen Cascade, Frog Tree, I even think I saw a random skein of Madelinetosh once. Additionally, there's a very welcoming knit night on Wednesday nights. I absolutely love this place, a good friend tipped me off to the hidden gem and now I'm hooked. The store is in close proximity to many other businesses so if your SO doesn't want to peruse crafty products, send them out for some shopping of their own or for something to eat and SHOP ON! I'm from So Cal but whenever I'm up here, I try to squeeze in a visit to see what treasures I can discover. There are many quality items to be had and the more time you have to search for them, the more likely you'll find them. I like to take my time looking and the owner didn't mind me doing so around her carefully organized shop. Great little craft consignment store with an ever-changing selection of yarn, knitting notions, needles, beads, fabric and the list goes on. They have a particularly nice large selection of yarn at half off retail price, often in quantities more than just one skein per color. I've also sold things here with great success. I love being able to clear out my craft supplies and make a little money and know they go to another crafter who will enjoy using them. I just wish they were open on Sundays, that's usually the day I want to make the drive to Alameda! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this little consignment shop. As an avid knitter, occasional sewer and mom to 3 girls and a baby boy I'm always looking to save money. Having just taught 2 of my girls to knit as well we are always looking for new yarns and tools. The selection is always changing which makes it fun to see what's new. The selection goes way beyond knitting as well. There's quilting items, paper crafting, beads and more. The prices absolutely cannot be beat and the lady who runs/owns the shop is always super sweet. There's even an open table craft night on Wednesdays. Great way to get out and have a little adult time while getting something done. read more

This store is perfect for a quarantine crafter! As someone who needed a new hobby, I walked in and was astounded by the selection of craft items, and not knowing much about any of it, the staff was very helpful in showing me easy things I could craft and what to buy for them. With handfuls of stuff, I was shocked that my bill was so low! Great prices, great staff, great selection? You can't find anything better. Also, the fact that so much of it is recycled adds another bonus to the charm of this shop, and the proximity to park street is very helpful for when I just want to make a stop at the craft store on my way home from a walk! read more

This place is a consignment shop or resale shop for peoples extra yarn from projects or fabric stash pieces that never made it to a completed project. I got a couple yards of ribbon and silk embroidery thread for dirt cheap. Nice to find a place to unload all of the bits and pieces you hang onto cause you don't want to throw away or think you still might make something with them. Way easier than taking the time to llist online. Rubber stamps, books, needles and much more. The woman that owns and runs the place is terrific. read more

I love the yarn and misc,. craft stuff here -- but can't give a good review to the fabric! I bought 2 pieces today -- one said "2 yards quilting fabric" -- it measured about 1 1/3 yard, and had several large holes about 6" from one edge and 2 6" square cut out. True, it was 60" wide fabric rather than the usual 42" -- but clearly NOT 2 yards and should have been labeled "as is" but wasn't. The other piece was labeled "1/2 yard quilting fabric" -- it was a half yard, but only 36" wide instead of the usual 42" for quilt fabric. Altogether a disappointing experience! Be sure to ask to unroll and examine the fabric pieces before you buy -- especially since everything is "final sale". read more

I've been a crafter since my Nana handed me a piece of fabric and a needle, and I promptly sewed it into a ball! Jump five years and I'm learning to knit. Jump a few tens of years and I'm beading. Now I'm just knitting. Andrine, the owner, did a lot of research before opening her store and has come up with a winning combination. She takes your unused crafting supplies and offers them up for sale to other crafters. Then you become the customer as well and purchase other crafters' unused supplies. I've emptied my bead supplies and purchased yarn and needles at less than retail. She pays you a commission on what she sells, which I normally turn around and spend in the shop. She has fabric, yarn, needlepoint canvases, crafting kits, buttons, rubber stamps, and everything in between. She is a dream to work with and offers great customer service.
