The concept is straightforward: you pick a piece of pottery, paint it however you wish, and after it's fired in the kiln, you take it home. I came here for their Holiday paint-your-own ceramic ornament. For this particular workshop you can choose between quick-dry acrylics or glaze and fire option. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they regularly check in to offer suggestions and guidance. You do not need to have any experience at all. Overall, 5 stars for a fun activity. read more

best experience I've had at a Color Me Mine location! I made a reservation for 8 people from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM on a Saturday, but my group was able to stay until around 2:00 PM without any complications or added fees! The workers were so great at accommodating not only our extra time, but also all of our requests for more paint, questions, etc. they had such a wide array of pottery to choose from. there were a lot of examples of painted pottery available for us to get ideas from, which we all really appreciated. the location itself is pretty big, allowing for multiple groups of varying sizes and ages to work at once. only complaint is the price of each pot, but obviously that includes the cost of paint, firing our pottery, and other necessary fees. Cute activity to try out and distract yourself from the fast pace of New York. I came here with a group of friends on a weekday evening and it wasn't too busy. We were able to make a reservation online. It is quite pricey as you have to pay for the pottery pieces in addition to the reservation/studio fees which did not go towards the ceramics in our case. It was also quite frustrating because of the lack of variety of ceramics to choose from. I was hoping for a tea cup, saucer, or teapot, but didn't find anything of interest so ended up picking a donut as I can use it for storage at least. They do have some seasonal pieces. All in all, it's more of a one and done and I wouldn't go back unless someone I really liked asked me to go with them. read more

Had a great time at Color Me Mine! Studio fees are $15 per person which just means you pay $15 to be there. Then you can select your piece of pottery from their large collection on the shelves. They range in price from $18-40 I would say. Most plates and bowls are in the $30-36 range. Then they get you some paints and give instructions and you're free to go. The reservation was only for 1.5 hours but I think we were there for 2.5 and no one was trying to rush us out. read more

Has a fun time painting here! Was pretty pricey. About $50 for the table reservation and the piece I painted combined. They also didn't have tons of options when I went. Maybe because it was the end of the day? But I wish there had been more plate/cup/vase options. I ended up painting a Santa for my mom for Christmas. It turned out really well! They tell you it'll look so much better after they fire it and they're right. When you're painting it can be a little concerning, but don't worry, it'll look great in the end! They were out of white paint when I was there which was super annoying because that's such a basic color. Luckily the pottery is white so if you don't paint it, it will turn out white, but frustrating if you need to layer the white over something else. Overall, I had a fun time and they happened to be giving out free ice cream when I went. But I wouldn't come back just because it was so pricey. I would maybe come back if I was going to paint with someone else and share, like a significant other. read more

We've had better experiences here in the past but were disappointed to see that they are now charging for parents to attend with their kids. To be clear, that means that for one child just to sit down at Color Me Mine, it costs $30 ($15 studio fee for both child and adult). This is an un-family friendly practice in a neighborhood swarming with kids. I think I will try dropping off my 2nd grader next time while I go spend the $15 on something I actually want, like a coffee from down the block. The Color Me Mine staff can then attempt to meet the every need (or even a fraction of them) of two 7-year-olds. The worst part was that we made the reservation for the 2 kids and then saw that the 2 moms would have to stand in the way of the aisle the whole time. So we asked if there was a table for 4 available. They ushered us to a new spot with no mention that this would cost us an extra $30 ($15 studio fee per mom who wasn't painting). This information on the fees definitely would have influenced our cost-conscious decision not to paint anything ourselves! read more

This is a very mixed review. Very positive experience on project day. Fun creative activity with grandson on a non-school day. Many pottery bases from which to choose, a broad array of colors and a helpful staff. After completing your project, you leave it for staff to fire in the kiln. This may takes weeks, so beware, in case you have a deadline. Upon pick-up, we were thrilled with our pottery. Vibrant colors, as we'd hoped. Now the reality, not so positive. If you plan to put your finished pottery and admire it from a shelf, I think you'll be fine. But I wanted to use my lovely mug and staff assured me the mug and my hand painting would be durable. Sadly, in less than six months, the paint and glaze chipped in a couple of places, despite my super-careful handling. Only hand washing, never the dishwasher and never in the microwave. I brought my precious project back to CMM and operations staff, very kind and helpful, assured me they'd fix the chips and assured me that yes, they could match the colors. They were overly optimistic, to put it generously. It is not as good as new, as I'd hoped and I guarantee I could not have been more careful with it. Consider these caveats. BTW: I noticed that sectioned baby dishes were among the pottery bases. I would never use a CMM for a real baby dish (maybe a pretty gift for a shelf) as I would not trust the finish to keep a baby safe. read more

Had a reservation for a group of 10 and the initial experience was went great! They continued to give us refills for our paint whenever we asked and didn't rush us during our stay. We left all super happy with our experience. It was everything after that was such a pain. They said they would call me once the pieces were ready and should be done by next week. A week went by and I did not get any call, I was worried as I know they only keep the pieces there for a certain number of days to make space for incoming pieces. I had to be the one to keep following up and when I called they didn't have a definite answer if they were done or not, they just said it "should be here." So when I came to pick up our order it took them nearly 30 minutes to find everything even tho I called in advance to say I was picking them up. At first, they even insisted that it was either picked up already or that it was under a different name. Anyhow, It's not to say that I wouldn't go back. Id just ask for the name of the person you speak to so that they can be held accountable if anything goes wrong for pickup read more

First time doing this, it seem interesting, and thought it would be a great activity to bring the kids I work with. Made reservations in advance, to ensure that space was available. When we went in, it wasn't packed although we did go on a weekday. We were told where to seat and informed that we needed to have our masks on at all times. We were told not to touch the ceramics and if we needed assistance or questions, to let them know. Once we all decided on what we wanted, they took the ceramic we picked and cleaned it before giving it to us. We were told we can pick 5 colors at a time (each person) to start painting. We weren't really assisted as much (there was only two staff) and they don't really hover or walk around. We were able to get our paint re-filled on our own. The experience was fun and my kids enjoyed it. As it was relaxing although it was a bit hard to get it all done in an hour and a half. We weren't rushed but we didn't want to overstay or anything. Oh, also something that I didn't like was that their brushes were very used up. It would have been nice to have better brushes as it would have made painting some details better. When it was time to pay - whoa, was I surprised by the price of each ceramic. Even the kid that picked a hello kitty plate (that honestly can fit a slice of cake) was around 30 dollars. I just wished that they listed the price visibly, to be seen. We were told that it'll take a week or 2 before we can pick up our completed piece. That we'll get an email or text...hopefully that won't be an issue. We had a 5th birthday party for our twins this weekend and it was an outstanding experience. From the planning to the execution, the entire experience was seamless and so much fun! The staff took care of everything, they set up the shop so perfectly for about 45 little painters and their parents and guardians, they had stations for glitter tattoos, and adorable gift bags! The employees at this location are absolutely lovely - zero complaints. The problem is how this location is run. It is understaffed and overbooked. First, there is almost nowhere to wait if your table isn't ready as the place is packed with tables and we were constantly shuffled around while waiting in order to not be in anyone's way. Second, the employees were stretched so thin between all of these tables that it took 30 minutes from the time we arrived to the time we were given our palettes - during which time we had to ask to be helped. Third, the system of having employees bring you paint is making things harder for both guests and employees. They are constantly running around between tables, making wait times for paint so much longer than they need to be, especially when I could just go get the paint myself. Lastly, they need to be clearer about pricing. No matter how they slice it, you are paying for the items PLUS the studio fees. Them adding and deducting it on the receipt is needlessly confusing. You pay the studio fee when you book, AND you pay for the items when you come. TLDR; Fewer tables, more employees, more self-service, clearer pricing. read more

Following up from first review.. I got a text to pick up my pieces today. I stepped inside and waited on the mat as the sign requests, and told MY name to the girl the front desk. She handed me a bag and I left. I opened the bag once I got back to work and realized she gave me my friends ceramics not my own. When I called back to tell her about the mix up she accused me of giving the wrong name. Why would I give another person's name? This employee was so rude and she's the same rude girl who over charged us the day of our bad experience painting there. I work next door so I went back for my piece and the rude employee was hiding in the back. This place is awful. The staff is awful. Do not offer me a gift certificate again OFFER ME MY MONEY BACK. OVERPRICED AND HIDDEN FEES. I had been dying to bring my boyfriend here on a date so we could make something together. I know it to be quiet popular especially with recent viral tictoks. Even though I knew it was going to be an off day I wanted to make reservations just in case. On the website to make a reservation you pay $12.00 per person and is listed that it will be applied to your final checkout price of the item. The experience it's self is wonderful and once they give you instructions you are able to do what you want in regards to time and needing more paint. The plate we chose was totaled as $38.00 which as itself was expensive but somewhat understandable for the experience you have. However even though I paid for an online reservation for a total of $24.00 I was still charged another $12.00 for "table reservation" which seems counteractive to my already paid reservation. I was charged a $50 dollar total for the whole 2 hour experience and when I mention it to the younger women checking me out (she was not more than 20, and seemed somewhat new), she brushed it off and told me it was for the table. I'm a pretty non-confrontational person and since I already mentioned it I did not wanna mention it again. Overall the price was the only thing I have to complain about so if you are willing to pay that just be aware it may be more than you are planning on. read more
