Updating my review as it seems that my previous experiences were due to getting lucky with my instructors rather than this class / studio. Can no longer recommend this place in good faith, especially given the plethora of other options around the city and even just in this neighborhood. After a poor experience this past weekend, I reached out to management who has been ghosting me, despite my outreach and having been a loyal customer (as noted in previous reviews, I am now a subscribing "member" to their studio). My sister and I signed up for a typical 2 hour class, expecting to use the wheel for nearly the entire 2 hours as we usually do (as members). Instead, the class started 10min late, my sister and I were told I could only use the wheel for a bit and then had to wait for others to swap onto the wheel (when I said we didn't need to be supervised, we were told we could use the one extra wheel - even tho there were 2 empty wheels). In total I spent sub-30min on the wheel before the other couple got onto the wheel and my sister had to move to the painting section even though she didn't have 1.5hr of material to paint. Once the couple was done, she swapped back to the wheel and so did I. Then Aayah, one of the instructors, told us we were supposed to do all our throwing in the first hour, but how is that possible if we had to wait for others to throw? As a member, I was told we could throw the entire time if we liked, not that we had to spend half the time painting. Then when I wanted to spend the last 5 min of class quickly trimming my piece (remember we started 10min late, so we should have actually had an extra 15min), Aayah was huffy with us and told me I couldn't because the "date night people paid extra to be alone", but I paid for my full 2 hours and didn't get it. In general, she was also just very grumpy with us, constantly mumbling under her breath about us. All in all, it felt like I got all the difficulties of studio time (ie., minimal help, only help centering and no guidance on what I was doing after - teachers chatting with each other / eating while we were throwing and only helping the other couple), without the freedom to do what I wanted for the entire two hours. If I wanted 2 hours of studio, I could have booked another pottery location and saved myself the headache. Plus as the cherry on top, we were told to clean up everything we were using unlike the other couple who was working alongside us (and who signed up for the same class). read more

This was my first time trying pottery class. We took a 2-hour class and had an incredible time. I loved that it's more or less a private experience as there was only one other group booked for the same time and with two instructors, we basically got a private session. They will walk you through each step of the wheel throwing process, such as how to throw, center, and shape the clay. Within the allowed time limits, you can make as many as you want. You will have to choose one final product among the ones you've made for firing. You can also choose to paint the pottery for an additional fee. My only complaint is that when we returned a few weeks later to pick up our products, one of the handles on my jar had broken. I understand that it can sometimes happen during the firing process, but the person who gave us the final products did not seem to care at all about it and offered no assistance when I mentioned it was broken. Had my very first pottery class here and it was absolutely amazing! Our instructor, Alexandra was so helpful and made the experience so fun that we'd def come back again. My boyfriend made a tea mug and I made a doggy bowl for our dog, Oscar. My boyfriend was such a natural but I found it so therapeutic! Booking was super easy -- they text you a link to reserve/pay. We initially went with just the pottery making package but last minute decided to go with the paint one! No regrets, the paint really elevated our dishes and made it unique to our style. Experience was fun. Pickup was not. On website it said my order was ready. I showed up and then they said they couldn't find my item. How? I called the head studio they said it needed to be fired. Okay, then why did you say it was ready? Then the next minute, shes says never mind, it's fired. Ten minutes later I get a text saying that the item is not fired. Make up your mind for real! Had a great experience here! My friend and I went because we have always been interested in making pottery. It was on our bucket list of things to do in NYC. We made a mug each (using the wheel) and then one piece of pottery that was handmade. They provided stencils for shapes to use for the handmade pottery. I made a hand-shaped piece of pottery and my friend made a leaf. We spent a lot of time making the shapes but not enough painting and you only have 2 hours to make and paint the pottery. I suggest that the studio allocate more time for painting so maybe the session is 3 hours in total. We paid $120 each for the class and the glaze was included. I think you pay less if you don't want the glaze but the glaze is required so that you can actually use the mugs. Overall, a fun experience, highly recommend it! It also inspired me to buy clay and tools on amazon and make my own pottery. read more
